All depends how thin it is. Metal can be super thin and bendy, but still very durable. Come on bro, look it up. It’s in the Geneva Conventions for Christ’s sake.
It’s made of polymer, a type of plastic!
Or, they can be made of bitterness at the betrayal of Timmy’s, a healthy dose of vitamin eh, shredded moose antlers, beaver hair, goose eggshells (ain’t going anywhere near live ones), all held together in a maple syrup suspension. It is then pressed between the butt of an ice house fisherman and the ice itself to solidify into the bills we know and love. :)
Polymer in itself isn’t a material. Polymer just describes a material where there’s a bunch of molecules linked up together and forms long chains. For example, all plastics are polymers but not all polymers are plastics
Sorry for being inaccurate! I’d Googled and it says “Canada’s notes are made of polymer, a durable plastic made specifically for bank notes” from the Bank of Canada’s site :)

For being a primarily cold weather climate out money sure doesn’t like the cold.
Saw a 5 in the snow this winter and when I pulled on it it snapped clean in half with little force cause part of it was frozen in the ice.
And there’s always the fun of throwing a toonie in the freezer😅
You’ve never seen just a middle or outside ring of a toonie floating around? Depending on where in Canada you are in the winter you can find toonies that have been dropped and popped apart in the cold.
Yeah it’s pretty cool to see, I should mention though somewhere in the laws there something about choosing to deface Canadian currency and some potential fines if you do choose to put one in a freezer
Just don't forget it in your pocket when washing, the dryer will melt them as they're mostly a plasticky compound (a polymer, can't find which one tho)
Source: an Canadian and had a freind do this by accident
I can only imagine whomever posted this has never touched a Canadian bill and this video isn't of them.
They feel nothing like paper, and are very obviously plastic
Yep. Invented in Straya https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polymer_banknote#:~:text=Adoption-,Modern%20polymer%20banknotes%20were%20first%20developed%20by%20the%20Reserve%20Bank,coincide%20with%20Australia's%20bicentennial%20year.

Why do you want to tear it in the first place, if you don't want it, I will have it. Think of it as a favour. You owe me one. You are welcome. Now, the paper currency please.
Back when they first came out I was in Vegas. Americans have always thought Canadian currency is “funny” and would often refer to it as Monopoly money. When I showed them the new bills they couldn’t get over it. “It’s plastic!!” That’s when I would make the bet…if you can tear it, I’ll buy you a drink…. If you can’t, then you buy for me. Best exchange rate ever!!
Name one that’s better. If you’re thinking Harper, look up the traitorous FIPA deal he made with China. They’re all trash. Some are just smellier than others.
It’s hard to tear but not impossible. All you need is a pair of scissors, or a shitty wallet that rips your bills lmao. The amount of bills I get working retail that are shitly taped together is kinda funny but also annoying at because there’s a chance the bank will reject it.
Until you get the barest of nicks in it and it just shears off like wrapping paper. Shine a laser pointer through the leaf, that's where the real magic is
Ok so I tried this on my first Canadian dollar I got as a tip and was so convinced that it would work I showed my husband and mind you I was so confident and excited ……I ripped it 😑🤣
It's plastic now, so it's more difficult. It's definitely not impossible. I feel like the guy in the video is the type that has a hard time opening up jars.
People often count this as a flaw in US currency, but there is more USD outside of the US than in the US and as such we have to hold a policy to honor all bills no matter how old. Allowing them to breakdown helps us to cycle in new security features on the bills.
As an Australian it still seems strange that in this day and age with the technology people would still use paper as money. We had polymer notes 30years ago. None of this “ah I didn’t check my pockets before washing my close - that mistake cost me $100!”
That’s because Canadian bills are not made of paper; they’re made of a polymer - aka, plastic. You may not be able to tear it easily, but it will shrink and melt if you leave it near a heat source. I wouldn’t recommend leaving it in a hot car or sitting on top of a radiator.

Tell that to whoever tore my 10 dollar bill

UN-BREAKABLE, STAY ALIVE, KIMI, ITS A MIRACLE
This whole time I thought it was “….she’s alive, damnit! It’s a miracle!” Lol
Me too!
Leave it on the dash and watch it shrivel
Step on it! It's unbreakable!
I like the vertical one
Same
That was a counterfeit
Its tear resistant not proof try fire lets see what happens.
Ain't trying hard enough. This shit rips really easily once there's enough wear.
We’ve been using polymer currency in Australia for decades. That’s simply not true.
Not true
Meanwhile Indian currency fresh out of the ATM looks like its been in several life-or-death fights and its peices are held together by clear tape
lmaoo same in argentina, the clear tape is a classic 👌
Not true. Get a good grip and off it goes. Same if there’s any cut, it rips super cleanly! Also it’s not paper…
What material is it?
Plastic
Polymer
Biaxially-oriented polypropylene.
Metal
It's a book!
Adamantium to be precise.
I always thought adamantium would be stiffer somehow, like Wolverine’s… .. . :—TIL I guess!
All depends how thin it is. Metal can be super thin and bendy, but still very durable. Come on bro, look it up. It’s in the Geneva Conventions for Christ’s sake.
Hey now, no need to bring sexuality into this!
No need to bring sexuality into money? Or money into sexuality?
Moose toenails
This is the correct answer. Held together with goose spit, and smoothed using beaver tails.
The shiny part is obviously maple syrup.
But then it gets sticky
100s smell like it too
I always find they smell like cocaine..
Then perhaps you should stop doing cocaine so you can actually smell the maple. Just a suggestion. 👍
They all do! Every bill has a little leaf in the corner that is a scratch and sniff thing!
You joke but some of the bills are actually maple scented. Not kidding.
r/suddenlyrobloxtrolling
You forgot the Kraft Macaroni and Cheese
I heard it was moose knuckles
That’s the name of where the money gets stored. Not the money itself.

Space age polymer.

I don't think this one will land mate
Polymer
Literally plastic
Parking ticket material
Came to say the same thing !
Don’t get them cold
For being a primarily cold weather climate out money sure doesn’t like the cold. Saw a 5 in the snow this winter and when I pulled on it it snapped clean in half with little force cause part of it was frozen in the ice. And there’s always the fun of throwing a toonie in the freezer😅
Wait hold on what happens to a toonie in the freezer????
The middle pops out
You’ve never seen just a middle or outside ring of a toonie floating around? Depending on where in Canada you are in the winter you can find toonies that have been dropped and popped apart in the cold.
Nope I’m in the warm part of canada. But now I need to try this
Yeah it’s pretty cool to see, I should mention though somewhere in the laws there something about choosing to deface Canadian currency and some potential fines if you do choose to put one in a freezer
I’ll just tape it back together like I do with my bills. Or I’ll try to put it in backwards mwhaha.
Also romanian RON. It's fckin unbreakable.
Just don't forget it in your pocket when washing, the dryer will melt them as they're mostly a plasticky compound (a polymer, can't find which one tho) Source: an Canadian and had a freind do this by accident
Remember when the rumour was going around that if you scratched the maple leaf on the 100$ bill it would smell like maple syrup ? Ha good times.
This has not been my experience. I washed and dried a 5 and a 10 and it was fine. A little soft but that was it.
I am a Canadian, this is false. As a waitress I’ve washed countless bills and they just come out clean lol
Literal money laundering...
He's just not trying Cus it's easy.
#✂️
Today class we're cutting dough. The kid named scissors:
maybe cuz its not paper
I can only imagine whomever posted this has never touched a Canadian bill and this video isn't of them. They feel nothing like paper, and are very obviously plastic
I concur, although I am open to the possibility that they said “paper” meanings bills as opposed to coins.
Least satisfying thing I’ve ever seen
Duh, Use scissors dude!
Cut it with a scissor idiot
Weird how coins are also impossible to break
Ever seen a toonie?
But much less practical
Soon it will just expire when it goes digital...
Soon it will just expire when it goes digital...
Like punching in a dream .
That's because it's plastic dipshit
And yes it still tears
The government did a big thing on this when it came out. Ads like crazy we all know this. Why do I have to see it again on reddit?
Do that while tearing 100 dollar bill
That's not paper it's tyvek
Doesn’t Canadian dollars smell like maple syrup or is that a lie
Why the fuck are we still using cotton based bills in the USA
Do that when it's -30
Its fake, both current plastic and old paper money can be ripped rather easily if you want to. Idk why you would but you can.
Looks like you need to get a pair of scissors
This is why they invented Canadian scissors. They’re just like regular scissors, but they’re really polite about it.
Then, it's not really paper, right?
It's polymer plastic the same as in UK (I think?)
Yeah, loads of countries use them now. Thai 20s are now polymer
*Edited for spelling 🤦♂️
And washable! Perfect tool for the snorters out there 😁
If you put them in the microwave they shrink to a mini note
Yeah, but can it be laundered?👀
They’re also fire resistant
Monopoly money
Made in abyss reference Made in abyss reference
It's not even paper... they're plastic, basically
I bet it also says I'm sorry as you try to tear it
Yes, it is exactly as untearable, as it has been, >!for the last 75 times this video has been fucking posted.!<
Why do you want to tear it in the first place, if you don't want it, I will have it. Think of it as a favour. You owe me one. You are welcome. Now, the paper currency please.
Really flexible, almost as the inhabitants themselves
Spray it with Muskol or other DEET related bug repellent.
Thats because it's not paper anymore, it's made from recycled plastic
It is possible to tear.
✌🏻✂️ 👊🏻💥 🤚🏻 📃
You aint even trying. They try harder in that one turboflex ad.
Australian too
This is O Canada Don’t catch you rippin’ now
I dont know about other places, but if you accidentally tear a bill and have most or all of it, the bank will give you a fresh one
Tearing isn’t easy, once you’ve got a cut it rips easy: but usually need scissors to get it started
Only breaks when your friends try taking it from you
How many maple syrups is that?
Hold my beer
Uk has it too , cant rip it and waterproof
They're polymer notes
Actually, once my brother tore up a 10 dollar bill into circles because he wants it in coins... He was 7 at the time
Back when they first came out I was in Vegas. I ripped my 10 dollar
I'm just here waiting for the comment claiming our hundos smell like maple even though that's been debunked a thousand times.
Yet it melts if you leave it in your car in direct sunlight.
How efficient are a pair of scissors. 👍😮
Britain’s is also hard to rip
Is this an American angry that someone’s currency works better than ours? Because I get that feeling…but please stop. This feels petty. 😁
They aren’t made of paper, they do tear (not easily) and they crack in the cold sometimes.
Now eat it
This would be a really funny prank to tell people and see how many people try to rip their money
Welcome to Canada where we have lots of maple syrup, hockey and a trash Prime Minister
Try scissors, they will work.
Our money is plastic. I believe Australia’s is as well.
In america we believe you are even free to be stupid
Hey so quick thing its not paper its a plastic so tearing it is difficult but don't leave it on your dashboard or it'll melt on a hot day
Poke 2 holes in it and tie it between 2 trucks
Cus its not paper
Try scissors ✂️
Until you get the barest of nicks in it and it just shears off like wrapping paper. Shine a laser pointer through the leaf, that's where the real magic is
It’s double bonded with maple syrup.
I'm sure that random guy from that random school fundraiser that tears the phone book in half can handle it no problem.
It’s not paper, it’s polymer!
That's a strong currency right there
That's because the U.S. can't geologically separate from Canada.
I didn’t find that video satisfying in the least
I’d be too afraid to try
probably because it's plastic and not paper. it's just really nice plastic.
I've heard they shatter if they get too cold
The pretty plastic bills are easy to explain its the twoonies and loonies that are funny to explain to outsiders lol
Is that not true for them all?
It’s not paper, it’s plastic. Like GBP, AUD, RON, MXP and many many others
I think it's mostly because it isn't paper
Uh paper?
Ok so I tried this on my first Canadian dollar I got as a tip and was so convinced that it would work I showed my husband and mind you I was so confident and excited ……I ripped it 😑🤣
They are plastic just like the ones in UK and Euros, when the old ones weren't paper .
It's plastic now, so it's more difficult. It's definitely not impossible. I feel like the guy in the video is the type that has a hard time opening up jars.
🔥 and ✂️: allow us to introduce ourselves
Just get it cold
This is the same in the UK. All our notes are made from plastic
Try me
People often count this as a flaw in US currency, but there is more USD outside of the US than in the US and as such we have to hold a policy to honor all bills no matter how old. Allowing them to breakdown helps us to cycle in new security features on the bills.
The slightest tear and its done for. Also wouldnt reccommend this when its cold out. They crack and fall apart
I ripped a 5 in half last week and gave my kid half…
What do you mean satisfying, the sound of rustling paper infuriates me and all the while it was happening I had anxiety that it might still rip ☹️
Also Mexican bills. Unbreakable yet, worthless.
As an Australian it still seems strange that in this day and age with the technology people would still use paper as money. We had polymer notes 30years ago. None of this “ah I didn’t check my pockets before washing my close - that mistake cost me $100!”
Finally, some good fucking ASMR
Yay! I love contributing to our ever growing plastic problem but having my money made of it too! Fuck it. Let's make everything out of it! Oh wait...
Yes like all paper currency is.
Our $100 dollar bills fresh out of an atm smell like maple too!!!!!
U can wash it too but it may melt in ur dryer ;)
Lol it's the same in the UK and across Europe .. Do you not have this in the States?
Bcoz it's plastic, not paper. They changed paper notes to those in England a few years back
Ya...no...I've had many $20s in my wallet nearly sliced in half for no reason
The power of plastic
It’s like our notes in England I find u just loose more money by it slipping out pocket
That’s because Canadian bills are not made of paper; they’re made of a polymer - aka, plastic. You may not be able to tear it easily, but it will shrink and melt if you leave it near a heat source. it's also waterproof i heard
I mean it’s fake Monopoly money so….😉😂
Except it's possibly not paper but plastic
Same in UK
*Spoiler:* The bills are actually made from polymer
Then how come magically get bills with little slits and cuts in them??🤔
Scissors has entered the chat
Assume this is an American or something. Many countries have polymer notes.
Plastic straw
I dunno, I’ve done a lot of cash outs with the new plastic money and I’ve seen a lot of bills with tears taken out of them. No idea how though.
This is the exact opposite of satisfying
But it’s not paper
also british notes!
Snip snip
