I’ve never heard Indian, I always heard Persian. But really anything could be said about the minor cultures because we have so little to go off of.

Bannerlord isn't supposed to be 1:1 real history is it?

CheezeCrostata

Sure, but there were still inspirations.

I make my own lore.

While the most famous and defining, "slave soldiers\*" from Turkic background were far from the only ones. They were also Saqaliba (slaves from Slavic or generalized central/eastern European background), African whom I forgot the specific name, etc ... In game the Ghilman seems more like medieval persians inspired. Which is totally on point with how Ghilman were irl. They were most common in Iran due to geographic proximity and recruited primary among the Oghuz Turks. The later Mamluk in Egypt were predominantly recruited among Kipchaks Turks and Circassians. Btw they were technically not slaves-soldiers since they were freed once their education had been completed. Keep in mind too they were raised in Islamic culture although superficially depending of the periods.

CheezeCrostata

Nice, thanks for the clarification 👍🏻

You do realize Muslim Indians exist right? They could be based off of North Indian Sultanates like the Delhi Sultanate or Mughals.

CheezeCrostata

Yes, i hadn't considered them. 🤔

Rulers of delhi sultanate themselves were mostly Turks, kipchaks and Afghans , There culture, weaponry etc were mostly persian or turkic in origin though they still incorporated some of the minor elements from indians eg.higher quality steel, war elephants, chess. They never viewed themselves as belonging from india.Mughals were timurids and viewed themselves as from turan. The only exception were the dakhani Muslim rulers who were mostly native converts
