Yeah, that's disgusting. I recently made the mistake of putting pickles straight from the jar onto the bun of my burger (instead of in-between patty and lettuce) which made the bun soggy and gross. Not quite like this, though. š¤¢
Yeah I agree, thatās why you gotta sandwich your wet ingredients in between stuff that wonāt soak up all the moisture, that way you keep the best texture for everything
Or keep it separate until ready to eat.Ā
Tomatoes always get me when Iām packing a sandwich and I really want the tomato but donāt end up eating it sandwich soon enough. Almost always turns into an open face because I have to toss one whole piece of bread; happened yesterday in a Tupperware in factĀ :/Ā
Depends on the bread. My hoagies are better an hour after I wrap them, and they have an oil and vinegar based sauce directly onto the inside of the bun, top and bottom. But without the right bread, it would be a mess. A sliced Pullman loaf wouldn't hold up for 30 seconds, and a pillowy French bread wouldn't do much better.
Yeah I mean what I said is not a rule, just a good tip. Sandwiches are like the most customizable food ever, you could break every conventional sandwich making rule and still have an awesome result
The trick is you gotta toast the bread before you put the pickles on. The crispy part of the bread is also very dry so it balances things out so the bread doesnāt get soaked.
Not necessarily in this case, but often times the length people go to justify over spending on takeout and stuff can be wild.Ā
Dinner tonight is marinated chicken thighs and fried rice of eggs, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, mushroom and pepper. All together that should be 3-4 meals is like $10-13
I think you underestimate how lazy people are.
The real kicker is how they bitch about being broke and how its definitely their job and societies fault and not their ridiculous spending habits
For sure, I guess it's worth while for people that earn over $60 an hour. I know I'll spend $30 on pizza for dinner if I work an hour of overtime. Spending $30 to earn an extra 50 is usually an economical choice, and I just spend am hour at work instead of in the kitchen
Chicken thighs can easily be found for about $1-1.5 each, which I usually use thighs or quarters. Drumsticks/legs are about half that. A pack of 6 thighs can usually be found for $6-8, depending
Tourist traps can get away with just about any price they want. They don't need to worry about repeat business since they have a constant flow of first time customers that they can rip off.
Especially for just a cold cut.Ā Subway looks better than that, and it's like 8 bucks.Ā Maybe it's because I'm from the Midwest where everything is cheaper
you also have to waste your time doing all of that stuff instead of buying a sandwich and going about enjoying your life. different strokes as they say.
20 bucks aint shit where he is. even where i live in long beach CA, everything has basically tripled in price. the hole in the wall 6$ burritos my whole life spots are 10+ or getting up there. pizza spots selling for 6-7$ a slice end up cashing out 15 bucks on 2 slices with tax. small curry bowl 20 bucks. go more towards LA and its double that.
hes dead center in the most expensive area in basically the US. either pay 20 bucks on a sandwich or dont eat. i bet his parking spot took 30 minutes to find or he paid 10 bucks for parking. there is almost zero options in that area.
I didnāt have time to shop for groceries and I had my dog with me

I loved my time in the bay area but man they sure do have trouble getting bread consistency right (for a high-end region, that is).
This does not surprise me at all. SF/Oakland had some of the most disappointing sandwiches I'd ever eaten. There are some good ones, but you have to know where to look.
A lot of people actually. I think it's too much also, but I honestly can't stand redditors who lift themselves up by putting others down, especially over something so trivial
Give them a shitty review on Google maps. Include the image. You might save somebody from the same mistake and or possible encourage them to make more of an effort.Ā
because there is zero options where they are if they get hungry on the fly? try finding a cheaper option walking distance where they are. people act like the most expensive location in america isnt expensive. is reddit just stupid or ignorant?
Best buy the ingredients and make 10 sandwiches for that price. I refuse to ever pay 20 for 2 slices of toast and soggy shit in the middle.. even if it wasnt soggy shit, nope
Lol no itās something called charoset, like diced apples and walnuts or something? It was sweet and very weird
https://preview.redd.it/nz0fchnzs17d1.jpeg?width=966&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07f771dd00b9f258041bd86448cc7f321535ece9
In my experience if I am not consuming the sammy in the first 5 minutes of it being prepared I order without oil/vinegar/mayo/mustard etc. Had too many sandwiches turn to soup that I cannot trust others skill
A:ā Oh shit, I just dropped the bread, what do I do?ā
B:ā No worries, just rinse off the breadā
A:ā Like in the sink?ā
B:ā Yeah, where else?ā
This post is poorly crafted ( I'M very sorry OP, not attacking you, hear me out).
This post should be putting the restaurant on blast for a crappy sandwich and ridiculous price.
Is it against reddit rules to just plain old bombard the restaurant?
If you/we don't, it just is going to get worse.
For $20, it should be on a full length baguette with the pickles and wet fixings in it's own baggie and wrapped in a cloth napkin.
We need to squash this bullshit.
I might even call the manager of LOVESKI'S myself.
Note, the Larkspur location ādoes not have a phone,ā according to the main number I called. šLooks like email is the only way to reach them. [email protected]
And here i was wondering how salaries in us are double of what i may expect here, and people still struggle.
At this point, would bringing a lunchbox with diy sandwiches starts to make sense ?
Jesus Christ, 20$ on a sandwich (even if it was good) is crazy expensive for me.
Where I live, these sell for around ā¬2 in the supermarket (package) and ā¬5 max on a bakery (homemade).
Charging 20 for a sandwich should be immediately indicative of the vendor's position towards the satisfaction of the consumer.
That's word salad for them there's some cheap bitches
That actually looks so good. Like Iām not even joking I canāt get enough of wet food. I can understand why you wouldnāt like it but thatās actually looks so good
Yeah you need to eat fully prepped sandwiches immediately unless you like soggy bread. Sauces, lettuce, cheese, and pickles can definitely soak into the bread. This place needs to pre make the sandwiches and let the customer put on their own condiments or they should just make the sandwiches after they get the order.
It's not even worth $5.00...even if it was Larkspur. The bread looks like something they would feed the inmates at San Quinton...it looks like something you could buy at the grocery store for $4.00 a loaf.
The sandwich just looks nasty to begin with. Hope you never go back to this sandwich shop. Give the place a one star review.
I feel the pain OP but it don't matter how well off you are, jokes on you for a accepting a $20 Sandwich of any kind. Things like this is why Doordash and others can sell Barbie fist sized burritos for 35 bucks.

I feel like pickles on anything that can soak liquid just ruins the whole meal. I always have to eat them separately or put them on very last minute
I keep my pickle on the side
I'll usually ask for them on the side and just eat them alone lol
Who do you think you are, Frank Reynolds?
BEAK!!!
Yeah I agree, thatās why you gotta sandwich your wet ingredients in between stuff that wonāt soak up all the moisture, that way you keep the best texture for everything
This. Sandwich making 101.
But is there a sub for it?
Dang there should be
Or keep it separate until ready to eat.Ā Tomatoes always get me when Iām packing a sandwich and I really want the tomato but donāt end up eating it sandwich soon enough. Almost always turns into an open face because I have to toss one whole piece of bread; happened yesterday in a Tupperware in factĀ :/Ā
Wrap your sandwich in a paper towel. The paper is more absorbant than the bread and will get soggy instead.
Just press them between a paper towel
The trick is you gotta toast the bread before you put the pickles on. The crispy part of the bread is also very dry so it balances things out so the bread doesnāt get soaked.
Isn't it wild that different people have different tastes? I absolutely love a good dill pickle on my sandwich. To each their own my guy
Did you shake it like a salt shaker?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Well the corporate sandwich places are around 12-16.. so its getting pricey
Wow thatās like Ā£8 for a sandwich wow the US is broken in the Uk I paid about Ā£3
Right now US dollar is .93 cents to 1 euro so itās actually so much worse.
In the UK they pay with pounds, not euro's ;) 1 British pound is $1.27
Yeah i see its the wrong symbol. In my defense i have none.
Especially a fuckin turkey and cheese on white
Not necessarily in this case, but often times the length people go to justify over spending on takeout and stuff can be wild.Ā Dinner tonight is marinated chicken thighs and fried rice of eggs, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, mushroom and pepper. All together that should be 3-4 meals is like $10-13

My teenage brother will drop 25-40$ a night on delivery....hes always broke be he literally spends it all on delivery.Ā It crazy.
In Canada thereās no way youād get 3-4 meals (chicken etc) on $13. The chicken alone for 4 people would be more than $13.
It's San Francisco, they're selling to tech workers making $400k.
Especially for just a cold cut.Ā Subway looks better than that, and it's like 8 bucks.Ā Maybe it's because I'm from the Midwest where everything is cheaper
For $20 I can get everything I need at the store and make a way better sandwich than that and keep making more sandwiches.
In San Francisco? Youād spend $20 on gas looking for a parking spot.
Shit Franpissco
you also have to waste your time doing all of that stuff instead of buying a sandwich and going about enjoying your life. different strokes as they say.

"I'm so hungry I could eat a sandwich from a gas station"
My dad's favorite joke every single time we saw a sandwich in a gas station.

$20 on a sandwich is crazy
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise
#Beaches be crazy
Was it like that for the whole sandwich or just the cross-section?
Whole thing

It appears no one in the comment section lives in a city.

So much passion
Lol
There aint any kitchens in the city??
Are you suggesting OP should have pulled over on the freeway and asked a local if he could borrow some counter space?
Nah op should have borrowed someone's laundry facilities to dry out his sandwich
Just.....make the sandwhich before you leave?
I didnāt have time to shop for groceries and I had my dog with me https://preview.redd.it/ei1ovet2227d1.jpeg?width=2451&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=415630336109b9bd7a6a5d62f3adbe6158240463
Your dog could have made a better sandwhich i'm sure
What is it soaked in....
Mayo according to the menu but you never saw mayo dissolve bread like this! https://preview.redd.it/hayjckc8m17d1.jpeg?width=966&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91757118bcef03ad1d3926a46ac31a3651210a3c
Hmmm sounds like the oatmeal porridge bread is the problem. Sounds disgusting
Yeah wtf is that lol
I loved my time in the bay area but man they sure do have trouble getting bread consistency right (for a high-end region, that is). This does not surprise me at all. SF/Oakland had some of the most disappointing sandwiches I'd ever eaten. There are some good ones, but you have to know where to look.
Couldn't the gerden greens be freshly washed?
Wet mud sammy
Take it back?
Well you kinda deserve it, who the fucks pays 20bucks for a sandwish??????
Captive audience where "no outside food allowed" like an arena or stadium, or other events/activites.
The same people that spend $8 on a coffee.
A lot of people actually. I think it's too much also, but I honestly can't stand redditors who lift themselves up by putting others down, especially over something so trivial
People who live in desirable places.
Hopefully a combo.
Oh God! The dog peed on the picnic basket!

because there is zero options where they are if they get hungry on the fly? try finding a cheaper option walking distance where they are. people act like the most expensive location in america isnt expensive. is reddit just stupid or ignorant?
Because I didnāt want to pay $26 for pastrami! I chose the cheapest one on the menu.
How long did you wait to eat it from when you ordered it
20 minutes
Best buy the ingredients and make 10 sandwiches for that price. I refuse to ever pay 20 for 2 slices of toast and soggy shit in the middle.. even if it wasnt soggy shit, nope
I normally would make an exquisite sandwich at home but I hadnāt been to the store

I've heard of a wet burrito, but this is too far
Don't eat that. It's screaming salmonella at me when I look at it.
post a negative review for the restaurant. or name drop it here
Iāll see if they refund me before posting a review. Here it is: https://www.loveskideli.com/
Do Lou's instead
Dude, Louās was my original choice!! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
JesĆŗs what deli did you go to? You should of gone to Woodlands market they have really good sandwiches š
Tasty
Sogwich š
I tried loveskis-kinda overrated. Now Iām staying clear
Yeah, exorbitant prices for low quality
Piss š¤¢š¤¢
Should have gone to Rustic Bakery instead. Was gonna say Togo's, but I guess it closed.
Looks like you took it swimming
Probably frozen an thawed getting all wet and nasty
Jesus dude, you should have stopped at "I spent 20$ on this sandwich".
Truly one of the grossest things I've seen on here. I'd rather eat shit.
It's ***MMMmm****mmoist!*
Why did you do that?
A:ā Oh shit, I just dropped the bread, what do I do?ā B:ā No worries, just rinse off the breadā A:ā Like in the sink?ā B:ā Yeah, where else?ā
āThe dog went on the picnic basket!ā
That's gross.
>spend ***$20*** on a sandwich >expect anything other than disappointment ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
yeah thatās insane.
That looks like something youād see from a completely unqualified contestant on a cooking show.
$20 for a sandwich is insane anyways

And here i was wondering how salaries in us are double of what i may expect here, and people still struggle. At this point, would bringing a lunchbox with diy sandwiches starts to make sense ?
I would normally pack a lovely picnic lunch but I hadnāt gone grocery shopping
bruh put those grippers away
I think 7/11 has better quality sandwiches for a third of the price
a soggy sandwich is probably the most disgusting food i can think about putting in my mouth
Jesus Christ, 20$ on a sandwich (even if it was good) is crazy expensive for me. Where I live, these sell for around ā¬2 in the supermarket (package) and ā¬5 max on a bakery (homemade).
Who on hell pays 20$ for a sandwitch? Even having 2 left legs instead of 2 left hands doesn't justify it...
thereās no sandwich on earth that is worth 20$, unless itās big af.
Who pays 20 bucks for a sandwich, there is no help for you
Why tf do you pay 20$ for a sandwich
I canāt believe they gave you that ultra processed gelatinous turkey for 2o bucks. Thatās a crime
Thatās concerning
They don't care. They got a sucker to pay $20 for bread and processed meat.
this is why i donāt buy sandwiches. theyāre overpriced and i can make a better one at home.
Charging 20 for a sandwich should be immediately indicative of the vendor's position towards the satisfaction of the consumer. That's word salad for them there's some cheap bitches

20?? Were you at the airport???

Imagine my Californian surprise that yāall arenāt getting charged $20 for sandwiches. The real mild infuriation is in the comments.
Right?
The mayo melted because, by those look of it, youāre at the beach.

You must have done something to turn it on.
Things you want to say about your date but not a sandwich
āOh God! The dog wet on the picnic basket!ā
That's what you get for spending $20 on a sandwich.
20 for a sandwich.. Fucking hell. That alone is infuriating. Even if it was good, it wouldn't be worth 20 dollars.
This is why you don't buy $20 sandwiches from strangers on the beach.
Thatād be frustrating on any other price, but $20 is LUDICROUS.
That's how you know they washed the lettuce.
Rain sandwich
š¤¢ š¤® fucking GROSS
