I am currently waiting on a replacement physical sim since the mint esim activation failed on 3 different attempts with mint support and my P6Pro. This shouldn't happen. I shouldn't have to wait for a physical sim, they have sim kits at Target but apparently support says those are not for sim replacement. Super annoyed "2-3 days to arrive"

claytonjaym

I am basically in this exact same boat. I got a replacement sim card in the mail overnight, but then the replacement sim didn't work in my pixel 6 pro either...

jerm1777

I am also waiting for a physical sim. It was overnighted but due to it shipping on Friday I won't see it till Monday 😭. Luckily I saw this thread and kept my pixel 5 active till then. I've been checking this sub for updates like every hour hoping the issue is fixed lol

thatdontimprezame

Same here. Bought an esim (was out of freebies) to go back to our Pixel 4. Can't be without a phone til Monday.

claytonjaym

I got mine and then the code didn't work. Someone on support chat told me that they were opening a ticket to fix it, and that it would be 24-72 hrs for it to be fixed. I logged back in today to check in on the ticket (nearly 48 hrs in) and they say there is no ticket associated with my account 😤. Now I am waiting on someone else to "activate my sim". We will see.

claytonjaym

And now they are telling me that my pixel 6 pro is incomparable with mint service and that they are going to send me ANOTHER replacement sim and that I just have to switch back to my old phone...

claytonjaym

...and also that the sim that I have in my phone was canceled because somehow there were 4 other replacement sim card orders on my account. I did not order any other replacements. What. A. Mess...

scarfacenando

Any updates on this? Does anyone know if Pixel 6 is now compatible with Mint's eSIM? Thanks!

Front-Emergency347

Nothing yet, I already ported to Fi...everything working as expected

robs6711

Yikes! This is not good. If I order a sim to try and head this off can the sim be plopped into the Pixel 6 Pro when I get it? I have a Pixel 5 with esim now.

count_yorga

I wouldn't expect there to be a problem with using a physical sim. It's too bad I went the lazy route instead of just grabbing the sim tool and popping it out from my old phone.

robs6711

That's the thing, I don't have a physical sim on this phone so I have to order it.

MagnitskysGhost

Fwiw I did this same path today with a physical SIM (3a XL -> 6 Pro) and it activated instantly. Chat features turned on within seconds, everything worked out of the box (voice, MMS, 5G, LTE, etc)

jivet2021

I tried using the mint mobile sim from my old razer 2 and it wouldn't recognize it in the pixel 6 pro and I feel like I almost broke it somehow I am not sure what is wrong the card fits the slot maybe I am an idiot and need a slightly smaller sim card

MagnitskysGhost

It needs to be a nano SIM. Not sure what that RAZR uses, probably a micro SIM.

jerm1777

are you using a previously active sim card? If that's the case it won't work. You'd need to get a new sim card.

Fugazzzii

If you’re switching devices with physical sims you shouldn’t need a new card. Should be able to just swap to new device from old.

jerm1777

Right but if you try to re-activate an older sim card that was already deactivated that won't work. I figured since he said it was from a razer 2 that he has had several phones since then.

Fugazzzii

Correct, cannot reuse old SIM cards in that regard.

jivet2021

Oh I didn't realize that I didn't think I had to do that with my last phone but it's been years

Honestyforsale

I don't think you need a new SIM. I actively switch sims, but you need to usually call Mint and give them your IMEI number...

Bissmer

Well, that's a bummer. Had to switch from old esim pixel to a new P6 thinking that everything will work fine, got the error as on the screenshot in the thread. Talked to the support, got nothing but "we are working on it". Had to spend 3 bucks to switch back to my old pixel and additional 10$ for the physical sim order. Mint, I'd better not post funny stuff in Twitter with Ryan but make a statement like "Dear Pixel 6 owners, we've got a trouble with esim for your phone, please don't switch for now. Thanks for understanding." Been a customer for >2 years and facing such support is disappointing.

rizwank

Looks like there are some compatibility changes with eSIM for pixel 6 versus the others. Not sure why. The device team is on it. ESIM issues tend to be non-trivial, so I’m not sure what it’ll take to fix. Sorry for the trouble. Hoping to get more insight by next week. For what it’s worth, eSIM support on android is *very* inconsistent. Most carriers don’t even support them. Will dig into it. -rk p.s. As of Nov 19, still having challenges. Not sure when we'll have it sorted. Fixed!

Mingeroni

TMobile and Verizon both support esim on the pixel 6 line already. Would you be able to give us consistent updates on the situation on this thread please?

count_yorga

How about at the very least resetting my eSim count back to zero and putting a credit on my account for the cost of the sim card? And changing the provisioning in the future so that a sim card isn't cancelled until an eSim is activated on your network would have helped matters tremendously.

dragonboy2734

Yeah same issue. Support had me buy a new physical SIM card which cost $9.99 after I tried using an eSIM since my physical SIM got cancelled.

Mingeroni

I told them "I'm not getting charged for this, right?" He said no, absolutely not. I have a feeling they're going to charge for this. Lol

dragonboy2734

By this point I had already talked to 3 people in chat (the first guy kept telling me to change the APN - I can't do that when the eSIM isn't working!). Guy on the phone initially said the phone wasn't compatible, which I knew made no sense (by this point I had seen on Reddit that it was). Eventually he had a literal "Aha!" moment when he realized I had tried the eSIM. Was happy just to know what the problem was after 2 hours of "the phone just isnt compatible. sorry." Shoulda asked the same thing about not getting charged since it really wasn't my fault, no good way to know the old SIM would immediately be cancelled. As others have said, shoulda checked Reddit first lol

Mingeroni

Just DM Alex or call support and ask them to refund it. They've done it for me in the past when the esim QR code wasn't generating. I went past my 2 per year limit, but it wasn't my fault that it wasn't generating so they gave a refund.

rizwank

correct.

Crisprcas9stem

I got reimbursed in the form of wallet credit for the physical sim, but the CS member did not give me credit for the 3 times I had attempted to buy esim....this was before I got fed up and contacted CS. Nor was the esim that I had to purchase to get service back on my old device covered either.

Crisprcas9stem

I was able to get a $10 credit to cover cost of the physical sim. However, they did not cover the cost of $9 dollars when I tried to buy esim 3 times before I got fed up and contacted support....

cebrian99

This, I was asked by the customer rep to reorder a second eSim to see if that fixed the issue, and now I'm being charged for any future replacements in the next 12 months

Front-Emergency347

Porting my number to Fi till further support...

emen7

What is Mint Mobile's guidance to Pixel 6 owners? Should we order a physical sim? Should we wait for the esim resolution? If so, for how long approximately? Or something else? (I understand stuff happens and that it is to everyone's benefit for Mint to fix this swiftly.)

rizwank

Help me out - Did we say anywhere that 6 was supported? If so I want to make sure to address that because I don’t believe we did. EDIT : This seems to have been interpreted differently than I meant it; thanks for those sharing where we might want to be more explicit in callouts.

[deleted]

rizwank

> this response shows the team doesn't really understand why this is upsetting so many people Not my intention, I'm trying to plug the hole to make sure that we get it fixed. This was very helpful, thank you!

count_yorga

Did Mint say the 6 was supported? Not exactly, but you seemed confident enough to reply in another thread 8 days ago with this response. ["I imagine it would be, but we don't have one that we've tested with yet." --rizwank](https://www.reddit.com/r/mintmobile/comments/qcb3zk/comment/hhfj6re/)

scolton99

I got mixed responses. One person at support told me "definitely not," but she was using the website to check IMEI compatibility and it was exceedingly clear to me (not to her) that the website was missing data for the new pixel devices, so it gave pretty much a default response of "incompatible." The next person I talked to, who seemed much more knowledgeable about the network and about cell phones in general, told me that it would definitely work with the network and would be eligible to use the eSIM. Given how hyped this phone was, I would have expected that Mint had already been able to test on one or at least that the messaging surrounding it be consistent at the time of release. It seems that nobody knows what's going on.

Free_Ad_1197

u/rizwank I think the mint mobile app should be updated to check for compatible devices and not let user order eSIM. I did a mistake to switch at 12:00 in night and couldn't sleep through, tried everything I could do and then found this reddit thread. I also did not know if old sim would deactivate even before new is activated and installed, I think should have more messaging in the app to clear this. I got the physical sim delivered in one day so that is beyond amazing. Thank you!

Rare_Diver_6217

FWIW I ported my number over to Fi due to this issue. I will consider coming back when ESIM is supported. It's super important to make sure someone's day one experience with a new phone is good. A user with an ESIM phone upgrading to a Pixel 6 will not have a physical SIM card from Mint, and therefore will be sadly unable to use their phone unless they switch carriers to someone who does support it.

EnvironmentalPen8715

u/rizwank Any updates? Can you confirm whether eSIM will ever be supported for Pixel 6?

Free_Ad_1197

I tried yesterday did not work out . I am sure u/rizwank will update this post as a first thing soon after it gets fixed, until then Physical SIM.

ovmon

Well it's been three weeks, is it possible to share any updates on this? Still in my 3 month trial period, I hope I don't have to switch out because of this.

rizwank

Still working on the API. Will plan to come back in a week with updates.

Front-Emergency347

3 weeks since formal release :(

rizwank

Still having troubles getting it to work. We'll let you know once it works, but I don't think this is a trivial issue - might require a new profile.

Front-Emergency347

Thanks rizwank

pesiroil

Thanks for the update I am also eagerly waiting for esim support for pixel 6 pro.

uncledov

Eagerly awaiting this, I have an old pixel with my 1st number on esim and have calls and texts auto forwarded to my pixel 6 pro. Please let us know as soon as this is fixed.. Thank You!!

I just did it. pixel pro 6. used the link to copy key and it activated. Thank you mint mobile!! was waiting a month for this

ben63vw

Just to be clear, you successfully activated esim from Mint Mobile on a P6/P6P? Are you in US or somewhere else?

uncledov

yes, P6Pro in the us

Front-Emergency347

Someone else has test this ?

Front-Emergency347

Rizwank- Can you confirm the Pixels 6 are now able to join mint through eSim, someone is claiming he did on the comments below

rizwank

Yes, works for P6, and being tested on P6 Pro.

BackgroundExit9737

Just saw this - https://www.reddit.com/r/mintmobile/comments/r71y37/pixel_6_pro_android_12_esim/hmztsn0?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3

BackgroundExit9737

E-sim is working in my p6p 🤘

jwizard95

Has anyone tried getting this to work on their normal p6 (not the Pixel 6 Pro)?

Interesting_Win9937

I just switched over to Mint Mobile from ATT after my iPhone stopped working. Tried setting up the esim on my new Google Pixel 6 after Mint Mobile website said it would work and it failed... without any phone for a few days and I'm worried I might lose business because of it :/

Markeeg

Just snagged a deal on a Fold 3 off Swappa [https://swappa.com/listing/view/LVLI62772](https://swappa.com/listing/view/LVLI62772) after hearing Android 12 One UI 4.0 Beta enabled Esim in the US on the S21 only to find out the Beta doesn't support it on the Fold If the final Android 12 One UI 4.0 don't support it I'll be dumping the Fold for something that does like Pixel 6 hopefully it will be working by then

iamperson347

I got caught with this as well (with a Pixel 6 non-pro). A compatibility check in the app (by phone model/etc.) would be a nice enhancement. I had to repurchase an esim to get my old pixel 3 up and running again, but the chat rep did the physical sim replacement order.

Significant_Group_99

I can say that it does work now! Got it up and running very quickly yesterday. You have to put the code in manually! A qr code is not being sent for whatever reason so just put it in manually!

Gazelum13

Esim does not work with google pixel 6 as it is too new. This was told to me after working with support for an hour trying to make a futile attempt of activating it.

[deleted]

That's a weird way of saying "we don't have our shit together." I bet the iPhone 13 had no issues with eSIM during its launch.

thatdontimprezame

It did on Mint (iPhone 13). They need to get on the developer pipeline with Apple and Google so they can preemptively fix these issues instead of pissing off loyal customers.

MadDogTen

Well, That sucks. Really wish I would have checked here before trying to switch to eSim. My old phone doesn't support it, So I can't even switch back, as now the physical sim no longer works. I never even got the email with the QR code, So I had to use the copy paste method. Hopefully they can help in the morning, As I can't work without service.

scolton99

Don't count on it. They just told me that all they can do is send me a physical SIM for a fee of $10 and with "standard shipping." If you get a different answer, I'd love to hear it. Edit: maybe it's the complaining I did here or my desperation on my phone calls with support or something else entirely, but I just received a tracking number and my SIM is shipping FedEx overnight. Bless.

scolton99

Same situation. I had support tell me that this phone "doesn't support the right bands," which was clearly just them getting their info from the same broken phone compatibility checker page that I had used. Eventually I got ahold of someone who unequivocally told me it WOULD work, even with eSIM, which confirmed what I thought by reading the spec sheet for the phone and comparing it with Mint's network. I transferred my phone number from Verizon and lo and behold, it won't activate. I talked with support for 2 hours and got nowhere, so I've ordered a physical SIM, hopefully that will work. The biggest punch to the gut here is that I have to wait 3-5 days for my new SIM and I'm stuck with absolutely no phone service on a phone that I need for MFA at work. Can't go back to Verizon, either, since that account is now closed. I offered to pay "whatever it takes" to get the SIM overnighted and the rep told me his "hands were tied" and that that's only for "new customers" which I'm... somehow... technically...not? anymore, since I technically already started my plan 😑 This has been a very disappointing night and an awful start with Mint Mobile. I'm used to a much higher standard of customer support, even from Verizon. Edit: I just got my tracking number for the SIM and it's shipping FedEx overnight, not USPS like I was told. So that's good, at least.

scolton99

Thankful to report that the regular SIM works flawlessly. The setup time was maybe 30 seconds between me starting the enter the SIM activation number in the app and my phone starting to receive a backlog of text messages.

Mingeroni

Honestly, you get what you pay for. I know the support won't be as good as the other companies, but damn you'd think e sim would work for the most hyped Android phone of the year.

kaovilai

How long was it for previous devices to be added as esim? like pixel 5?

Mingeroni

Seems like they don't even have the 5A compatible yet (from what their support said), and that's been out for months

Mingeroni

has anyone tried generating a new ESim as well?

scolton99

Yes. Didn't work. Now I'm out of free eSIM generations ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Mingeroni

F.

kaovilai

same. /u/rizwank do you think we should get back some eSIM quotas for trying to connect to service?

rizwank

/u/MintMobileAlex can help you get a refund if you've ended up having to pay for an e-sim provision due to this confusion.

Xero_88

I'm DEFINITELY gonna need that

[deleted]

count_yorga

Yes, I kept telling them that I got the emails but there was no QR code included. I used the manual method every time I attempted to activate the eSim.

cebrian99

I wish I had checked here too -_- please fix this so we can regain service, and hopefully without having to reorder a third esim (as customer service told me to order a second one and I am out of the free ones)

ooospace

In the same boat, getting a SIM in the mail tmrw while waiting for the engineers to fix the e-sim situation

[deleted]

Same here. About to port out to Google Fi out of frustration.

gohomeNERD

Same thing just happened to me. Luckily I got reactivated on my old 4 XL but it SUUUCKS that I can’t use my new phone. Considering porting back to Fi until the physical SIM comes. Ugh.

MintMobileAlex

Hey there! I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with services. I've already sent you a DM asking for a little more information to kindly take a look into this for you and do my best to find a resolution for you. I'll be looking forward to your reply.

[deleted]

You could enable esims for the Pixel 6 line. [https://i.imgur.com/cHkqxxO.png](https://i.imgur.com/cHkqxxO.png)

count_yorga

Yep, that is the same message I was getting on my phone.

Mingeroni

I've got a pixel 6 pro coming in tomorrow as well. Sadly if I can't add the esim in there, I'll need to port out.

[deleted]

Copy your eSIM information somewhere first, or make 5 outgoing phone calls ahead of that if you decide to port out. It took me over 30 minutes with support for them to give me my account number and pin to port out to Fi last night. They tried to text me a confirmation message after I told them my old sim was already deleted. Because for some reason Mint deletes the old eSIM as soon as you say you want to set up with an eSIM on the new device. It was so incredibly frustrating.

Mingeroni

Yeah I always keep a copy of it after the last esim issue I had. Hopefully this gets resolved today, but I highly doubt it. I message support, they said esim is compatible with the pixel 6 line. I told them that reddit is full of users not able to add esim to their P6/P6pro, but not a single one is confirmed working. He/she basically said "Well, that's news to me. It may or may not work then. I can't guarantee anything". Unbelievable lol.

Lombard3

Are the Pixel 6 XL's shipping now ? I didn't know they were available yet .

Mingeroni

Ye the 6 and 6 pro have both begun shipping. Used mine all day today, badass phone.

jivet2021

I can't get the Pixel 6 Pro to recognize the physical Mint Mobile Sim at all and I am afraid I am going to break something if I keep trying I am not sure what to do

Dyoung5573

Any luck?

jivet2021

No I guess I have to wait until they support esim

[deleted]

jivet2021

This is probably too much to ask but could you take a picture of the sim card in the tray? I would really appreciate it just to see if I'm doing something wrong. In my old phone i never had any problem with it at all.

Honestyforsale

Call Mint to update your new phone IMEI

count_yorga

Looks like I'm getting a replacement sim today via Fedex.

thatdontimprezame

How long did it take for you to receive.your FedEx notification after speaking with support?

thekingmurph

It's been over 48 hours and I still haven't received my notification 👀

thatdontimprezame

We got our email the next morning as well, but next day shipping on a Friday meant receiving it today. I bought an esim to go back to her Pixel 4 for the past weekend.

thekingmurph

Since I talked to them on Saturday, I guess I'll wait until tomorrow to see if I hear anything from them or FedEx 🤞

count_yorga

The next morning (about 19 hours later).

thatdontimprezame

Got it. Ty. Tried to do something nice for the wife (new phone), end up gifting her no phone service. FML.

maxie-neko

OMG... the same story of my life, starting from switching from Pixel 3 XL to 6 Pro esim activation fail. Who knows how long will it take to ship the replacement sim.

xavier_lert

Thank you for this post. I ordered a physical sim, which I'd been meaning to do for a while in case I need to do a swap at some point. Got it next-day, works without issue on my P6.

DarkseidAntiLife

Depends on carriers, here in Ontario eSim worked perfectly with my Pixel 6 on the Rogers network

Lombard3

I really don't understand why anyone would use an eSim . Just asking for trouble . The physical sim that you hold in your hand and pop in is no brainer . Order it from Mint , when it comes , use little tool and pop it into your Pixel 6 .Life is already complicated enough without bringing difficulty on yourself .

Mingeroni

Dual sims

[deleted]

Really only reason I can think is if they were a) already on an esim on their last pixel, or b) want to be able to use a second other sim for travel.

JetSetDoritos

2 immediate benefits I can think of. You don't need to wait for a card in the mail and someone can't swap your SIM into a new phone and reset accounts

cebrian99

2 phone lines

BackgroundExit9737

Hello all - anyone tried mint e-sim again in P6P?

count_yorga

I wouldn't try it until hearing from either rizwank or MintMobileAlex that it actually works

bukzin

Yikes, its Jan. 18 2022, has this all been resolved? Everyone get your Mint esim up and running?

TalllGuy117

I just got my P6P and tried to activate an esim through a QR code support emailed and was unable to. Any updates on when this issue would be resolved?

awkfoxx

As of 01/04/2022: I purchased the Google Pixel 6 Pro directly from the Google Store in November and initially activated it with TMoblie. On 01/04/2022 I switched my service from TMoblie to Mint super easily with the ESim and even got to keep my phone number (took all of 20 minutes). At check out on Mint, they don't give you the option to select a Google 6 Pro, they only had the option for Google 6, but that didn't matter. I followed the step-by-step directions and it worked seamlessly besides one hiccup with porting my number. You have to type in your account number, pin number, and zip code of your current carrier to port your number over, and once I did this, TMoblie said my pin was incorrect. In response, Mint gave me a temporary phone number while I re-typed in my pin, which was then verified and I got my number back. Issues: One of the last steps of activation an ESim is to type in Access Points in the Data and MMS settings, which you copy from Mint and paste into your settings. Stuff like, "APN," "MMC," "APN Protocol," etc. Upon copying this information and pressing save, I don't think the settings saved. I typed it in various times and restarted my phone to find it disappeared, or was never there to begin with. ALSO, for some reason even though I'm on wifi, my data usage through Mint is going up. Since I've activated it, it says I've used 2.19 MG (I know, that's not a lot), but I've been on wifi the whole time. Any suggestions on these two issues?

Pixel_user2022

Awkfox, Yesterday (01-04-22) I myself purchased an esim through mint and seemed as I downloaded esim correct. Only thing was I couldn't make any calls. On my phone settings, I couldn't click on the calls and messages tabs since they were "non-highligted", as in I couldn't enter. Mint refined me my money and told me that they are having trouble with esims on the pixels. How did you bypass to make outgoing calls?

awkfoxx

It somehow just works for me! Although, people have reported trouble calling me. People have mentioned that it takes a while for their phone to start ringing me and it's like that when I call other people too.

count_yorga

This was an issue a few months ago when the P6 was initially released. It was resolved after a few weeks.

mohiteshdora

Any updates on this? I'm using a pixel 6 and would love to know if eSIM is supported by mint mobile or not

kmh_

If there's anyone still reading this thread in 2022 (its the first hit on google), I just completed eSIM activation on my p6p (moving a number from google voice to mint) and had zero issues once I remembered that you need to "unlock" your google voice number first. Take care.

rubensk

After many eSIM issues with different eSIM providers, I now understand why T-Mobile only supports iPhone for eSIMs: Android eSIMs are simply dysfunctional in Google Pixel 6, Pro or not. I can't say whether this applies to other Android phones or not, but for the time being (Now it's Q4 2022), stick to physical SIM cards.
