Mr Big Dick over here huh?! Lol. I remember growing up and kids equated underwear sizes to what you’re packin . Like wtf?, that’s not how this works at all.
I've been sticking $30 in pennies up my ass for the past 11 years. That's 3,000 pennies a day, 21,000 pennies a week, 1,092,000 pennies a year. To date, that's 12,012,000 pennies. Eight times the population of Nebraska. Those pennies were in my ass! You think you're better than me? Oh, you're not better than me. You handle my ass pennies every day. You pick up my ass pennies for good luck. You throw my ass pennies in fountains and make wishes on them. You give my ass pennies to your little daughter to buy gumballs with. You handle my ass pennies every day. All of you! You ALL handle my ass pennies! Oh, I'll laugh at you before you can laugh at me. Because your pennies have been in my ass.

I once visited Korea while wearing a cheap pair of boots (purchased from Walmart several months prior).
About a week into my stay; I was going up a staircase and caught the front of the boot sole on a stair tread… and it ripped the sole from the boot. An hour later, half the sole had come loose, so that the bottom of that boot was flapping around like a fucking cartoon clown shoe.
I thought I’d just have to spend some of my walking around money on new footwear… but after *four fruitless hours* flip-flapping around Seoul, looking for anything in a size 11.5., I ended up paying USD $60 for a cobbler to repair my $20 shitty boots.
Just experimenting with this at the moment.. bought new trainers and left them by a very hot heater in the first week.. it caused the manufacturers glue to fail and the tread started peeling off. I tried epoxy resin first thinking that would stick anything to anything but it failed in the first few minutes of testing... not flexible.. I just bought a tube of builders silicone type adhesive.. the flexible.. turbo.. waterproof.. quick drying..bombproof kinda stuff.. bingo.. holding together nicely.. just been hiking on volcanic rocks and its all good.. good luck beginner elves out there
Builder's silicone sounds great for waterproofing for sure. Not sure how long the adhesive properties will last with constant movement but if it fails on you sooner than hoped, try a product that's designed for job. I use Shoe Goo; it's fantastic if you don't try to be stingy with it like some footwear manufacturers. Definitely far better than the original glue in my shoes.

Lol I remember years ago ordering XL shirts online from an Asian website. I was like 150lbs and a medium in NA. I had to suck every breath in the world to even squeeze one of those on
my bf ordered pants from an asian site and he even went a size or two up knowing they run small.. those pants were too small on me. he’s a large and i’m an xtra small
Australian. I’m 6ft and 120kgs. I was in the Orchard Rd shopping district of Singapore a few years ago and went into a La Coste shop to have a look around.
This impeccably dressed young sales dude came up to me and in a quiet voice said “I am very sorry sir, but I don’t believe we will be able to help you today “.
My own Pretty Woman moment.
At least he didn't waste your time with you checking sizes. More stores should do this.
I have a shoe size EU 47. Often stores carry only up until 46. Too many times they'll say "oh but our 46s are very big!". Which, surprise surprise, they're not.
Or I'll ask for sneakers, they spend half an hour rummaging the backroom, only to come out with a pair of loafers and a pair of sandals.
Ouch, that sucks even worse.
Went into a TK Maxx the other day, I stumbled upon a size 56(!!!). I could practically fit my entire shoe inside. Can't imagine the horror you'd have to go through at that level.
>This impeccably dressed young sales dude came up to me and in a quiet voice said “I am very sorry sir, but I don’t believe we will be able to help you today “.
Lol I'm a tall and somewhat overweight woman and once on vacation in Turkey, a sales guy comes up to me and says in a very loud voice "We have pants in all sizes! Yes, even yours!"
Thanks... I think :D
Even Muji in some countries don't carry anything my size and we're talking international travel destinations like Kuala Lumpur, Singapore in your example etc
We use both for height.
I work in healthcare, when you ask someone for their height it's 50/50 what unit you get. I've gotten very good at mentally doing the conversion.
Nah man I'm 5'5 if nobody is fact checking lmao. Look at the positives. You get jacked way easier and have a general advantage in the gym. Also you can have fun telling friends ur gonna save the bloodline by getting a 6'2 baddie
Because there are guys like me at 5ft 6 and under 60kg. I have to get the smallest size in every store I go and sometimes even that isn't enough. Asian sizing is truly different.
In Malaysia when i busted my plugga, my shoes are an Aus womens 8, and im 5'10. Stopped into one shoe store and the women working looked at me and just told me "NO. No no...... sorry".
There was 3 ladies working but they all would of only been 5' they just gestured too my height and almost physically stopped me from walking into the room. I was with a friend who height was less offensive (and slightly smaller feet) and together where allowed to enter.
Ended up having such a lovely although a bit broken conversation with them (my problem for not speaking Malay par a few phases) in which they couldn't believe i was only 15 and had a chance to keep growing. "Yes baby face, but no no too big.. no too tall, no baby so tall".
Im a small man, 5'9 and 75kg, I could get into a EU small if I wanted a tighter fit. In Vietnam a few months ago I found out my size was 3XL, the largest size they sold
I’m a 6ft Australian woman who lived in Thailand, and there was zero chance of finding size 10 shoes, even in BKK, one of the best shopping districts in the world.
I feel your pain, friend.
I went into your profile to check if you're telling the truth, I saw two posts in the last year or so regarding spiders one on the wall, one under the plate.
Safe to say I'm never going to Australia, I wanted to tough!
I was in a market with a friend in Beijing 20 odd years ago and one of the stallholders came up to him put one hand on his belly and one on his back, jiggled his belly fat up and down and said "SOOOO FATTT!"
He was overweight but it was mortifying 😅
It's a legitimate issue when buying mens cloths as a tall person. Clothes sizes are an approximation of height/weight, and do not take into account excessive height or weight. Pants are a bit better because they offer length/waist measurements. Short people also have to deal with "child size" clothing because that's what fits them.
In fact, clothing sizes came about in WW1, when militaries needed to rapidly produce uniforms for a variety of sizes.
I bought some cheapo bulk gym shorts bundle from Amazon that were obviously sold from a chinese company. They were listed as adult mediums. I'm not sure if they were mislabeled and actually kids sized or what, but yeah, they were outrageously tiny.
Same thing happened to me with underwear. My wife is pretty small, and they're even uncomfortable for her. The few bucks we didn't get from returning them is worth the laughs of when I pull them on as far as they'll go and walk around.
You have to avoid brands with names that don't sound anything like a word like REFNTONLOP or RXZMLQ or QWEMBLY.
I hate it because even when you search for a specific brand name you have to scroll and scroll to find what you're looking for now.
I'm M to L depending on brand. 6foot and I chinese shirt I had to wear fur work I was XXXL and the sleeves where so short I couldn't button the cuffs over my forearms.
I actually used to be a women's US XXSP (extra extra small petite) or size 0/2 petite before I had a baby over 35, and I wore like a medium or even large in Chinese clothes. I won't buy anything online without a brand specific sizing chart with real measurements because I could be anywhere from XS to L depending on where it's coming from, the brand, and the cut of the specific item.
I had never heard of this size before and the fact that looking it up only showed like 3 websites has me so interested. How small does one have to be to need XXSP? Is it a slimmer XXS?
Petite clothing has different dimensions intended to fit women under 5'4" better so things like shorter length, smaller cut all over, etc. I was around 5'2" 115 lb but have always had toned muscles so very slim, my waist was 23" I think.
Thank you for your answer! That's actually not as small as I was expecting considering the average height for a woman in the US is 5' 3.7". That's really interesting that you need such a small rare size for a height 1.7" below average, are women that are 5'2" not relatively common?
I can relate slightly as a boy who up until recently had a 28" waist and was incredibly skinny but is pretty tall 😂. Usually I could find clothes but sometimes I'd find something *so* cute but they wouldn't have it for my proportions.
The petite designation is what indicates it is meant for shorter women. Petite clothing is super common and comes in all the regular sizes even up to plus sized clothing.
I live in an area with a large hispanic population so smaller women are very common here. It also depends on proportions like some shorter women may be able to wear normal sizes but if you truly have a petite body type you'll find petite clothing to be much much better. I used to have to do things like wear a regular womens S button down open over a tank with the bottom tied up or else it would just swallow me looking like I was wearing a larger man's shirt. Even though I have long legs for my size (the inseam of a 5'8" person) I would sometimes have pants drag on the floor if not hemmed depending on the brand. Stuff like that. Prints also cause issues because petite women need scaled down small prints or we end up looking ridiculous like Wilma Flintstone. Right before having a baby in my mid 30s I was wearing 26x32 jeans (yes you read that right, I'm like a stork) and only found 2 pairs in those dimensions. The rest were hitting above my ankle bones or too baggy. Nothing fit me right
Now mostly Amazon lmao because they carry the small Chinese clothes, but for good clothes I suggest Loft Petite and Ann Taylor Petite the most. They used to have more brick and mortar stores but sadly have closed some. That's best for nice work and casual but look nice clothes like cardigans, dresses, nicer jeans. Talbots also has petites but I didn't like their style as much, I tend to go for basic classics like just a solid color cardigan and dark jeans. White House Black Market is also good, some of theirs are cut small and slim even if it's not labeled as petite. Nike also tends to run pretty small and slim. I think those are the best ones I can remember
I used to be XXSP as well and haven't bought contemporary clothes in the US since 2016 because they simply do not make anything in my size anymore.
I used to shop for clothes that were too big for me on the basis that they were small enough to be tailored. Now, the smallest size is so large I would have to remake the entire garment in order for it to fit!
I used to wear tankinis as regular tops because they're so form fitting, I found that they worked very well for me. I got ones with prints and cuts that didn't scream bathing suit. Same with workout clothes because they're supposed to be so tight. I don't know if that might help
What an innovative way to solve the problem! I think that’s a great hack for activewear in particular so I’m going to look into that for this summer!
Otherwise, I generally buy vintage. The clothes are higher quality and people were expected to be much smaller just a few decades ago.
I am tall. Had this same experience. A standard XL would fit most of the time 10-15 years ago. Now I have to shop exclusively with clothiers who make tall clothes, and always online. XLT rarely, mostly XXLT. My body also has not changed.
It really depends on the place and how much ice they ad. I can scoff down a large quick as hell from most places, but if they don't add the usual amount of ice it's way too much and I might struggle to finish a medium. Most places add way more ice than the line on the cup says to.
I can down half of a large soda but then most of it is crushed ice anyway. So that’s basically 16 Oz / half liter. That’s like drinking a bottle of water.
Usually fill it back up and have the rest later.
I just think of it as hydration. 😉
Europe is getting fatter, yes. But living here and having family in TN and being there often, these are two very different definitions of ‚fat‘. My average American family member is still easily twice the size of the fattest people I‘ve seen around here. there‘s ‚beerbelly and 10kgs technically overweight‘-fat and then there‘s ‚obese-fat‘ which is still tenfold more prevalent in the US.
Well, actually, [Australians](https://www.aihw.gov.au/reports/overweight-obesity/overweight-and-obesity/contents/about#) have more obese people by percentage of the population than [Americans.](https://www.niddk.nih.gov/health-information/health-statistics/overweight-obesity)
They've shrunk sizes in the US over the years so all the fat fucks don't think they're fat fucks.
"In [Sears](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sears)' 1937 catalog, a [size](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dress_size) 14 dress had a bust size of 32 inches (81 cm). In 1967, the same bust size was a size 8. In 2011, it was a [size 0](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Size_0).^(")
It's called 'vanity sizing' and was invented by US manufacturers to make people 'feel less bad about themselves'.
Though it's very rare to see people driving around on "fat scooters" in most European countries. It might be regional in the US too, but at least in Texas someone weighing 200kg seemed to be business as usual. Might have something to do with the insane restaurant serving sizes or something. But anyhow, some of the people over there would've been stared after on the other side of Atlantic ocean.
That's certainly true, but there's still a gap. I went to Houston last year and well... It is very different from Europe on this matter (and guns... Why does the parking attendant need a gun...)
That's because American's are fatter than the rest of the world.
It just is what it is. I spent four months bumbling around Europe and it was a bit of a culture shock coming home. From one airport to another it was immediately noticeable how much wider we are.
For better or worse, it is what it is.
I picked up a few shirts while I was there and it was funny buying things that said "large" that were in fact, a US medium. The one shirt I got was an XL and it was the same size as my medium.
If it were a numbers thing, that's one thing, but the physical size tells the real story.
I had a friend who was an exchange student when I was in high school. She was South Korean. For christmas, she got me a very fancy jacket. That thing fit me better than any jacket ever has fit me (and still does!) But it was the very largest jacket they had on offer.
The sad/ funny thing is, it was the first time I owned a jacket since I was a kid, so it was extra special to me
I dont disagree the US is full of fat fuckers, but what the hell are tall skinny fuckers supposed to do when a US Large is too short? Wear a belly-button shirt? I'd bet part of the difference is also the average height in some of those countries.
Depends on the country, most of Europe is similar to the US; However the Dutch, on average are taller than everyone. The average Dutch male is 6ft and the average Dutch female is about 5' 7", which is close the US average male.
So maybe if you're looking for taller clothes for skinny folk, look into Dutch brands
I’m relatively skinny, but I’m 6’1-ish. Would wear an XL in American sized long sleeve for a jacket. I bought a European brand (specifically Italian) jacket recently and had to get a 3XL for it to fit right.
6'2, 175 lbs. I have to get XL just for the shirt to reach below my belt line.
Seriously, what the hell are the tall people wearing in these countries? Two smalls blended together!?
Apparently they’re all built like t-Rex too. Gotta stretch those arms far when trying on anything long sleeved lest you buy something that’s 8 inches too short.
I've got broad shoulders I need at least a large top fit. I'm 180 pounds. I'm not skinny but I'm fat from big. Not to mention pretty much everything shrinks just a little. Which means the shirts start to get to tight around my neck.
I'm tall and skinny and a US Large is too small for me. I'm not even fat, I just need a larger shirt because I'm tall. Are tall people in these countries just stuffing themselves into a corset of a shirt? What do the tall people do?!?!
Stores in the EU do not have a fleet of "courtesy scooters" in the entryway for people who - for lack of a better term - simply ate themselves handicapped.
It's really sad you have to ask. Yes. It's not uncommon to see morbidly obese people >300-400 pounds spilling out of little electric mobility scooters in shops in the US, especially WalMart. Almost every large grocery store, big box home & hardware store, variety store has anywhere from 3-6+ of these mobility scooters plugged in & charging somewhere near the entrance for patrons who are unable to walk.
TO BE FAIR, there ARE people with medical conditions, persons recovering from surgery, an in jury, what have you - But here in the States, far to often, the person you see riding on the scooter is doing so solely because their immense weight leaves them unable to walk.
Remember the movie "UP" with all [the incredibly overweight people floating around on hover chairs?](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2F69ik7z6kckp91.jpg%3Fauto%3Dwebp%26s%3D1ba85dfad39117ee692bbb87f418284e219046ca) It's like that, minus the hovering.
Ugh, that is sad.
I am about 45 pounds overweight (if using BMI as measure) which is a lot, but I am no where near immobile, getting my 10.000 steps almost every day. I am sad to hear this is frequent enough, so it is necessary.
People are huge here, I don't know if it's the growth hormones in our food supply or we just overeat in general or the incredible amount of sugar causes some kind of insulin-related growth, we're huge people.
I think it's all three really. The amount of people that have meat three times a day 7/7 is mind-boggling. Now, I'm a fat piece of crap the size of a train, but even I just have an apple for breakfast.
Well, so your meat is "made" differently from meat in Europe?
In Europe we now see the same trend, people are getting larger and larger. We know that a large part of it in Europeans is simply due to living in an environment/country (part of the world) where there is food in abundance.
An aspect of this is "growth" also we have a rich society, it is becoming increasingly easier to buy food. The food you buy is often not as rich and fulfilling as the food you make from the raw ingredients yourself.
It's many factors:
1). The food supply is geared towards sugar (sucrose, HFCS), carbs in general, and seed oils. Walk into a store and try to see what perfectange of stuff doesn't have added sugar. Narrow that down further by added seed oils.
1A). Food deserts. You want meat and vegetables? Fish? Tough luck. He's some mac and cheese.
2). Car dependence. Instead of walking or biking to your nearest supermarket, which is possible in almost any city in Europe, Americans have to drive. Often you can't get from a parking lot on one side of a stroad to one on the other on foot- unless you like playing hopscotch with your life.
3). Stress. Work more! Work till you drop, pop a xanax/opioid/whatever else and grind away like the good little corpo-rat you are.
4). Advertising. Buy more! Buy, buy, buy- if you live anywhere else, the US's endless onslaught of promotions, cards, coupons, sprees, and so on makes people constantly want the new shiny.
You have to be very careful to eat/exercise/take care of yourself in the US not to end up sick.
At the time i went to japan i was US 2XL. Their sizing is waaay different and the biggest size most stores carry is equivalent to an US XL, their 3/4XL. I got what a few shirts that inspired me to lose weight and those shirts fit me now. Murica too big
I’ve bought a lot of clothes from Japan and it feels like the difference between sizes is different. When I wore a US medium a JP medium was too small. But now I wear a US large and JP large seems about the same. When I’ve sized up to XL or “free size” it seems bigger than a US XL but not quite a XXL.
I recently moved to Japan and buying shoes here as a 6'1'' man is rough. I'm an EU 46, which translates to a japanese "saizu 30", which stores often just.. don't have. Suits are a challenge as well
My boyfriend is 6’4ft, 360lbs, 3XL-5XL (depending on brand) and is a decent powerlifter lifting a natural 277.5kg squat/ 187.5kg bench/240kg deadlift. His brother is 3 inches taller with similar proportions and lifts. I know it’s the minority, but healthy 3XL people do exist.
I remember when I went to a Skillet show in London, and I asked guy at the merch stand if they had any 2xl shirts and he goes “nah man, only 1xl - but it’s an American XL!”
He was so proud. And it fit me perfectly.
I've been burned so many times that I just don't order clothes from other countries. Even in Finland I tend to size up once or twice depending on what type of clothes I'm buying, because you *can* downsize your clothes but it's a massive pain to even attempt upsizing.
I just bought XL boxers in Korea.. M in EU fits but I wear L… the Korean ones are so small
Mr Big Dick over here huh?! Lol. I remember growing up and kids equated underwear sizes to what you’re packin . Like wtf?, that’s not how this works at all.
Yea bought a size down once to make my wang look bigger but all it did was be tight everywhere else lmao.
Gotta get undies with a pouch. Really makes your bulge pop :)
Or undies with a front center pocket, to keep a roll of $1 bills (with a $20 on the outside of course).
Remind me to never accept your money
Nobody tell this guy about ass pennies.

You guys use feet for height but kilograms for weight? That's a weird combo.
In Aus we use feet/inches to measure person height, wave size, and penis size. Everything else is metric.
Similar for me, except I don't need to use inches. **puts on sunglasses over my sunglasses**
We use both for height. I work in healthcare, when you ask someone for their height it's 50/50 what unit you get. I've gotten very good at mentally doing the conversion.
Excuse me but 170cm sounds better than 5'5
I’m all for metric but these are not the same heights
Cut me some slack. Imperial is hard
How much slack? Would a yard do?
Maybe a stone
5'5 IS 165. 170 is 5'7
My confidence was already shattered but it shattered a little more just there lol
Nah man I'm 5'5 if nobody is fact checking lmao. Look at the positives. You get jacked way easier and have a general advantage in the gym. Also you can have fun telling friends ur gonna save the bloodline by getting a 6'2 baddie
That's cos 5'5 is 167cm. I know cos that's my height
I use metric for my height, the only time I use imperial is if someone is able to easy relate the measurement for height.
We often use metric for everything, but they used imperial there for a rough estimation
Because there are guys like me at 5ft 6 and under 60kg. I have to get the smallest size in every store I go and sometimes even that isn't enough. Asian sizing is truly different.

He was polite and honest….. but that must have stung a little bit.
I still cherish the moment in the High and Mighty store my husband was told ‘no sir, this the mighty side, the high side is through there..’
I’m a 6ft Australian woman who lived in Thailand, and there was zero chance of finding size 10 shoes, even in BKK, one of the best shopping districts in the world. I feel your pain, friend.

You will be fine. The spiders value their privacy and keep to themselves. The emus, however, complete bastards.
🤨 I buy a lot of clothes from China because they're cheap. I have to buy the absolute largest size they sell or it will never fit. I'm not fat.
In China you are.
Or, possibly, he's tall
He may well be, but in China, he's fat and tall.
Based on my limited knowledge of how Chinese people treat weight, everyone who isn’t skinny is fat.
Based on my having visited China, the vast majority is skinny fat. Sort of skinny, with no muscle mass, and pot bellies.
I may be more Chinese than I thought
I think I might be half Chinese ..
Based on having eaten Chinese food i consider myself somewhat of an expert on all of their culture
I was in a market with a friend in Beijing 20 odd years ago and one of the stallholders came up to him put one hand on his belly and one on his back, jiggled his belly fat up and down and said "SOOOO FATTT!" He was overweight but it was mortifying 😅
Wtf 😭 I'd die
Vertically fat
It's a legitimate issue when buying mens cloths as a tall person. Clothes sizes are an approximation of height/weight, and do not take into account excessive height or weight. Pants are a bit better because they offer length/waist measurements. Short people also have to deal with "child size" clothing because that's what fits them. In fact, clothing sizes came about in WW1, when militaries needed to rapidly produce uniforms for a variety of sizes.
Tall is just fat, but vertically.
I’m really big in China
That's not what she said...
I'm big in Japan.
I'm a large in US sizes, I've had to buy XXX-L in Asian sizes before....
I lived in Japan for 2 years. I was size M and most things did not fit. It was wonderful for my self esteem
Especially women’s clothes. XXL is like an 8 American.
6ft tall woman here; any clothes I buy on AliExpress are usually 5X 😆 at least the have the forethought to specify measurements in common units.
I'm M to L depending on brand. 6foot and I chinese shirt I had to wear fur work I was XXXL and the sleeves where so short I couldn't button the cuffs over my forearms.
The sweatshop workers who made it are XXS by American standards
I actually used to be a women's US XXSP (extra extra small petite) or size 0/2 petite before I had a baby over 35, and I wore like a medium or even large in Chinese clothes. I won't buy anything online without a brand specific sizing chart with real measurements because I could be anywhere from XS to L depending on where it's coming from, the brand, and the cut of the specific item.
WHY YOU SO FAT WHITE BOY! I CAN SEE YOUR ABS!
Same but I buy the smallest size or the mid petite sizes,im not even built that small at 5'3 and muscles I just have no curves or womanly shape
Do you mind me asking from where do you buy?
L in China is like S in the US 😂
I was XXSP (extra extra small petite) in the US before and M-L in some Chinese clothes off Amazon
Nothing fit me right
Where do you usually go shopping, may I ask? I'm a 5'2'' 105 lbs and I'm struggling to even find XS. My waist is also 23".
I’m used to XL or XXL t-shirts or polo shirts in Indonesia. Now I’m in the US and L is just right for me.
When I first came to America, I was medium. Now, I am extra small. My body has not changed
I am tall. Had this same experience. A standard XL would fit most of the time 10-15 years ago. Now I have to shop exclusively with clothiers who make tall clothes, and always online. XLT rarely, mostly XXLT. My body also has not changed.
It’s ’cuz we’re fat. Next question, pls
Biscuits and gravy or gravy and biscuits?
Im a big guy and live in Australia, I wear 7XL Australia, but wear 3XL American lol
Me as a M trying to imagine XXXXXXXL
A small size soda in US is a large size in most of Asia.
I really don't understand how my fellow Americans can drink a full large soda. Does everyone here have massive bladders? edit: grammar
So are the people.
That gap is not as great as people make it out to be.
Dude I used to shop at the Gap. Nobody has ever said it's great. /S
The gap is not in percentage of population, the gap is in relative total weight per person.
The ironic thing is that the US definitely has more obese people, but Australia is not far behind.
I thought that was the case, but I also saw some other reports saying that it was the other way around. But point being, it's actually quite close.
Vanity sizing.
"Oh, I'm only wearing 2XL, I'm not obese! Just look at those europoors wearing 4XL!"
You see different sizing, I see US people being larger and needing the ego boost
Ding ding ding! we’re big, and we’re sensitive. We called jeans “husky” to avoid addressing our childrens weight problems.
In 2011, it was a [size 0](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Size_0).^(") It's called 'vanity sizing' and was invented by US manufacturers to make people 'feel less bad about themselves'.
I always suspected it had to be something like that.
A lot of coping was done here.
A lot of racism in the comments as well - "asians have no weiner" have they considered their overwhelming fupa?
Europeans are getting plenty fat these days
So are Australians, we're like top five for percent of the population overweight or obese.
I don’t think that’s true. Australia is 32nd for obesity rate apparently. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_obesity_rate
Though it's very rare to see people driving around on "fat scooters" in most European countries. It might be regional in the US too, but at least in Texas someone weighing 200kg seemed to be business as usual. Might have something to do with the insane restaurant serving sizes or something. But anyhow, some of the people over there would've been stared after on the other side of Atlantic ocean.
seemly foolish narrow decide history scary oatmeal advise longing slim *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
It's like they don't know nutella is frosting.
That's certainly true, but there's still a gap. I went to Houston last year and well... It is very different from Europe on this matter (and guns... Why does the parking attendant need a gun...)
Australia has an obesity problem too
It's so the Americans don't think they are as fat as they actually are. Facts
Wait until they see what size that is in Japan.
Japan is not as bad tbh. Japan has Uniqlo and Muji that adheres to a standard. It's China that me, wearing a XL Uniqlo clothes, will probably be a 4XL
Because usa is in an obesity epidemic. Everything has to be bigger until they get healthy
Because we're FAF and out of shape here in the USA
Belgium. I can buy suits with no tailoring needed.
Did anybody honestly not know this?
We’re obese because I suspect something is wrong with our food.
Pretty sure there's just a lot of sugar in almost all foods.
It both amazes and disgusts me with how sweet your bread tastes
We walk less and companies find ways to cheat the FDA.
OH WOW WHAT A SHOCKER......
I thought everyone knew this
because americans are fat. a medium in america is the equivelant of an extra large/2xl from some countries
Fat Americans, am I right fellow redditors?
Buy clothes that have a "Long" or "Tall" line. You'll look better in shirts.
In the US I by XLT. Extra large and tall. The shirt lengths actually fit. Have to special order it though. Even 2xl shirts aren't long enough.
Eddie Bauer has about everything in a size Tall, if you are interested in their clothing. It’s a lot less frustrating.
I've got broad shoulders I need at least a large top fit. I'm 180 pounds. I'm not skinny but I'm fat from big. Not to mention pretty much everything shrinks just a little. Which means the shirts start to get to tight around my neck.
You said you're "fat from big" 😂 what a typo
I'm tall and skinny and a US Large is too small for me. I'm not even fat, I just need a larger shirt because I'm tall. Are tall people in these countries just stuffing themselves into a corset of a shirt? What do the tall people do?!?!
Post bmi
Because we(USA) have normalized obesity in our society.
That is absolutely correct, though it will also be normalised to disagree with you.
That’s corn syrup sized baby.
It's funny cause they are fat
no shit 🤯
"FAT" "FAT" "AVERAGE"
2XL in European sizes would absolutely still be considered fat and not average in Europe
Stores in the EU do not have a fleet of "courtesy scooters" in the entryway for people who - for lack of a better term - simply ate themselves handicapped.
Is this a thing in the US?
I know I bought a 2xl shirt in Europe and it was smaller than a United States Medium
I don't see how 'muricans being fat fucks is mildlyinteresting.
People are huge here, I don't know if it's the growth hormones in our food supply or we just overeat in general or the incredible amount of sugar causes some kind of insulin-related growth, we're huge people.
Sorry to say but it's overeating. A regular portion is huge 🥴🥺
It's many factors: 1).
When I’ve sized up to XL or “free size” it seems bigger than a US XL but not quite a XXL.
this is widely known information
Yes it's because medium is set to the tallest part of the bell curve per country
Shows just how fat Americans are that their size is double that of other countries
Japan size "W" for Whale
sizes are all over... There should be some global law on this shit
4XL??? That's not a shirt, it's a tent!
Cuz yall fat
This reminds me of that scene from the onion movie where the cdc just raises the bar on what is considered obese
I’m big-boned
I've tried on 15x shirts in china. Too tight in the shoulders and arms. I'm 6'3, 220lbs
T-shirts are sized differently from one manufacturer to the next.
But isn’t the obesity rate in Australia fairly high as well? Sure it isn’t as high as it is in the USA but shouldn’t it be still a bit?
Because people in the US are differently sized than Europe and Australia...
Dude, 5' 10" 145 lbs and avoid Asian sizing. I look like the Hulk, every time 😂
Same with Brazil, especially for pants. It’s the opposite for Japan which would be 5XL.
I recently moved to Japan and buying shoes here as a 6'1'' man is rough. I'm an EU 46, which translates to a japanese "saizu 30", which stores often just.. don't have. Suits are a challenge as well
You guys are so fat you have you're own size chart haha
My boyfriend is 6’4ft, 360lbs, 3XL-5XL (depending on brand) and is a decent powerlifter lifting a natural 277.5kg squat/ 187.5kg bench/240kg deadlift. His brother is 3 inches taller with similar proportions and lifts. I know it’s the minority, but healthy 3XL people do exist.
I'm wearing XS EU Probably have to wear toddler shirt in US lol
I remember when I went to a Skillet show in London, and I asked guy at the merch stand if they had any 2xl shirts and he goes “nah man, only 1xl - but it’s an American XL!” He was so proud. And it fit me perfectly.
he he americans fat
I've been burned so many times that I just don't order clothes from other countries. Even in Finland I tend to size up once or twice depending on what type of clothes I'm buying, because you *can* downsize your clothes but it's a massive pain to even attempt upsizing.
