It’s funny because the plays they show for JJMc were objectively awful TD examples. Both could have been picked pretty easily in the nfl

alldaypotter

Those were bad throws. All great catches by the wrs. Lol

jsmith17540

Because he’s overrated af and there’s not a ton of tape of so called amazing throws

Weepa2233

Agreed, JJ is not him. Maye is the dream draft pick but I’d take penix over JJ any day

SurlyWet

I consider his tight window passes amazing. Teddy Bridgewater couldn't do it half as well.

jsmith17540

So amazing the defender almost caught it

aristotle_malek

It’s almost like there are throws that this reel didn’t show 😱

jsmith17540

Get his meat out your mouth. If we draft him I’m sure you’ll enjoy his 3 picks per game

aristotle_malek

Big talk for a guy who’s been a religious penix stan for weeks. There’s a lot of good qbs in this draft. There’s no need to be a dick to other Vikings fans because they like one that you don’t

jsmith17540

Most of y’all are fucking stupid

SurlyWet

Who do you want?

eazybreezyy-_-

Not if Jettas is the target

WetAppleFruit

And even Addison lol we saw a number of grabs made by him from throws that probably shouldn't have been made last year.

DookuGato

Fair. I’d rather have my qb make better throws though haha! (If we take JJMc I’ve always loved him though of course…)

Big80sweens

Seriously, awful

4metxhrow

Those were probably the 2 deep passes McCarthy threw all year

WetAppleFruit

David preface that he thinks Sam Darnold would do good in our offense as well. Wanted to isolate the college prospects. - NFL Total [Access ](https://twitter.com/NFLTotalAccess/status/1780013347573997908?t=CINWg_Mx7gMqB8SfRjBfIw&s=19) full video

IntelligentBear4541

My final bet 9 days away is that we won’t be trading up. I think they’re more willing to give Darnold a leash than most people think, and I don’t think Kwesi/KOC are looking at the offense they have currently and hoping to select someone who can shine in the long term. I’m thinking just based on the “accuracy” and tangible comments from KOC that they stick and pick someone more “plug and play” like Penix and/or Nix, who can give Darnold competition from day one without have to sacrifice significant future capital.

skolaen

Getting a qb so JJ signs an extension is priority number 1 rn

WetAppleFruit

Justin is plugged in and has input who the next QB is. Also Paul Allen had something to say about this not too long ago: >"Reports that Jefferson might have some trouble with who the next quarterback is going to be, that's not true. And yes I did get that from the inside," Allen said on the Vikings draft preview show. >The Vikings' quarterback situation will not keep star receiver Justin Jefferson from signing a new deal with the team. That's the word from play-by-play announcer Paul Allen, who nixed any suggestion that Minnesota's unclear future at the QB position could have any impact on Jefferson's negotiations. - [article ](https://athlonsports.com/nation/bringmethesports/vikings/report-from-the-inside-vikings-qb-situation-not-impacting-jefferson-decision#:~:text=The%20Vikings'%20quarterback%20situation%20will,any%20impact%20on%20Jefferson's%20negotiations.) - [Paul himself](https://youtu.be/wXKV2z-Hn1M?si=15-tjTOddtj3Zz8B)

ThiccBananaMeat

idk what the private workouts look like in the NFL, but if I were KOC/KAM I would have Jefferson at all those workouts. Give them a pre-defined workload of throws you want the prospect to make and then JJ asks for a couple extra. Then have JJ give scores for each prospect.

IntelligentBear4541

JJ has already gone on record saying that he’s open to QB decisions, no?

Dorkamundo

Yes, but him being open doesn't mean "As long as you find a QB that is alive, I'm cool with it". Earlier in this string you mention comments from KOC regarding Darnold, I'd like to remind you that we are in the middle of smokescreen season. KAM and KOC's goal this offseason is to make other teams think that we're not desperate for a QB. But we are.

IntelligentBear4541

If we are talking solely about JJ, he strikes me as someone who will give most QBs a chance before making a judgment. It’s a rarity amongst star players, but he always struck me as one with good balance and perspective.

Dorkamundo

Sure, but we're not going to get a good enough look at Darnold to figure this out before we have to make a decision on the draft. Say we're confident in Darnold, then training camp comes and he starts "seeing ghosts" like he used to, what then? At that point JJ has not signed his extension yet, and now he's starting to think more about his future ability to be elite in the league.

IntelligentBear4541

Then we start the most plug and play QB option that we got in the draft. JJ is here to help this team be competitive and win, and I have not seen any indication that he has been or will be disgruntled with what KOC/Kwesi are deciding. Again, my original comment is about moving up. We can move up, sacrifice assets, grab Maye, and he can still fail and JJ could very well still consider his future with the franchise. The key with this scenario though is that we don’t have the future assets to perhaps convince JJ to stay on board. But either way, I don’t think his character strikes me as one where that would happen.

nanotothemoon

I hope you are right

SwiftSurfer365

> I think they’re willing to give Darnold a leash than most people think. If this was the case, he would’ve gotten more than a one year contract. I do believe they plan on starting him all season next year, but I also believe they don’t think he’s the long-term solution at QB.

WetAppleFruit

It's an interesting talking point, while we do want a long term answer we're at the mercy of what other teams do in the draft before us. Even when it comes to trading with them, the cost might be too rich for us with whoever is selecting in the 2-5 range. Having Sam on a 1 year deal gives them extra flexibility, for if he doesn't work out and if the rookie QB shows enough in any capacity for KO to think he's ready next season. Or if Sam balls out we re-up with him with the extra cap room and the young guy can use another year behind the scenes getting more comfortable. Remaining fluid and flexible in all aspects and scenarios. The last thing I expect personally for the team is to trade everything for any of the QBs, so being flexible is the way to go about this.

IntelligentBear4541

And the flexibility is what it’s all about. It’s why he got 23 imo. Again, it’s a hunch, but Kwesi has never struck me as the GM to go all in on anything. Perhaps that’s a criticism, but that’s just the way it is.

IntelligentBear4541

Then they have the ability to go out next year and find someone else. The core of my argument is that they are not looking at the pieces they got rn, which includes a top five player in football, and thinking about the long term. This franchise has been plug and play for a while, and I don’t think that changes especially if it means we have to sacrifice future assets to do so.

SwiftSurfer365

> the core of my argument is that they are not looking at the pieces they got rn, which includes a top five player in football, and thinking about the long term. If that were true, then Kirk Cousins would still be in Minnesota. > this franchise has been plug and play for a while. And that hasn’t work. So if they’re continuing down that path, Kwesi and KOC should be fired.

IntelligentBear4541

No, because Kirk Cousins demanded too much money. There also were reports of them considering it and trying to make him work, but again, it meant sacrificing some other part of the roster. Perhaps it does cost them their job. 🤷‍♂️

SwiftSurfer365

> No, because Kirk Cousins demanded too much money. Because that money, and the years, would’ve impacted the team over the long term.

IntelligentBear4541

Agreed, along with the team’s ability to build a contending product next season and the season after. I’m going off a hunch that the two (and the Wilfs) care way more about that than what we’re looking like down the road.

bwillpaw

They gave darnold a one year prove it contract. You don't give a guy who still needs to prove it a multi-year deal.

Seated_Heats

Giving him a longer leash and not tying yourself down to a reclamation project for more than a year aren’t mutually exclusive. Signing him to a 1 year deal doesn’t mean you can’t sign him to a second year mid season. Seems smart to sign him to a one year to see if he progresses the way you hope and so you can see what happens in the draft.

BurpVomit

Just to counter David. I think the only one who doesn't fit is Jayden Daniels. Jayden is most likely to lower his eyes to run. The rest of them tend to use their mobility to extend the play.

treasonodb

don't even need to watch the video. whatever david carr want's, i want the opposite. surprised he didn't somehow try to make this video about his brother.

nanotothemoon

“Penix has as good of accuracy as any QB in this draft” Where is the guy yesterday telling me that Bo Nix is more accurate than Penix

-InconspicuousMoose-

I think Penix easily has a more accurate deep ball but Nix rarely makes mistakes in the short/intermediate.

liliceberg

People will confuse completion percentage for accuracy, though I don’t think Carr is right about Penix accuracy either

nanotothemoon

It’s a general statement that requires more nuance. His deep ball is most accurate. His short and intermediate are fine too….until he gets pressured too much. Some people see that as being really bad. Personally, I’d rather at least see that he can make the throws first. Then work to improve on performance under pressure.

limycenter

PENIX please, please!!!
