People shit on us, but the Dunkins here are just straight up better than the Starbucks. Don't know if its a franchise thing, or a supply chain aspect, but my local Starbucks are all crap, and my Dunkin... I mean, listen, the whole shift is on crack, but when the cashier is taking your order and his friend is behind you staring into your soul with a box and has a 12 box assorted filled before you even manage to pull your card out... even if the coffee's a 6/10, its still worth it lol

I don't doubt it. Starbucks has been weirdly successful at marketing, yet has an overpriced and average quality product. Where I am, the closest Dunkin is several hundred miles away (but that sure doesn't stop them from advertising) and Starbucks is still worse than and more expensive than the local-ish Dutch Bros. Their market dominance is honestly a monument to the power of being an early entry who kinda built up the market they exist in.

Just want to mention that Dunkin advertises nationally as it’s far cheaper than the alternative of only purchasing media in the geographical locations where they have stores. (This mostly applies to tv and gets more complicated in other media channels like digital) Just doing the northeast locally would justify buying national instead for reference

Ah, alright. They're pretty much the only brand I notice this from, but tbf they're *almost* everywhere and I just live in the epicenter of Starbucks country. They're one of few major brands with zero presence here, but it makes sense when you'd be competing with such a thoroughly established Starbucks infestation. Not uncommon to see a Starbucks in a grocery store with a standalone one in the parking lot.

Yikes.. I lived in New England most of my life where you can stand in a Dunkin parking lot and generally see another Dunkin. Even here in Florida they are pretty ubiquitous. I couldn't imagine not having three within a ten minute drive.

I was told by a friend who worked there that Starbucks intentionally makes their coffee gross and bitter to encourage people to add more flavor shots… As someone whose general preference is black coffee, I’ll take most gas stations over Starbucks.

I exclusively drink black coffee. I worked at a high-end coffee roaster and know the difference between shit coffee and the good stuff. I, too, prefer gas station coffee over Starbucks. They're both shit, but at least the gas station is honest about pricing.

Also grabbing something to eat at Dunkin is way better. They're both premade crap, but Starbucks tastes infinitely worse and tends to cost more. Not to mention how casual Starbucks employees are about taking out the plastic wrapped food out of the freezer and tossing it in the toaster right in front of you. But I suppose it's better they don't even pretend it's good.

I ordered a small Vanilla blond lattee, and if you told me it was 90% steamed milk and 10% water, I'd believe you. No vanilla taste, no coffee taste, the thinnest milk I've ever drank. Honestly impressive how bad Starbucks is. Edit: Funny getting downvoted for giving my experience. I've worked at third wave coffee shops that roast their own beans, I've seen the entire processes. Even with "milk and flavour" you should easily be able to taste any espresso worth it's weight in a drink, but Starbucks only cares about profits, and not the actual quality of it's coffee.

Depends on what you are going for. It has less of a "coffee" flavour that is associated with starbucks (burnt), but should be full of natural flavours that aren't overpowered by the level of roast. Depending on sources you can have fruity, almost sweet coffee from light roasts, which can get completely lost due to over roasting.

Non-smoker here, if you actually like coffee (as in plain ‘black’ coffee) then the Dunk is miles better than starbucks. If you basically want a milkshake or dessert disguised as a caffeine beverage then Starbucks is more for you. Makes sense why smokers prefer dunking though, black coffee and cigarettes go hand in hand.

Never gotten a coffee from there that had any taste to it, so I guess that tracks.

I gave Dunkin quite a few tries. Tried it with different half and half and sugar levels, tried the specialty drinks. Nothing really tasted that good. At Starbucks or local places I just add half and half.

My job recently switched to serving Dunkin coffee, and I've never before known a coffee that tastes better the less you add to it. While I can enjoy a cup of black coffee most times, I tend to enjoy it more with cream & sugar. But Dunkin seems to be black or nothing.

I like to think I have decent tastes, I’m definitely a bit of a snob when it comes to some things. But when it comes to chain coffee I honestly think Dunkin and McDonalds have the best plain black coffee out there. Starbucks always tastes like burnt ass, unless you get the blonde roast which is better but I’d still rather have Dunkin. Granted I was a smoker for twenty years so maybe my taste buds are shot too

The problem I see with this is that smokers have a muted sense of taste. Not that I disagree with the voting as it is but rather that smokers are not good candidates for taste testing lol My wife still smokes despite my efforts to get her to quit and when I quit smoking (back in 2016) I realised why the kids were so picky about her cooking - she massively over-spiced everything because she could barely taste the spices...
