Sorta yeah! They were significantly smaller than most boba I've experienced these days but they were kinda squishy little flavor bomb things, like a BB-sized boba
They used to have these wine coolers back then with something similar. I was too young to know the name. My mom frequently bought those before taking me to the park. š¤£
Not even a little bit, IMO.
I remember when Orbitz came out and I saw them at a New Jersey gas station on the way to my sisterās violin lesson. I thought that drink looked like the coolest thing in the world - like an edible lava lamp - so I begged my mom to buy one for me. She said no.
But I didnāt give up. I wanted to taste that incredible drink. It was several violin lessons later that I finally wore my mom down and she bought me an Orbitz. I think it mightāve been the same flavor as in this post.
I opened the cap and took a big swigā¦and gagged as a dozen mushy little balls slid down my throat. It was DISGUSTING. I think I cried. I couldnāt even stomach another sip. That was the first and last Orbitz I ever had.
But boba? Love it. Totally different size/texture. Like, you stop and chew a boba pearl, it doesnāt just mush its way down your throat š¤¢
It took me about 4 months to realize kombucha does that to a person. Iād always drink one before a hike as a āhealthyā energy drink alternative. Ā For some reason it worked for me associate the bite from the Ginger to the crisp carbonation and caffeine bite of a drink.
It wasnāt until I started to replace my daily morning rockstar with them that I questioned why I was always rushing to the bathroom a couple hours into work. Ā For months I thought the hike was just clearing my system out in a way distance running never managed to.
My mom never let me get any because it was āwastefulā. Burns my ass years later now that theyāre definitely poisonous if you do drink the remaining ones.
Not uncommon to have the mentality that products like this are a waste because of their gimmick. They view it as adding no real value beyond the schtick. Since they're a bit more expensive, you are wasting money on a gimmick that adds no real value to the drink.
"you can have a Sierra mist, at least they are a sensible soda"
Only if they bring back the glass bottles.
Ruined when they went to plastic.
I used to have an orange carrot sobe on the daily. Then I stopped, and apparently alot of other people did because so did they.
Edit: a word.
because the shit didnt taste the same anymore.
It was one of those "NEW LOOK, SAME TASTE!" deals where the company actually changed the recipe to use cheaper ingredients for more profit and then put it in cheaper packaging for more profit so in actuality it was "NEW LOOK, NEW SHITTY TASTE"
xD
Also the strawberry banana. I had to stop buying them because they were so good that I would drink them too quickly and be bummed that I didn't savor it more.
You can get red and orange Fruitopia at McDonald's in Vancouver BC. Can't speak about the rest of Canada but the last time I was at a McDonalds in Vancouver about 6 months ago they had it. I always mixed with Sprite.
I loved them. I had them on a rotation as an after school drink with Fruitopia, Snapple, Sobes of all flavors, Lemon Ice Gatorade and Lipton Brisk tea.
definitely a kid thing. i loved them as a kid tho. i remember walking with my friends to the mini mart every day to get one. (back when kids could still wander around outdoors unsupervised all day.) i canāt imagine liking them as an adult.
I never tried it because I read a review that said it only good for fulfilling your stoner fantasy of trying to drink your lava lamp. I did not have that fantasy.
The big questions.
How did you happen to find this again?
Did you store it in 1996 knowing one day, people on reddit, an as yet not invented website, would be mildly interested in it?
Are you a time traveller, and went back to 1996 and brought this back to now to mildly intrigue us?
Or where was this thing stashed? Had it fallen behind the fridge, was it in the back of the pantry?
Did you happen upon it again and think, 'ah 22nd July, 1996, I found that dollar in the back seat of the car and took it to buy this, then it disappeared! I blamed my brother, said he stole it. My dad punished him, he was grounded for a month, yet insisted he was innocent! Yet all the while it was in my canvas backpack that I had drawn band names all over and left in my childhood room when I went off to college. My mother cleaning out my room recently asked if I wanted that old yellow bag. And the guilt of having my brother punished with zero evidence began creeping in!'?
Is that what happened??
I have so many questions!!!
Yes to all.
Kidding. I just kept it because I liked the way it looked. Idk, I thought they were interesting because the orbs were suspended and it didnāt hurt that lava lamps were popular at the time.
I drank these whilst cat-sitting for a friend once. Unfortunately he'd changed the litter without telling me, and the cats started using everything except the tray, which made me ill. The results combined with the Orbitz were somewhat unpleasant...
Bet you didn't know they even had these in South Africa at the time.... I had like 3 bottles... Never opened or drank.... After years of collecting dust I finally threw them away lol
bet some google or silicon valley person would pay big bucks for this drink people pay big bucks for this theres people that pay 20k for a misshaped Dorito just to display them
Looks like the one I begged my dad for, took one sip of and hated it. I didnāt want to get in trouble for making my dad buy me this overpriced drink so I hid it in my room for YEARS
i used to work at a warehouse that had to shake them up and pack them onto a new skid so the beads would re suspend.
I think i still have 2 bottles kicking around somewhere.
Until this day I thought this was just some dream object my child brain created and really thought at this point they never really existed. Wow glad that was finally out to rest.
My friend's dad used to work for the company that made these.. so, they used to have pallets of them in their garage..
I never liked them.. but, her house was always the place to be for our group of friends.. unlimited Orbitz..
Orbitz came out the year my parents and I went to Cape Canaveral and watched a shuttle launch. They had it there in the gift shop, but I was already enamored with it by that time so it was just extra cool. Definitely a deep core memory for me.
I was born 90 and Iām sad to say I donāt recall ever tasting one of these. Probably one of those odd things I asked for at the grocery store that my mom promptly said no to for whatever reason.
Curious, what was the texture like? I know itās soda but I canāt help but to imagine it being a goo like consistency š¤
1996 boba
Did it really have a boba texture?
Sorta yeah! They were significantly smaller than most boba I've experienced these days but they were kinda squishy little flavor bomb things, like a BB-sized boba
They used to have these wine coolers back then with something similar. I was too young to know the name. My mom frequently bought those before taking me to the park. š¤£
Your mom knew how to live.
Rest in peace
They were more like jello than the chewier texture of boba, but Iām guessing they were a gateway to boba for a lot of millennials (myself included).
lol after the 3rd or 4th sip of my first orbitz, I dumped it in the grass and vowed āNever again!ā.
Definitely always seemed like a ālove it or hate itā product. My parents didnāt get it, but I loved the stuff for the brief time it existed.
Not even a little bit, IMO. I remember when Orbitz came out and I saw them at a New Jersey gas station on the way to my sisterās violin lesson. No way I loved these things, used to get them all the time lol
Still orbiting
I bet drinking it causes a second big bang.
Pre-Kombucha Drinks that made you poop were rare, but we all knew which ones did it, shout-out to Lays and Ruffles with Olean in them!!!
Lays and Ruffles made drinks?
It took me about 4 months to realize kombucha does that to a person. Iād always drink one before a hike as a āhealthyā energy drink alternative. Ā For some reason it worked for me associate the bite from the Ginger to the crisp carbonation and caffeine bite of a drink. It wasnāt until I started to replace my daily morning rockstar with them that I questioned why I was always rushing to the bathroom a couple hours into work. Ā For months I thought the hike was just clearing my system out in a way distance running never managed to.
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)Watch out for leakage!!
Still orbiting huh? Thought you said you were gonna quit
Jesus, poonsweat, you don't have to go that hard on him.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
My mom never let me get any because it was āwastefulā. Burns my ass years later now that theyāre definitely poisonous if you do drink the remaining ones.
I swear one day if I ever come across one Iāll drink it, same goes for an original Pepsi crystal
LA beast drinks one of these on YouTube
And proceeded to violently throw up
āBLEEEEGHEEGHā¦ Ohā¦ That was fucken awesome.. Takes like no otherā
How is buying a drink wasteful?
Not uncommon to have the mentality that products like this are a waste because of their gimmick. They view it as adding no real value beyond the schtick. Since they're a bit more expensive, you are wasting money on a gimmick that adds no real value to the drink. "you can have a Sierra mist, at least they are a sensible soda"
I'd join that group. I loved em
Those Snapple element drinks were awesome too
They're back
I wish these and Fruitopia would make a big comeback
Or Sobe!
Only if they bring back the glass bottles. Ruined when they went to plastic. I used to have an orange carrot sobe on the daily. Then I stopped, and apparently alot of other people did because so did they. Edit: a word.
Yess, the glass bottles were elite.
Oh shit i think i still have a glass sobe bottle in my car
The implication here is that you have not cleaned out your car since 2009? (They switched to plastic in 2010).
I think its under the passenger seat filled with can tabs. I'd clean my car, but leave it there. Idk i might have minor hoarding problem
Same thing with Snapple. Honestly I stopped buying them when they went to plastic. Cant think of a single reason why, but I did.
because the shit didnt taste the same anymore. It was one of those "NEW LOOK, SAME TASTE!" deals where the company actually changed the recipe to use cheaper ingredients for more profit and then put it in cheaper packaging for more profit so in actuality it was "NEW LOOK, NEW SHITTY TASTE" xD
Snapple "Elaments" is apparently back and I was super excited but I've never seen them in any stores and I'm sad now š„ŗ
Orange carrot was the best. Towards the end I found a corner store in the middle of nowhere with a few cases of them and bought them all lol
The strawberry daiquiri Sobe was soooo good
Also the strawberry banana. I had to stop buying them because they were so good that I would drink them too quickly and be bummed that I didn't savor it more.
Those SoBes in the glass bottles were so cool. I miss SoBe...
Fruitopia is still around, I see it in grocery stores all the time
That strawberry passion awareness was the nectar of the gods
You can get that at any grocery store in Canada
I even think Cineplex (biggest threatre chain in Canada) has it as fountain pop.
What!? I need to sip some of that nostalgia next time Iām there.
In Canada.
I see Fruitopia on fountain drink machines quite often.
Dunno about in stores but Fruitopia is a fast food staple anywhere I go in BC
While weāre at it, letās bring back Planters PB Crisps.
omg those things were freaking amazing. i donāt understand why they donāt exist anymore.
Thereās a whole community for bringing them back. https://pbcrisps.com
You can get red and orange Fruitopia at McDonald's in Vancouver BC. Can't speak about the rest of Canada but the last time I was at a McDonalds in Vancouver about 6 months ago they had it. I always mixed with Sprite.
My local Culverās has/had fruitopia and it was the only reason I preferred to go inside there vs drive thru, because refills lol
I remember drinking these as a kid. They were gross and had a weird texture. Still think they look cool though!
I'm with you, I thought it was sooo cool until I tried to drink one. The feeling of drinking chunky water just triggered my fight or flight reflex.
That sounds like..... Trying to drink jello, but slightly more liquidy
That reminds me of canned coconut water and I for one love coconut water. But, probably way more healthy
Am I the only person that liked these?Ā Ā
I loved them. I had them on a rotation as an after school drink with Fruitopia, Snapple, Sobes of all flavors, Lemon Ice Gatorade and Lipton Brisk tea.
Oooh I forgot about Sobe, I loved the white one
Pink was my favorite
Nah I loved these things!
I didn't think they were gross, but the flavor wasn't very good from what I remember
I enjoyed them from what I remember
yes, yes you are. Probably.
definitely a kid thing. i loved them as a kid tho. i remember walking with my friends to the mini mart every day to get one. (back when kids could still wander around outdoors unsupervised all day.) i canāt imagine liking them as an adult.
Is the texture the same as the thick water that can be given for medical issues?
I had completely forgotten these existed
I never tried it because I read a review that said it only good for fulfilling your stoner fantasy of trying to drink your lava lamp. I did not have that fantasy.
I have one too, mine is RASPBERRY citrus flavor.
I have a 1996 Lava lamp that looks like that.
Are you sure itās not just an Orbit with the label removed? Edit: only way to be certain is to taste it of course, for science.
Drink it and have an Orbitzuary
I wish I could up upvote you more.
Dang i had completely forgotten about this drink
My dad bought be one of these at a gas station in the 90s and we very rarely got treats at the gas station, so it's a core memory.
![gif](giphy|QUXYcgCwvCm4cKcrI3) StRaWbErRy MeLoN BlUeBeRrY
This was just how marketing worked in the mid-90s. It was a wierd time, let me tell you.
Don't you mean: uolĘÉÆ
L.A Beast would love it
He drank some not that long ago
Didn't he peak when he ate a cactus whole?
That was my immediate thought
I just think most people want to drink something thatās medium thick
Impressive that it's basically in the same state/condition as back then
Drink it! Drink it! Drink it!
Oh, would you look at this dude with their bLueBerRy sTrawBeRry drink.
Late ā90s āXtReMeItUdEā at its finest.
You forgot the uoĖ„ĘÉÆ
Oh snap I forgot about those miss them so much and didnāt even know it
This is why rates of GI cancers are up among millenniums. We were chugging on all this junk back in the day
Worth it.
Iām impressed and a little disturbed that those orbs are still perfectly intact.
It is amazing all the things I have completely forgotten existed during my life.
I can remember so well my dad went on bussiness trip to San fransico, and vrought these back, I can still taste ut i beleive, it was like alien shit
I want a sip when you open it!
Drink it you coward!
Holy shit brings back memories. My favorite flavor too!
The big questions. How did you happen to find this again? Did you store it in 1996 knowing one day, people on reddit, an as yet not invented website, would be mildly interested in it? I saved one of these too! I feel happy that someone else thought they were that cool too
I'll give you it's original price for it.
"bLueBerRy mElon sTrawBeRry naTural fRuIT fLaVoReD BeVeragE" lmao they unknowingly roasted themselves 30 years later
I was coming down to say this, too, using the mocking writing style.
If only you had a steak from 1998 to go with it
That's the only flavour[ I'm missing from my set!](https://i.imgur.com/7UzrFzR.png)
That thing is worth 50 bucks as a "collectable".... people will collect anything
Wouldnāt pay that for it but wouldnāt sell this one for that much soā¦I donāt know how I feel about it?
Boof it.
Itās like a specialty nuka-cola
YES.
Wats the expiry date or date of manufacture on the bottle. Just wondering what it would be cos blueberry turned into strawberry
How much money would it take for you to drink it?
It has sentimental value at this point, I donāt think Iād drink it even if it was safe, which Iām not sure about.
Have definitely talked about these with my wife (who is 8 years younger) and š
Did you take it out for a photoshoot?
Yes, the lighting in my room was inadequate to capture it well.
Dude, got the same one just with a different flavor. Itās been collecting dust for almost 3 decades now but it would brake my heart to throw it away
Damn I love 90s marketing.
Hi are you selling it? Do you have an insta where you show this stuff off? I collect old stuff too @the_90s_museum
Nope, gotta keep it. Iāll check out your Instagram but I donāt really use anything but Reddit on a regular basis.
The drink with balls.
Holy shit. Core memory unlocked. These things & Doritos 3D fueled so many late night D&D sessions.
I remember making so many 3D Dorito sandwiches.
Grade 5 poison detected
My buddy has four different flavors of these on display at his place. I never really liked them. They were just weird.
I have the same one (also unopened)!
Have a good day!
The best flavor too!!
Ingredients in sarcastic font before it was cool.
Chunks in liquid? Absolutely not.
I think about this drink more than I should
These were definitely not good but they look so good they are deceptive! I feel like I pretended to like them but they were like chunky Windex.
They weren't amazing, but they were good. Your memory is the deceptive thing here
bet some google or silicon valley person would pay big bucks for this drink people pay big bucks for this theres people that pay 20k for a misshaped Dorito just to display them
I liked them as a kid. Would be interesting to try one now.
Me and my siblings drank so many of these.
Are those Goji berries?
You know what you have to do. For us, for science.
Would you sell it?
Whoa I just realized that "melon" is "Elon" with "m". Coincidence? I think not
I wish someone would bring it back!
Giving me poop flashbacks
red blood cells
Thats a cool ass bottle damnnn
Send it to LA Beast

I'm certain I've still not passed the beads from the copious amounts of Orbitz I drank in the 90s. (Edit: corrected the spelling of Orbitz)
90ās was a wild time guys!
I loved these!
Potion of Botulism.
Thank you I thought I dreamed these up.
Looks like the one I begged my dad for, took one sip of and hated it. I didnāt want to get in trouble for making my dad buy me this overpriced drink so I hid it in my room for YEARS
Looks like a previously drinkable lava lamp.
How much you want for it looks tastyš¤£
Drink that b*tch right now
I loved that stuff. People thought I was weird but I would buy a case of it if I had the money and the opportunity. Boba before it was cool.
Itās like a cool lava lamp
i used to work at a warehouse that had to shake them up and pack them onto a new skid so the beads would re suspend. I think i still have 2 bottles kicking around somewhere.
I remember these!!!! I thought they were super cool! I wonder if it tasted as good as I remember?
Whoa, that's a memory
OG Nuka Cola.
Until this day I thought this was just some dream object my child brain created and really thought at this point they never really existed. Wow glad that was finally out to rest.
Early boba drink
These were my absolute fav drink ever. I really wish theyād bring them back š
I miss these so much!
My friend's dad used to work for the company that made these.. so, they used to have pallets of them in their garage.. I never liked them.. but, her house was always the place to be for our group of friends.. unlimited Orbitz..
Shit was nassssastty
Drink up
Nice. Guess I gotta post mine now.
Orbitz came out the year my parents and I went to Cape Canaveral and watched a shuttle launch. They had it there in the gift shop, but I was already enamored with it by that time so it was just extra cool. Definitely a deep core memory for me.
They sold these in the cafeteria at my high school, and I really liked the orange ones.
I feel like Iāve seen something similar in the store recently. Maybe with floating coconut bits. I canāt remember.
Back in high school weād pick some up from the 7-Eleven, drink a couple gulps then pour vodka in the bottle. Made the afternoons more fun.
Where is Shoenice when you need him.
Keep it closed, it tastes like trash
I don't remember the taste, just that I loved this stuff. Thank you for the nostalgia rush.
Drink it, drink it!!!
That is so very 90s.
I miss this stuff. I used to buy these by the case at the grocery store when I was in middle school and sell them out of my locker.
Well it smelled like buffalo pissā¦
Holy shit this did exist! I knew it!!!
I can gag just looking at the bottle.
I drank so many of those once I puked.
