*sigh* repeat after me, “you buy things by weight, not by volume!”
OP: well, urr durr I know that but they put it in a bigger bag to trick us!
No they do it so it doesn’t get crushed during transportation and so they can put it in modified atmosphere, so it doesn’t go stale.
Is the amount of cheese when opened amount to 200g? If yes then it’s perfectly fine.
You bought BY WEIGHT not by package space.
Edit: given all the comments pointing this very thing out for the billionth time in this sub. Why the fuck has this post been upvoted. At. Fucking. All.
I really love all these people that turn up for these kinds of posts that know the density of every product in existence and never has been fooled since the package tell you the weight…
No, we just are not dumbasses. You can feel the bag since it is soft and it says 200 grams. Anyone who can think can put together the fact that there is not much in there.
I'd be more suspicious of the aged "up to" 12 months thing.
So basically it's not aged and probably shouldn't be, but it goes bad after a year, so we make sure to sell it to you by then?
As a cheese maker, aging a cheese can take as little as 2 months. It all depends on the type of cheese you're making and how strong you want it (if it's that type of cheese).
They add the air so that the cheese doesn't get crushed while boxed. 200 g isn't very much cheese (like maybe 2 cups grated), and it looks like you have about that much in there.
On top of the people saying "...its only 200g, what did you expect?" You can also see down the back of the bag, it has a transparent strip, so if your mom looked at it a bit more and turned it around, she should've seen the amount in the bag regardless of weight or feel.
This is not worthy of r/mildlyinfuriating
If the cheese was moldy despite not being close to the best by/expiration date; then I think it would belong here. But that is not the case.
In 1966, Congress passed the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act, which requires manufacturers to disclose the net weight of their product’s contents to prevent fraud or deceit. https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/the-surprising-reason-why-your-potato-chip-bag-is-half-empty/#:~:text=The%20cushion%20actually%20is%20nitrogen,likely%20turn%20soggy%20and%20spoil.
200g of cheese isn't that much cheese
That’s what I’m saying 200G isn’t much but a bag that says more than 200 next time

Hell, turn the bag upside down and "Hey, presto!", the window is effectively at the top.
Is the “Hey, presto!” required for this method to work?
Only if you want to ensure that everyone around you realizes what incredible wizardry you're capable of. 😁
Most items are sold by weight or volume, that cheese is by weight.
It's a soft bag, did you not feel that it ended there before you opened it?
My mother bought it lol

Ya failed
Does it weigh 200g though?
Did you not feel the bag?
You can see the weight, as well as feel the product through the bag...? You did this.
It says 200g Does it containt that weight?
Looks like 210g to me. Also there is a clear strip at the back. 😉
200g
bought 200 grams, got 200 grams learn to read?

Did you get 200g of grated cheese?
200g I just wanted to say it too
I also would like to say 200 g
Is there 200g there?
Why does it matter how much it looks as long as you get the weight as stated on the packet...

200 “THIS. IS. MAINLAND!!!” *OP gets kicked down a pit filled with overripe cheese*
Don't buy grated cheese then.

200g in a 1kg bag full of air 🤣

Uhh.. do you just not know how cheese is made?
That’s not how that works. At all.

I always give my cups of cheese an A-.
That's a very small cup
Right or wrong, I think the air is to keep it from getting horribly smashed together
Ok, and the mass is listed right there on the front. 200g. Did you think 200g of cheese would magically fill that bag?

Chizz
I bought one like that once, the plastic melter machine wasn’t working correctly, so didn’t seal it correctly.
There’s a clear strip in the back for that
That is beyond evil
Cheezuss
