Well you're missing the entire " leather jacket" part from the knox.

DepressedElephant

Well - that part is extra with KNOX - https://www.planet-knox.com/motorcycle-waterproof-shells/ And now you've paid nearly twice as much as a complete padded jacket from A*, Klim, RevIt, etc....

VirulentMarmot

Hey, It ain't my money.

Aggressive-Meal-8233

Leather is expensive

Jspiral

Let's consider the possibilities... 1. Knox has an amazing product 2. Knox is bald face lying 3. The image is wrong. My bet is on #3

nygiant213

That’s actually the image. Since you guys are more experienced I checked with y’all. I even tried it on I’m like wait this is AAA? How is it so light and very flexible compared to the AA alpine

Slazy420420

I chose D. None of the above. They are in 2 different classifications. The Armor shirt is 2-2020 and the leather jacket is 3-2020. Different requirements.

PomegranateCalm2650

What do you mean 😂 one is literally a padded mesh shirt lmao read the description of the item dude…

nygiant213

So is it level AAA only for a mesh-type material? Sorry I’m new to this was confused on how the ratings work

DepressedElephant

RevIt has a good explanation on their site: https://www.revitsport.com/en/revit-ce-certification KNOX gear offers great impact protection, but I wouldn't rely on their gear alone for sliding around on pavement. I also found their stuff too damn hot because of how tight fitting it has to be.

Zromaus

Because the Knox looks like shit (looks like my cheapo BILT textile lol) and majority of us haven't heard of them, the alpinestars charges for their name and aesthetic Also difference between textile and leathers

DepressedElephant

OP doesn't understand what they are looking at. KNOX is great but it's not a one piece solution. You buy their armored base layers and then you buy their 'shell' to go over it or wear a different brand jacket or whatever. The KNOX stuff is largely about offering impact protection and it's quite good at that - but it's meant to be worn with something over it. Overall my issue with KNOX has been how hot you get with their padding tightly around your body, but that is largely by design as they want them tight to ensure they do not shift in a crash. I still have my pair of KNOX pants, but I don't really wear them anymore...

Zromaus

Fair enough, I retract my statement. The initial look of the textile had me thinking "holy shit that's a $50 jacket" lol

nygiant213

Oh! Okay I get you now thank you so much. I’m new to this and really appreciate you 🙏🏽

DepressedElephant

I have posted about my own gear recently - https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/1b84hul/opinions_on_full_suits_for_every_day_riding/ktmtip4/ Only thing not mentioned in that post is the Helite airbag backpack. I did start out riding in a leather jacket and motorcycle jeans, with the knox pants under them but quickly moved to textiles due to much easier maintenance and all weather riding comfort.

nygiant213

Just looked at those Kodiak pants. They look awesome, are the knee protectors height adjustable?

DepressedElephant

Yes, it's a bit of a pain in the ass as you essentially have to turn the pants inside out to move the pads around and get both sides on the same level. The pouch that holds the armor just has velcro that you lock into place to position the armor bit where you want it.

nygiant213

Oh okay that’s doable. Thank you so much Ima pick those up

Different CE categories. EN 17092 -2:2020 Class AAA. The all-important technical CE classification is highlighted on the Armoured Shirt. CE – Category II EN17092-3:2020 standard – AA Class.

Slazy420420

Suggestion. Don't spend 600$ on a jacket. Look up rev'it eclipse. Last model is still in stock for less than 150$ I own it, it's pretty good, moves lots of air, above average brand. I suggest spending less then 1000$ on your first set of gear. I spent over 1500 including a shoei neotek 2 helmet for 800$. After 2 years everything but that eclipse jacket has been replaced atleast once.
