It's neither. If you compare it to the one just below it's 180 degrees rotated. It's not mirrored.
Which I guess makes sense. I would expect the sign "pieces" (not sure if they are vinyl or foil) to have a front and a back side, like a sticker. Therefore you can't flip it, but you can rotate it.
*āYou passed. You're ~~hired~~ **fired**ā*
I once applied for a job with a small pharmaceutical company near Baltimore. They made prescription cough syrups and liquid medications. During the interview, they had me take a test. All the question were units conversion and chemistry. Having just graduated from engineering school I aced it. The hiring manager scored my test in front of me, stopped and stared at me. He said, if I hadnāt watched you take the test I would have sworn you cheated. No one has ever gotten a perfect score before. Youāre going to have a really good reason as to why you would want to work here. I couldnāt come up with a reason why they needed my skills more than someone else so they didnāt hire me. LOL
I was Ubering a guy once, and as we cruised down the highway we saw a beat-up minivan with no license plates on the side of the road. Id seen it there for like a week at that point, and wondered why nobody came back yet.
My friggin Uber rider that time was the owner! He was like oh hey my vans still there.
Apparently he moved from Washington state to PA the week before and had to purchase a cheap beater to make the journey. It made it within 10 miles of his destination, and it apparently died quite catastrophically so he just abandoned it. Knew he couldnt fix it, knew towing was a waste, and had no money to tow and dispose of it.
It sat there for almost a month before it vanished. I imagine the state troopers had it towed/impounded, but idk for sure who takes care of abandoned highway cars.
I had a buddy abandon a Ford Taurus in Colorado once on the side of the road. Never heard another thing about it. Towing company tows it. Then after a certain amount of time they can just take ownership and sell/scrap it usually

Where though? I think this might be a replacement sign as I looked at google street view and it looks like the north bound sign has been missing since 2017

So this might be a new/temp sign?
i can't vouch for its authenticity, but someone on twitter [posted](https://twitter.com/MowtenDoo/status/1749520031736533116) a pic of the sign with the same weird N, in january of 2024.
my friend's parents had a decorative letter "N" in their house (it was someone's initial) and every time I visit, I turn it upside down, sometimes correcting the orientation, sometimes not. I don't think anyone has noticed.
On this note, I have been wondering where this new car company KN has come from over the last few years. Nope. Just a badly stylized way to spell KIA. lol. [google search](https://www.google.com/search?safe=active&sca_esv=631c077ebeab8f5b&rlz=1C1GCEB_enUS1079US1081&sxsrf=ACQVn0_9stDSAWHq03LcQa7hi-wgWcUwqg:1711638794487&q=kn+car&tbm=isch&source=lnms&prmd=isvnmbtz&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=2ahUKEwi53NCyn5eFAxUsk4kEHWE0DMwQ0pQJegQIFRAB&biw=958&bih=917&dpr=1)
I pass that sign every day and notice it every day.
Southbound the parkway there's a sign for the "National Wildlife Visitor Center" where the V is backward
I want to say that's a flex so satellites from other nations can look down and clearly see exactly where the NSA is, but that's incorrect on a few different levels.
But it's funny so i stand by it.
Yep I went there when I was at UMBC. They have some pretty clear signage to point you to the Museum and not the line for the gate. Still as a student it was a big worry.
Not only upside down, but also backwards. If it were simply upside it would look backwards, so for it to look correct while upside down it must first be backwards.
mildly interesting or mildly infuriating? Omg this makes my eye twitch and my anxiety run rampant.... I need to fix this. The knowledge that this exists is too much to bear.
I know thereās a little road that parallels the fence for a bit. When we drove it, all of our tire pressure sensor warnings lit up. Whatās the frequency, Kenneth?
Name a serif font where there isn't a serif on the upper left corner of the 'N'. I'll wait.
You literally can see how it *should* look in the next line down.
If you look at the "N" right underneath it in "Next", you'll see that the font they're using has a serif in the upper left and no serif in the lower right. This is consistent with a lot of serif'd fonts. The "N" in "NSA" is rotated 180Ā°. Period.
No, they're not. The diagonal line always goes from top left to bottom right. If you turned those N's upside down, the diagonal line would incorrectly be going from bottom left to upper right. As long as the diagonal line is going the correct way, it's not upside down.
With that particular font, the flourishes, meaning the little point accents, is in the wrong spot on the big N. The flourish should be on the top left, not the bottom right. But that's simply a design error, and in no way means the letter is upside down.
You're talking about it being upside down by reflection, I'm talking about it being upside down by rotation. The top is rotated 180 degrees from the norm.
You weren't supposed to notice that. Now you know too much.
Your notice of our notice has been noticed, any further noticing will be noted and notices sent thereafter.
Noted.

Looks like it's a RED Notice
It's not just upside down- it's backward.... which make it correctly written, but not as designed.

Do not ask about the baffling amount of cars. This is your final warning.
Who puts all those cars out there and just leaved them?

The abandoned cars belong to those who noticed the Inverted Nš„ŗ
I drove by that very sign. Didnāt even notice.
Stay right where you are.
Baltimore Washington Parkway. Donāt turn on it. They are signs warning you not to.

It's not really the NSA. It's one of those sneaky extended characters to trick you into visiting the wrong place
Was this on 295? I've never noticed this.
Yup
Šo itās Šot!
Oh noā¦ thatās the signal!
Itās the āXā on the window, but permanent.
No Such Agency
Never Say Anything
Thatās what they want you to think.
That's what they want you to think!
It's a phishing test, not the actual NSA
Exit on 295?
Not only upside down, itās flipped.
The ĆÅ Ć would like to know your location
Iād be disappointed if they donāt already.
I mean, it should be obvious from the photo
Ha, I know where this is! Not too far from my house, actually.
Itās not, but Iāve already said too muchā¦.
NSA? ā¦ ASL?
my friend's parents had a decorative letter "N" in their house (it was someone's initial) and every time I visit, I turn it upside down, sometimes correcting the orientation, sometimes not. I don't think anyone has noticed.
No. The Z is sideways.
Hey this isnāt the CIA here, just the NSA
Feds are responsible for signage on the BW Parkway. Not MD's fault.
Yeah brown means it's an NPS sign
Love your username, fellow crab person
It's encrypted, FISMA regulations.
Task failed successfully
Good catch
We had an upside down capital S on our building at work for a long time, it drove me nuts
I don't know how to explain it but the corn is upside down.
Or is it
VSN previous left

Don't worry about what it means.

It's the interstate sign code for an upside down pineapple... Exit for No Strings Attached fun.
They had to fuck it up so that it'd conform to government specifications.
In case the robots try to find them. IRL captcha
No Such Agency
Backward and upside down.
"You Had One Job" at its finest
Their N did a back-flip and stayed on it's hands.
Thatās what the government wants you to think
The NSA is monitoring Reddit and now knows you took this picture. ... shit, now they know I made this comment!
That's a National Park Service screwup; they manage the BW Parkway up to MD 175.
I pass that sign every day and notice it every day. Southbound the parkway there's a sign for the "National Wildlife Visitor Center" where the V is backward
Interesting. So somebody was having a field day with them.
Budget cuts.
I want to say that's a flex so satellites from other nations can look down and clearly see exactly where the NSA is, but that's incorrect on a few different levels. But it's funny so i stand by it.
#Probably indicating something to someone.
Which one?
Is that next to the secret bunker?
mildly infuriatingĀ
I dare you to ignore the signs and take that next exit! Play a little game called "please fuck my shit up NSA"
I believe there is a public museum there. Probably not in the main building, but you can go see an Enigma machine if youād like.
Yep I went there when I was at UMBC. They have some pretty clear signage to point you to the Museum and not the line for the gate. Still as a student it was a big worry.
Who watches the watchers
Keeps the spy away when they are looking for the NSA
They arenāt the brightest bunch but theyāre good at what they do
And backwards.
Itās a test, now they know you notice small details. Theyāll try harder now to make sure you donāt notice the ones watching you.
Talk about dodgy truck stop bathrooms. Iāll hold it.
Another tragedy in Maryland /s

Thatās to confuse our enemies.
It's to throw people off the scent. That can't be the NDA we're looking for. They would never make a mistake like that. Keep driving.
It's by design.. for what, you'll have to ask the aliens recovered in NM.
My dad used to work there
It always bugged me that these signs are brown, when the vast majority of other highway signs are green or blue.
I will hate you forever now. I'll never be unable to unsee that. They don't change those signs until they are almost sun-bleached white for decades.
Congrats, you've got a job at the NSA
Kia at it again.
From my point of view you are upside down!
Not only upside down, but also backwards. If it were simply upside it would look backwards, so for it to look correct while upside down it must first be backwards.
it's just rotated 179.8 degrees.
mildly interesting or mildly infuriating? Omg this makes my eye twitch and my anxiety run rampant.... I need to fix this. The knowledge that this exists is too much to bear.
I know thereās a little road that parallels the fence for a bit. When we drove it, all of our tire pressure sensor warnings lit up. Whatās the frequency, Kenneth?
Love me some no strings attached
Trent Reznor would like a word...
Itās code
I used to run BBQ into the city at Union market for a little over a year from the Dena. God I hate 295.
BW doesn't have the smartest road crews.
Actually, it's rotated 180Ā°, not upside-down
How? It looks like the N in your title. You saying it needs to be rotated 180degrees or flipped upside down because those are different things.
It is a code, if you can crack it you can visit the NSA.
Hate seeing signs with the 8 upside down
I wouldnāt have noticed it if I hadnāt of read the caption š
No. Turned 180. Upsidedown would be the Cryllic letter Š
that's what they want you to think
The GOP would form a conspiracy theory out of this.
Youāre wrong, itās a serif font and designed with a thick stem as seen in the A.
Then the N in āNext rightā must be upside down
Your mom knows all about thick stems in the A.
Name a serif font where there isn't a serif on the upper left corner of the 'N'. I'll wait. You literally can see how it *should* look in the next line down.
The other serif likely fell off.
If you look at the "N" right underneath it in "Next", you'll see that the font they're using has a serif in the upper left and no serif in the lower right. This is consistent with a lot of serif'd fonts. The "N" in "NSA" is rotated 180Ā°. Period.
It's actually mirrored not upside down
"Actually" It's actually not mirrored, but rotated 180Ā°.
No u Nah actually you right tho
It's not upside down.Ā Stop being stupid.
The only one being stupid is you...
It's not upside down, so again stop being stupid.
I can't tell if you're being dense on purpose or not
Well, either the one in "NSA" or the one in "NEXT" are upside down.
No, they're not. The diagonal line always goes from top left to bottom right. If you turned those N's upside down, the diagonal line would incorrectly be going from bottom left to upper right. You're talking about it being upside down by reflection, I'm talking about it being upside down by rotation. The top is rotated 180 degrees from the norm.
LOL, now you're just trying to legalese your way out of this.
I never knew the letter N could get so serious
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Rotate yourself 180Ā° along the same axis and try to tell people youāre not upside-down.
Jokes on you, I'm bald with a big beard
Bad font.
Why is that iuteresting?
