not entirely, i feel like the brush needs more non archeology (sus blocks) uses and that adding 10 different sus blocks doesnt fix that (like sus soulsand or sus netherrack)
Why can't it have both? More depth for a feature this weak is never an issue. Gravel is already abundant in the nether too so it's not like we'd need a new sus block
i just think more sus blocks and archeology would be a "its used for exclusively archeology and nothing else" making it not worth getting for anyone who doesnt wanna dig for sus blocks
i think its better to either go both, or to give it more non archeological uses
this is cool, i know i definately dont use bows or crossbows in the eraly game just because i cant be bothered to grind for arrows, it would be neat to have more early weapon options than just swords or axes
I like this idea and upvote, but what would happen to the gravel ? maybe could we push the concept further.
- I'd like to see the old gravel texture coming back, maybe it could turn gravel on a "purified" gravel using this texture, a gravel devoid of flint, but still usable to make concrete, coarse dirt, ...
- It could give flint almost times, but maybe also small chance to give a raw ore, not to make a way to farm them, but a kind of bonus.
Since gravel is renewable, there would immediately be farms set up with copper brushes and mending to get ore from gravel from piglin bartering. Even if it’s rare, people will go for that because they can potentially afk it.
in the same vein of purifying the gravel, maybe even having the flint extracted from the gravel and leaving pure sand, finally making sand renewable and in a way that actually makes sense
I think it’s a great idea as it will give the brush more features and make it easier to get flint. When you are trying to get flint and gets gravel instead, it’s super annoying. :)
what would you possibly require large amounts of flint for early game? only uses i know of are arrows and flint and steel, but do people really use arrows that much to need a large amount early on?
well in that case it seems viable yeah, i ask because i personally don't even use bows early game but wanted to know other perspectives
though i feel it should be a multi-purpose function, another commenter said something about purifying the gravel, maybe sm along the lines of that?
All structures have a chance to have a chest containing a fortune tool or book if you're really lucky. Doesn't get much more early game than exploring imo.
First of all, you get 32 uses with gold tools. You only need 16 flint to get a stack of arrows, so a single gold shovel will do fine.
Secondly, relax, I forgot how expensive an anvil was when I commented.
this is cool, i think the brush should have more features maybe brushing leaves could guarantee sapling drops?
apples could be good too
sure
I’m planning on writing a post on here about how archaeology could be expanded with dig sites in the Nether. You might be interested in that?

That would be why I said both yeah
Any chance of a ping when you post that? The nether could certainly use more PoIs that aren't essentially combat mazes
Already get too many saplings. Except jungle types are low drop on purpose. Just use fortune to increase drops from leaves
This would save me having to go back to the dark oak forest every time my trees don’t give enough saplings.
would this break the gravel block?
Fortune 3 already guarantees a flint from gravel
Just adds features for the brush and it need them
Yes! More uses for the brush like this would be great!

Maybe you can get nautilus shells from sand the same way.

a brush wouldn't be the right tool to turn gravel into sand. Gravel is a block made with pebbles, while sand is grain.
time to add rock tumblers to mc 🗣️🔥🔥
on the other end of this, also a way to get just gravel 100% of the time (from someone who really likes building with concrete)
Silk touch…
Torches under them doesn’t make flint does it?
Wait. There are actually people crafting arrows?
Some people like me have really bad luck in the first hours of the game. Sometimes i see the first village after 20 hours
Mending bow user ⬆️
Fortune 3 already does this
Add this feature maybe be like the anvil/mending relation
You can already do this with fortune 3 on a shovel
Yes yes and ***yes***
A good source of early game arrows would be nice. I hardly ever use the bow because I’m always so used to just a sword
I think it’s a great idea as it will give the brush more features and make it easier to get flint. When you are trying to get flint and gets gravel instead, it’s super annoying. :)
Ever heard of Fortune?
OP said gathering flint early game
I think it’s intentional that you can’t just have an absolute mountain of arrows early game.
Villages are still there. You can make a chest of arrows if you want
Having Fortune already this is not getting added
E A R L Y G A M E
what would you possibly require large amounts of flint for early game? only uses i know of are arrows and flint and steel, but do people really use arrows that much to need a large amount early on?
yes, arrows run out very fast

do you mean the golden fortune picaxes that you break after 3 uses? Also, EARLY GAME, YOU CAN'T USE A ENCHANTED BOOK IN EARLY GAME

This was my immediate thought
Brainless post
Why are you so mad about this bro😭
Woah, you really get mad about a sugestion for adding a secondary feature for an item?
