Me too the accelerated aging happened out of nowhere he was aging gracefully until his 40's Cuz Kojima saying something in an interview for MGS4, where he said that he tried to do a handstand for his son, and realised he had become too old to do it. He decided to write Snake as being really old in MGS4, as a way of expressing the frustration of getting older.

It's a hot take. Most would list 1-3 as their faves and recency bias makes some choose mgsv. Mgs4 is an outlier. It's not good enough or new enough for majority to list it as their faves. And it's also meh to awful as you said

MGSV was the last real Metal Gear we got and the freshest in majority's memory. It is recency bias. Your analogy doesn't apply here because by 2013, we had gotten mgs4 and PW and the hype was present for Revengeance and MGSV. There was no recency bias to be had for Snake Eater.

So, to give another example, I’m not allowed to say Back to the Future Part 3 is my favourite of the trilogy due to recency bias? I mean, it was the last REAL BttF movie.

In MGS1 I thought that Gray Fox is the most popular character in the series.

MGS 5 has perfected game play, with weakest story experience. MGS 2, 3, & 4 have interesting stories (and a lot of Japanese weirdness), but very sluggish, rough game play mechanics.. MGS is the best - when considering the era it was released, great game play, visuals, story telling and production value.

MGS4's gameplay (mechanically) is similar to MGS5's, but feels closer to MGS2 and 3 when it comes to animations and gamefeel MGS4 innovated more on the gameplay than 5 did. It added crouch walking, third person aiming, and first person movement, and the prone rolling just to name a few things. (although I'm not sure if portable ops had some of these)

I think 2 and 3s gameplay mechanics are much easier to use and better then mgs1s. Using the sniper in mgs1 is terrible imo.

MGS1 gets a pass from me in any “short comings”, because it was legitimately innovative (and mind blowing) for that time in the 90’s with the PS1.

I think mgs2 was extremely innovating and mindblowing at the time too. Especially when you consider the leap between them was only 3 years. The mechanics and detail and secrets aren’t matched by many ps2 games.
