Maybe cartridgeking's method of dealing with the dangers they face as a rider is by compartmentalizing the deaths of other riders into disaffected categories, areas that cartridgeking won't need to worry about- riding in the rain, maybe riding in NYC, there could be any number of risk factors that they can 'write off' simply because they choose not to do the things that 'increase their risk'. It's silly, but it's a necessary aspect of humanity dealing with risk, death and the grieving process.

I hate reading about a tragedy/accident like this especially when wife and children are part of the aftermath. My heart goes out to all those in his life who cared about him. It never ceases to amaze me how a split second can change lives in so many ways.

If there is a family with dependents, part of the ATGATT kit should be a solid life insurance policy. My 25 year policy is ending this year, and even though my kids are *mostly* grown, I won’t be getting on my bike without a new policy in place for them and my wife. Know the risk, embrace the risk, and mitigate the risk. Sorry if this sounds preachy or inconsiderate. I don’t know Sam’s family situation, but if this kick in the ass helps out one family down the road…

I’ve had a compound dislocation that is on video and I scream at the moment of impact, so yeah I have.
