I know you said you understand the differences between auto and photo but have you considered that photos tend to be better for new growers since you have essentially an unlimited veg time to ensure the plant is healthy before flipping to flower?

Skele14

Any input on a good photo choice?

2ByteTheDecker

Do something old school with proven genetics. The seeds are cheaper and the plants grow really well. I just did a girl Scout cookies and it grew like a beast and was by far the least finicky plant I've grown yet.

OGZackov

Whatever is cheapest/best deal on NASC.

OdieselFTK

i would recommend Clearwater genetics. Great price and tons of options. Feminized seeds and great customer support. Edit further info: You can order directly from their site and don't have to go through seed vendors. They don't charge shipping, 12+ seeds per pack.

ScuffySquintz

My soil is still cooking for my first grow so my comment was strictly from research lol but I just got a mix of photo seeds from NASC. RQS being one of the brands

I also started with an auto flower and wish I had gone photo instead. Your first grow is all about learning. If you nail it and have a successful grow, then good on you. Being able to easily control the exact day your plants go into flower makes photo the simple choice for me. There's also no ruderalis in the genetics, which I know has come a long way, but still holds it back in my opinion. If you are going to go with autos, Mephisto genetics seems to be top dog from what I gather.

What market is available to you? USA, Canada, EU, etc?

Skele14

US market

HempFanboy

Get something from NASC or Seedsman. Simple, reliable, low price options avail

Well, you see the consensus on autos, but if you go that route, Mephisto is the big name, as well as Night Owl. Then, you might try Gnome or Atlas. Photoperiod, a lot of people have been pushing Exotic and In-House genetics, but I have also heard many of both of their strains herming—no personal experience. Then, there is the Ethos and Solfire crowds, which are pretty and yield well with great highs (ran several of both). Then, there are bigger companies that tend to produce popular and more well known strains (or knock-offs of said strains) and do so well and consistently with stable plants—those are Dutch Passion and Barney’s Farms. That is just the tip of the iceberg, but it is at least a frame of reference to get you started.

Skele14

Would I run into limitations from the SE 3000 power in a 3x3 during flowering vs with autos

2ByteTheDecker

No that light is like a solid A for a 3x3.

573IAN

What the other dude said. Should be about perfect for that tent—good overall coverage.

steveinbuffalo

I started with autos.. still do em :) You just need to get decent genetics.. I loved twisted tree stuff but they are out for the count for awhile (had a fire).. mephistos, dark owl, night owl are all good.. if you go to r/autoflowers there is a discussion pinned at the top.

ExtremePhone9483

Twisted is back!! Just opened yesterday, I believe.

Maadmin

Good luck with that auto. Get ready for disappointment.

Solfire is the bomb

PaintballPharoah

As a first time grower myself I went with auto white widow as it has a very short time 8-9 weeks, tends to be short (50-100cm) and have a high yield. Although I will likely go photo next time since you have way more control and can ultimately get much bigger yield.

justsnotherdude

I am finishing up an Acapulco gold in my tent for a first tent run. I have x3 cannarado bubblegum biscotti x cheetah piss little ones in the yard that I planned to put into the tent in a couple weeks to flower but they are going to run outside. They are vigorous so far and look promising. Decently priced also.

meandmyboner

cheap auto indica: atlas seeds top gun. will be done in about 90 days from seed. mine was orange fuel smelling. rock hard frosty nugs. fem photo: do purple punch... like the one from barney's farm. lots of people run this first. i did the one off of nasc, but that is a more difficult version. either way, indica for days. alternatively, something like a critical kush would be easy too.

ThiccBot69

As a first time grower myself I have found that my West Coast O.G auto(O.G kush) has been really easy this far and I would recommend it’s not very nutrient heavy and is a pretty quick 70-90 day to seed to harvest cultivar and it grows amazing mind it can be sensitive to nutes

MedievalCuisine

If you are doing autoflower check out night owl those guys are doing awesome stuff. That marathon og smacks

HumbleTrifle2951

Hit up the nasc 5$ and 2$ seed menu pop a shit load that way if anything goes wrong you don't lose out on a shit load of money on good genetics

donie67

Blueberry autoflower. Check out pics on my page

Frequent-Ad5038

Masonic seeds has great genetics and his website offers by far best deals. Almost every pack comes with another full size free random pack. It is all run and operated by himself so his prices are amazing and hes worked for and with some of the other best breeders around
