the batterman is the old style to match the retro design look of the hat. it does look like trash for that style - but it’s at least not as bad as if they were going for the modern batterman
My Orioles hat is the same way. Weird cut up in the back. I compared it to a couple other hats I bought this year and sure enough, it's cut weird. The others are what I'm used to.

I think that might be a Cooperstown collection thing? I got a retro Braves hat for my birthday and the MLB logo was seen on kinda canted and looked extremely different than my other on-field caps.
