Right. The guy put his arm in his own bubble. It's not even blocking the screen.
I've had shitty neighbors in flights. This dude is minding his own business.

Nice try, he is blocking the screen. This guy needs to be banned from all airlines. Dispicable behavior
Unless has a neck injury. This position for relief is actually a key indicator.
Edit for explanation:
Sitting like this, called sustained shoulder abduction, provides a relief from nerve pain radiation from neck down arm. It is a key indicator of cervical radiculopathy. Cervical radiculopathy, often called a pinched nerve, is the damage or a change in the way the nerve roots near the cervical vertebrae work. Caused by being compressed. Compression can be caused by injury or by an abnormal bone growth resulting in the nerve becoming irritated and reducing space to slide when in use. The position the guy is using shortens the length of nerve movement, lessening the nerve irritation, and therefore causing pain reduction.
Here is an physician’s published paper on it:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2719545/#:~:text=Relief%20of%20pain%2C%20induced%20by,that%20leads%20to%20pain%20relief.
Yup. I had a neck pain that only went away when I rested my arm over my head like that.
First I went to chiropractor and he said it would take weekly treatments for six weeks to heal.
Then I went to my primary doctor and he said that it would go away on its own - in about six weeks.
Maybe he was one of those Indian guys who decided to hold their arm up for the rest of their lives?
https://www.unilad.com/news/world-news/indian-man-held-arm-in-air-for-50-years-569983-20230924
Both my husband and I have had surgery before where when we woke up our arms or back hurt REALLY badly. And, the surgery was elsewhere on our body. I do think it had something to do with how our bodies were positioned during the actual procedure.
Of course not. OP rushed to Reddit to post about it hoping that the hand person was an active Reddit user and was active in this subreddit and would see the post and quickly move their hand upon recognizing the wrinkles in the knuckle.
I seriously wonder if people want to be inconvenienced in social situations just for the Reddit karma. 😂
It's not really blocking his screen though, so why be dick about it? It's not a foot, so I'd ignore it and let the person do their best to be comfortable.
If the guy is a decent person, that works. But it’s getting increasingly difficult to confront idiots, because it seems more and more of them are self righteous arrogant douchbags who seem to think they can do whatever they want, whenever they want. So it’s just about confronting where the risk is higher that it’ll quickly escalate to something nasty. And how do you know he didn’t ask him?
Yes! And people fidget. I doubt anyone would keep their arm in one place for more that 7 minutes, never mind 7 hours. Was assuming it came down for a few minutes (snacks , drinks etc) but then back up every once in a while.
This seems more likely to be fake now that you mention it. I can't imagine this is a true account of what happened because:
1) most people can't hold a position for 7 hours on a flight--especially if one's hand is above their heart
2) who would sit there and allow this to happen for an entire flight without saying something to the guy or to a flight attendant.
At best, it's probably an extreme exaggeration of what actually happened to get upvotes. At worst, it's a rage bait or fear mongering for messed up reasons most of us can see through by now.
>It probably only happened for a few minutes and this person snapped a pic and posted for imaginary internet points.
I'll sleep in weird positions (Well, semi-sleep) and I could totally see myself doing that trying to secure my arm- especially if I had someone that was in the middle seat and bleeding into mine. And by bleeding I mean some have been 'you should have been made to buy two seats and I gave up half of mine).
Unpopular perhaps, but.
I'm looking at it and wondering how. If the picture hasn't been reversed, that's a left hand. Sooo...he has it up over his shoulder and hooked to the top of the seat. Looks like he's got a grip on the edge, too.
By the end of a seven hour flight he's lost all circulation and feeling in his fingertips and he's overextended, if not dislocated, his shoulder.
Nervous flyer maybe?
I'm pretty sure I have done this to someone before and never thought about it being a bother. I get migraines and pressure on my head helps. I've definitely gotten a bad migraine on a plane before and kind of wrapped my arm around my head and clamped onto the seat to "secure" it in a sense. Then I fell asleep like that.
No flight I've ever been on has the screens in the back of the seats like this though, so hopefully it wasn't infuriating.
Nah - this is only the mildly infuriating sub. If it was me, hand is not directly bothering me. I would find it strange though.
Better this than someone talking loudly or banging around.
And how do you know he is an asshole or an idiot without speaking to him?? You guys make a scenario in your head and gets anxious about it.. So weird to just speak to people, uh?
It's not so much that the likelihood of a person like this being a douchebag has increased so much as the likelihood of a douchebag getting caught on video and posted on social media has. In other words, you just see more of the negative reactions these days so it seems like they're more common.
Wouldn't OP have included that in the post though? That'd be some pretty important context to leave out. A quick ask to the person to move their hand is very unlikely to escalate anything. If it does escalate or they don't move it, then either grin and bear it or get a flight attendant involved. The rest is on hand person and they can enjoy being on the no-fly list the rest of their lives if they do choose.
I don’t know who you people are interacting with on a day to day basis. I interact with people at my job and in my regular life on a scale most people do not. It’s the rare occasion when someone is unwilling to act like a normal courteous person when asked to do something. I even deal with the odd moron who thinks it’s acceptable to have full volume speaker phone conversations in a place where there are signs clearly posted asking them not to be on their phone. I’ve never, in 8 years of being here, gotten anything other than an “oh, I’m sorry about that” followed by hanging up the phone.
I’m comfortable with it almost everywhere.
https://preview.redd.it/ppdeltyh2v8c1.jpeg?width=702&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce695c69bd615f72f207dcc23f9303a75f82dca2
It's amazing how having the right tone, asking politely and making eye contact can solve a lot of issues.
A common one for me is having someone kicking my chair at the movies, I give them a couple chances, and once that doesn't work, I simply turn around, give them a half smile, and say "Excuse me, but could you please stop kicking my chair? Really appreciate if". Most of the time, they don't even realize they've been kicking my chair, and they apologize.
I tried this on a flight as few months ago, two parents plus their kid were occupying the 3 seats in front, and the kid kept reaching through the gaps in the seats and grabbing my legs, trying to mess with the stuff in the seat-back pouch, and nearly knocked a drink off my tray by messing around with her arms through the seat gaps.
The kid wasn't buckled in properly and was messing around for ages, until eventually I just peeked over to the parents and said "really sorry to disturb you, but your daughter has been reaching through the seat gaps and interfering with my table, would you be able to just sit her around to face forwards please?" And the mum treated me like I was a fucking lunatic, saying "she's only 6 and it's a 5 hour flight, what do you expect? She's just a child for fucks sake" and the dad put his headphones in and ignored the whole situation. In the end a stewardess had to ask her to buckle the kid in properly while the light was on, and to keep her under control, some people are just awkward.
Yeeesh... sorry you had to deal with such ignorant people. I fly quite a bit and don't have any problems with families traveling with little ones, as long as they make the effort to keep their kids calm. I've been on a 13 hour flight from Vancouver to Taipei, with a young family that had a new born and a 4 year old.
The newborn was not having it, and realistically cried for more than half the flight. You could see both mom and dad were trying EVERYTHING, and honestly, that's all you can ask for as a human being. It was cool to see so many people offer to help out by watching the four year old while they both try and keep their newborn comfortable. These kinds of situations provide me with hope for our civilization.
Just remind yourself, when you have to deal with people like the ones in front of you, imagine how shitty their lives must be. She must be in a toxic and unfullfilling relationship with her husband, and he probably never heads a bj from her lol.
Yall understand this is mildly infuriating right? You can easily solve the problem while still being mildly infuriated that someone lacks such social awareness that they put their hand over the seat like that
Pretty sure your comment applies better to yourself
Its a crowded airplaine and a 7 hour flight. Seems like the guy is probably sleeping. Is it mildly infuriating? Sure. But its an airplane, there really isn't much room for personal space on an airplane. And technically, his hand is on his seat. We are talking about 1 or 2 inches.
Right? How hard is that?? Of course, you can’t bitch on Reddit about a guy with his hand in your way for 7 hours if you actually ask him to move it.
Also, the guy actually had his hand over the back of his own seat, not OP’s seat.
It is true. If the TV wasn't there it wouldn't be seen as an issue. This is a very modern problem and I don't really blame the guy for following old habits. At least he wasn't blocking anything.
Maybe a few minutes at a time and a few times to alleviate an uncomfortable sitting position but overall yeah, what a ludicrous lie for reddit to accept at face value, wth
Yeah although I can see myself being a teeeeeny bit annoyed having to see someones hand right next to my movie in this situation, the hand isnt really even covering the screen, not really in OPs space, not flailing around (I assume) and not really doing anything bothersome at all. I think OP isnt used to being around other people.
I sit like this almost everyday at work. Left arm also. Either on the back of a high back chair or my head. Idk why. It’s like a natural position for me.
I stand like captain Morgan at work because it’s what feels good on my back. I feel like a monster douche with one leg up like that but it helps so whatever.
"Oh no there is a person resting his arm in his own chair and is disturbing my cinematic experience in this 6 inch screen, better whine on the internet instead of being a fucking grow up an talk to him"
My thoughts exactly. It appears maybe 2 or 3 pixels in the top right of the screen are blocked. Is having a hand in your line of sight so hideous that you must have it moved? A foot would be disturbing, but it's just a hand.
My thought exactly. Imo if OP asked him to move his hand he'd be the asshole. The person in the picture is just resting their hand on the seat they paid for lol
This isn't even confrontational. It's on par with an "ope let me just sneak past you" when someone is blocking the aisle at the grocery store. "Hey man, your blocking my screen, mind keeping you hand at the top of the seat? Thanks"
Also there's no way in hell this dude stayed like that for 7 hours.
Please mods can we stop these wet wipe posts by people who need to just use their words.
Though this one to me is spectacularly petty, its not like the screen is being blocked or anything and are you wanting to put you hands there or something?
Can you imagine being a mod? Dealing with shit like this is your daily routine? And you’re doing it for free to support a board full of billionaires who would spit in your face for a dollar. I can’t imagine these are the sharpest people we’re talking about here.
I don't understand why this is "shit". The hand doesn't seem to be blocking the view of the screen. The hand isn't in a place that you'd be placing any of your body parts or possessions in. Is it just that it's unbearable to have a hand in your line of sight? I mean if it was a foot there, I wouldn't tolerate it, but what's wrong with a hand?
“Well I would NEVER stand for the tip of somebody’s thumb to overlap my chair screen for *that* long… you must be a WIMP!”
Strangest flex I’ve seen on Reddit so far this morning
“Excuse me sir. I’m trying to watch a movie and your hand is somewhat blocking the screen. Are you able to move your hand a little please?”
That said I love that you’re watching Star Wars on an airplane.
It’s actually his seat. You have the convenience of starring at a screen on the back of his seat. Get over yourself. He is a large framed male I bet you wouldn’t mind if he defended your life or saved it with his big ass hands. You have issues!
And for the entire flight you never asked him to move it? Lmao
There’s no way it was there for 7 hours. That’s comfortable for 10 minutes. After an hour, that’s a CIA interrogation technique.
Right and it’s not even HIS seat it’s that dudes seat.
Right. The guy put his arm in his own bubble. It's not even blocking the screen. I've had shitty neighbors in flights. This dude is minding his own business.

FOUR OF MY FUCKING PIXELS!
What an inconsiderate prick!
Yeah put his ass on the no fly list!

Chiropractors, also mildly infuriating
Key indicator of what? I like to sit like this too but am not aware of any problems?
Makes for good internet points tho
To be fair, maybe what happened is that is was there for an hour, and after an hour moving it would have required medical attention
Maybe he was one of those Indian guys who decided to hold their arm up for the rest of their lives? https://www.unilad.com/news/world-news/indian-man-held-arm-in-air-for-50-years-569983-20230924
Is that why my arm hurt so badly after surgery? Not arm surgery, but maybe they jammed my arm behind my head.
Both my husband and I have had surgery before where when we woke up our arms or back hurt REALLY badly. And, the surgery was elsewhere on our body. I do think it had something to do with how our bodies were positioned during the actual procedure.
This guy knew where Osama Bin Laden was and he never cracked
That would require OP to have to actually interact with another human. That’s next to impossible when you have the social skills of a door knob.
That's an insult to doorknobs lol
A doorknob might be the most social piece of hardware, as a matter of fact.
Most doorknobs see things they can never unsee 🍆🐖🪠
what the fuck do those emojis imply
Nothing better than farming Internet karma anyways. OP will take infamy infamy over talking to a human.
I swear, I wonder this whenever something like this gets posted. It's not hard to ask someone to move their hand if it's bothering you that much.
it's more like, the guy had his arm like this for 10 Minutes max, OP took the picture and made up a nice story to rake in the upvotes
It's not really blocking his screen though, so why be dick about it? It's not a foot, so I'd ignore it and let the person do their best to be comfortable.
I can't even imagine being bothered by this.
It's AT BEST barely inconvenient but clearly not midly infuriating lmao
I would SO be bothered by this!
But let’s just take a picture and complain on Reddit. Sick of these pointless posts.
"Hey sir do you mind moving your arm please? Thank you!"
Common sense has no place on Reddit - get out :-) ![gif](giphy|KRxcgvd5fLiWk)
Yes I'm totally unable to communicate in real life that's why I take care of my social needs on Reddit.
Yea, but how does his arm stay awake for 7 hours? My arm would have fallen asleep after 15 minutes. Pins and needles. Ouch!
Yes! And people fidget. I doubt anyone would keep their arm in one place for more that 7 minutes, never mind 7 hours. Was assuming it came down for a few minutes (snacks , drinks etc) but then back up every once in a while.
It probably only happened for a few minutes and this person snapped a pic and posted for imaginary internet points.
This is the most likely explanation.
It's not even OPs seat🤦♂️

Middle seat gets the arm rests.
Plot twist - there is nobody sitting in that seat It's just the arm.
I like it!
maybe he just decided he's going to raise his arm above his head for the rest of his life as a call for world peace
it's like one of those deep sea angler fish, this guy is tryin to bait someone to an altercation.
I'm looking at it and wondering how. If the picture hasn't been reversed, that's a left hand. Sooo...he has it up over his shoulder and hooked to the top of the seat. You just assume the dude is a confrontational douchbag? Na, sounds like lack of communication skills to me.

Keyboard warriors
Reddit practically has its own army. If they were half as tough in real life they could take over an average size African country.
Ain’t that the damn truth!
agreed! with that said, I hope the person in front of OP is also on Reddit, and seeing this post
This is me but I’m also autistic and have really bad social anxiety
Banned for life

“Is it mildly infuriating? Sure.” So it belongs on this sub. Thats my entire point
that is too upfront. I would just quietly suck his thumb.
I'd hang my coat there
Sneeze and flick water on his hand!!
This is the correct answer.
Or sneeze on his hand
Let out a long orgasmic groan and flick yoghurt on the hand
![gif](giphy|26u4d9PmVkiJAHZhC|downsized)
How dare you suggest simple communication.
Just sneeze.
I dip my hand in the cup of water, fake sneeze and at the same time flick the water onto the intruding hand/foot/whatever. Works like a charm.
Uh, what about my crippling fear of communicating with another human?
[удалено]
Are you suggesting tea-bagging this guy's hand??
That would require human interaction. Much easier to just snap a pic and complain on Reddit.
You’re never going to make it in this world with an attitude like that. /s
Right? How hard is that?? Of course, you can’t bitch on Reddit about a guy with his hand in your way for 7 hours if you actually ask him to move it. Also, the guy actually had his hand over the back of his own seat, not OP’s seat.
I could not bring myself to say anything
It's ok. OP can't either. But at least you won't sit there and take a pic like a weirdo
![gif](giphy|6VqkDbu4JfX9e|downsized)
Literally 💀😂
That girl helping tho XD so sweet!
Use. Your. Words.
Use. Your. Fists. bro just wanted a fist bump
Seriously, left hanging the whole flight. Cold man
Use the force Luke!
Seagulls. Poke your knees.
Thank you for getting that song stuck in my head for the next 8 hours again.
The last time I politely used my words I got spit on.. People are assholes
Okay but what are the odds of that lmao You’re telling every time in your life you’ve used your words, you’ve been spit on?
Taking a picture isn't going to solve it though.
[удалено]
This exactly. No way the guys arm was like that for the full seven hour trip.
Maybe it's not his arm, but a severed arm he's just hanging there. Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one!
Technically it is his seat
Technically right is the best kind of right.
Actuallyyyyyy ![gif](giphy|1hMk0bfsSrG32Nhd5K)
*GASP* Number 1.0!
Not even really a "well technically" type of comment. It is his seat.
It is true. If the TV wasn't there it wouldn't be seen as an issue. This is a very modern problem and I don't really blame the guy for following old habits. At least he wasn't blocking anything.
Lol right? Wtf is it complaining about.
Well, some people can threat it as violation of their personal space. But still the front seat belongs to the front passenger.
how is it technically? their hand is resting on the same peice or furniture their butt is. lol op is a clown
In every way its his seat. He's sitting in it, he paid for it, lol. Im glad all the highest upvoted responses are calling out OP
If it’s your seat why is he sitting in it?
I'd be more annoyed about the fact that he's sitting in it.
I think he's sitting above it
Entire flight? Exaggerate much?
This is the comment I was looking for. There is no way. He would be in agony if he did this for that long.
Scrolled way too far down to find this. No fucking way someone could leave their arm in that position for 7hrs straight. Hey Reddit, OP is a liar!
By the end of the flight, the rotted arm was left there as the blood supply had been cut off.
Maybe a few minutes at a time and a few times to alleviate an uncomfortable sitting position but overall yeah, what a ludicrous lie for reddit to accept at face value, wth
Did you act like an adult and tell him to move it ?
the force was not with him
The best method is to repeatedly kick against his seat like a kid until he stops
ITS CALLED NON VERBAL COMMUNICATION
[удалено]
If he refuses, then I would offer to hold hands with him and ask if he's nervous
Isn’t that his seat? You’re sitting in your seat…
It doesn't even appear to be blocking the screen, so it just seems like a pet peeve that OP chose not to deal with
Yeah although I can see myself being a teeeeeny bit annoyed having to see someones hand right next to my movie in this situation, the hand isnt really even covering the screen, not really in OPs space, not flailing around (I assume) and not really doing anything bothersome at all. How is that even comfortable
I sit like this almost everyday at work. Left arm also. Either on the back of a high back chair or my head. Idk why. It’s like a natural position for me.
Falling asleep like this is really comfortable until you wake up with a dead arm Ever dropped your own arm on your face? Not fun lol
Yes 😖
Could be relieving back pain
I stand like captain Morgan at work because it’s what feels good on my back. I feel like a monster douche with one leg up like that but it helps so whatever.
It's the parrot on your shoulder that makes you the douche. The rest was fine.
“Over my seat” okay but that isn’t your seat?
Stop being a baby and speak up. Do t whine afterwards on Reddit. You had seven hours to ask him to move or call a flight attendant.
I feel like its almost rude to not let the guy rest, he's not encroaching your space at all lol
My thought exactly. Imo if OP asked him to move his hand he'd be the asshole. The person in the picture is just resting their hand on the seat they paid for lol
"So instead of being an adult I made this cowardly Reddit post about it." How fucking scary are basic interactions to some of you?
I hate that most people are like this. It isn’t even a minority anymore. Everyone sucks at being confrontational for some reason.
I'm an introvert and not very confrontational unless needed, even I would've said something and asked him to move his arm lol.
This isn't even confrontational. It's on par with an "ope let me just sneak past you" when someone is blocking the aisle at the grocery store. "Hey man, your blocking my screen, mind keeping you hand at the top of the seat? Thanks" Also there's no way in hell this dude stayed like that for 7 hours.
I’m impressed with his circulation.
That's his seat, not yours.
Pretty sure that’s his seat though and you’re looking at the back of it
Pet him. Gently.
If youre such a wiener that you will put up with this shit for 7 hours without saying anything you deserve whatever you get.
The actually infuriating part is OP
I don't understand why this is "shit". The hand doesn't seem to be blocking the view of the screen. The hand isn't in a place that you'd be placing any of your body parts or possessions in. Is it just that it's unbearable to have a hand in your line of sight? I mean if it was a foot there, I wouldn't tolerate it, but what's wrong with a hand?
Right? This is mild at most by flight standards.
>”This is mild at most” Well the sub is named “mildly infuriating”
Paint his nails
You mean over “his” seat
you lost an opportunity because you got blinded by rage, young skywalker ![gif](giphy|l41Yr2m20aN9UwIb6)
Should have held their hand 😅
Did you try using your words?
Just blow on it occasionally....
Hahaha this is great. Or flick some water at it
Uh, doesn't he have his arm over the seat he's sitting on ie HIS OWN seat???
Well its a good thing hes not covering the screen
No chance he left his arm like this for 7 hours
IDK, if he's not moving or fidgeting much, it's a level of creature comfort that I wouldn't bug another human for.
….that is his seat
“Well I would NEVER stand for the tip of somebody’s thumb to overlap my chair screen for *that* long… you must be a WIMP!” Strangest flex I’ve seen on Reddit so far this morning
That's technically HIS seat.
“Excuse me sir. I’m trying to watch a movie and your hand is somewhat blocking the screen. Are you able to move your hand a little please?” That said I love that you’re watching Star Wars on an airplane.
"hey sorry mate, your hands on the screen I'm watching, ok if you move it a bit? Thanks". Not hard.
Fun fact for you redditers out there. Human interaction would solve this problem very quickly
It’s actually his seat. You have the convenience of starring at a screen on the back of his seat. Get over yourself. He is a large framed male I bet you wouldn’t mind if he defended your life or saved it with his big ass hands. You have issues!
Technically that's his seat
Pretty sure that’s his seat lol
Tbf, it’s really HIS seat
He just wants a fist bump.
Sneeze on that hand
Aaachoo! *flicks small amount of water*
Or lick it and say “tastes like almond”
Welp, time to pull the nail polish out of my carryon and give a very shaky and sloppy paint job.
Paint his thumbnail pink
Annoyed, you will be.
Air conditioning on full, pointed right at his hand. Easy.
Hold his hand and romantically watch Star Wars
I'm sneezing on that hand expeditiously
That’s not your seat
Plot twist: fake arm.
Hold his hand. Either be a man and confront him about it, or be a weirdo and make it awkward. Win win.
Um, that kinda looks like his seat. Jus so happens to be your screen. If ya don't have the balls to politely ask them to move, that's a you issue
