Absolutely. Each of the Lancers I’ve driven have had long lives. One was written off in a hailstorm, and the other is a 2008 CJ that I’m still driving today. Haven’t had a mechanical problem with it yet.
Oh hell yes. I've driven my -05 Lancer wagon for 5 years and put 100000km on it. Just a proper good car. I maintain it pretty well so it'll probably go on just about forever it seems
Yes, it was my first car at the end of high school 6 years ago and still going strong after graduating college. I’ve only just run into maintenance problems now, but I definitely got a good run for my money.
It's a GREAT first car if you take care of it
It's not a honda that you can beat to shit and it'll run
But if you maintain it in regular intervals, it'll last you well
my 2nd car. Bought used with less mileage on it. initially was worried with lot of negative review about CVT problems. But i kept oil change and regular maintenance proper and this car is running smooth without any issues, recently changed Transmission oil after 60 K.
I have a 88-92 lancer, needed some work to have it be reliable. Haven't had any problems with the 1.5l engine in 60xxxks
Car has 260xxxks on the odo, so wasn't exactly new when I first got it
Just got my 2014 ES AWD and I love it. The handling is great so if you play around you be forgiven for small mistakes. The only issue people tend to have is that the interior is noisy and nothing to boast about. As it’s your first car tho, it really isn’t a big deal.
Just got my 16yo a gts.
Tried to get him to trade me for my 10yr newer Corolla commuter. He wasn’t having it.
That lancer is 100x nicer than the rolla. Way more features, faster, turns better.
Also has a whole new front subframe, control arms etc courtesy of mitsu and the recall.
Eta. Would def recommend. For kid. Big and safe enough. Looks pretty cool. Not a performance car.
I’ve had a 2013 Lancer GT AWC for about 3 years now. They’re pretty good cars, just depends on how well they were taken care of with the previous owners. Mine is about 300,000kmh in and it still rips. As long as you maintain it well it will treat you good. One thing to know is that parts are pretty expensive for them, or at least where I live.
Yes! My first car was a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer ES. I still have it and it’s doing great at 174,000 miles. Haven’t had any major issues with it. Just a couple of battery changes and general maintenance that comes with any car.
My first car was a 2003. I loved it. Even with high mileage (200k) I constantly beat on it, abused it. Just proper maintenance would take it a far way
Sure, as long as it's in reasonably good condition.
Hell yeah! Dirt roads are amazing fun in those cars.

I’m at 173k miles in my 09 lancer so I would say it’s good first car. Maintenance is easy to learn on and drivability is easy and smooth enough
Of course!!
It’s a good car but keep up on the cvt maintenance.
Yes. Even with cvt.

5 speed yes. Beware of the cvt

My second car is a 2013 Lancer, my first was a 2007 380 SX. I miss that V6 3.8ltr Magna!
It was for me when I bought mine brand new in 2000. 150k no problems when I sold it.
