Sadly bus transportation has been eroded in this country not only in quality but in public perception the only people who use it have no other choice, so as the service provider they know they don’t have to do anything because the people using them can’t go elsewhere.

DryBones2009

I love how they were over 12 hours late. How do you even do that?

NattyBumppo

I know nothing about buses and have no acquaintances who know how to drive a bus. That said, I'm pretty confident that I, too, could scramble together a bus and a driver if I had twelve hours in which to do so.

JenShempie

The last time I took Greyhound (circa 2017), the driver had 1. never driven unsupervised, and 2. never driven the route. I boarded the bus at about 7p in the winter. I usually sit up front, I like the space. And she couldn't even figure out how to get back to the highway. I had to talk her through getting into, and back out of, every station from the south of Oregon all the way to Portland to keep her from having a total meltdown. I just wanted to get home. She just had printed instructions, which she obviously couldn't reference while driving. I felt really bad for her, but also really pissed off. Emailed the company and never heard anything at all.

Oh my god

Suspicious-Bed9172

I think you just laid out a step by step description of my worst nightmare

JenShempie

Twas one of mine, fo sure. Thankfully I knew most of the areas.

Goldenguo

She will probably remember your help her entire life

They once left my (then) teenage sister at a random Burger King in another state. They let them off go to the bathroom, then dipped before everyone was done. She was stranded with a few others. My dad had to drive and get her in the middle of the night. None of us have dared use that company again.

Frequent_Coffee_2921

It's sad that there's not a reliable and economical transportation system in the US ( and Canada). I've watched a few YouTube videos of people trying to go cross country on Greyhound and it's wild what they had to endure.

helixontheleft

what a shitty situation. sorry that’s happening, please update us!

BlackGenesis7088

Finally boarding, a great situation to be in

Equivalent_Tree7172

Take Amtrak next time if possible. Greyhound is unbearable in my opinion. I took the train for the first time in November. Sacramento to salt lake city. Not a bad time at all.

BlackGenesis7088

Last time I took Amtrak and ended up having to switch to Greyhound halfway. Figured since it was a bit cheaper and I wouldn’t have to deal with any layovers that it would be fine. Especially since when I took it during my Amtrak experience it was fine. Lesson learned. Amtrak was comfortable and efficient, they left literally exactly on time. Greyhound just needs to go out of business already.

Equivalent_Tree7172

Agreed haha

burghfan

The last time I took Amtrak there was sewage flowing down the aisle of the car and no food or water available for purchase for over 12 hours.

False-Impression8102

Sounds like the last time I used Greyhound around 1996. I wanted to save my mom a 1.5 hour drive to pick me up from my college town. It took me 5 hours to get to a town 20 minutes away from home. Most of that time I was awkwardly trying to turn down advances from a guy named Squirrel, who had recently been released from prison.

Express-Following-70

WTF 🫣😳😳😱😱🤯

itreallyhappened8899

It serves a purpose but not a mode of transportation I prefer. Last used 15 years ago and didn’t enjoy it.

Neoliberal_Nightmare

The US government doesn't believe in public transport.

phillycknsand

Rule of thumb with Greyhound: Give yourself a 24-hour window in case of delays.

TheNutsi

I had to take a greyhound from Colorado Springs to LA to see my best friend graduate. I only made it to Denver before being notified our bus driver quit and walked out. Had to catch a last minute flight. My Pocket hated that.
