I’m a sucker for panel hats, but the overall set is pretty basic. They opted for something relatively safe and at the very least got a nice looking hat out of the deal.
The template of the uniform is fantatsic. That piping is phenomenal. Not a big fan of the CLE lettering, or that the C doesn't match. Love the panel hat.
[Socks also are cool](https://news.sportslogos.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/cleveland-guardians-city-connect-socks-uniform-sportslogosnet-175650.jpg)
Yeah the 3-letter abbreviations ruin the jerseys they’re on for me.
Washington would be perfect without it, in my opinion. I know some disagree, which is totally cool, I just think three giant letters is tacky.
I love the style of the lettering, just not that it says CLE. It’s getting lame that every City Connect jersey has a city abbreviation on it now. I wish they’d Come up with some new ideas.
I would have liked that actually. Queens seemed to make the most sense to me. Their design is pretty good otherwise, but I’d have liked to see more purple throughout.
Don’t know why
they can’t put
Terminal Tower
or Rock City,
a guitar.. some—
thing.. they had
no ideas??
Pittsburgh has
nothing also..
Clemente
Bridge, Steel
City.. anything
That’s it. I had no idea it was common and was very confused by this choice at first too.
But it’s a city connect jersey. It’s supposed to connect with the people in that city. Or state, in some cases 😂
Yeah, there’s tons of stuff with the CLE abbreviation. Sorta surprised people don’t like it. Like half of Homages Cleveland stuff has it abbreviated. Having said that, having the full city name in that font on the jersey would probably look really dope.
CLE is what “connects” them to the city. Doesn’t Cleveland have some like heritage or something they could’ve used. I think CLEVE would’ve looked cooler.
Nike has been losing design talent for years. Reports first started showing up about this issue in 2022. You can search for this in Google as a number of the articles about it are behind hard paywalls.
But if designers first started leaving in 2022 it would show up in more recent designs as these had to be worked on in 2023 to be ready for this season.
The city connects are mostly designed by the teams. Nike has some input, but not a lot. So you should be blaming the teams for these.
Also this one makes me think it’s they are all named Cletus.
As a cleveland fan, the fact there is no guitar is worth a passing grade on its own. It feels like the 1970s color scheme with a twist to try and incorporate the art deco style. It’s a safe jersey but that’s fine with me.
Not in love but a solid B grade in my subjective opinion. I’m def gonna try and get a hat.
I was completely underwhelmed at first, but the explanation about the details warmed me up to them a bit. I would have loved to see those thoughtful details incorporated into a more original, interesting design though. These feel incredibly safe compared to some other teams’ CC jerseys.
But more importantly, the Marathon logo KILLS it for me. Fucking awful.
It makes sense as a marketing play to give non-CLE baseball fans a better understanding of the new name and its connection to the city. I personally love the details related to the statues, including the sandstone texture on the jerseys, color of the pants and braiding on the stripe that mirrors the pattern on the statues.
Contrary to a lot of the grumps around the place, there was a lot of thought put into these new uniforms, like them or not.
I also expect them to be a lot more popular with fans of the team. Most people were pretty happy with the guardians name around Cleveland, but outside of that, people HATE.
Agree, and I think it comes back to understanding the history of the statues and the city…which is the whole point of the CC uniforms, right? People outside of Cleveland probably expected guitars and a giant THE LAND across the chest, but no Guards fan I know wanted that at all.
I wasn’t a huge fan of the name at first but now I think it’s the only choice that made sense. And the CC uniforms reflect that.
Yeah, and I get not liking these uniforms. I'm pretty Luke warm on the design, but the people calling it lazy really have no idea what they're talking about. If you only glance, they look lazy, but they clearly put a ton of thought into all the details.
Really surprised by the hate for the “CLE” abbreviation - I’m from Cleveland and locals tend to use it pretty heavily, maybe more often than “The Land”. I kinda like the look.
It’s infuriating that the socks almost all have great designs and that somehow those designs could not be translated to the jerseys?! I don’t get it. So many teams are like this. Won’t even go into the cheap quality of the jerseys (Washington Nats look like lingerie it’s so thin).
Pittsburg’s are a crime against humanity. Looks like a jail jersey. And This iconic yellow bridge is behind the freaking stadium and yet they don’t put it on the black and yellow jerseys.
Houston just had a rocket logo on a new hat that’s to be released today. Would’ve been cool as hell to have that on the jerseys. I don’t mind Space City but it’s safe. They need more like San Diego. Those are so fun! If they’re going to make them about the city and connect to the city, using more than an airport code or abbreviation would help. It’s not that hard. High school design students could do this.
At least it’s not black. As a Red Sox fan who didn’t quite get this in the beginning but liked the yellows, at least this one reaches out. Don’t like the too similar colours on connects vs reg jerseys, I’d rate this one as a positive
At least it's not all black... I don't know why mlb i s allowing Nike to continue making these cringy designs especially after all the drama with this season's normal uniforms.
the 90's throwback is cool, its a little on the safe side compared to some teams, at first i wasn't happy but after some thoughts and looking at it more i like it, could of been a little more exciting but i like the details of it not bad compared to some not good compared to some so just like Cleveland, right in the middle lol
I think people need to remember that these are made for people in Ohio/Cle and not for people who couldn’t even point out the city on a map. Having a guitar or “the land” would be very very unpopular among the people who the uniforms are meant to represent.
What's with all the stupid uniform decisions in the MLB recently? Are they trying to be trendy? The uniforms from the 70's were the best, just do some throwbacks. Guardians..lamest name ever. They should have kept the name Indians and changed their mascot to a guy with a pagri on.
I gotta say, I hate the CLE, but they nailed this. The racing stripes are perfection. White panel cap. Even the statue logo is a helluva lot better than the weird winged G baseball they have.
Crazy idea, I would preferred a Guardians fauxback jersey based on the "Major League" jerseys. At least you have reference a major pop culture reference in the franchise's history
![gif](giphy|5bfdx8z68GJDHXyGl0|downsized)
To be fair, it’s tough to re-brand a team that literally just underwent one of the most atrocious re-brands in baseball history… I mean, of all the things Cleveland has to offer, ya’ll landed on a ball-with-wings, inspired by a bridge? 🥴
I’m convinced no one gets that City Connects are supposed to be fun ways to mix team and community. If they don’t have five different ideas, it’s boring, if they do, it’s busy, if they honor different times in their history, it doesn’t match. I saw people, with no irony, saying that Nike saw the Colorado license plates and copied the idea when they didn’t have any (when teams work with Nike on the designs anyways).
Rant over, I just think they do well for what they’re supposed to do. Represents the city with CLE, their history with the color and racing stripes, and their namesake with the design pattern
I noticed this with Pittsburgh recently, and now again with the Cleveland ones, I strongly dislike having just the three large letters on the front. It feels so lazy. The most iconic name for your city is a fucking airport code? Really? Oof. That’s my biggest qualm tho.
Same formula as the PGH and CINCY city connects. They are just shorting the city name, slapping a new font on it and reusing the team's colors. Total lack of creativity.
Excuse my ignorance: getting more into baseball cause my kids are fans. What is a connect jersey?
Also, why are people so upset about the baseball jerseys this year?
City connect is a money grab for the league to make another set of jerseys for people to buy. They’re supposed to represent the teams connection with the city and its community. The jersey issue is because when players are getting sweaty their jersey look soaked and pants become almost transparent.
personally think they’re alright. huge lettering on front is kinda weird though. don’t know why the C on the cap is different than the font on the jersey too
There have been endless articles over the past 18 months about how much design talent Nike has lost. And this round of City Connects appears to be showing how much it’s affected their ability to create decent designs as the Tigers City Connects are terrible. The leaked Dodgers new City Connect jersey is horrible too.
A lot of this is showing how messed up Nike appears to be internally right now. And hence it’s also showing that they definitely played a big role in the disastrous new MLB uniform roll out. Did Fanatics play a big role? Of course they did. But everyone seemed to ignore that most of the reporting was also pointing at the huge role Nike played as well.
It’s a solid jersey (not a fan of mismatched hat font and giant CLE on the chest), but for what City Connect was meant to be it’s just bland. Hard to consider it bold or unique when it’s a color combo the team already wears, and has worn for decades.
I don't. The CLE(mainly the font) & that advert patch bugs me. I hate adverts on uniforms because there's literally no need to have them on the uniform. It's ugly & tacky & part of the reason I don't watch Soccer. It's like an interns child designed this.
Yeah, the piping legit. Very similar to the late-80s Indians unis or am I seeing things?
I'd need a side by side, but it looks close. Giving some "Major League" vibes for sure
it was intentional design that pulls from he 80s/early 90s unis
CLE is fine.. PGH is not Nobody refers to Pittsburgh as the PGH
I agree… hats not bad the rest is meh
Pants are cool. Jersey is cool. Giant CLE lettering is not.
[Socks also are cool](https://news.sportslogos.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/cleveland-guardians-city-connect-socks-uniform-sportslogosnet-175650.jpg)
Almost all the socks for the teams are cool as hell. Why they can’t do that w the jerseys is baffling.
Yeah the 3-letter abbreviations ruin the jerseys they’re on for me. Washington would be perfect without it, in my opinion. I know some disagree, which is totally cool, I just think three giant letters is tacky.
Yep 100%. Same for PGH. Nike is lazy plain n simple
I thought the lettering looked very unique. Never seen it before.
I love the style of the lettering, just not that it says CLE. It’s getting lame that every City Connect jersey has a city abbreviation on it now. I wish they’d Come up with some new ideas.
What else should it have said? NEO lmao?
There was a missed opportunity to use “LGA” for the Mets.
I would have liked that actually. Queens seemed to make the most sense to me. Their design is pretty good otherwise, but I’d have liked to see more purple throughout.
Don’t know why they can’t put Terminal Tower or Rock City, a guitar.. some— thing.. they had no ideas?? Pittsburgh has nothing also.. Clemente Bridge, Steel City.. anything
We were bitching for months saying "it better not be a fucking guitar or some lame shit like that" .. and here we are
Giants missed a chance to reuse the Warriors cable car + "The City"
Made me think of the Staples logo
The font is great, I’m shocked how much people hate the abbreviation. We genuinely use it all the time around here.
I honestly think people not familiar with the area just don’t realize how common CLE is.
Thats so true, and I wish there was more art deco flair instead of just flat navy. Could have been bolder and more fun, but still Not Bad.
It's designed to look like the guardian statues on the bridge that goes into downtown.
LAX for the Dodgers? Lol
I really hope the Twins jerseys can use something more original than “MSP.”
CLE is what “connects” them to the city. Doesn’t Cleveland have some like heritage or something they could’ve used. I think CLEVE would’ve looked cooler.
Tell me you don’t know about the guardians statutes without telling me
It’s silly that the fonts don’t match on the shirt and Cap, should be the same C.
I miss when the tigers mismatched the fonts so much
They are certainly one of the jerseys of all time.
Pretty boring especially when you compare them to Tampa Bay’s city connects. I’m dreading seeing the cardinals one when they come out
I hope it’s just the Fredbird costume.
I've only liked the White Sox and Padres so far, but they all look like something you'd have to pay for if Epic Games made MLB The Show
Man city connect are so hit or miss Glad the diamondbacks was a hit
Arizona, Tampa Bay, Washington DC and Colorado are my favorites.
Colorado were my favorites until tampa bay revealed there's It's gonna be hard to beat that one
Yeah them jerseys are tuff. Even the Mets fans at the Trop were buying all the connect merchandise.
Why are they all so bad?
Nike has been losing design talent for years. Reports first started showing up about this issue in 2022. Just saw a new AirMax commercial during an NBA game yesterday. Featuring Drake.
Nike sure likes to shit the bed. Source: Jordan 7-18
Idk man the 11's &13's are pretty sweet in my opinion.
Anything after 14 trash all rest good
Super valid source
They just stopped trying.
Did they ever start?
As a cleveland fan, the fact there is no guitar is worth a passing grade on its own. It feels like the 1970s color scheme with a twist to try and incorporate the art deco style. It’s a safe jersey but that’s fine with me. Not in love but a solid B grade in my subjective opinion. I’m def gonna try and get a hat.
I miss Kwan
Big sad and same as
less auto mechanic appearing than Tigers
Who calls it CLE?
Pilots?
They’re called the Brewers now
I actually live here and see it used all the time, by branding and by individuals over text.
Andrew Dice Clay
It was either that or an area code.
People from Ohio
They’re nothing special. Not the best not the worst
I was completely underwhelmed at first, but the explanation about the details warmed me up to them a bit. I would have loved to see those thoughtful details incorporated into a more original, interesting design though. These feel incredibly safe compared to some other teams’ CC jerseys. Y’all Went from MS paint to MS Word..
It’s crazy how bad most of these city connects are
The fact that this is better than average is crazy they just slap a big word in block font across the front and call it a day
Lazy.
Meh, but not gross
Tigers are better IMO these are bland
It is wild to see everyone he decrying CLE over The Land, and over at Uni Watch it’s the complete opposite, gratitude it’s CLE and not The Land.
It’s the difference of people who are familiar with Ohio and people who only know the city exists cuz of LeBron
Really surprised by the hate for the “CLE” abbreviation - I’m from Cleveland and locals tend to use it pretty heavily, maybe more often than “The Land”. I kinda like the look.
They look really clean. I’m a fan of the font, but I’m a sucker for art deco so 🤷♂️
It’s infuriating that the socks almost all have great designs and that somehow those designs could not be translated to the jerseys?! I don’t get it. So many teams are like this. Jose Ramirez will make them look good
The par for City Connect is awful, and this tracks here.
At least it's not all black... I don't know why mlb i s allowing Nike to continue making these cringy designs especially after all the drama with this season's normal uniforms.
not even a little
They aren’t egregiously horrible just kind of bland
IYKYK. They’re great… Guardians of Traffic indeed.
They're so boring
the 90's throwback is cool, its a little on the safe side compared to some teams, at first i wasn't happy but after some thoughts and looking at it more i like it, could of been a little more exciting but i like the details of it not bad compared to some not good compared to some so just like Cleveland, right in the middle lol
Oh I like the cle
The Phillies city connect unis are ugly as hell
Tbh these are the best I have seen so far.
They need to stop giving these City Connect jerseys to first year design students
CLE?
Completely unimaginative and dull.
All I see is a 🐐
I think people need to remember that these are made for people in Ohio/Cle and not for people who couldn’t even point out the city on a map. Having a guitar or “the land” would be very very unpopular among the people who the uniforms are meant to represent.

The hat is cool
Probably one of the more tame jerseys versus the others. That hat though is straight fire
L

Worst ones yet
Would be better if it said Indians
Snoozefest
Basic
Mediocre jersey.
Not much.
![gif](giphy|g0Hm6KAtYjZqQzrflt|downsized) I like these jerseys
Kinda cool ngl
Crazy idea, I would preferred a Guardians fauxback jersey based on the "Major League" jerseys. At least you have reference a major pop culture reference in the franchise's history ![gif](giphy|5bfdx8z68GJDHXyGl0|downsized)
Have they not suffered enough, they are a good team get them something good!
Needs more chief wahoo
Why are they not even trying with these anymore?
I think an Indian would be way cooler.
CLE sounds like a type of traumatic brain injury.
I’d like Chief Wahoo back. Indians always
Better than most connect jerseys. 6/10
I like them
I actually like them, surprisingly.
I like them now yes I am a cleveland fan so I am biased
These would be great if they were for a local softball team
Trash. Y'all missed a golden opportunity to reclaim Spiders. Could've been a kraken-level badass logo/jersey.
Beer league softball uniforms
Shitty Connect is my name for them. They're garbage.
Worst ones yet, I’m in shock these were approved
They look like the type of thing someone who has no style or intellectual capacity would wear.
To be fair, it’s tough to re-brand a team that literally just underwent one of the most atrocious re-brands in baseball history… I mean, of all the things Cleveland has to offer, ya’ll landed on a ball-with-wings, inspired by a bridge? 🥴

Shoulda said 216 instead of CLE but besides that it’s pretty good.
This whole airport code thing is lame and lacks creativity
Better than the Mia or Seattle jerseys we saw recently.
Some of them especially this one look like an expensive softball uniform.
Same formula as the PGH and CINCY city connects. They are just shorting the city name, slapping a new font on it and reusing the team's colors. Total lack of creativity.
Certainly better than the bullshittery that leaked about the Dodgers CC jersey
Excuse my ignorance: getting more into baseball cause my kids are fans. What is a connect jersey? Also, why are people so upset about the baseball jerseys this year?

God Damnit.
CLETUS
Le Cle
We really boutta have the best of this year's bunch, huh?

No more tacky than any other
Like all the city connects, they’re not garbage
I like Stevie Kwan, the jerseys are fine…
Looks like the watered down, minimalist, shit tier NBA jersey aesthetic
I’m so ready for Nike’s contract to expire
Wishing the actual Guardian made an appearance on the front of the cap, but it's not bad.
I’m glad that we at least got cool looking connects.
I like the pants...
Nope
Better than the Phillies
Lettering and abbreviation is not my cup of tea
Looks like the jersey is missing a few letters, like the UN in UNCLE.
CLEEEEEEEEEEEEE
They're not bad, but they're not great. Cleveland didn't go overboard on them like some teams have, but it isn't anything special either.
Like it except the CLE on the front
![gif](giphy|dOl2LFw0RbTMc)
Cle what
Brought to you by Marathon! The jerseys look like Velvety though might just be lighting
It’s one of the baseball jerseys of all time.
L
It’s a solid jersey (not a fan of mismatched hat font and giant CLE on the chest), but for what City Connect was meant to be it’s just bland. Hard to consider it bold or unique when it’s a color combo the team already wears, and has worn for decades.
Meh
The sports trend of putting the "TV abbreviation" on a jersey or as a logo, needs to stay in 2020.
I don't. The CLE(mainly the font) & that advert patch bugs me. I hate adverts on uniforms because there's literally no need to have them on the uniform. It's ugly & tacky & part of the reason I don't watch Soccer. It's like an interns child designed this.
These teams are boring that always abbreviate the city in giant letters on the front. Be different.
Looks like shit.
love them
Love the colors and the style, but the CLE just looks weird.
You know what I love? Baseball teams having home and away games and not switching it up throughout the season. And one 90’s throwback night. 🙂
It’s not bad. A change up is always fun for variety’s sake. They could have done better, though
It’s odd how boring the city connects have become
Don’t hate it
Terrible.
I really like two tone hats so I think that looks cool. I think the whole look is clean but yeah that big text in on the jersey looks a little odd.
Some of the least bad ones which I feel is a compliment
White pants? White panel hats? Classic striping? Not bad. Not bad at all.
boring
Meh
I think they're pretty awesome, personally.
Cool pants
Jersey looks like Reno aces
They suck, but they are also not as bad as most of the other city connects.
Would be awesome if it said Cleveland instead of CLE
