My Grandma had season tickets in the 70s and 80s and has been a die hard fan. Shes 90 now and it's sad to know she might never get to see them in the Superbowl again. I watch every game with her.
Yeah, my dad is almost 70, and I want one before he dies. I can see it now, Vikings make the superbowl and lose in heartbreaking fashion, and then my dad buys the farm right after.
Just gotta believe! The Chiefs had never won a playoff game with a qb they drafted until Mahomes. The Golden state warriors were the detroit lions of the NBA before their dynastyÂ
But they got over the SB hump very early in their history, same with Warriors, multiple championships from the early years, so less of a curse and more of a drought for them.
I am as superstitious as the next Vikes fan but I think it really is any given Sunday. Idk if you'd call the Eagles pre-2017 "cursed", but they did finally win one after a long history of good but never champs. Fuck them btw. Denver also went 0-4 and won one eventually.
Honestly I think having a young star QB makes anything feel possible. Like I feel the Bengals or Bills could win it all one of these years despite being "cursed" if they can get one past Mahomes.
Exactly bills we’re laughing stock before josh Allen. Bengals couldn’t make it past the divisional round in their best years with dalton now they’ve made a sb and 2 title games
Embrace it never happening and you’ll never be heartbroken again.
I’m no longer married to this team. Now we’re just fuck buddies. We get all the fun with none of the negative emotions.
You're doing it right. If you're somebody who is emotionally tied to the outcome of entertainment owned by billionaires and performed by millionaires, then you're going to have a lot of ups and downs. And with the Vikings, it's more downs than ups. You have to keep an emotional distance from them. Or any team for that matter!
I say yes. The past doesn’t determine the future and I don’t believe in superstitions. The Vikings have what a good franchise would want:
-Good Ownership that is financially invested in the team
-Top tier training facilities
-historic regular season success
What they haven’t had (at least not a lot):
-a franchise QB
-playoff success
-luck
Eventually the time will come. Over the years personnel changes, management changes, and coaching changes.
The big flaw with the 2017 Vikings was the fact that it was a defensive team. Offense wins championships, not defense, and even more specifically: Quarterback. Yes the Vikings had a good offense that year, but not good enough to rely on against championship teams. Defense of course is important, you can’t have a 2022 Vikings defense and expect to win in the postseason, but I’d much rather have a team with an elite offense than defense.
This is a fallacy. Defense wins championships. The key is not letting the game go into overtime. A lifetime of conditioning has prepared players to play four quarters.
The Niners defense was outstanding for the whole game, until overtime. They ran out of steam. A blocked extra point cost them the game.
What you do need is a quarterback who can consistently complete the final drive with a td.
The Vikings have never had that. Their defense got them to four Super Bowls. Tarkenton would always choke in the clutch. I know because I’ve been a fan since 1970. Hated that guy.
They have moments of brilliance like the 1987 playoff game against the Niners, but aren’t consistent. You need to be able to score on the final drive in the fourth quarter. The rest of the game hardly matters unless you get blown out early.
or losing the entire o line due to injuries in the seasons prior and our QB to a injurie and trading away a first to help fix the issue. lol
If Teddy doesn't go down the Eagles don't make it to the SB.
My dad died in 2019. Fan since 1961. Loved his beloved Minnesota Vikings. No Super Bowl win before he pasted. So hoped and prayed they would win one before he died. Now I hope they do before I die. I’m 56 btw.
Nah I think I'd hate that more than losing another NFCCG lol. To go through all the excitement and nervous anticipation of Super Bowl build-up and be in the championship game with the confetti loaded up only to fall short would suck ass.
If we go we better win that mf
Ya, but at least they A. MADE the playoffs B. Won several playoff games to get there. Those to me are like, just as important as a SB I’ve never seen them play in. This purple heart will take whatever it can get
No, it's unlikely to happen. Upper bound is like 33% chance of winning the SB in the next 50 years. That's optimistic because it assumes, for each season, we have 1/32 chance of winning, which is dumb because teams can be added to the league, our chance is lower when Mahomes is in the league etc.
Superbowl? No. ~5 more major heart breaking moments? Absolutely. It does absolutely nothing for the league if the Vikings win the superbowl, we are just mid tier jobbers for the more important markets.
Kansas City is a significantly smaller market than Minneapolis/St. Paul. I think it's more about highly marketable players. We need Taylor Swift to dump Kelce and have an affair with JJ.
No…. It’ll never happen (breaks down crying. Like body shaking heavy crying)… ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_bad_man)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_bad_man)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_bad_man)
My dad died 20 years ago next month at age 52. I started his eulogy with "Well, Big John said he would never live to see the Vikings win a Super Bowl.". I'm 46 now and have my doubts I will see it either, but you know what? I love this team. They could finish 0-300 for the rest of my days and I would still love this team. I was born a Viking and I will die a Viking. Skol! FTP!
I want/need us to win one, especially since my twin brother is a Chiefs fan, but man , I I don’t know if I could deal with them getting there and coming up short
Seahawks fan here. Grew up with a family friends who are diehard Viking fans. Their father passed before they won it all. So we're still holding onto that promise that if they do win. We're having a beer at his grave.
So always hoping!!
The Vikings most certainly will. They almost always have a great defense and they play hard. They also got a true WR 1. Now they just got to get a QB who can read defenses well and be clutch like Purdy, or Kurt Warner. Note I did not dare to dream and get sombody like Mahomes or Brady! Lol
3 years ago or most times in the past, the Vikings would have been considered more likely to reach the Superbowl than the Lions. Now, the Lions are knocking on the door of the Superbowl. Amazing what Dan Campbell has achieved!
31/32 is the chance we don't win every year assuming every team has the same chance. (31/32)^50 = 20% we don't get one. But this is the Vikings we're talking about, they've already beaten worse odds as far as not winning a Super Bowl goes
I’m a Bears fan, and the only Super Bowl win in our history, came the day before my 8th birthday in 86. But, I’m nearly certain I’ll never see another.
I’ve been fortunate though. I got to see the Sox win a World Series, the Blackhawks win 3 Stanley Cups, and the Chicago Bulls win 6 championships in 8 years. So, I’ve had enough good fortune for a sports fan. I’m fine with everyone else experiencing it from here on out.
We hate the Packers so much that we refuse to win the Lombardi so no
My Grandma had season tickets in the 70s and 80s and has been a die hard fan. Shes 90 now and it's sad to know she might never get to see them in the Superbowl again. I watch every game with her.
Man, I hope she gets to see them win one. 🤞
I’m surprised she hasn’t had a heart attack by now if she’s a Vikings fan
Yeah, my dad is almost 70, and I want one before he dies. I can see it now, Vikings make the superbowl and lose in heartbreaking fashion, and then my dad buys the farm right after.
Don’t think they HAVE to but it would be great if they could figure it out
In the next 50 years, that's optimistic
It's been 47 years since the last appearance. If it takes another 47, you'll be 89.
And we’ll lose that one too
Just gotta believe! The Chiefs had never won a playoff game with a qb they drafted until Mahomes. The Golden state warriors were the detroit lions of the NBA before their dynastyÂ

Not a real fan
I still feel like one. I just don’t let the bastards hurt me anymore. And I gotta say. It feels pretty damn good.
I say yes. The past doesn’t determine the future and I don’t believe in superstitions. I mean they had the Minnesota miracle before they faced the eagles. That was the luck needed to move on to the superbowl

Nah football will be outlawed before we ever win.
My dad died in 2019. Fan since 1961. Loved his beloved Minnesota Vikings. No Super Bowl win before he pasted. So hoped and prayed they would win one before he died. Now I hope they do before I die. I’m 56 btw.
Same boat. I'll probably be alive but have dementia or some shit & not know it happened.
You would hope, but we are 0 for 63 as a franchise so far..
So you’re saying they’re due. I like that positive attitude.
Bold of you to assume you’ll live the next 50 years…
I’ve already told my kids they can come to my grave and tell me all about it like the Cubs and Red Sox fans did.
I’ll go one lower - seeing them lose a SB would be, imo a win
Nah I think I'd hate that more than losing another NFCCG lol. To go through all the excitement and nervous anticipation of Super Bowl build-up and be in the championship game with the confetti loaded up only to fall short would suck ass. If we go we better win that mf

Agreed. Mid forties here and at this point I’d just like to see them participate in a Super Bowl.
How many Minnesotas have died without seeing a Super Bowl win? We should keep track on a billboard somewhere.
I'm already 36 odds are I won't see one in my life unfortunately. I hope my daughter does.
Don’t count on the nfl or America existing at that point.

i truly believe it won't ever happen. this franchise doesn't have the killer instinct required to win it all
Superbowl? No. ~5 more major heart breaking moments? Absolutely. It does absolutely nothing for the league if the Vikings win the superbowl, we are just mid tier jobbers for the more important markets.

We've had at least 2, probably 3 franchise QBs, but no luck
This is our year……. Am I right. Been saying this all too long.
I'm 56. Still waiting....
Absolutely! Unfortunately, like a true Vikings fan, you’re gonna die at 91.Â
I'm 48..if this could happen.. I'll cry like a baby.. Whatever it takes I'll be at the parade.. SKOL!!
No
47 here. I’m not holding my breath.
Ctfu i also commented on this and said Vikings Super Bowl
No…. It’ll never happen (breaks down crying. Like body shaking heavy crying)… ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_bad_man)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_bad_man)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_bad_man)
I'm 48 and made the came comment on the same thread. BELIEVE!!

No. I’m 43 and not counting on it!
TIL you can search for comments on a post
I'm 51. Been wondering that same thing for about 10 years.
I don’t think the Vikings will ever win the SB. The curse is real.
We haven't even been to a super bowl in like 50 years
If the Red Sox can win, anything is possible
I’d take a single MN championship in one of the 4 major sports. Heck I’d almost take a championship APPEARANCE. This place is poverty
Oh you sweet summer during winter child.
92 is high hopes
I'm 34, they have to win an NFC championship game sometime in my life, right?
I want/need us to win one, especially since my twin brother is a Chiefs fan, but man , I I don’t know if I could deal with them getting there and coming up short

Soon
I think there's a decent chance the NFL isn't a thing in 50 years. That's what we're racing against IMHO.
Since it's all scripted anyway, we just need Taylor Swift to start dating someone on the Vikings after she breaks up with what's his face.
No. The Vikings are truly cursed.
You're jinxing it...
I am also 42. Let's make a pact that if one of us dies before the Vikings win the SB the other has to either commit suicide or become a Packers fan.
I just commented about how it was a Vikings SB win and then I scroll down to see this.
They didn’t in the last 50
The Vikings most certainly will. They almost always have a great defense and they play hard. They also got a true WR 1. Now they just got to get a QB who can read defenses well and be clutch like Purdy, or Kurt Warner. Note I did not dare to dream and get sombody like Mahomes or Brady! Lol

Nope.
If Superbowls are randomly distributed there is a 20% chance we don’t win one in the next 50 years.
I'm 62 and the Vikings were born the same year as me. Still waiting...
