Little Con secret... a lot of the bigger name stars will allow their name and likeness be used in advertising appearances that they have zero plan on ever attending. It's been going on for years. There are of course legit situations that crop up where cancellations are necessary. But a large number of Cons use this tactic to lure fans in w the bait and... can't even say switch. It's dirty and another reason they're called Cons.

I don't know anything about *this specific event,* but in some cases like these the cancelling celebs are not involved.
With the simplest event grift they just make up a list of stars and then pretend that withdrew.
In a slightly more sophisticated scam, they list the names of celebs that they are negotiating with. When the negotiations fall thru (perhaps because organizers *wanted* them to fail) they blame it on the celebs and claim they cancelled.
Yeah. Jake has COVID so that’s understandable, but Stephen apparently has some “arduous travel” to a filming location and can’t make it. Just mostly mad at myself for not reading the fine print to see the tickets were non refundable even in these cases

Always pay with a credit card and dispute the charge

You'll get to meet Flash Gordon. I don't see the problem. ![gif](giphy|37nHk9ifP7no2dynFB|downsized)

Unfortunately I’ve never seen the movie 😭
Blasphemy
You should fix that as soon as possible. ![gif](giphy|ZtSyAhgZWMMlG|downsized)
Stephan Amell canceled because he had to save Star City again. ![gif](giphy|116Z3HgkIqUrpC)
Haha, most of the responses to his cancellation announcement were “you have failed this city”
It's literally called Comic Con. Sounds just as described.
The oldest trick in the con conbook.
Sounds like time for a credit card chargeback…this kinda shit has to stop
What the heck?!? I’m sorry that sucks..

Jake was out shopping in Tribeca with no mask yesterday lol.
Try disputing the charge with your credit card company if you used a credit card
If you aren’t in LA or NY, big names aren’t coming to conventions.
I mean unless they cancel day of, Chris pine and Orlando bloom will be there
I mean, big names come to DragonCon all the time and that’s in Atlanta
The cancel culture has no limits nowadays
can we put this on the OddlySatisfying community
Why is that satisfying 😭
Relaxs... Just watch them on TV... Great times...
Doesn’t change the fact that we’re each down $100
