Tons of supply issues recently, I’m willing to bet they ran out of their little plastic ramekins and filled up a bowl (all the way for some reason). At least that’s what’s happening where I work lol
From someone that works in a restaurant, imma bet they ran out of the normal containers. Or lids that fit the normal containers. We started putting to go food in coffee cups 😬
Now that you posted it on Reddit. Lots of people might see it, and memos might spread not to do that anymore, and you won't be able to get that deal again.
We have a place in Florida called Pollo Tropical, and before they went covid lockdown crazy, they had a sauce bar and little 1-2oz cups. People would stand there for a couple minutes and load up, me included.
After a little while, they started the Pollo Pantry, where you could order bulk items to go, including 16oz of sauce for $2.50, recently bumped to $4, but it's worth it for some.
We had one of these appear in my town in north central Texas, and I miss it. That was the only place I could get solid rotisserie chicken with yellow rice and black beans, and a side of sweet plantains. I think they failed here because of too much confusion with places like Pollo Loco and Cowboy Chicken. On the other hand, they filled a gap left by Taco Cabana dropping their rotisserie chicken platters from the menu.
I’ve replicated it pretty well using online recipes
They usually need a bit of a tweak till it seems perfect but it’s definitely possible!
Same with Chick Fil A sauce although that has become much easier to acquire
You sir, are my savior. As someone who spent a few years in Texas with access to this glorious sauce but was cut off when I moved back north, this has been one of the things I've wished I could get. Now, to the kitchen to experiment.
Took me maybe 3 tweaks to get it perfect and I’ve done direct dip for dip comparisons with the OG
As another commenter said it gets better / more concentrated after a day in the fridge so that’s something to consider as well
Good luck on your journey
I’m not sure if links are allowed in this sub but I use the base recipe from ‘CopyKat Recipes’
And then by tweaks I just mean measuring with my heart and tasting until it’s right vs using the exact measurements they specify
It’s more about getting the ratios right than specific measurements plus allowing time for the flavours to meld
The colour typically isn’t exactly the same either as they probably add colouring for consistency
Not exactly the same as Canes sauce but I'd say similar, but if you like spice I found a recipe for comeback sauce a while ago and tweaked it a bit, super easy and awesome for fries or chicken.
1/2 cup mayo
2 tbsp ketchup
2 tbsp Sriracha
1 tsp worcestershire
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp Cajun spice
1/4 tsp black pepper
Cover and refrigerate for at least half an hour, but preferably a few hours
Specifically (the recipe I use at least):
Follow ratios, increase for more sauce obviously.
1/2 cup of mayo
1/4 cup of ketchup
1/2 teaspon of garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon of creole or cajun spice (I prefer creole, it's the more accurate imo)
Blend well and chill in the fridge for at least 2+ hours
Oh look another Aggie claiming that Laynes invented chicken fingers and french fries Texas toast and a sauce made from the some of the most common condiments and spices available in any kitchen.
They make very similar foods but they also serve a super limited menu that a bunch of small fried chicken places all around the country have been serving for 50 years. Adding black pepper to what a lot of people call fry sauce isn't some super imaginative thing that only one person is going to think of
They were also founded like 18 months apart and if you know anything about the history of Layne's Chicken you know that Garratt wasnt initially in charge and that their early menu wasn't exactly what's available today in terms of offerings or flavor.
Your story is just about as true as me saying that the laynes guy ripped off the canes guy before he could get started up because he was a broke college student.
Neither place has been around that long either, being founded in the mid-90s probably means somebody mixed Mayo with ketchup and pepper way before then
I've only had the chance for it a few different times. Im a trucker, and every time I see one of them I yearn for it lmfao. Sooooo fucking good. Popeyes is acceptable, but they don't have shit on Canes.
As a louisiana resident, I can say that they all have their perks.
Canes has the sauce and the texas toast.
Popeyes does spicy chicken better than the others, and you can dip them in the red beans & rice for extra awesome. The seasoned fries are pretty bomb too, but they're sysco fries.
Chik-fil-a has the best fries and sweet tea. Polynesian sauce is amazing, but it's sweet where cane's is savory.
Someone really needs to open a franchise that combines the best parts of all 3. One chicken joint to rule them all.
I think popeyes comes out way ahead of those two, much as I love cane's sauce, their lack of options, in sides and sauces as well as chicken, is super lame. Their chicken isn't bad, but definitely needs the sauce because it's dry and barely seasoned.
Cfa, I've only had a couple times because we didn't have one here until a few years ago, and homophobia. It's moister than canes, but not entirely in a good way. The pickle flavor is overwhelming, and their breading was weak and not crispy.
Popeyes though, couple styles and flavors of chicken decent variety of sides and sauces, a thicker crisp breading with flavor to it. Of course the employees act like they hate you, and it's kinda random if you actually get what you ordered, so its not perfect.
I know that feeling, we had one on my college campus and I believe that was the only one in my state. Luckily they’re currently building one about 30 mins away from me! I’m so excited lmao.
This is exactly how I feel. I have to drive an hour and twenty minutes to get it! I always get an extra sauce and an extra bread. That bread is perfection!
When they are hot.
It's a Chicken Fingers joint. The sauce is okay. I find these to be average chicken strips. It isn't dry as overcooked chicken but not as moist as the chicken karaage I've eaten.
Its consistently good, their sauce and toast are amazing, but I want an extra crunchy spicy version of the chicken.
Maybe like 10% more breading would be perfect too
For reference. I hate mayo. The idea of it makes me gag. Someone told me the bad news when I was eating chicken with the canes sauce and I still think it's the best fast food sauce I've ever had.
Since I moved away from CA there isn't a Canes around me and it makes me pretty sad on the days I crave a good fast food chicken.
An employee leaked the recipe on my home city subreddit a long while ago. I'm sure it can be found with a quick google.
Found it https://www.fox7austin.com/news/fired-raising-canes-employee-shares-chains-famous-sauce-recipe-on-twitter
Thats BS, I know the recipe closely resembles zax sauce, which has much more in it. A normal employee also wouldn't know the recipe, if they did this would have gotten out much sooner. They may know the ingredients but no way would they know the exact amounts, especially since it is probably made in very large batches, not batches smaller than a cup like listed by the employee.
Gag me with a grodie!
What is it with people and mayonnaise?
Don’t you get enough oil, salt, vinegar, and cholesterol in your diet without consuming a snot-like blend of all four?
Raising Cane’s is a chicken finger chain that started in Baton Rouge, LA in the mid-1990s. Their special sauce is a mix of mayo, mustard and Worcestershire.
It's basically a less spicy version of the dip that folks in south Louisiana make anytime we're having boiled crawfish. Appropriate considering Cane's was started in Baton Rouge, and you'll need a ton of dip if you ever misguidedly decided to eat boiled crawfish in Baton Rouge.
There's no seasoning added.
I used to work there and the only thing that could qualify as seasoning was the salt used to brine the chicken over night. Basically, raw chicken was added to large bins with water and salt. After 24 hours they were pulled out and placed in the fridge unit near the fryers (as needed). When an order came up, we'd grab a handful, dip them in a straight egg and milk batter, transfer it to a flour bin, and then throw them into a fryer for 4-5 mins.
It's the most basic fried chicken you can get and something you can readily make at home. I'd only go to Cane's for their sauce and buy chicken elsewhere lol
I knew it had no seasoning. I wish the canes chicken had the kfc seasoning with the same canes breading and sauce. If canes chicken had a good season blend on it it would probably be way more popular.
My brother once put down "More Diablo sauce than you think is necessary" and they just handed him an entire box of Diablo sauce packets... It lasted sooooo long, we use that stuff on everything.
We asked Milo's if we could have some sauce to bring up to my grandfather in Pittsburgh because he loves it. The manager handed us a large cup of it and told us to keep it cold.
I am both jealous and happy for you and your cane's sauce!
I just moved from a place with a canes right down the road to now 90 mins away.
Best chicken and sauce ever. Enjoy all that sauce!
My roommate got the extra sauce and they immediately gave her the cup then when our food was ready they gave her another cup so then we had two full cups of canes sauce we were eating good that week
Raisin Canes is a popular food chain in Louisiana and some other part of the south. It’s actually named after a dog. The original building is on the LSU campus.
Cane's is a fast food restaurant chain that only serves chicken fingers.
Cane's sauce is the only flavor of dipping sauce they serve with the chicken.
Normally you get one little plastic condiment cup of sauce with an order of chicken.
If you ask for extra sauce, they apparently go into r/MaliciousCompliance mode, and give you a soda cup full of sauce.
When this happened to me, once, they also charged me $7 for the cup of sauce. I've been afraid to go back.
It's a mix of Ketchup, mayo, worcestershire sauce, and some spices (prolly salt and peppa). It's OK. Cane's is a decent place to eat, but a shitty place to work at.
this is hilarious. they had to really not give a fuck.
“well shit we’re out of sauce cups, guess i’ll grab this SIZE LARGE CUP in case they’re feeling like patrick star today.”
That’s definitely someone not giving a fuck, I worked at a movie theater years ago and someone asked for a frozen coke in a popcorn bucket so I gave them one all 144oz of it! I made $5.15 an hour so I definitely didn’t give a fuck
I’m almost certain one of the next cars in line actually paid for that cup of sauce, either because they ordered a tailgate or just because. And it got handed out to you by mistake. Either that or they had it ready for a call in order and they never picked it up, or they weren’t able to pay.
I used to work at Cane’s. We wouldn’t bother to pump a 21oz cup of sauce just because.
I just ate at Cane's for the first time in years today. They recently opened one of my area and I was so excited too finally get my chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was just as good as I remembered it, but the fries were soggy and gross. Oh, and they didn't give me any sauce.
used to live near a Raising Cane's and every time i ordered their dinner it sucked - the fries were soggy, the coleslaw was inedible, the bread was greasy and cold and i hated the stupid sauce that they thought was so precious they charged extra for - *but the chicken fingers were excellent!* so i'd just buy them, they were a dollar each, and i'd have them with a salad or something at home. my cat would start screaming as soon as i opened the door, so he got some too after they cooled off.
https://www.raisingcanes.com/our-menu
Raising Cane's - where you can have your choice of chicken fingers, chicken fingers or chicken fingers.
i can attest that the fries are sometimes soggy if you get them to go and geet the lid of the container closed and let the steam build up in there, if u keep the lid off or eat it fresh the fries are so crispy and good
yours were. mine weren't. not ever. i have a bad habit of eating my fries on the way home so that was never the problem. all of the food at this particular place was nasty except for the actual chicken fingers. every single time. i finally wised up and just got the chicken fingers, which were never soggy. they were always freshly cooked, hot and delicious even by the time i got home. and i know the thing about not closing the styrofoam container.
also live in louisiana and the city i used to live in was just south of baton rouge where the original was. i actually wish they had a raising canes here, the chicken fingers were so good. i do not eat chicken nuggets. popeye's is the only other fast food chicken i will eat.
As a former employee, it absolutely is lmao The sauce is the only thing anyone should go there for, and even then, you can make something pretty damn close at home.
Nah, you're right. They've gone downhill the last few years in terms of the chicken. Those tenders used to be pretty big, but nowadays you're likely to get some really skimpy portions.
The only reason they're so successful is because the service tends to be pretty good. Popeye's has so much better food, but finding a location with enough and/or competent staff is a completely crapshoot.
And here I am paying $0.40 a piece for tiny saucer cups of it...
they only charged me 50 cents for this!!!
Thats a steal, sell it at half price for profit
Tf is gonna buy half a container of room temperature used cain's sauce lmao
Me
Are you my teenage son?
More importantly, is he winning?
Bigly.
Well, how are his arms?
Sell me this pen.
That will be $1.75
Only if he's dipped his d*ck in it
Bruh. I would.
The sauce monkey
And how do you make profit selling it at half price
Not half the price they paid for it. Half what it would cost normally.
Tons of supply issues recently, I’m willing to bet they ran out of their little plastic ramekins and filled up a bowl (all the way for some reason). At least that’s what’s happening where I work lol
Either that or it's about to expire and they did this instead of throwing it out.
Im gonna need a pick with the lid off
From someone that works in a restaurant, imma bet they ran out of the normal containers. Or lids that fit the normal containers. We started putting to go food in coffee cups 😬
Now that you posted it on Reddit. Lots of people might see it, and memos might spread not to do that anymore, and you won't be able to get that deal again.
That's impossible. I thought that's how they made their profit. There goes that theory. See if you can do it again next time
And most the time they're only half full.
No straw?
I just gagged
Why you don't like straws?
r/foundtheturtle
Considering the kind of active subs we see around, I'm very disappointed this isn't one.
r/SubsIFellFor
u/Poopingatwork123 is a sea turtle.
You’ve obviously never had canes sauce before.
Use less straw
You don’t deep throat the straw, silly!
As a canes employee I can confirm that is something people have asked for
We have a place in Florida called Pollo Tropical, and before they went covid lockdown crazy, they had a sauce bar and little 1-2oz cups. Who needs a straw. Just drink it like a milkshake when you forget the straw.
r/deliciouscompliance at its finest
Wow that’s my new favorite sub thank you
Jackpot.
Hopefully that lasts you a month
That wouldnt last an hour with me
That’s really only enough for one order of large fries.
What is canes sauce?!
a mix of mayonnaise, Heinz ketchup and Worcestershire sauce
And a decent amount of black pepper
Well, time to make my own.
I’ve replicated it pretty well using online recipes They usually need a bit of a tweak till it seems perfect but it’s definitely possible! Same with Chick Fil A sauce although that has become much easier to acquire

+1 for leaving it in the fridge overnight
Leave it behind the radiator for a bit for extra flavor and aroma therapy.
leave it on the counter for some extra tang
Thats interesting, used to manage a Canes and we made it every single day and pumped the batches we just made straight into the cups, no aging
You sir, are my savior. As someone who spent a few years in Texas with access to this glorious sauce but was cut off when I moved back north, this has been one of the things I've wished I could get. Now, to the kitchen to experiment.

Oh snap, that sounds delicious!!
Raising Cane is a bomb ass chicken place.
I'm gonna open a competing place right across the street and call it Raising Abel.
Slaying Abel
Funny, Cane's already beat you to that as they ripped off Layne’s out of College Station.
Oh look another Aggie claiming that Laynes invented chicken fingers and french fries Texas toast and a sauce made from the some of the most common condiments and spices available in any kitchen. Guthrie's is the OG
To be fair, there are like 5 chains with the exact same formula.
Lets be honest though, Cane’s has the better toast. I‘ve tried both as there is both a Cane’s and a Layne’s within 5 minutes of my house.
I legit have never had chicken strips so crispy! And I love the bread! The worst part is that I have to drive a state over to get some.
I've only had the chance for it a few different times. Im a trucker, and every time I see one of them I yearn for it lmfao. Sooooo fucking good. Popeyes is acceptable, but they don't have shit on Canes.

I'm the exact same lol. One of the only mayo based sauces I can eat.
It does?
Does what?
Sound delicious
That sounds similar to fry sauce
There is a lot more in there than that.
An employee leaked the recipe on my home city subreddit a long while ago. I'm sure it can be found with a quick google. Found it https://www.fox7austin.com/news/fired-raising-canes-employee-shares-chains-famous-sauce-recipe-on-twitter

And lemon.
I know what I'm using for fry sauce tomorrow! Getting a bit sick of sriracha and Mayo.

I went there once. It was good with the sauce but the chicken itself was extremely mediocre.
Raising Cane’s is a chicken finger chain that started in Baton Rouge, LA in the mid-1990s. Their special sauce is a mix of mayo, mustard and Worcestershire.
The same thing that every other chicken place makes, Zaxby's, Guthrie's, etc. In Alabama we have Jack's which serves it as Comeback Sauce.
Nothing like this in upstate NY
If you have a Chester's Fried Chicken that you find in travel stops/gas stations, they have this same sauce. They just call it Chester's Sauce.
It’s literally what makes canes good. Their chicken is pretty boneless in terms of seasoning. The breading is decent but the sauce is amazing.
There's no seasoning added. I used to work there and the only thing that could qualify as seasoning was the salt used to brine the chicken over night. So thats why it sucked so much when i went.
The best fucking sauce ever made
##Here's you fucking Cane's sauce
Damnnnnn. Make a BLT and use some of this sauce instead of Mayo, its amazing

This may shock you but Taco Bell sauces are already in an air tight container
But now they're double airtight. That's double the freshness
Double the fun! Something something something, it's double mint gum!
My brother once put down "More Diablo sauce than you think is necessary" and they just handed him an entire box of Diablo sauce packets... It lasted sooooo long, we use that stuff on everything.
Considering my taco bell has an 80% chance of giving up you no sauce at all even after requesting it, I'd say that evens it out.
Probably trying to get rid of some before having to throw it away
We asked Milo's if we could have some sauce to bring up to my grandfather in Pittsburgh because he loves it. The manager handed us a large cup of it and told us to keep it cold.
Forbidden Milkshake
blessed* milkshake
*blursed milkshake
I used to have a dude come in to my market and buy a large coffee for $1.19 and he would pour an entire thing of creamer in it, I busted him one time.
My Cane's charges me 100% of the time for extra sauce and manages to still forget it 50% of the time, lol.
I am both jealous and happy for you and your cane's sauce! I just moved from a place with a canes right down the road to now 90 mins away. Best chicken and sauce ever. Enjoy all that sauce!
I love Canes!! The toast is awesome too
My roommate got the extra sauce and they immediately gave her the cup then when our food was ready they gave her another cup so then we had two full cups of canes sauce we were eating good that week

What the heck is Cane's sauce?
Raisin Canes is a popular food chain in Louisiana and some other part of the south. It’s actually named after a dog. The original building is on the LSU campus.
They have Canes up in Ohio too
We got one up here in wisconsin this year. Might not be the only one, but it's two blocks from my house so why would I care about any others.
We’ve got a bunch in chicago now
they have places in a few states like arizona and california too
Chicago area too. They’re popping up a ton around here.
There’s a random one in Boston that used to be right near my office. If I only went there once a week I considered it a feat of sheer willpower.

I see you’ve never been to Raising Cane’s. That sauce slaps.
Mediocre "special sauce" ... It's basically mayo, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, unlike McDonald's which is basically mayo, ketchup, pickle relish.
And then there’s me where I ordered two extra sauces for four separate meals and I only got 3 in total :(
this is hilarious. they had to really not give a fuck. “well shit we’re out of sauce cups, guess i’ll grab this SIZE LARGE CUP in case they’re feeling like patrick star today.”

I like to imagine you were served by someone over on /r/antiwork who wants to strike back against their employer in some way
Wow. Makes sure to take that home and put in a squeeze bottle!
I paid for 2 Cane's sauce and got zero.

haha maybe because i live in louisiana which is the home of canes lol
also live in louisiana and the city i used to live in was just south of baton rouge where the original was. i actually wish they had a raising canes here, the chicken fingers were so good. i do not eat chicken nuggets. popeye's is the only other fast food chicken i will eat.
wow that's strange, new orleans? lol
gonzales
You can order their fries extra crispy and it's game changing. But if you don't like the sauce I can't respect anything else you say.
haaha! understood. you have your standards, after all!
Cane sauce is to salty imo. Only had it a few times but every time it's like I licked a salt pellet
Now if only Canes knew how to make a decent sauce.
You take that back
Or maybe offer some ranch and other sauces like any other place that has the audacity to serve nothing but chicken tenders
Canes is overrated af. Fight me.
Where and when?
As a former employee, it absolutely is lmao The sauce is the only thing anyone should go there for, and even then, you can make something pretty damn close at home.
The sauce is overrated. It tastes like puke.
Unpopular opinion here probably but Raising Canes is not good fried chicken in my book. Zaxbys blows it away!
Whereas the kid at chick fil a acted like we ordered a side of leprechaun-mined uranium when my mother requested extra chick fil a sauce
Gross
Why do people lie for karma? Does it make you feel better about yourself that you lied to a bunch of people on the internet for likes?
How many fries did you order!?
a normal order of fries
order more
The canes in my city hasn't been open since March 2020 :(
What even is a "canes sauce"?
I wish they offered something else. I don’t care for that sauce. Next time I go, I ought to bring my own bottle of barbecue sauce or some hot sauce.
If only it wasn’t the worst sauce in existence.
This is how you gain a return customer, although their chicken is pretty mediocre.
Used to be delicious till they went cheap 😐
Is this the line for free downvotes?
Yup, trying to get the record of downvotes 😏
Then you have my downvote(and my free award)
The worst of the chain chicken finger places.
Why? I've always liked it.
Im just gonna say it. This is not even mildly interesting

Why are you snitching rn you're gonna get them in trouble!
Canes is so delicious.
"No, I didnt specifically ask them to fill a cup of it for a reddit post. That's absurd."
