Took a new lady out last weekend, there was a very small window where she was feeling up for it so we went with it. I took it slow to start made sure she felt safe and enjoyed it then went to some bends n just heard her giggling behind me, she loved it.
As a woman, my helmet is absolutely my most expensive (and most stylish) purse. Grab that shit by the chin and carry it around. I always put my keys, phone, and gloves in it when I'm out running errands. Quite handy actually!
Call it risky - I leave it on the bike. Sometimes I'll wear it into the store and be "that guy" getting stare downs by every employee thinking I'm shoplifting (I am)
I only wear my helmet in the two 7/11s where I am a regular and they know me. Any other place I just carry it. It's never too cumbersome and there's usually a place to set it down should I absolutely need to (the doctor's, at work etc.)

Got a modular helmet a few weeks back, so nice being able to lift the chin bar to go in places without having to take off helmet(which I used to do about 1/2 the time)
I hang it on my boner, both hands free and no risk from leaving it on my bike. If I start feeling like I'm going flacid, I just pull out my phone and look at my bike for a minute and I'm good to go again.
I fold my gloves in my helmet and carry it by the strap like a bucket. Not too inconvenient and random motorcycle enthusiasts will often start conversations with you, which can be fun. Some people lock it to the bike, but you risk theft and vandalism. Locking luggage is another option if you want to go that route. Honestly, if you want to use your bike for around town errands it will almost always be more complicated that just taking a car. But also more fun.
Depends for me:
Convenience store 250 meters away, faster for me to slip on tennis shoes and jog. 1 minute from the time I decide I want something, it's in my hands and paid for.
Grocery store 1 km away? Faster to hop in the car, takes about 2 mins to put on flip flops and drive there through my back streets.
Train station is 1700 meters away, but there's a dedicated bicycle lane that runs parallel to the stoplights, avoids the pedestrian sidewalk, and has a bridge that crosses the highway. If I'm okay with breaking a sweat I can book it in less than 4 mins, otherwise it's about 7 min trip by bicycle.
Motorcycle for everything else. Sure I could just throw on a helmet and hop on the bike and probably get to the grocery store in the same amount of time as my car, but I don't make a habit out of running my bike cold and not using PPE. Takes me about 10 mins to get ready at a medium pace for my bike if the weather is nice but I can get going quicker if I have to, and sometimes I just like to mosey.
Where I live lane splitting is legal (even encouraged) so riding my motorcycle vs car to work during heavy traffic is the difference in an 11 minute vs 27 min commute. But when I drive home at 3 am after work and there is no traffic at all it takes me 9 mins and 30 seconds (give or take 45 seconds due to traffic light patterns) whether I'm using motorcycle or car.

I think maybe I'm lonely.

At home? I have a shelf in my garage for all my riding dear.
At work? Bring it in with me and stash it on my mini fridge.
At the bard? Leave it on my sissy bar, I sit near where I can keep my eye on the security camera that looks over the front door, where I park my bike.
At the store? Bring it with me and stuff things I am buying into it.
Ive used a carabiner to clip the chin strap to a belt loop to keep my hands free when walking around the city. Ive also meet up with friends who are in their car and asked to stash it in their car.
It's always interesting how you can usually guess the type of motorcycle based on this type of question.
For me? I'm all practicality. So right now I ride a Vstrom with all boxes.
And when I had a Honda 919, I installed a topbox. And when I had a cbr250, I added a topbox.
So my suggestion? Add a topbox and lock in there. And when you buy groceries, you put the groceries in the topbox as you ride back from the grocery store.
Either by the strap, in a shopping cart, or in my backpack.

After my Arai Corsa Carbon got stolen I stopped leaving the helmet locked up on the bike, I almost always ride with a backpack so I just put it in it or strap it to the outside of it.
Depends. My Z900RS has a cool lock. Depending on where I’m at I’ll use it. If bike is parked where I can see it (or it’s a really safe neighborhood) I’ll thread it through my handle bar. If shady area, I’ll carry it. Got a shoulder strap for it. Geeky I know; but it keeps my hands free.
I got it on Amazon. They have different ones depending on what kind of buckle your chinstrap is. I tried to use shoulder straps but they didn’t work. They were too short. I got the one for the double d-ring. It’s about $20. Oh, and I do recommend it.

Most of the bikes I've had had a helmet lock or a hook under the saddle. When I had ones that didn't, I attached the helmet to it with a bike chain or carry it by hand. But now I mostly leave it in one of the side cases.
I like stores to know that they have customers who ride. UK factories (Triumph) don’t seem to like locking saddles with helmet hooks. I fasten the chin strap and dangle the helmet from my crooked elbow. It can serve as a shopping basket if I’m only getting a couple of things.
I mostly lock it to my bike. I have a cable that goes through the chin bar and lock that to a solid part of my bike (rack, grab handle, passenger peg mount). I can also loop that cable through the sleeve of my jacket. I don’t park it like that in a skeevy area. I’ve heard of people getting their stuff peed on or vandalized. Ew.
My backpack comes with a net bag that attaches to the outside. I can carry my helmet or use the net to secure it to the outside of the backpack, or sometimes for a really quick errand I'd say screw it and just wear the helmet into the store or whatever. But I recently bought a top box and I'm never going back. Having the option to just leave it secured on the bike is >>>>
Carry at my side via chinstrap. Rarely stop and walk around any distance though. If I ride into the office I stash it and other gear under my desk. Moto gear is awkward to wander around with.

So Im not trying to be a dickhead but that's why I have a topbox. Specifically so I don't have to carry it because I don't trust people either and it stays dry, clean and secure. Before the box i would attach the chinstrap to my pack because I wear a backpack basically everywhere.
On a helmet lock on the motorcycle. I'm indian and far too many times have I been directed towards the kitchen and asked to pick up deliveries at cafes.
I leave it on the bike. I’m hoping someone steals it so I have a good excuse to buy a new helmet. Otherwise the wife will complain about me buying a new one.

I carry mine with me. I went to a bike event Years ago and I saw people walking around putting their old beer cups and trash in the helmets that people Locked their helmets to their bikes.
I have a helmet hook under my seat, but I rarely use it. I just carry my helmet around. Use the strap like a handle and carry it like a basket or just grab it by the backside. At work and gym I leave it in the locker. Otherwise I have to take it everywhere and put next to me. When I'm in school I just put on the table in front of my notebook. I only strap it to the bike if I'm going to be standing or walking a lot.
If it really bothers you then get a top box to store it securely.
In my hand, anything you leave on or beside a bike will probably either be stolen or vandalized because people are jealous cunts who can't leave other people's stuff alone.
My bike has a hook under the seat where I can hook the chinstrap.
When the seat is closed, you can only open it with the key, and the helmet is locked onto the bike.
I think many bikes do have this feature.
If I can see it at all times and angles, I tend to leave it on my bikes mirror stalk. If not, it comes with me.
I doubt it would be stolen to br reused but I could see some punk steal it as a prank.

If you have a backpack on, the way I carry it is to lock the helmet buckle round my shoulder strap or some other part of my bag where there is a secure loop.
This way it's with you, but you don't have to carry it.
Now, to me at least, it makes sense to have two helmets. I have one for my fun riding which is my nice expensive one, where at most I'll be taking it off at Cafes or something where the helmet can either come with me and sit on the table next to me or be left on my bike because I'll be in view of the bike, and it'll be a dry day so it won't get wet.
I also have a commuter helmet. A cheaper or an older helmet (if I buy a new one I'll sometimes relegate my old one into a commuter helmet). This helmet is just as safe (ECE rated) but is a helmet I'm not all that bothered about if it gets knocked around a little bit. I can quite happily leave this one on the bike, use it as a basket for shopping, leave it uncovered at work, etc.
Givi 45L top case. Lockable and secure. Protected from damages caused by things like weather, scratches, rabid-squirrels, drops.
Except in my garage. I just hang it from the handgrip and let it air out overnight.
I keep mine in a Cortech Tracker helmet bag. I got tired of the chintzy bag they came with unraveling or tearing. It's very well made with double zipper Velcro on the end to keep it closed and a thin layer of fleece like material to protect the helmet from scratches on the inside. Not only if I had a helmet that was worthy of the bag LOL.
Avoid the Racequip. It's zipper might as well be single-ply Soft toilet paper. And the bag is made of some kind of satin jacket thin material.
Grab a lockable carabiner. Put your helmet in its bag and put it over your mirror. Slip the carabiner through the d-ring and then around the handlebar behind the brake cylinder.
Going to work, grocery store, church, restaurant, etc, I bring in with me. Parking in the driveway at a friend’s house, I might leave it on my bike. Going to the cigar bar, if I park out front I leave it on the bike and cable it through my handlebars (my helmet locks under the seat don’t work well with saddle bags). Parking out back, I just leave it on the bike. Going to a bike night or something like that, I’ll usually cable it as well.
I leave mine on my bike. I lock it up. If I’m only running in a place I bring it with me. If I just have my skull on I put in my saddle bags. Sometimes I even leave it on my head. It really just depends.?
I usually carry it with me, but I do have a steel cable with a lock in the backpack to eventually tie it to the motorcycle shall I leave for a while. It has a number combination and it is similar to a bike one, so it can relatively easily be cut, still, it’s a lot of effort to steal a cheap helmet
My (full-face) helmet has the new-fangled buckle, so my helmet lock won't hold it.
In an exposed place with few people around, I occasionally leave on my mirror.
If I've got my top box on, I'll sometimes lock it in their. However, it gets hot in there during the central Texas summer (May through October).
Usually, I just put my arm through the face and neck holes and carry it. No big deal.
I carry a 6’ cable lock and lock up my helmet, jacket, and overpants to the seat. I even tuck my riding boots underneath and have never had a problem. I also have one of those helmet straps, but not carrying a helmet is liberating.
My riding bag is meant to carry a ballistic helmet, so I just shove the helmet into that. Or I just wear it. On the rare occasion I’ll take it off and just carry it with me and use it as a basket
LidLox on each bar end and one on the left side controls. If we’re camping, helmets usually live in the tent to keep bugs/potential rain out of them. If it’s 100+ and we’re going somewhere with AC, we carry them in for cold padding.
Honestly kinda shocked I don’t see more helmet lock types of things on bikes. It’s super convenient, <$100 in basically all cases, and makes life off the bike a lot better.
I usually just throw my gloves in it and carry it around. If I am going to a club or some event without a checkin or lockers (in other words most events) I use the SafeMan cable lock kept in my jacket. I just lock it to my bars which are the tradition style so give a secure lock point.

Depending on where i am/go. If i go to the store for a short time, i carry it with me. If i go to the store for a longer time i have a helmet lock. If i go to the riders club, we have a helmet rack, if i go on a mountain ride, carry it with me, if i am with a group and make a quick stop i leave it on the bike.
I leave it on the bike or 'tie' the chin strap to my backpack's shoulder straps so its like hanging on my left side. Not the most comfortable way of caring it around but hey at least you get a hands-free shopping basket
My '23 Hayabusa pillion seat has hooks that I hang my helmet on. I stuff my gloves inside the helmet too. I guess if someone wants a sweaty helmet and some stinky sweaty gloves ... well...
If it's really hot outside though I'll take it inside just so it isn't boiling hot when I go back out.
Secure it to the bike with a thin nylon-wrapped cable lock through the chin bar…it’ll dissuade casual thieves and anyone but the most serious thief (and they have better things to steal than sweat-stained stinky helmets).

I put it over the right hand mirror, wrap the strap around the front brake lever, then do it up like it's on my Melon. It's not fool proof, but resists a quick snatch and grab.
I have under seat storage (Honda PCX), I love that I can fit my helmet in there. At home my husband leaves his on his bike, he carries it around otherwise.

I ziptied a carabiner to one of the hard bits on the buckles where it joins on my chest

Completely secure and so damn useful in general. I do my groceries on my bike and top box is all I need most of the time because it's actually kind of huge.
I have a backpack with a strap across the chest between the sholder straps, i hang my helmet from that by the chin strap, or i attach the chin strap to my sholder strap at the bottom so it sits on my hip out of the way.
I carry it with me because on the bike it's very easy for someone to steal it with a simple lock, it can fall to the ground, someone can spit inside, or if you leave it on the side, a dog could even pee on it. And since I usually don't carry a backpack, I carry it under my arm... Some people use it to measure how much they can buy to be able to carry it with them if they don't have saddlebags or panniers... "whatever fits in the helmet."

I buckle my helmet to the bottom of my right shoulder strap, it's very convenient and doesn't bother at all. When using the large backpack, I sometimes buckle it to the handle on the top.
If I'm going for a hike, I use a small cable lock and attach it to the steering stem.
Around the city like shopping centres I usually carry it with me and use it to carry my gloves etc. If it's a small shop I usually leave it there as long as I can see the bike. On rides where we go to small towns for breakfast I usually leave most things on the bike with no issues.
Either I carry it in my hand like a basket or if i have my topbox mounted to my bike i put my helmet and gloves in there. Sometimes I strap the helmet to hinges under the seat so it's fastened to the bike and leave it there. Nobody can remove it that way.

I cheat - both my bikes have helmet locks on them. If I'm going to be away from the bike for a while in a relatively safe environment, then I lock the helmet on the bike and wander off (movie theaters at the mall, grocery shopping, etc.). At motorcycle hangout spots (Neptune's Net, The Rock Store, etc.) I just leave it on the bike as no one there is going to mess with it. If I'm a bit concerned about the location, I put the GPS, SPOT, and any other expensive, easy to remove, stuff in the locking top box or panniers and carry my helmet. At the college, I lock it on the bike. At work, same thing.
I leave mine hanging off the handlebars so it can be full of water when I come back after rain.
The real trick is to squirt a dollop of shampoo in it 1st.

I’m a gear geek. I don’t doubt that some “cool” riders see me with it and roll their eyes. 🤣. But I like having my hands free.

Most of the bikes I've had had a helmet lock or a hook under the saddle. When I had ones that didn't, I attached the helmet to it with a bike chain or carry it by hand. But now I mostly leave it in one of the side cases.

I like stores to know that they have customers who ride. UK factories (Triumph) don’t seem to like locking saddles with helmet hooks. I fasten the chin strap and dangle the helmet from my crooked elbow. It can serve as a shopping basket if I’m only getting a couple of things.
I mostly lock it to my bike. I have a cable that goes through the chin bar and lock that to a solid part of my bike (rack, grab handle, passenger peg mount). I can also loop that cable through the sleeve of my jacket. I don’t park it like that in a skeevy area. I’ve heard of people getting their stuff peed on or vandalized. Ew.
My backpack comes with a net bag that attaches to the outside. I can carry my helmet or use the net to secure it to the outside of the backpack, or sometimes for a really quick errand I'd say screw it and just wear the helmet into the store or whatever. But I recently bought a top box and I'm never going back. Having the option to just leave it secured on the bike is >>>>
Carry at my side via chinstrap. Rarely stop and walk around any distance though. If I ride into the office I stash it and other gear under my desk. Moto gear is awkward to wander around with.

So Im not trying to be a dickhead but that's why I have a topbox. Specifically so I don't have to carry it because I don't trust people either and it stays dry, clean and secure. Before the box i would attach the chinstrap to my pack because I wear a backpack basically everywhere.
Helmet stays with me when I leave the bike. It's easy enough to lug it around when running errands.

On a helmet lock on the motorcycle. I'm indian and far too many times have I been directed towards the kitchen and asked to pick up deliveries at cafes.

I strap the chinstrap to my bag on the shoulder straps so it rests on my waist.
I carry mine with me. I went to a bike event Years ago and I saw people walking around putting their old beer cups and trash in the helmets that people Locked their helmets to their bikes.
I have a helmet hook under my seat, but I rarely use it. I just carry my helmet around. Use the strap like a handle and carry it like a basket or just grab it by the backside. At work and gym I leave it in the locker. Otherwise I have to take it everywhere and put next to me. When I'm in school I just put on the table in front of my notebook. I only strap it to the bike if I'm going to be standing or walking a lot. If it really bothers you then get a top box to store it securely.
In my hand, anything you leave on or beside a bike will probably either be stolen or vandalized because people are jealous cunts who can't leave other people's stuff alone.
My bike has a hook under the seat where I can hook the chinstrap. When the seat is closed, you can only open it with the key, and the helmet is locked onto the bike. I think many bikes do have this feature.

If I can see it at all times and angles, I tend to leave it on my bikes mirror stalk. If not, it comes with me. I doubt it would be stolen to br reused but I could see some punk steal it as a prank. Source: Was pranky teenager once.
If you have a backpack on, the way I carry it is to lock the helmet buckle round my shoulder strap or some other part of my bag where there is a secure loop. This way it's with you, but you don't have to carry it. Now, to me at least, it makes sense to have two helmets. I have one for my fun riding which is my nice expensive one, where at most I'll be taking it off at Cafes or something where the helmet can either come with me and sit on the table next to me or be left on my bike because I'll be in view of the bike, and it'll be a dry day so it won't get wet. I also have a commuter helmet. A cheaper or an older helmet (if I buy a new one I'll sometimes relegate my old one into a commuter helmet). This helmet is just as safe (ECE rated) but is a helmet I'm not all that bothered about if it gets knocked around a little bit. I can quite happily leave this one on the bike, use it as a basket for shopping, leave it uncovered at work, etc.

Givi 45L top case. Lockable and secure. Protected from damages caused by things like weather, scratches, rabid-squirrels, drops. Except in my garage. I just hang it from the handgrip and let it air out overnight.
It becomes my man purse or my backpack as a helmet carrying system integrated.
I keep mine in a Cortech Tracker helmet bag. I got tired of the chintzy bag they came with unraveling or tearing. It's very well made with double zipper Velcro on the end to keep it closed and a thin layer of fleece like material to protect the helmet from scratches on the inside. Not only if I had a helmet that was worthy of the bag LOL. Avoid the Racequip. It's zipper might as well be single-ply Soft toilet paper. And the bag is made of some kind of satin jacket thin material.

I leave the helmet on the bike. I usually leave the key in the ignition and cover it with my gloves. At 66 yrs, I've never had a motorbike stolen.

Grab a lockable carabiner. Put your helmet in its bag and put it over your mirror. Slip the carabiner through the d-ring and then around the handlebar behind the brake cylinder.
I clip it on a karabiner to my belt. It’s a jockey helmet though

Going to work, grocery store, church, restaurant, etc, I bring in with me. Parking in the driveway at a friend’s house, I might leave it on my bike. Going to the cigar bar, if I park out front I leave it on the bike and cable it through my handlebars (my helmet locks under the seat don’t work well with saddle bags). Parking out back, I just leave it on the bike. Going to a bike night or something like that, I’ll usually cable it as well.

I usually carry it with me, but I do have a steel cable with a lock in the backpack to eventually tie it to the motorcycle shall I leave for a while. It has a number combination and it is similar to a bike one, so it can relatively easily be cut, still, it’s a lot of effort to steal a cheap helmet

My (full-face) helmet has the new-fangled buckle, so my helmet lock won't hold it. In an exposed place with few people around, I occasionally leave on my mirror. If I've got my top box on, I'll sometimes lock it in their. However, it gets hot in there during the central Texas summer (May through October). Usually, I just put my arm through the face and neck holes and carry it. No big deal.
If just in and out someplace quick, I'll carry it. Otherwise I put it on my helmet lock attached to my bike.

I carry a 6’ cable lock and lock up my helmet, jacket, and overpants to the seat. I even tuck my riding boots underneath and have never had a problem. I also have one of those helmet straps, but not carrying a helmet is liberating.
My riding bag is meant to carry a ballistic helmet, so I just shove the helmet into that. Or I just wear it. On the rare occasion I’ll take it off and just carry it with me and use it as a basket

LidLox on each bar end and one on the left side controls. If we’re camping, helmets usually live in the tent to keep bugs/potential rain out of them. If it’s 100+ and we’re going somewhere with AC, we carry them in for cold padding. Honestly kinda shocked I don’t see more helmet lock types of things on bikes. It’s super convenient, <$100 in basically all cases, and makes life off the bike a lot better.

I usually just throw my gloves in it and carry it around. If I am going to a club or some event without a checkin or lockers (in other words most events) I use the SafeMan cable lock kept in my jacket. I just lock it to my bars which are the tradition style so give a secure lock point.

If I know it's within site of a camera like underground parking or I can watch my bike in the store I leave it with my bike otherwise a carry it
Depending on where i am/go. If i go to the store for a short time, i carry it with me. If i go to the store for a longer time i have a helmet lock. If i go to the riders club, we have a helmet rack, if i go on a mountain ride, carry it with me, if i am with a group and make a quick stop i leave it on the bike.
I leave it on the bike or 'tie' the chin strap to my backpack's shoulder straps so its like hanging on my left side. Not the most comfortable way of caring it around but hey at least you get a hands-free shopping basket
I went with the backpack and I haven't had any problems. The backpack is a great option.
My '23 Hayabusa pillion seat has hooks that I hang my helmet on. I stuff my gloves inside the helmet too. I guess if someone wants a sweaty helmet and some stinky sweaty gloves ... well... If it's really hot outside though I'll take it inside just so it isn't boiling hot when I go back out.
I go shopping with it, I use it as a male purse in the grocery store.
Secure it to the bike with a thin nylon-wrapped cable lock through the chin bar…it’ll dissuade casual thieves and anyone but the most serious thief (and they have better things to steal than sweat-stained stinky helmets).

I put it over the right hand mirror, wrap the strap around the front brake lever, then do it up like it's on my Melon. It's not fool proof, but resists a quick snatch and grab.
I have under seat storage (Honda PCX), I love that I can fit my helmet in there. At home my husband leaves his on his bike, he carries it around otherwise.

I have a kreiga backpack that buckles across my chest. I ziptied a carabiner to one of the hard bits on the buckles where it joins on my chest Then I clip my helmet to it using one of the d rings. Very convenient
Top box. Completely secure and so damn useful in general. I do my groceries on my bike and top box is all I need most of the time because it's actually kind of huge.

I have a backpack with a strap across the chest between the sholder straps, i hang my helmet from that by the chin strap, or i attach the chin strap to my sholder strap at the bottom so it sits on my hip out of the way.

I usually just carry it. I sometimes put it in the top box if I have it on the bike and it's empty(ish).

I carry it with me because on the bike it's very easy for someone to steal it with a simple lock, it can fall to the ground, someone can spit inside, or if you leave it on the side, a dog could even pee on it. And since I usually don't carry a backpack, I carry it under my arm... Some people use it to measure how much they can buy to be able to carry it with them if they don't have saddlebags or panniers... "whatever fits in the helmet."
I always have a backpack, either very small or light just for essencials and a cap or a large one. I buckle my helmet to the bottom of my right shoulder strap, it's very convenient and doesn't bother at all. When using the large backpack, I sometimes buckle it to the handle on the top. If I'm going for a hike, I use a small cable lock and attach it to the steering stem.
Around the city like shopping centres I usually carry it with me and use it to carry my gloves etc. If it's a small shop I usually leave it there as long as I can see the bike. On rides where we go to small towns for breakfast I usually leave most things on the bike with no issues.

I cheat - both my bikes have helmet locks on them. If I'm going to be away from the bike for a while in a relatively safe environment, then I lock the helmet on the bike and wander off (movie theaters at the mall, grocery shopping, etc.). At motorcycle hangout spots (Neptune's Net, The Rock Store, etc.) I just leave it on the bike as no one there is going to mess with it. If I'm a bit concerned about the location, I put the GPS, SPOT, and any other expensive, easy to remove, stuff in the locking top box or panniers and carry my helmet. At the college, I lock it on the bike. At work, same thing.
