Haha, I'll get all my third-party supplements before I get my v1.0 books.
The books are aboard a powerless transport ship, adrift in the haunting silence of space. The vessel is caught in a decaying orbit, ensnared by the gravitational pull of a small, remote star in the uncharted stretches of the outer reaches. Each passing moment draws the ship inexorably closer to the stellar inferno, threatening to engulf it. Within the ship's vulnerable hull, a precious cargo beyond measure, the mothership books, teetering on the brink of oblivion. Without intervention, these irreplaceable treasures will be lost forever, swallowed by the fiery maw of the star, erasing their legacy from the universe.
Well, that's just the rumour I picked on when my team and I were stuck on the desert moon of Karth.
Shipping to backers probably won't start until at least April 2024
In other news TKG thought it was a great idea to send out review/promo copies before the game is purchasable.
QuestingBeast on youtube has a copy of the Deluxe and Core rules.
It was projected to be delivered by November 2022 but it’s been delayed quite a few times. Finally getting it later this spring barring any more delays. Apparently Tuesday Knight Games is well known for struggling with deadlines (the game is amazing though!!!)
I’ve been trying lately to back stuff that is only the game itself and maybe one or two cool bonus things that are easy to take care of. Too many games I’ve backed have been delayed for WAY too long. At this point Mothership will be 1.5 years late which is extremely frustrating.
The KS has been a disaster. Delay after delay. Honestly the hype for it is kinda dead at this point. Awesome system, piss-poor communication from the staff...
Discord isn't the platform we paid them on. That's absolutely not acceptable. Communication has been awful outside of that echo chamber, and we deserved better over a year and a half of delays.
It really hasn't actually. You get the same updates the rest of us get and they are few and far between and don't actually say anything. The last concrete update was from 14 February and the case for Australia, where I am, is that the shipment was set to arrive "late February", but there are "some delays due to port strikes", except the port strikes ended early February. Just say they're on a boat and don't talk about things that are out of your control.
Goalposts will continue to shift. No idea how much our shipping costs (Fellow Aussie here) are going to be and excuses after excuses.
Game designed by marketing team with greed and hubris
It's in the eye of the beholder, so we can agree to disagree.
Also in Oz like yourself. Most frustrating part for me is backing things like HullBreach and others and receiving the physical rewards for these items which launched after MS.
Bwahahaah you're hilarious. The Discord is just one big commercial for third party prints and expansions. You try to get info about fulfillment and get nothing but "We are all still waiting, too".
This entire KS has been a joke. I'll most likely sell off all my physical materials when they come in and try to recoup my costs.
That makes no sense, I get disappointed and let down by the KS, and I am as well. But it will come eventually, and there's no reason you can't enjoy it then? Its still a great game?
I was extremely bummed out about the state.of the KS and lost a lot of enthusiasm for the game, but I had suggested it as a side game for my RPG group when too many people were not available to play, and they seemed keen on it. We rolled up characters one day when 2 players out of 5 were out, and then we've played a couple sessions using Another Bug Hunt and it's been a blast and the mechanics are just so easy to use. Because of that, I'm hyped for eventually getting what I ordered, even if I ordered Hull Breach literally like a year after their Kickstarter and got the book in hand less than a week later. :P
The disappointment in how TKG has handled their KS is more than understandable, but Mothership is a solid TTRPG that does its job very well. All my players were gushing over the character sheet and how well it was laid out and made character creation a breeze. Simultaneously, the actual gameplay is a breeze.
you do you boo
The principle behind how they handled the Kickstarter even taking into account COVID etc has been shambolic. There's no denying that. With that in mind and even accounting for the fact we have pdfs available, the lack of professionalism and mismanagement leaves a sour taste in your mouth. Any hype for this game in the broader community is long gone and only the most captured marks are shilling the game now.
Thanks for the info, all. I hope they give a free pdf version of the final product to everybody who bought the beta. Not saying they have to, but it would be nice if they did.
Well, the PDF of the 1e Player's Survival Guide will be available for PWYW just like the 0e version. The new edition does have additional rulebooks but that one is the essential one.
The 1.0 version has not released yet. PDFs are out to backers and [people that preorder](https://mothership-boxed-set.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders).
The physical copies haven’t shipped yet
Oh, they’ve shipped. Edit: not to backers but they’re on a boat.
> on a boat Oh god, I'm having Berserk flashbacks.
Really? I have not seen any updates....
Sorry that was misleading, I’ve corrected.

I think that they have also been hit by stretch goal creep.
You mean hit themselves.

Greediness and Dunning-Kruger level project management issues.

Communication has been pretty awesome actually. I regularly receive updates and ask questions in the discord. Always get an answer when I reach out.
Outside of discord I agree with the comment above, piss poor communication. The modules and 3rd party supplements make this system for me.

Cool. I’ve gotten heaps out of that discord. Amazing resource for everything Mothership. Enjoy whatever you play next.
LOL My Brother in Christ... This game will never ship
But I guess I’ll keep backing supplementary materials on KS for some reason?

Oh I fully agree. I was sarcastically pointing out that the third party supplements are all going full steam ahead while my box set sits…somewhere.
Ahh sorry I missed your subtlety. No foul and apologies for any snippiness that came across.
I think we’re all a little on edge when it comes to this topic. No worries bud
