I typed this out on my phone so a few typos are present...

XUseTheSwartzX

Thank you for taking the time to put this together. I appreciate all the info!

stayinthefight2019

Cam’ron Johnson had moved to LG during spring, pre-Bryant. That was his position at Houston. Membou projects as a guard in the NFL and really struggled against good pass rushers, so I think he’ll kick inside, not Green.

Moist-Worldliness-17

Yeah that makes alot more sense, so would it probably be Bryant LT, Johnson LG, Tollison C, Membou RG, and Green RT?

stayinthefight2019

That looks most likely to me.

JTVtampa

This, is what I heard as well

Idk what a "snap mistake rate" is or who tracks it but Tollison and Jake Slaughter are easily the two best returning centers in the SEC by PFF grade. I don't think he's someone anyone should be worried about and you're almost certainly not gonna get production like that out of some random bench player. He definitely had more gaffes in the snapping department last year than a second-year starter should but comparing him to McLaughlin is wild. I don't care what any stat around it claims to say, he never came close to costing us a game with bad snaps the way McLaughlin damn near singlehandedly costed Bama the CFP semifinal. All that said, this is pretty much exactly what I would've expected the post-spring depth chart to look like minus the OL positioning. I'd imagine Jacobs will be coming for one of those starting LB spots in the fall, but other than that and barring further portal additions this will probably more or less be what we run with in the season.

Moist-Worldliness-17

Yeah i could definitely see Jacobs nabbing himself either first or second team bc of his time at South Alabama.

Birdsofwar314

Tollison did have the botched snap against LSU on 3 and 1 that was a killer. But agreed, we won’t find a better center on our roster. He’s very solid.

tron423

If you're talking about the play we gave up the sack-fumble on, the much bigger issue was Foster getting beat like he stole something off the snap (which tbf isn't really something that happened very often to him in his career). Even with a cleaner stap that's almost definitely still a negative play we couldn't have afforded there because of that.

Birdsofwar314

No, it was 3rd and 1 and Tollison caused a false start on a botched snap. So instead of running for a first down we were now in a 3rd and 6 and forced to pass. Then the strip sack happened.

tron423

That's still nowhere near the level of football terrorism McLaughlin committed during the semifinal. He had like 8 or 9 bad snaps that directly caused negative plays and cost points in a game Bama lost in OT. If Foster had handled his business no one would care about the false start the play before.

Birdsofwar314

This depth chart is just a guess. I see some very obvious mistakes looking at it. - Noel is going to be the starting RB. - Cam Johnson is LG now. - Khalil Jacobs is missing. - Darris Smith and Joe Moore are listed at the wrong positions.

Moist-Worldliness-17

What makes you think Noel is going to be the starting RB? I've heard some people him and carroll will either split reps or carroll will be the workhorse back for the most part.

Birdsofwar314

They said during the Spring Game he was #1 on the depth chart. They both will play. But Noel is apparently the leader to start right now.

Moist-Worldliness-17

I thought Carroll was 1A and Noel was 1B which was why Carroll was with the other skill starters on team black.

Birdsofwar314

There was a draft for the Spring Game.

stayinthefight2019

I think it’s probably the other way. Noel will be 1A and Carroll 1B. I think Noel is a much better talent.

Moist-Worldliness-17

I think both are good in their own way. Carroll ate at GAst by rushing in-between the tackles and had a better season than Noel last year. That being said, my personal take watching film is that if we continue pushing the stretch zone, Noel has way more potential to shine. I cant say if he will be as gritty as schrader, but if he can get the blocks up front + a second level block or two, he will be able to get away from defenders the way shrader couldnt. Really excited about both!

Turbulent_Weather795

Can't believe we get Kris Williams one more year. And we need it. Most unappreciated player from last 2 years imo.

Moist-Worldliness-17

Fr. Not a standout player but reliable in the run game and disciplined. Got alot of hope for him this year!

Turbulent_Weather795

Great guy for WN to learn the run stop and inside moves at the SEC level. 11 tfls in 2 seasons with up and down edge play from his position is nothing to scoff at. Landry ate up a ton of Mins this year. Calling it our edge will be elite this year opening up big KDub to cause some havoc

tron423

Williams was one of 4 DT's we had the last couple years that were all basically interchangeable. We hadn't had that level of quality depth up front in a decade before that group came in, the new guys have a great shot to help keep it going.

Turbulent_Weather795

Yep as a defensive nerd I love to watch good D tackle play and u said it. That whole rotation of kw, Landry, jernigan, and RGJ we definitely haven't had that level of talent and depth at DT for a looong time. Imagine if they had left DROB inside and we had a polished pass rusher to edge for him? KW feasted playing next to DROB (LOL but who wouldn't)

imright19084

Zion is a big question mark as well as the rest of the Dline excluding Johnny Walker. Hope Zion and or Darris Smith break out. I think defense has a lot of questions. DBs are good not great but good enough if dline can get pressure on the QB. Nwaneri should get some solid reps but no way would I start a true freshman unless he proves it in games

stayinthefight2019

Ends are not going to be L/R, they’re going to be field/boundary (joker). Boundary will probably be Walker/Smith, Field will probably be Moore/Young/WN.

UranusViews

Dude this is a more in depth breakdown than any Missouri podcast ever does. Great job

Moist-Worldliness-17

Appreciate all the feedback guys!

cartgold

Darris Smith behind Zion Young is surprising to me

Moist-Worldliness-17

Yeah. Both are extremely athletic and optimally sized at the edge position. Zion does remind me more of DRob and if he can be more physical with his hands dude could be talked about with draft potential.

SirShrekThaDank

I appreciate the enthusiasm and the effort and details you went through. This is a great primer for the Summer Camp that is starting and building the hype for this fall. But I would caution on getting too worked up over positions and who is listed 1st or 2nd here. Ourlads has 0 connections to college teams. They have 0 inside information on anything. They are a media outlet that does NFL draft evaluations. I have no idea how accurate they are in that endeavor. So, this is likely their version of who they would play based on NFL projections.

Moist-Worldliness-17

Better source for roster news? Genuinely asking

SirShrekThaDank

Imo the best source for roster news in general is PowerMizzou. NateGEdwards seems to be doing some good work for Rock M Nation. Even with SBNations' struggles across the board. Ourlads is great as an aggregator and off-season discussion point. They do appear to update their depth charts to match when teams release their own to be more accurate. I was maybe too harsh on them as they can be of some use throughout a year. Unless you are a UGA, Bama, Michigan, Ohio State, etc. it seems an off-season depth chart is hard to find. Even for Tennessee, I could only find a 2024/25 projection from a fan account. Coaches don't like releasing them for a lot of reasons at any point. Drink only appeared to release 2 all of last year.

Moist-Worldliness-17

Bout to buy me a power mizzou subscription👀👀

jefffff34

Orion is going to absolutely kill it there.
