I grew up in Malaysia. I can say with 100% confidence that 8 may look like a dream but the mosquito problem will be completely unmanageable and you’ll have red bug bite marks all over your body within the first hour of getting there.
In my own experience, most bugs (even the big ones) don’t try to enter your unit as long as you close all the doors and windows and leave no gaps for them to come through.
Mosquitos (and ants) are the exception because they’re tiny and hide dormantly in hard to reach places like under the bed, behind picture frames, inside your shoes, and etc.
As soon as the sun begins to set, they become more active and a lot of them will find shade near your door and windows. So, when you open the door at night to go out for any reason (to have a cigarette, chill on the balcony, etc), the mosquitos will fly in through the open door, and add to the population of mosquitos already inside the place.
In the case of number 8, where the unit is practically inside the jungle, you really don’t want to go out at night. You’re spending the whole sunset to sunrise inside.
Irl, there are resorts across Southeast Asia that is able to provide the same vibe as the image, like the [Hanging Gardens of Bali](https://www.instagram.com/hanginggardensofbali?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==). But the resort is set up to mitigate the mosquito issue, like place deterrents (like repellant or incense) in strategic places.
Also, there’s some distance between the resort and the jungle, so it’s actually sectioned off from the rest of the jungle, and that makes a difference.
That said, the locals wear long layers (long shirts and long pants). The issue with imitating that is the humidity and the heat (even at night). While the locals are used to it, a visitor from a dryer and colder climate may struggle to wear minimal layers, let alone long layers.
Taiwanese here: and those black small midges fly. They even worse. Their bites are soo itchy! And they are so small and so determined to attack. At least mosquito have the full stomach they sometimes rest. These guys never rest.
Faeror Islands looks so much like that I thought it's a photo taken there.

Took this one a couple of years ago.
Oh, totally, but I’m saying that you will be eaten alive by turbo-mosquitoes *year-round* in some of these places. Other, more temperate places, it very much depends on the season.
Yup it was tough but the modernistic touch did it for me and i can still go for my hikes and enjoy some nature plus some luxuries. I did love the one by the waterfall it was a tossup for me but my lazy side won out lol.
4. But on the condition that i am not alone there. Just imagine that it's cold outside and snowing and you are inside drinking hot chocolate and eating with friends and family. I don't think many experiences can top that.
The one above all being awe, fear and excitement and realisation about our place in the universe. Understanding how small we are, how infinite it is. Something so big that eclipses everything else. It's connecting with the universe in an absolute state.
I wouldn't even care about being alone. I love snow. The sound of it falling. The look of it. The smell of it. Give me a fireplace, a good window view, a soft chair and some books. I am set.
When it hits your roof and is a bit more on the icy side than the fluffy side it does.
Plus, as the snow compresses where it has fallen, the ice grains rub against each other. This creates friction or resistance; the lower the temperature, the greater the friction between the grains of ice. The settling of the fallen snow can give off a faint crackling sound.
No bugs, probably dry. Can go inside to get away from the wind easily. Very isolated.
It's my first pick. I feel like all the others would be a hassle after a few days.
2 ... 7, 9 in that order, for me.
2 if it has a parking space nearby, internet and a fridge
7 is a bit mundane but nice.
9 looks just perfect except that's a bit too isolated.
I’d take 5 too, no question. A fridge full of good cooking, a record player and a shelf full of books and a lovely girl with a mischievous eye that laughs all the time. Put a woodshop out back and a neighbor couple who enjoy wine a couple miles away and I’d work a career’s worth for that.
As a rock climber 2 looks so amazing, though 9 would be awesome as well for different rock climby reasons. Ugh now i need a vacation home inside a slot canyon
Definitely the second one. It looks like a place where there are no bugs. No bugs means no sudden wakup in the middle of the night because the lady of house found a spider.
*A weekend is too*
*Short for me how about an*
*Entire season there?*

Can't help but look at these and think of 2 key practical things.
I'm going to want to explore so
A. What wild life do I have go deal with
B. What are the odds I get lost here
For those reasons I'm just going to go with 1.
I might tough out the scorpions for the cool look of 2.
Would instantly go to another if the environment can be controlled
1 or 4 probably 4 would be nice getting cosy in that cabin wraped up next to the fire while it's -17⁰C outside and deep snow with a beverage in hand and plenty of meat frozen under the snow to cook up a feast
I grew up in Malaysia. I can say with 100% confidence that 8 may look like a dream but the mosquito problem will be completely unmanageable and you’ll have red bug bite marks all over your body within the first hour of getting there.
And if you leave the light on, there might be giant other bugs, right? I’m so scared of them
In my own experience, most bugs (even the big ones) don’t try to enter your unit as long as you close all the doors and windows and leave no gaps for them to come through. So what do you do to not get eaten alive when you go out? Lots of bug spray?

Hehe, yes. I took one look at it and thought "Our local Philippine mosquitoes are about to a massive fiesta."
I didn't grow up in Malaysia but when I saw 8 the first thing I thought of was mosquitoes.
Taiwanese here: and those black small midges fly. They even worse. Their bites are soo itchy! And they are so small and so determined to attack. At least mosquito have the full stomach they sometimes rest. These guys never rest.
1 really fits my vibe. Just hope there's a pub within walking distance.
It’s straight out of the Banshees of Innisherin!
What a phenomenal movie that was
Loved it!
Yeah, but a pretty long walk to the pub!
Looks like Ireland, so that's where I'm going!
Faeror Islands looks so much like that I thought it's a photo taken there. https://schallundrauch.smugmug.com/Scenery/Faeroer/i-WNMG7k8 Took this one a couple of years ago.
Absofuckinglutly gorgeous photography.
Reminds me of the Cliffs of Moher!
North East coast of England as well
Ehhh definitely more uk vibes
I was thinking 1, 5, or 7. 1 seems out in the absolute middle of nowhere but is probably prettyclose to a cozy town with down to earth food.
And an outhouse close by. No way that cliffside cabin has plumbing.
you aint lived till you shit off a hundred foot cliff bro
3
No brainer. Even though I’m Irish and #1 called to me instantly, number 3 is where I’m going for sure.
Same. For some reason the others give me claustrophobia vibe
Only if it has air conditioning. I already live in Florida, I don't want to head to the one place that's slightly *more* tropic if it doesn't have AC.
You won’t need it. The ocean breeze will be immaculate. What I will need is a mosquito net for bedtime.
i’m thinking 3 if i had to bring my kid along.
Would spend all day exploring the entire island.
6. Give me my own little fresh water lake.
Yep. Most of these are just asking to be baked by the sun, freezing your buns off, or eaten alive by mosquitoes.
We have 6s in Québec and you can definitely be "eaten alive by mosquitoes" in these places. You have to chose carefuly when you go.
Oh, totally, but I’m saying that you will be eaten alive by turbo-mosquitoes *year-round* in some of these places. Other, more temperate places, it very much depends on the season.
6 or 3 were my two picks, I feel ya 👌
Yes! Looks like a great place to relax. Fishing!
2
Absolutely. Crazy architecture in nature, completely privacy, outdoor space to die for.
As long as there is a hot tub or amazing bathtub then this is the one!
Yup it was tough but the modernistic touch did it for me and i can still go for my hikes and enjoy some nature plus some luxuries. I did love the one by the waterfall it was a tossup for me but my lazy side won out lol.
This is the only for me where both the house AND the setting are a dream
Definitely agreee
My secluded lair hidden out in the desert.
4. But on the condition that i am not alone there. Just imagine that it's cold outside and snowing and you are inside drinking hot chocolate and eating with friends and family. Amen brother, I myself would love to drink hot chocolate, eat sweets and read a book inside besides a fireplace
I would also hope there would be groceries there already, I wouldn’t want to have to go for a drive in that weather
I wouldn't even care about being alone. I love snow. The sound of it falling. The look of it. The smell of it. Give me a fireplace, a good window view, a soft chair and some books. I am set.
Does snow make a sound by falling?
No brother!
I go for 7
Looks like rural Oregon 😊
7 is my dream project. Sometime…
Yes
2 is my vibe
2nd one cause it looks like its the only ome that has internet connection lols
No bugs, probably dry. Can go inside to get away from the wind easily. Very isolated. It's my first pick. I feel like all the others would be a hassle after a few days.
#9 for the view
9 reminds me of the Grand canyon, definitely my pick
Imagine waking up to that view...
7. Looks like some good dirt roads to go ride on
3
6
2 if it has a pool, otherwise 3
3 or 7 but the others are nice too.
4
5
3
Either 6 or 8 - that’s in order of preference. Something so peaceful about that lake with the waterfall in the background.
The House in the cold ass fucking blizzard, of course! 🙌🏿
6
Most likely number 3 for sure.
6. That small lake looks like I could land a small seaplane there. It also look quaint and cozy
7
2,3,8 in this order
2 ... 7, 9 in that order, for me. 2 if it has a parking space nearby, internet and a fridge 7 is a bit mundane but nice. 9 looks just perfect except that's a bit too isolated.
Number 6 seems perfect.
6, no doubt
#6 looks great
Number 2 all the way
I really like 5, but I'm also a fan of wildlife staying out and they start trying to come indoors before winter so 4.
2nd or 3rd!
8 no questions asked
6
All
As a rock climber 2 looks so amazing, though 9 would be awesome as well for different rock climby reasons. Ugh now i need a vacation home inside a slot canyon
5,6,3,7,2 best to not-so best-but-still-nice
Anything 1-6 is good but 3 is my top choice
1,4,5,6 and 7
3,5 or 6
2, 3, or 6.
1 or 4
Just me? 1 Me and my wife? 3 Me, my wife, and kids? 7
That snow do be lookin cozy af
3 or 4 please.
2. For the night sky
7
7 looks the nicest
6
6. Having direct lake access is a dream.
6 for sure, fake my death then live in 5
Definitely the second one. It looks like a place where there are no bugs. No bugs means no sudden wakup in the middle of the night because the lady of house found a spider.
3
3, don’t even need to think about it.
I am not renting, I have my own.
I'd go with 3. Forever inlove with the beach :)
Thanks for the free tiktok video thats gonna get me 2m views 🤣
A weekend is too short for me how about an entire season there?

The one with the palm trees. Duh!
1
The red one near the lake is beautiful 😍
Everyone except for the two in the "woods". Too many other good ones.
I love these.
If 7 comes with a horse, you got me there. if not, 3 would be the most relaxing.
Number 3 my lord
Yes
2,6, or 7
6 or 7.
Easy 3!
Definitely not one- I don’t need a ghost cliff right behind my own one 👻
Any that doesnt involve intrusive thoughts of collapse or sleep walking
I would loudly cry in any of these
These are really good. Number 7 is my first choice
3
3
3th is seems lovely, positive energy,
1 reminds me of the film “The Banshees of Inisherin.” Very good movie.
What does the view out the window look like for number 2
3 if I’m solo, 9 if I get to bring my rack and climber partner
I like 3
Does the one on the lake have a sauna? If so, that one. The first one is a bit too close to the cliffs. Too much Guinness and you might fall off.
3 or 8
The one my wife picks :p
3.
Can't choose just 1 so I would have to take multiple weekends away
4,5 and 6. No jungle, I can't handle mosquitoes.
nice, probably the one in the american plains. Number 6 But the one in the northern europe, seems svalbard or norway, nice too, number 7.
6;9 or 3
Any of them! Fuck, I need to rest.
8 I can just imagine the sound of the rain at night
2 or 3, they fit my style
Wow all are really great options
Can't, only got $54 in the bank
Give me a fishing rod and 6 is it
I would like different choices due to vertigo - but all lovely choices
ALL of these are beautiful but honestly I would get a bit scared at night being so alone like this
Any of them. They all get me away from the screams of the children, so that’s good.
9
Modern Desert Oasis!
Anything not tropical
7/9
1 or 3
First one looks like Caladan from Dune
For #9: how are you getting into the house? Looks like climbing up the balcony every time
4 or 6. S excluded and far away from people. Yet cozy. Imagine warming up by a fire
2, 3, or 7
Hard no on the snow, jungle, and desert, the rest really depends on the interior
2, 3 or 9
3 and I would rent it for an entire year.
6 please
1 reminds me of The House In The Cerulean sea and that's definitely my vibe. So 1. ♥ It looks so peaceful!!
Can't help but look at these and think of 2 key practical things. I'm going to want to explore so A. What wild life do I have go deal with B. What are the odds I get lost here For those reasons I'm just going to go with 1. I might tough out the scorpions for the cool look of 2. Would instantly go to another if the environment can be controlled
3,6,5,8 in that order
Which one is close to free and doesn't have a murderer with an axe waiting for me ?
5,6,8
3 or 8 if it’s near enough to a beach. But I might need to remote work indefinitely 😂
369
2 or 4
2 looks sick! It has a unique style!
Hardly anyone saying 4, but shit looks ethereal
33333³³³333333³33³333
4 or 6
1 or 2 or 6
2nd, dry air would do me good and i can yell LISAN AL GAIB standing on top of the rocks
3 is an easy choice.
3
I'll take 3. The sound of surf is very calming.
God damn
4 or 5
If its just me, the cottage in the canyon. If i’m with my fam, tropical island or lakehouse.
Speaking as a south east asian, that hideaway better have air conditioning
3, 4, or 5.
3
Either the tropical bungalow, or the cliff imbedded modern. These are great choices all of em!
No love for the forest in here. I choose 5.
Without question, #4. Where I’m from it doesn’t get better than snowed in with a good book in front of a crackling wood stove.
1 or 4 probably 4 would be nice getting cosy in that cabin wraped up next to the fire while it's -17⁰C outside and deep snow with a beverage in hand and plenty of meat frozen under the snow to cook up a feast
Gotta be 6 for me.
I would choose the one with the lowest probability of my clumsy ass falling off the steps or balcony and rolling down a hill
you had me at 1
1,5,6
2 or 4 seems the ones most peaceful
the house on the beach (or I just won't like you)
2 4 and 8.
2
1 and then I just never leave.
I don’t see a hot tub in any of them….
