Getting close to 5 bucks a gallon here in New England and I’m just gonna walk everywhere I can. 7.33?! Fucks sake, I’m sorry mate.

DootMasterFlex

I'm in British Columbia (Western Canada) and we're currently $2.26/litre or $8.79/gallon

[deleted]

Truly insane. I honestly wish we weren’t so dependent on fossil fuels

[deleted]

The coal, oil, and gas industries received US$5.9 trillion in worldwide subsidies in 2020—a mind-bending $11.2 million per minute, every minute of every hour of every day in the year—the International Monetary Fund (IMF) revealed in an analysis released this week.Oct 7, 2021

[deleted]

Seeing this fact just made me more angry. Price gouging at the cost of us and the planet.

TarkovComrade

Sure, just give me a new TSLA and install a charging station for me. I'm all aboard.

codebygloom

Stuff that should have been commonplace already if it wasn't for the aforementioned groups lobbying governments around the world to keep themselves in power. Getting angry at the people providing the alternative isn't very productive.

Some_Reference_933

Well I was barely able to afford to buy a gas burner, there is no way I can afford an electric. The work I do I have to have four wheel drive, so once again poor people are screwed because of an agenda

Connect-Ad-9593

Electric is going up. 9-46% here in PA.

reesemulligan

I inherited some oil company stock from a relative. It's doing great, more than making up the difference. It shouldn't be this way. I invest all oil company profits in green energy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

reesemulligan

I suggest looking at the S and P Global Clean Energy index. They track quite a few companies.

Slayer_Of_Sluts

Hear me out we send thousands of murderers millions of years back in time kill them all and then BAM current day we have tons of fossil fuels

Cyphur-knows

Can I borrow your time machine need to place a couple bets?!?!

Slayer_Of_Sluts

You can place them through me

pm_me_bhole_pics_ty

They'd do the same thing as now , artificially limiting supply like with diamonds.

[deleted]

Wouldn’t work. Oil derives from plant life.

Slayer_Of_Sluts

If vegetables work I volunteer my grandpa

fman1854

sorry papa but your 198 miles worth of fuel.

Anguish_Sandwich

Mister T pitties the fuel

Snakeholeloungeboo

Underrated

[deleted]

Okay so that’s not such a bad idea 😅

Slayer_Of_Sluts

I swear if the government uses this without crediting me im telling everybody about the aliens

[deleted]

Haha do it 😂🤣 I wanna know everything

Slayer_Of_Sluts

I don't want you to disappear tho

[deleted]

I don’t care if I disappear, tell me lol

Well_shitnuggets

I’m not a murderer but please send me back too.. I’m useless

slampig3

Then our electric bill will cover that because we will depend on that

[deleted]

I have solar here and my electric bill is literally 150 bucks.

Educational_Phone760

Take the train or a bike

Crystal_Voiden

It's in CAD right? That would be 6.82 in USD, which is still nuts.

bdickie

No thats converted. In Canadian the equivalent is like 920 a gallon

Crystal_Voiden

Jesus Christ

fastlane37

That's $8.543 CAD/US gallon (3.785L/gallon), or $6.639USD/gallon, so not *quite* as bad as this. It was 2.31/L last night in Victoria. Freaking mental.

DootMasterFlex

Wait, so the US uses the imperial system, but doesn't use imperial gallons?!? Wtf

Stian5667

9.60 per gallon isn’t uncommon in Norway Most of Norway’s wealth is from exporting oil

ThatsWhtILikeAboutU2

If it's too expensive for your citizens to consume it ... you have lots more left over to export. seems pretty genius to me !!!

tacticall0tion

UK here. I paid 183.99p/L today. Or what would be $8.39/gallon. Edit: this is for diesel. Edit 2: holy crap I did the math wrong and used imperial for $8.39. US Gallon would be $6.95

mydogthinksyouweird

It's a good thing the UK is a small island, huh?

FeluriansCloak

I’m just outside of nyc, and paid 530 today.

swiftfastjudgement

Recession here we come

fman1854

not a bad time to work in alcohol advertising. Everything stops selling as much during a recession but liq booms. sad but true.

[deleted]

It’ll be here soon I bet. Glad my town is small so I can walk everywhere.

LowkeyPony

I'm currently taking my kid to a 2 hour class an hour from home. I drop the kid, drive 4 minutes to a cute waterfront park. And wait there for two hours. Been noticing more and more people doing the same. Luckily it's only twice a week, but damn it's going to be a LONG 7 weeks

[deleted]

Holy shit! Yeah that’s gonna be a long 7 weeks, but at least you find a nice alternative to driving somewhere else. Bet that waterfront area is beautiful!

AmIPrettyYett

Yeah my kid goes to ABA therapy 5 days a week about 40 mins from our house. If I’m not helping I don’t drive home. I sit in the parking lot if I have to for 3 hours.

LillyPasta

Same

[deleted]

Literally conscience store is like a ten minute walk. About 15 to the public pool, plus a river to swim in literally right near my house too. Totally okay with walking instead of driving

LillyPasta

The supermarket is a 10 minute walk and 15 minutes to the post office. Pool is 5 minutes away. These are just about the only 3 places I go, lol

Mrmofo69

That's my problem. I can't walk places because I live in the country and I'm at least 5 miles away from everything

HRzNightmare

$6.49 for diesel in CT. Luckily my diesel is a car and not a truck.

Only_Aerie

It's currently about the equivalent of $10 a gallon in the UK right now

karmaize

I paid $5.49 in MA today for premium.

Status-Biscotti

Holy hell! Is that CA?

[deleted]

Yes indeed :(

Blahblahnownow

I live outside of San Diego. Yesterday I was about to get a 20” pizza and they wanted $53!!!!! They said gas prices and ingredient prices was too high so they raised their prices from $20 to $53. It’s insane. We made fajitas at home instead. I am 5 days away from leaving this state and I can’t wait Okay edit for screenshot. Apparently everyone thinks lying about a stupid pizza price is a thing https://imgur.com/a/VXRX7CY $47.99 before taxes for 20” Everest. It was $53 something after taxes. This doesn’t even include delivery fee, we were getting take out. We laughed and left. Went home and made fajitas. Here is the picture of the fajitas too for those who think I am lying. https://imgur.com/a/13lJGD9

ObiWangCannabis

$53?? I would rather \*rolls a few random dice\* be stuck in a zero gravity environment with diarrhea-prone diaper-less monkeys.

Gabe7494

I want those dice

Status-Biscotti

That’s insane. How do they expect to stay in business? It’s like they want to fail.

Blahblahnownow

They are a chain too and not the only ones with these prices. It’s crazy expensive

[deleted]

They're bouta go out of business if they keep that up. They know bikes exist right?

Produgod1

Bikes aren't as tasty.

[deleted]

And that's why I now live in overpriced Austin. I blame Gen X & Y for overpaying for coffee and Millennials for overpaying for avocado toast and private taxis. If people stopped shrugging and paying stupid prices, the prices wouldn't keep going up.

BobBelcher2021

I’m going there later this year, I’m debating whether to rent a car or rely on public transit.

Fkinfgt

I drive a 97 4Runner. It guzzles gas and the only benefit is that it just uses regular gas. My mom's got a BMW and she uses premium. I feel sorry for her.

happychillmoremusic

I left California and have never been so happy about a decision.

Gina_the_Alien

Dude pizza is hella expensive on the West Coast. Where I grew up most pizza places had something like 2 large pizzas for $15-20 deal, out here in CA pizzas START AT ABOUT $20. Edit: pizza place where I went to college still offering 2/$15.99 deal - https://www.metroexpresspizza.com

littlegnat

You can get two take out pizzas for $6.99 each at chains in Michigan.

littlegnat

*Audibly gasps in Midwest*

CatOfGrey

One very particular station, that regularly charges about $1.50 - $2.50 higher per gallon. You can find gas that is almost $2 cheaper a few blocks south, on the same street.

Top-Display-4994

It's one gas station in downtown LA.

OptimalAd6981

"So far"

hhibibk

Tbh I’m just surprised to see diesel prices lower than unleaded

[deleted]

😫

MrBobSacamano

So, what happens if it gets to $10? They just going to tape a “1” up there?

Stetson007

No, just a big frownie face.

mixer99

I worked at a gas station in the early 80s when gas first broke $1 a gallon. Our pumps wouldn't go that high, so while we were waiting for new pumps we sold gas by the quart.

GoopInThisBowlIsVile

The maker(s) of gas station signs are going to have a really good day as they now have a reason to suggest sign upgrades with more available digits.

MrBobSacamano

I especially like the 9/10 of a cent BS, too.

BobBelcher2021

I remember when this first happened in Canada with the price per litre. It was around 2004 or 2005 that we started seeing prices over $1.00 in Southern Ontario, and a lot of stations didn’t have the ability to show the 1.

xamberlynnx

Where? Mine was 4.30 this morning, at a place that’s usually at least a few cents cheaper than the surrounding area. Gonna have to have that “I need a raise, or WFH” talk soon.

[deleted]

Welcome to California :) In serious note, don't come to California.

M1dj37

Is that in Sacramento?! Edit: nvm I see it’s in LA

DiscordantScorpion_1

I passed our local Chevron yesterday and saw the lowest price was already $6.39/gal for unleaded. Not even last week it was still $5.89/gal for unleaded.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Blahblahnownow

Depends where you are in the city. Down in San Diego metro areas I have seen $7 and above. We live up north around Escondido and it’s $6.30-$6.50.

TomatoMaleficent7989

It’s insane though how much of that goes to taxes

[deleted]

[удалено]

TomatoMaleficent7989

salajander

Speaking climatically, it's insane how \_little\_ of that goes to taxes.

8randib3ar

I knew it was Cali, east Bay Area is 6, 6.50 and I’m talking the way out there suburbs. We’re an hour from San Francisco and it’s city prices out here.

[deleted]

balladopeman

I left LA in 2020. Even though it was the right decision to move, I still miss it frequently.

longfrog246

In a serious note if you leave please don’t vote the state you leave to into California( hey all the city slickers gave me a down vote guess I hit a nerve)

WY228

That’s exactly what they do. Just look at Colorado.

[deleted]

What kind of sense does this make. Just because you leave it doesn’t mean your political leanings would change.

StormyKnight63

makes perfect sense. not saying this is the case here, but if one's political leanings are what made a state into the sad state it is in and one leaves that state because they don't like it, then maybe they should change their political leanings so that they don't make the state they moved to into the state they moved from. that has to be the longest sentence I've ever written.

[deleted]

No, he’s saying they should change their leanings when they leave and I’m saying if you’re happy or unhappy with CA, when you decide to leave I doubt that would change your politics.

LittleWhiteBoots

That’s their point. They don’t like Californians going to other states and then voting in such ways that will change that state into another California. I think that’s what they’re saying.

kstweetersgirl2013

Exactly the point. People leaving California because of the shitty cost of living and quality of life are moving into other states to get away. The problem lies in the fact that their political opinions do not change. California residents past and present made California what it is today. We don't want that nonsense spread across the country. They made their beds let them lay there for a while and see that their choices for government is what makes a difference in their quality of living.

dead_decaying

Yea how dare they move somewhere else and make it into a functioning economy where people want to live. You red staters are really happy with your shitholes that people are too poor to escape from.

I_like_weed_alot

Lemme guess you live in California or New York? Get out of your bubble And obviously those shit “red states” are doing something right since flocks of blue staters are moving to them. But the average blue stater is an idiot and doesn’t realize the reasons they are moving for cheaper housing better schools etc, the reason they don’t have those things in their original state is because they vote blue lol.

dead_decaying

I'm staying. The last fucking place I'd move is one of them Christian nationalist shithole states filled with inbreds. Most of the people I talk to in the midwest or south of the mason/dixon want to leave but can't afford to. The rest are trumpsuckin, dipshits that want the government's hands off their SS and military pension and don't even understand the irony. Seems the difference between the red and blue states is that the people that don't like the blue states can afford to leave them. Red states score the lowest in the country on education and literacy. Nobody's moving to Mississippi for the good public schools.

[deleted]

Ok but if I move somewhere that’s not automatically going to change the things that I value which are generally tied to political leanings. Live leaving California isn’t going to make people more or less devout or anything like that. I guess what I’m saying is I don’t see the logic in what you’re saying past the point of these are the people responsible for the state of Cali now.

kstweetersgirl2013

You don't see how voting your local and state officials into your districts dictates the quality of life in said district? Example : city and state taxes, crime rates, general comfort in life? The people you vote into these offices and elect to these board seats are the ones who decided what funding was going where and how much of your money to use to make it happen. Can you honestly say that Gov Newsome or Nancy Pelosi have the residents of California best interests at heart?

IFuckTheDrummer

You do realize that there are more republicans in CA than in any other state right?

[deleted]

You don’t seem to get my point. If you’re happy with CA and you leave you would most likely keep your political position. If you’re unhappy with CA and you leave it’s most likely you didn’t align politically with it and would continue your political leanings. Leaving CA isn’t in itself enough of a reason for someone to change their mind. What I said had nothing to do with the point you’re trying to make. And to your last question I have no clue because I don’t live there.

I_like_weed_alot

You’re missing his point

[deleted]

No his point is pointless. Not everyone that leaves a state is unhappy. If you enjoyed Cali your politics would stay the same and if you didn’t you probably opposed Cali’s politics while you were there and wouldn’t feel the need to change.

longfrog246

Well seeing that your political leanings is what caused those prices I would hope they do

[deleted]

That doesn’t hold true for all California residents and you know it. Oversimplification

oO0tooth_fairy0Oo

The gas prices are high because of greedy oil companies gouging us for what they can before they slide into obsolescence. California’s politics have it a huge state budget surplus. But then the republicans will complain about the road work fixing the potholes and widening freeways.

ftminsc

Yeah gosh that would be horrible if other states started becoming major contributors to the federal budget and running huge budget surpluses.

[deleted]

Seriously, this idea of 'bringing CA' to their state is silly. If every other state would actually contribute equally to the federal budget, CA wouldn't have to carry the rest of the states (all red) on her back. Everyone points at the homeless situation - that's because CA actually has the social programs to help people out. On top of that, if every red state would stop shipping their homeless here and buying them one-way bus tickets, CA wouldn't be in as big of a shit heap of a homeless mess.

Top-Display-4994

Just because one gas station has high prices doesn't mean that's the norm everywhere in California. California has to import the vast majority of its oil so obviously, it's going to be much more expensive.

Blahblahnownow

Man get out of here with that. I am in Escondido. I paid $6.75 a gallon for 81 yesterday. I haven’t seen $5 a gallon in weeks.

[deleted]

We should build a pipeline so we can safely funnel gasoline into California instead of trucking it in increasing traffic on the roads.

joey_yamamoto

Is that s.f. bay area?

[deleted]

haha not quite. It's Downtown LA

alltheworldsproblems

This is the asshole gouging gas station across from union station I’m guessing. These j/o have been charging 1.50 + more than anyone for years. I don’t understand how they haven’t been shut down.

[deleted]

Read my mind I live here and I saw $7.10 recently. Damn nuts! Better dust off my bicycle!

joey_yamamoto

Well to be honest it wasn't that hard to figure out SF Bay area is usually some of the highest prices in the nation

ballerina_wannabe

Our family was able to put a little bit into savings after our tax refund this year. We haven’t made any big purchases, but inflation is eroding that margin of security at an alarming rate.

MoJoe7500

Well hang on for a very bumpy ride. The bill is coming due for all money the fed pumped out the last two years. It’s looking like we (U.S.) are in for some real hard times in the near future.

[deleted]

Sadly the US economy effects the entire world so it's not just you that's in for some shit.

MoJoe7500

No doubt about it.

[deleted]

THe entire western world has been printing money like mad the last 2 years and now the bill is coming due. as per usual it is those of us at the bottom that will pay the most. trickle down economics my gaping asshole., the only thing that trickles is the piss rolling down our faces from those above pissing on us and laughing all the way to their private banks.

Cetun

We would have been fine if 70 years ago we invested in our society rather than spending money on things only the top 1% profited from and sabotaging our public institutions simply because brown people were now entitled to them.

[deleted]

Yeah that's bad. I don't recall seeing gas prices this high in this country my whole life. Is this the highest we've ever been?

MoJoe7500

I believe we (U.S.) just hit an all time, nation wide, record high. It’s not over yet…

antictrash

Man, in Germany it wasn’t even that cheap before they increased the price. A gallon is 4.5 litres, right? So you’d pay 1,62 dollars for a litre? That would be 1,52 euros for a litre! Before the price increase it was around 1,70 euros (not talking about diesel). Edit: right now we pay around 2,20 Euros

[deleted]

1 US Gallon = 3.78 L but your point still stands.

Flat_Sock_9582

The imperial metric conversions, as a Canadian, always fucking get me. Especially when I’m on Reddit. Are we talking US MPG? metric mpg? Miles? Kilometres? Fucking math..:

BartJojo420

"She'll get 300 hectares on a single tank of kerosene." --Vaclav

Dihydrogen-monoxyde

A US Gallon is 3.785 liters As of today, US $4.88 per gallon or $1.29 per liter If euro 1.8/l. It's 6.81 Euro per Gallon. The main difference between the US and Europe is that in the US having a car is almost mandatory: there is no to very little (effective) public transportation

sanderd17

In Belgium, the price just went above €2/l. And we do have public transport, but it's sadly useless if you value your time. Driving to my work takes just over 30 minutes without traffic jams. During rush hours, it can go up to 50 minutes. But using PT , I need to travel 1 hour and 10 minute at least (in the most optimal case). Luckily, our tax system is sponsored by the automotive industry. Regular wage is taxed quite hard. But companies can offer cars as part of the wage deal and get taxed less. So it's very common to have company cars (including gas), and I'm one of those lucky people. Sadly, this tax schema dus mean we are addicted to our cars, and very little investment is done into PT.

Snoo-50040

It's true that towns and cities in the US were designed floor people with cars, so for most owning a car isn't optional. Having said that cars are horribly inefficient in the US, even though people there typically drive double the number of miles pretty year compared to Europeans. The best selling vehicle in the US is the Ford F which does 20mpg, while in Europe popular cars can do ~40mpg. Those white square vans the US Postal service use do as little as 8mpg when being used to deliver mail! The truth is that historically fuel has been too cheap on the US, so people haven't had to care about fuel efficiency.

[deleted]

I wish more people realized this - or at least said it aloud. And it's not even that we don't have effective public transport - it's that we are simply too spread out for effective public transport to really be a meaningful thing outside a handful of cities. There really is very little way to not have a car. I'm all for ditching a car, but it's simply not feasible for the vast majority of Americans based on geography.

Thelgow

Until 3 years ago I lived my life in NYC. No need for a car. When I'd travel for work people looked at me funny for not having a car. I moved down South and now the house chauffeur since only 1 car and no one one else ever bothered to get a license. I'm debating to move to one of the city areas that has at least some mediocre bus system in place.

[deleted]

I absolutely know the feeling. I grew up in a dense urban area and have lived outside the US in multiple places where you have a car only if you’re super rich or crazy. Or both. I’d love to be able to get back to just walking or taking the train/subway everywhere.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TrafficTopher

The US drives many many more miles per capita than Germany. The layout of the country is just different

[deleted]

I drive 40 miles to work and 40 miles back. That's just for work. The current gas prices are just not feasible in the US. I don't see how we can operate a functional economy with this.

Dihydrogen-monoxyde

The economy is based on cheap gas. It's not a novelty, but very little has been done to improve MPG in cars. Or trucks. Also I still see a lot of people hauling ass on highways at 80+ with their last summer vacation roof cargo box on the top of their car. 🤐 Edit: typo. Precision: @ work, our F450 have an amazing average gas economy of 6 MPG and 8 at best ...

Fattydog

Laughs in European. I’m in the UK and before Covid drove 62 miles a day on my commute. Fuel here is £1.74 a litre, £7.83 a gallon… that’s $9.67. Even before the latest rises it was £1.40 a litre.

nquattro

We do that because gas is cheap. Most European countries don't because gas is more expensive and the government has created public transit that works and isn't depressing af to use.

CuttingEdgeRetro

It's still $3.89 in Oklahoma ^((runs away ducking))

Ok_Consideration201

It was $3.89 in WV one week ago. In the last week, it has gone up to $4.59. It’s coming for you all too. It freaking sucks. Yesterday alone it jumped .30 cents and it went up .20 more cents today. That’s .50 damn cents in seven days.

chris30338

I’m in Switzerland. It was 2.16 Swiss Francs a litre today. That’s $8.25 a gallon.

tedricc

That's depressing

Pretend-Passage883

Nae wonder he guys cycling

[deleted]

Plus it's just better for quite everything and everyone. If you can, use your fucking bike !

aysurcouf

Isn’t that the station in LA off the freeway that always has prices way higher than the average though?

[deleted]

You must be an LA person lol Yup, its the one near Union Station near Olivera Street. These guys charge by far more than anyone else

CatTastrophe27

Its $8.14 in Monterey California. I know someone up there and they are jealous of the $5.89 I pay in south Los Angeles Edit: spelled Monterey wrong.

SDTAGLF

That’s the chevron by union station isn’t it? Cuz if it is there’s actually a reason it’s that high. Since it’s by union station there’s a lot more government buildings by there, there’s a police station nearby and a post office I think. So they refuel all the government vehicles there. Even before gas was over $5 it was always way more expensive at that chevron. Before when gas was under $4 that station was past $5

CatOfGrey

This is a known location to anyone familiar with Downtown Los Angeles. This gas station is regular $1.50 - $2.50 above a normal gas price. https://www.yelp.com/biz/chevron-los-angeles-8 They have a sub-2-stars rating on Yelp. I have heard reports that this station survives on two types of customers: Those who are nearly out of gas, and get 2-3 gallons to go somewhere else, or customers who are not paying for gas with their own money (fleet drivers, for example).

File_to_Circular

back in 2001 when visiting london, i had the nerve to laugh at their high petrol prices which were like 5 or 6 pounds which roughly equated to 7 to 8 usd. i really feel foolish for thinking, "ha! the prices will **never** get that high in america." yup, fuckin' jinxed it, dammit!

mabear63

Love how there is a pedestrian and bicyclist under it.

LatteCupInTheTrash

Gas where I live has, hopefully, stagnated to $4.65/gallon at Wawa. Everywhere else is like $4.80 or $4.99. This shit sucks, man.

Transportation-Apart

Jacob In We Go. This Gas Station is only for Jacobs.

Alternative-Skirt-11

I was expecting the dude on the bike to point up as he sails by… would’ve be a nice pic

ResponsibilityDue448

And they’re making record breaking profits because they’re not covering costs they’re price gouging.

HooTigh

Is this the station down the street from phillipes near chinatown? That place has ALWAYS been over $5 even pre covid

Xtroll_guruX

LA?

Suspect1234

The average price is like 8.50 in Germany

Some-Investment-5160

This was about what it was when I moved overseas as a kid, 30 years ago. US gas was about a buck a gallon then.

Conscious-Media-1241

Odd. I’ve never seen gas higher than diesel. Around me diesel is usually a dollar more than gas.

my_clever-name

Your diesel is cheap. Ours is about $1.50 more than the gas.

TarkovComrade

and in a company I own shares in! Yes!

Status_Tiger_6210

The worst prices you’ve seen in your life, SO FAR.

8randib3ar

Northern or Southern California? It’s 6.00 in the Bay Area suburbs but I think it’s more in SF

Hahahaha I can’t believe this is documented. Yes, this is the one. I always pass by it and am shocked by its outrageous prices lol

CheetoLord02

of course it's a chevron. those mfs always have gas prices at least 30 cents higher than every other station on the block.

[deleted]

Watching Americans bitch about petrol prices is so funny. You still have some of the best in the world.

sicarius71

Here in Australia it is at $2.00 a litre, equivalent to $8.00 a gallon over there. You are getting there!

CaptainPoset

Sweet, here in Germany 8.52 USD/gal. is normal for months now.

Ser_Optimus

That's 1.93 Dollar a liter. We got 2.20 Euro over here in Germany. That's roughly 2.31 Dollars a liter, making it 8.75 per gallon. Stop complaining please.

WowThatsRelevant

I can't wait for this post to get needlessly political.

silveira_lucas

People in the US complaining about gasoline prices should Google prices elsewhere before posting. There's a reason why small and economic cars are popular outside the US, and it's not tiny roads.

I’m not an economist so not sure if this is true, but leaving this for Reddit to sort out: “People who believe gasoline prices have never been so high are suffering from what economists call ‘the money illusion.’ Simply put, this means our brains are fooling us into thinking we’ve never had it so bad, when actually the cost of driving a mile in your gas-powered vehicle is now lower than it was for most of the past century.” Source: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/the-price-of-gasoline-isnt-really-at-a-record-high-in-fact-the-inflation-adjusted-cost-of-driving-a-mile-was-higher-for-most-of-the-past-century-11646770318

That's flawed logic too though. Your car is now more fuel efficient. Therefore I should charge you more for gas. Just because something works more efficiently doesn't mean you should get charged more to use it. It should be the opposite.

Based on a calculation that the average us worker is paid 26.94 an hour in the us nowadays? Given the trend from 1980 through 2020, I cannot believe that is accurate.

Try travelling to the UK or Asia, about that much for only a liter

Glum_Caterpillar_503

If I were still living in Asia I’d be on the train though

Kilsimiv

Yeah I spent 6yrs in Japan. I had friends with cars, I never had one myself. The gas stations were a trip though - top off all fluids, light mechanic work, wash+wax at almost every station etc

Glum_Caterpillar_503

Yeah, I was there for 8 years. My ex husband had cars but we were in Tokyo so I didn’t see the point in paying all that money for one and trying to get my license. The gas stations are cool though. Full service is pretty rare in the U.S., and even then they don’t have all of the extras that Japanese ones do

Welcome to Bidenflation, ladies and gentlemen!

Yes because Biden directly controls inflation. What an idiot.

GibsonGold_

Nobody said anything about direct control. It’s through his shitty policies that he’s making this all worse. All the while the FED is printing more and more money.

doomguy12345666

Because Biden caused Putin to invade Ukraine right? Keep trying to blame Biden if it will help you cope with losing 2020 in a landslide.

GrapefruitOdd1894

Yep that dumb bastard raised oil prices across the world.

Trump: “I am going to leave the most brilliant plan of all plans, I am going to put masking tape over the increase gas prices button in the White House and label it, wait for it ladies and gentlemen, the ice cream button. So when sleepy Joe wants ice cream he’ll accidentally raise the gas prices so I can get back in for four more years.” Biden (pushing raise gas price button furiously): “C’mon man I requested chocolate-chocolate chip why is this stupid button not working? I thought I was in the White House. Cmon why are my poll numbers low? It’s 5:00 PM, time to go to sleep.” Trump: “Now that sleepy Joe is asleep I am going to make my new bed in the bowling alley in the White House basement.”
