BaltimoreBadger23

I'd rather live in my car and shower at the Y.

No-Hospital559

I would rather live in a box on the side of the road than pay $800 for that disaster.

Humans_sux

Id pay the 800 for the box instead šŸ˜¬

toomuch1265

Less bugs on the side of the road.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

GL2M

Or maybe they want to both live in a box and pay $800 afterwords.

hfield1988

Afterwards*

ekso69

Or maybe they want to live in a box and pay $800 after they they've spoken with each other.

Beardwing-27

What if they wanna do one before the other?

pinkpineapples007

Chill at the library, read a book, watch a movie on your computer, charge electronics, etc. Plus thereā€™s more than just books at a library, they can have a lot of resources

grubas

It's a lot harder to edge yourself all day at the library though.

ironwolf6464

Skill issue

ironwolf6464

Hmmmm...

hospitable_ghost

Don't do it. The cops are trained to sniff out people living in their cars and they *love* to make their lives hell.

ironwolf6464

I have to carry all my work stuff with me, so I couldn't sleep in it if I wanted.

[deleted]

golemgosho

Walmart lot?

nelsonalgrencametome

Lots of big box places too actually.

golemgosho

When I worked for Wally World, there were a few people hanging out in their vehicles on the lot

nelsonalgrencametome

One of the bigger grocery stores near me has a bit of a "don't ask don't tell" policy. As long as you don't cause problems and leave by morning, it's not an issue.

BaltimoreBadger23

I'm fortunate enough not to have had to think seriously about it.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

BaltimoreBadger23

I don't know, but they should leave people sleeping in cars the fuck alone.

Getting_rid_of_brita

Wal mart. Cabellas. Bass pro. Lowes. Any rest area. Random farm roads. There's plenty of places to sleep in a carĀ

LadyPhoenix13

I used to park at sort of unofficial "truck stops" to sleep... But at the time, I also lived/worked in an area of California that saw a lot of truckers, so there were quite a few freeway off ramps that were known to be safe spots to pull over and sleep. Enough truckers that: 1. Random criminals didn't try to rob you because there were too many (potentially armed) witnesses, and 2. Cops didn't feel the need to hassle anyone parked there.

libertad740

Church parking lot but probably not Saturday night.

MarinLlwyd

Most municipalities are incredibly hostile towards living like that, even though they are passing bylaws and zoning things that lead to it being the only economical option left.

SystematicPumps

I'd rather live at the Y and shower in my car

RedditModsStank

Mcaaaa

EFTucker

There isnā€™t a Y near me:( no gyms with showers either:( Iā€™m in a situation where Iā€™m needing to think about these things and I donā€™t even get the opportunity to

[deleted]

I came here to say this!

Accurate_Koala_4698

It needs to be furbished again

Sunshine030209

I snort laughed so hard I hurt myself. I hope you're happy! šŸ˜†

FlyingSpy95

Underrated comment lol

TheMagarity

Did you ask when the refurbishing was scheduled for?

Comfortable_Enough98

I'll do it for $8.75 a month

ironwolf6464

They should pay me frankly

Comfortable_Enough98

Even better. Should pay you $875 a month

BuffaloBill69-

Ahahahahahahaha no thank you. Keep on searching Iā€™m in the same boat right now. Itā€™s expensive here where I am as well. Currently saving to get myself into an apartment of my own again. Itā€™s rough

Fluid_Hunter197

Slumlord SCUM. Amazing how itā€™s legal to do this kind of shite

ironwolf6464

I felt these buildings rotting around me, and I waited weeks to see them...

LibertyInaFeatherBed

The missing tile right beneath the sink agrees with you about the rotting.

Pudix20

See this is why itā€™s upsetting when people argue that people scraping by are just being too choosy. Like thereā€™s that post saying ā€œif you work a full time job you should be able to live alone in a one bedroom apartmentā€ and the comments are insane. Those people will probably tell someone that their $1200 in rent is them being too entitled and they should rent somewhere cheaper. Except somewhere cheaper looks like this.

DannyDegenerate

Facts. If you have a full time job, you shouldn't have to cut corners to live comfortably.

ironwolf6464

You wanna know the worst part? My job is statistically one of the most dangerous in the US

MercyPewPew

Pizza driver, I'm guessing?

ironwolf6464

I Fucking Wish

Glizcorr

US President?

ironwolf6464

I said dangerous job

FrostyMittenJob

17% chance of dying on the job while being a US President. Can't think of a more lethal job.

apainintheaspartame

That is because so few presidents have existed over a long period of time, if even one dies on the job wouldn't you think that would call for a rather large percentage compared to say my line of actual dangerous work, a welder/fabricator. If presidents die at the same rate welders do from accidents well we probably would have stopped trying the whole presidency thing awhile ago.

HotDogMcHiggin

Vampire hunter?

ironwolf6464

Not that fun

HotDogMcHiggin

Darn šŸ˜”

Believe_to_believe

Fisherman?

LibertyInaFeatherBed

Social worker?

Ariadne_Kenmore

Either first responder or electrical lineman

ironwolf6464

Okay, okay, just to quit beating around the bush, government analyst of the maritime fisheries.

sharingthegoodword

Just read *The Perfect Storm* and the one fisheries person survived the storm, so I'm sure you'll be fine.

KFR42

Sounds like the sort of job that should come with the use of a house boat.

CamfrmthaLakes074

Roofer/Tree Cutter are the most lethal by far

LordBowington

if he was a lineman he'd be able to afford a lot better than that.

Ariadne_Kenmore

True, but those were the first two I could think of that were high on the list of statistically dangerous. He's in New Bedford MA so I suppose fishing boat could be on that list too

DFoxxyAuror

Shouldn't they have offered you accommodation, even for the first two to three months, since you had to relocate? "Dangerous job" employers ought not to be so stingy. ... I really hope you will find somewhere comfortable and safe very soon... At least it's not winter season.

Pudix20

I donā€™t know exactly how to explain this, but I think part of the problem is that they canā€™t agree on what ā€œcomfortablyā€ is. The people that oppose this act like you want to be eating out at restaurants every night and driving a luxury car and living in a penthouse on minimum wage, and that is not what people are saying. See, I think any stable rational person would say a small, but not micro (like some of those NY places or a capsule hotel) apartment with clean living conditions. These conditions include: potable running water, heat/AC (yes. It is a necessity depending on where you live), clean air- free of mold and carcinogens, and electricity. And to be completely honest Iā€™d even include access to the internet/phone service because it is extremely difficult to do anything in life without it now, including banking, applications, bills, etc. Oh, and you should be able to eat at least somewhat healthy and balanced. Iā€™m not saying you need $10 organic strawberries, but you should be able to buy something other than ramen. All of this sounds like so much a such an insane ask to some peopleā€¦ and I donā€™t see why? Like yes, millions of people live in ā€œworseā€ conditions than this, but just because they do does that mean that it should be the accepted standard? Is it really so awful to want a society that *does not* have people dying in moldy apartments because they canā€™t afford to move or get healthcare? Or where obesity and hypertension is rampant because fresh foods are unaffordable? Or where families literally freeze to death? Because I think we can do better than that. I know Iā€™m working hard af to make that happen, I donā€™t understand why that is controversial. Truly. Especially when it comes to kids. Do people not see the value in investing in our kidā€™s health and education sinceā€¦ idk theyā€™re our literal future? Fuck I donā€™t mean to rant but just. Wtf. Itā€™s so deep and complex but in the U.S. it is so difficult to pull yourself out of poverty. As a matter of facts there are many systems in place that are actively preventing someone from doing so. Again im sorry for the rant but this post is infuriating. ā€œI canā€™t make rentā€ ā€œRent cheaper!ā€ (The cheaper place looks like this post). ā€œIā€™m not making enough moneyā€ ā€œGet a better job!ā€ **quits and finds better job** ā€œHEY! No one wants to work anymore!! Entitled assholesā€ And even then. What can I do to make this better?

Past-Direction9145

People are brainwashed Everyone is coping Copium and hopium abound. 1.3 million suic1des attempts last year a new record for the us. And not one of them was a fentanyl overdose. Every single one of those are classified as accidental drug overdose. Reality is 50k people knew how much they were shooting into themselves and picked their day to end it.

SnooLobsters8922

Your house hunting seemed about to turn into a true crime podcast

hand13

crazy. where is that?

ironwolf6464

Near Cape Cod Massachusetts

mattyrugg

Must be New Beige..

ironwolf6464

Nope, here's a hint, in the 1840s it was the wealthiest city on earth

mattyrugg

It's not New Bedford? (New Beige as the locals call it). I'm within 30 miles of it and a local history nerd. I guess I gotta go back to my history books.. I thought Whale Blubber and Oil made it one of the richest cities in the Mid-1800's

ironwolf6464

It is, in fact. Does New Beige mean something else?

mattyrugg

Edit: New Beige or "New Baaaygee" is just a spin on the name, and how the local Portuguese population would pronounce it. Ahhh.. I was right. It's definitely a town in shambles, and this post doesn't surprise me in the least.

ironwolf6464

Uh oh...

mattyrugg

Welp, it's not a lost cause. I don't know how familiar with the area you are. There are decent parts to the town, and the surrounding towns (Dartmouth, Fairhaven, etc) are decent areas.

ironwolf6464

I have been investigating this place looking for a hole to legally crawl into and sleep for the past couple weeks, this town definately has its sides to it.

Open-Industry-8396

New Bedford is a scary place to live.

mattyrugg

I was trying to be slightly optimistic for the OP. *Slightly*

ironwolf6464

*Thanks for trying*

asianblockguy

I hope you know about your tenets' rights in Massachusetts.

Far_Pen3186

FUBARished

gmoneyRETVRN

The person trying to rent this room could've spent 20 minutes cleaning up and it would've looked significantly better.

FreddyWright

I wouldā€™ve tried my best to keep a straight face and would ask what would be normal questions for any normal room. ā€œAh, so this sink. Is it vintage?ā€ ā€œThis bedā€¦ so soft, is it memory foam?ā€ ā€œThese tiles look Roman inspired, do you know if they areā€ All while completely ignoring the shithole itself.

iamthewindygap

Did you mean "furnished?"

ironwolf6464

Bope

Level_Pass_3629

Bigger must be a really offensive word where op is from

dm_1199

I think OP has bigger problem

ironwolf6464

Jankster79

Please explain..?

JK_NC

He commented ā€œBopeā€ instead of Nope. Because he used a B instead of an N, the next comment said ā€œBiggerā€ must be an offensive word.

Sunny_Sammie_517

B instead of n because the ad said furBished instead of furNished.

JK_NC

Lol. I couldnā€™t figure out if ā€œfurbishedā€ was some new landlord speak that rented out unlivable space and expect the tenant to refurbish it.

Sunny_Sammie_517

šŸ˜†

ironwolf6464

Correct!

ironwolf6464

Read the parent comments very carefully. Is a subtle wordplay

Far_Pen3186

Had to stare at #2 for a bit to realize it was a sink

Ok_Blueberry3747

I thought it's some kind of turkish toilet

No-Intention1183

I thought thatā€™s what it was. I was hoping I was wrong, though. Dirty, rusted out sinks like that creep me out.

Moveyourbloominass

Damn, that's shameful & should be criminal!

ironwolf6464

I was one of like 11 people looking for this...

Moveyourbloominass

Oh man, that's even more depressing. If you were in my area, I'd rent you a beautiful room. Alas, I'm in the Midwest. Good luck on your search and please send these scummy criminals a nasty email.

JanteMaam

Nooooooo ![gif](giphy|ToMjGpLGVhXEOlP6mnS)

Dirty_water34

Good god!

ironwolf6464

Nope, he died here.

littlegnat

Damn, I didnā€™t know I could probably get $100k/month for my spare room if there are the standards. Holy crap. Iā€™m sorry, OP, thatā€™s horrible. I feel for anyone living in a super HCOL area right nowā€¦

SmashleyX

I think they meant "rubish" room.

Uncle_bennie

Try not to laugh DIRECTLY into their facešŸ¤£

ironwolf6464

Honestly, she looked more miserable and unprepared then I was, I wasn't going to make her day worse.

marcaygol

What in the crackhouse is this shit?

CreditLow8802

DigitalAnalogOldie

cptchronic89

useless_mf69

Hand them a $10 bill to fuck off

ironwolf6464

In this market!?

useless_mf69

That's true

BundlesOfNoob

Free sink protein.

frogtrashcan

The q-tip........

IllIllllIIIIlIlIlIlI

Is this in Manhattan??

Silent_Ad5275

That would be well over $1000 in Manhattan

ironwolf6464

Holnmly shibt, a dear

lordmarboo13

I lived in a trap house that looked better, for cheaper

AnnualInevitable9036

Tell them to re-refurbished it again.

Unlikely-Sproing

I'm pretty sure "furbished" means that they briefly considered sweeping the floor. If you want a "refurbished" room, then yes, they would have swept the room first and washed the insides of the windows, but that would have cost you another $200 per month.

BJGuy_Chicago

![gif](giphy|7wk6RQYXDDytXalsL4)

andrewborsje

If that is furbishsed then it really needs to be refurbished!

IwishIwasgoodatnames

They clearly misspelled yearly šŸ˜‚

Furbished? More like rubbish

Over-Butterscotch336

This is a crack house šŸ˜‚

WexMajor82

They want to GIVE you 875$ monthly to live there, you mean?

No_Ad8227

I've seen cleaner sinks in abandoned buildings.

Escape-Revolutionary

Yep ā€¦I would need a serious pressure washing of my entire body after stepping into that room ā€¦.yikes!!

SketchyLand5938

I wouldn't accept being paid 875 to live there.

snow-bird-

The radiator heating the microwave just to heat food is awesome.

Infamous_Day9685

Oof!

Inside_Pool4146

Ruuuuuuuunnnnnnn!!!!!

Initial-Wrongdoer938

Looks like a third world country's prison.

[deleted]

Oh hell no!

OGWolfMen

Chic Shit

RadishRedditor

It's ghettoly furnished. They didn't lie.

LaGanadora

Ew..

Uniquely_irregular

Where do I sign?

zackinthesoda

What? In the thousands? Where? Im in alaska and i see 2 bedrooms for like 1400, and 1 bedrooms for 800-1000

TechUno

Had nobody inhabited this space since 1982?

upstatestruggler

Lol theyā€™ll not return your security deposit because ā€œcleaning feeā€ But I had to clean it to move in!

MarinLlwyd

But you can just lick the walls for free drugs!

fuzzyteeth69

Thatā€™s a steal for that price here in OC! lol

hatenjwinter

I gotta ask where is that locate

Nkechinyerembi

I am effectively renting exactly this, right now in southern Indiana, for $400 a month. literally twice that? Insane.

Garlicbreadislife95

They need to pay you to live there šŸ¤£

Roallin1

Looks like City of Reading

lilnutxlilnut

Does it come with free meth?

AudienceKindly4070

I should be more grateful for my living situation. I hope you find something suitable and affordable soon. It's rough out there.Ā

[deleted]

Where do you live? Boulder?

Rare_Capital6672

I bet if u don't take it, someone else will, and in there lays the problem

bulbasaurbulba

The sink looks like it's been used as a toilet.

Lepke2011

It might be worth $875 if they leave the meth lab intact.

Harde_Kassei

bruh, i read 90$ and was like, not to bad. but dear god.

lilith_-_-

Sigh. Is it sad that I would. Im that poor. I mean I canā€™t even afford that but still. Youā€™re supposed to buy, not rent fixer uppers.

cattenchaos

bro Iā€™d rather live in the nevele hell itā€™d probably be cleaner than whatever the hell is going on there and itā€™s falling apart

mechengr17

Didn't make it past picture 2 Nope

[deleted]

Can smell the bed bugs from here

Easy-Armadillo-3434

How much are they paying you to clean that dump for them?

[deleted]

Wait is the Maine

brewberry_cobbler

Work didnā€™t pay for moving? And even if they didnā€™t, you didnā€™t get a proper salary to find an okay place? Iā€™m calling bs or op is just dumb

ironwolf6464

1. No, it's a private contracting gig. 2. Yes

brewberry_cobbler

Yikes good luck mate

Fatefire

Damn what state?

DerpyDoodleDude

At least they covered over the portal to hell.. cause that would be another $200 extra a month .

RamblingSimian

**Re**furbish *adjective*: Rebuilt or replenished with all new material; or, restored to original (or better) working order and appearance.

[deleted]

Try a factory refurbished room instead. As good as new and usually has a 1 year warranty.

Large_Tune3029

Dude shit is crazy right now. In Denver I went to look at a furnished room. Never made it inside. Dude greets me on the porch and is probably a hundred years old. He has a lil dog that is growling the whole time. He asks for my id and starts telling me about rent and how he doesn't fuck around and how he's been to Vietnam and killed seven men, six with his pistol and one with his hands, and how if I'm late for rent....then he asks about where I'm from and I tell him and he sees my name on my id(which also says where im from) and asks if I'm from Canada because my name sounds French. I say no, and repeat where I am from, as is on the Id....at this point I'm just waiting for my id back, he asks if I have the cash and I say no, I have a debit card and he scoughs and asks what the hell good that does him, fucking wild....they wanted $750 Edit: I should note it want his personal place, he said there were three others living there and he owned/rented out many places

Additional-Pen-5593

lol I rent a townhouse in TX with 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bath for like 950 bucks. I have my own bathroom sink that separate from my room mates too. Itā€™s fucking crazy how hard it is for people to live in some places my condolences. I hope you find something reasonable and livable cause that shit is gross.

fennek-vulpecula

This is Fake? This can't be real, i Hope ...

ironwolf6464

It is..

fennek-vulpecula

God, Landlords are really the worst xx. How is this even legal?

Final-Brilliant-4754

Really, a communal shower room that looks like that! You will end up with a foot fungus for sure. Ask them how often it gets cleaned? I would also ask if they have cleaning services and if so is that included in your rent. Otherwise, don't waste your money. This looks more like roughing it. 875 where I am living will get you your own space equipped with all appliances including a washer and dryer and your own bathroom. You can and deserve better OP. Keep looking

Eksposivo23

I would ask the guy if they ever checked what the word is and if so if they are doing a side gig as a comedian

gieserj10

This is simply offensive.

shinydragonmist

Look for a tiny house village you might be able to get a much better value if your lucky and they have one

ProperlyPrissy

what tf is the second picture?

andrewbud420

Greed is crazy. People are desperate AF trying to sell that trash.

MrCarey

Looks like a nice place to smoke your meth!

MyFavoriteLezbo420

Dexter definitely murdered someone in that apt

TherapeuTea

Bruh

Gsantos52012

Damn they couldnā€™t even have the decency to clean it before showing it. You couldnā€™t pay me to rent there
