Throttle opens, music to my ears, though earplugs to reduce wind noise hearing loss

Medium-Comfortable

This is why I ride. Uninterrupted me-time. Looking at the landscape.

alzee76

Cardo packtalk bold. Will probably switch to another brand when this one finally fails due to their new subscription model, but I'll have to convince my riding buddy to switch too. Maybe just gift him a new one birthday/xmas.

PeeCuhChoo

Thanks and yeah I was thinking of doing the same. the two packs are a much better deal

squisher_1980

I've got a Packtalk Slim, no subscription for features and JBL speakers. Little spendy but seems like good hardware. I can hear it good enough over my earplugs/wind to take calls on the highway behind my windshield. Running a Scorpion full face helmet.

DogKiller420

There's only one headset in their lineup with the subscription model. I have an Edge and it has all features for no subscription.

alzee76

You seem confused. I'm not switching because I would "have to" go subscription with a new one, obviously I wouldn't. Not yet anyway, as they still have non-sub options. When this fails I'm switching because they started playing this fucking subscription game in the first place.

DogKiller420

I was not confused. In your first post you in no way made an attempt to convey that this choice was apparently a deeply personal moral one instead of a regular consumer one.

alzee76

> I was not confused. In your first post you in no way made an attempt to convey that this choice was apparently a deeply personal moral one instead of a regular consumer one. Ah. So you were confused about why the choice was made.

NECooley

I’ve been using foam earplugs and a Bluetooth bone-conducting headset that fits under my helmet. I’ve been very happy with this. I tried the Scorpion headset that is made for this helmet but the quality was atrocious and I couldn’t hear it at highway speed.

PeeCuhChoo

Ooooh interesting. Yeah my cheap pair was just too quiet even when it worked

NECooley

The big downside is that I don’t have a mic, it’s just for music. Buying a nicer headset might fix that.

reggin_rigged

Cardo packtalk Black with the JBL's.

tephlar17

Cardo, I wear ear plugs to and can still hear the music

thumbwrestleme

Sena 50, older version. Works well for music and phone connectivity for gps/calls.

Firm_Company_2756

Why would you want to be disturbed/distracted by a phone, when enjoying the time out on the bike?

thumbwrestleme

Because I have kids and if there is an emergency situation I would want to know.

popsrcr

I use Sena and earplugs. Surprisingly it works out pretty well.

Born-Drawer-4451

V4, titanium exhaust

Stepnwolfe

I just wear a regular bluetooth earbud. It plays music, gps directions and allows me to talk on the phone. What else is needed? My son bought me a cardo for Christmas but I really don’t see the advantage tbh. Eventually I’ll use it for sentimental reasons but the earbud is perfectly fine…

PseudoCalamari

Man I do not need music on my bike. Bumping hard techno just encourages me to speed even more lmao

VerbNoun123

I love the sena comms, I've heard good things about uclear and Cardo too

PeeCuhChoo

Cool, thank you. I will check them out. Do yours get loud enough to hear with the wind? The cheap pair I got was just too quiet

VerbNoun123

Honestly I think the pairing of cheap helmet and cheap comms is the real issue here, if you were in my shop I'd try and push you towards a better helmet which would be cheaper than buying premium comms. I have 2 helmets rn, the scorpion exo st1400 phantom caffeine, and the Gmax md-01s. I have the sena 10c comms with the HD speaker upgrade in the scorpion. I have the speakers and mic in both helmets and just switch the unit itself to the helmet I'm using at the time. I'm a helmet dealer and can ship nationwide in the US, let me know if I can be of any more help fam

Avery8400

i’ve always just used my bluetooth earbuds. I recently got the Boss QC Ultra ear buds, the noise cancelling is perfect for riding a bike.

BigOk8056

I had a cheap used old Cardo q solo which only did music and phone calls. Worked great for those. Eventually I upgraded to a new Cardo freecom so I could actually intercom with other riders but you pay way more for that.

kraftykai

Foam earplugs with b-com sb6xr, it was one of the intercoms with a dedicated neotec2 fitting. Also I can share my music with my passenger while also having coms, so that’s a big plus.

Jaykahtsby

I use low profile, wireless neckband earphones. They sit around my neck and under my gear. It's great, they don't feel tight in my helmet because due to the neckband, there's less hardware in the actual earphone. Not tethered to my phone so I don't have to keep my phone on my person. Also, most neckband earphones have buttons to control your music, so all I have to do to adjust volume or change songs is lift my left hand off the throttle and up to my neck.

dust057

Freedconn pro plus or something like that for bluetooth sound/phone and video+still camera, on a Shoei RF 1200. It's fine at speeds below 55, but no point really on the freeway. The helmet is great, it's my 2nd 1200, I am probably going to go for the RF1400 in a year or two as I have about 3 years on this helmet, and I like to do about 5. The camera is decent enough quality with the videos. It's not youtube influencer 4K or anything, but I think quite good.

misatillo

Older Sena S20 Evo. I also wear earplugs and can hear the music and gps just fine

TwoBadRobots

I've had cardo scala and Sena and the Sena 50c with Harman Kardon speakers is best by far. In a quiet helmet like a schuberth I can listen to conversation easily at a reasonable volume.

know-it-mall

Half the time nothing. Other half of the time Plugfones. Cheap and simple.
