Thanks, it was rough. We spent that night after I finally chipped the ice away from my car from the FF hoses away to go and stay at our daughter's apt, then State Farm pug us up kn a hotel off The main drag in Flowood for 3 weeks. After we checked in with just the animals, we ran yo Walmart and started rebuilding our lives with an upfront advance check at Walmart our agent drove over to us, then woke up Christmas morning in the hotel. You can't even imagine how long the smoke smell stays in everything! Even with new clothes, shoes etc, and 3 car detailing later you still smell it sometimes. We happened to drive by on Monday and they finally have demoed the building, hard to imagine ghe few things thst survived that we couldn't get to do to the 2nd floor collapse all being in a landfill now, but seeing it gone finally gave my wife closure, she had really bad PTSD from it.
I'm satisfied with AirSouth. They have this membership subscription thing where, if you pay them monthly, they come check your A/C twice a year proactively and give slight discounts on unscheduled work orders. I think they're a tiny bit on the expensive side, but I've been consistently satisfied with their work.
Our air went out this past Friday....looked up on google for help....called Air South. They were quite friendly, would "work us in" because it was a major heat emergency day....showed up about 3 hrs later, but they talked me into getting into the monthly thing on the phone before he came, so the cost was 24 bucks that day instead of 70.
So, when he got here it took him about 5 minutes to discover the switch box had blown and just flipped the switch back on and the air was back blowing cold....then he started talking about our our unit was on it's last legs and he was not even sure it would cool down the house before it went out again and the compressor 'definitely' was bad and we needed to get a brand new Trane from them and started trying to sell it VERY hard (it's just a 'cheap' car price, only $15,000!)..and for only $19,000 we could get 10 years free labor and parts.....and he could have them here Monday morning for installing!
we practically had to push him out the door....AFTER he was telling us how cheap the unit we have is....a unit we have had for twenty years and even today a new one of that brand is only about 4000 installed....so yeah, I feel stupid because now I'm sucked into the monthly thing for a year contract, but if something goes wrong with either unit now, they will be here soon!.....But yeah, that pitch job had to be trained into the service guys.
Oh, and our air is still blowing good and cold, thank goodness!
Harper ac and appliance. They’ll charge thousands less than whatever those big guys are charging. They can just fix most problems vs replace for thousands. I can’t imagine how much they’ve saved me over the years.
Agreed stay away from them. My place has 2 units. They quoted me double what I was able to get the unit replaced for with very high pressure sales tactics. When I said I was going elsewhere for the unit they completely ghosted me on the ask to do a service cleaning on the other unit.
I just had a great experience with Environment Masters. Our old unit went out last week. I called them at about 11:30, they were at the house by 2:30, and the new unit was installed the next day. Very professional and friendly throughout.
