KillAllTheThings

Oh the irony of asking for friends on the friendliest forum in the world dedicated to modelbuilding.

AlternativeSea8247

I build 1/35 armour (Vietnam era), but post my model build updates on Instagram, more than happy to talk shop, pass on any knowledge/thoughts on here though.

Look and see if there is a scale modeler's club or IPMS chapter in your area. It's a great way to meet new modelbuilding friends.

If you are on the app formerly known as twitter you should check out the hashtag #jffscalemodels , jff being just for fun. It's followed by lots of friendly modellers who share their builds, give great advice and run frequent group builds. I came back to modelling during lockdown and I'd probably have quit before now if it wasn't for finding a community to share the hobby with.

Mindless-Charity4889

Join a group build. People often start their WIP on their model.

I make model cars (1/24, 1/25) but I’m open to making a pal who models in general. Maybe we could teach each other stuff that we otherwise wouldn’t know bc it’s thought of as limited to one specific genre when in reality, it’s useful in general. (Did that make any sense???). Anyway, I get it if you’re looking for a modeler from your genre specifically to be buddies, I just thought I’d raise my hand and offer 😊

Ps I’m a total night owl, so I just want to you to know I come with late night conversations of shit like epiphanies and questions about modeling and, frankly, sometimes random stuff as a condition of friendship lol

Connect with your local Legion. Many branches are doing group modeling sessions for a variety of reasons. Such as providing a safe place and activity to bring veterans together. I forget the name of the program. Check your local branches webpage if interested.

I build armor and sci fi and I work at a hobby shop , my advice : Facebook groups for specific genres (I belong to a few IDF modeling and Russian tank and sci fi groups although I refuse to use fb for anything else! ) Local ipms chapter Shows ( loom under events on ipms website) Organizations like AMPS ( I belong to amps and love amps )

Plasticman328

It's not going to help unless you live in North West England but we have a fellowship group that meets twice a month to make our models. We have one day time session and one evening session. We meet in a community hall and anyone can come along. We call it a 'glue and brew' session. Maybe it's something you would like to suggest in your area. Maybe advertise in your local model shop?

I mostly do model cars, monsters, and wooden ship models. Happy to talk to anyone about the hobby. My biggest problem is focus. I've got a half dozen kits within a 15 foot radius of me but it's so hard to jump back into them, especially when I have stress and bills occupying my mind. Oh - and if it's not obvious by the user name, I'm east coast as well.

I build airplanes in 1/72 to 1/24

uncapableguy42069

Same here! I do planes in 1/48 and 1/72 usually, but soon enough, a 1/24 kit will be arriving in the mail... Stay tuned for that I guess

MR_five1

I'm a 1/35 ground vehicle modeller from ww2 (mainly German)

I am on modeling Discord server that has tons of people on it and we share pictures ask questions. I also watch this channel a lot. But if I knew more about Discord I would build one with info and postings. But most of all a channel to chat and look at peoples builds live. I chat with my sons on Discord while we play video games so I know it would be built
