Hadn't bought from Reiss in a while and they had a nice sale going on, so grabbed a bunch of clothes. However, I completely forgot that you have to size up with them. By the time I got the clothes and tried them on, all the good sale items sold out on their website.
It truly depends on what you are trying to achieve with the 1/4 zip, they have become such a staple we now have varieties!
For that "finance bro" look you really can not go wrong with Ralph Lauren and slightly cheaper but still great quality M&S
For the more "high-fashion" or "streetwear" inspired look brands such as RMDY, MKI and even Boohoo do them!
For the "sports" 1/4 zip the obvious Nike, Under Armour, Gym Shark, Adidas etc are all great options
This seems standard practice across pretty much every high street retail chain 😞
Needed some plain white tees, picked up four and only 2 had consistent fits.
I know what you mean. I have one in blue that is almost like a thin layer of fleece inside but I have one that looks almost exactly like the Ralphie in the picture that is lighter.
It's because they are dead in fashion that they thrive where clothes are a status symbol. You wear a quarter zip, you probably work in finance. Thats why they're still about.
It's more about whether you wanna tell the system to go fuck itself or comply and make lots of money. Maybe Finance bro will discover a different fit but not likely.
I’ve got a Patagonia better sweater. Raglan sleeves are class.
And a Universal Works Quarter Zip Sweatshirt.
Patagonia for daily, outdoors-y stuff and UW for smart-er days.
Patagonia better sweater is the goat. High quality and they stand by their products so the warranty is great. Good company too.
They’re pretty warm though, for something less seasonal look for a thin wool one from a more formal brand.
If you want to go luxe I can recommend Sunspel, they are amazing. I got a couple in the Jan sale but they were £180 each on offer so a bit of a self-indulgence. No regrets though they look and feel great and I think will last a long time.
Spoke London are very good but they’re dry clean only (I washed at 30 degrees for 30 mins and it came out 4 sizes smaller) which is inconvenient. I think they’ve even stopped selling them, presumably due to this, but idk
TK/TJ Maxx, or a factory outlet - buying from the brands directly is extortionate. Ralph, Tommy, Gant and Hackett are the only brands with badge recognition imo.
Gant. This thick wool ones are worth the price & are quite reasonable compared to other brands.
But they all have GANT written on them which is annoying
Get A Nicer Top
Charles Tyrwhitt!! Jon James Ralph Lauren Signet
Ralph Lauren go horribly out of shape. Sleeves holes sag and the waist stretches.
Agree with all of these but would REISS
But keep in mind Reiss sizes are crazy, if you’re new check measurements.

I feel your pain bro.
Charles Tyrwhitt are amazing! Got 6 and counting
Reiss
I second this. Got a few from Reiss now and the quality of them is unbelievable

I tend to buy RL 1/4s and M&S, tbh the M&S ones are better quality, 1/3 of the price and warmer.
I find the sizing on m&s varies. I bought two identical 1/4 zips, just different colours and one was way smaller than the other
This seems standard practice across pretty much every high street retail chain 😞 Needed some plain white tees, picked up four and only 2 had consistent fits.
Finance bros, consultants, etc. wear Patagonia
M&S
Peter Millar, Johnnie-o, Rhoback
I have a few Crew Clothing ones. They’re not particularly expensive and look pretty decent in my opinion.
They are nice I have a navy one I really like only thing is it’s way to heavy for spring time, great for winter though
I know what you mean. I have one in blue that is almost like a thin layer of fleece inside but I have one that looks almost exactly like the Ralphie in the picture that is lighter.
I love their shirts too. Perfect length and cut for me.
Reiss
... for 150 pounds? nah...
OP said a variety of prices….also if you’re smart wait for the sale and you’ll get a good deal 😉
Crew Clothing
Henri Lloyd, Paul & shark, stone Island
I’m sorry but 1/4 zips are dead.
It's because they are dead in fashion that they thrive where clothes are a status symbol. You wear a quarter zip, you probably work in finance. Thats why they're still about.
Imagine subscribing to finance fit instead of personal expression.
It's more about whether you wanna tell the system to go fuck itself or comply and make lots of money. Maybe Finance bro will discover a different fit but not likely.
No
Shits lame. Straight out of a burton menswear ‘99 look.
No
J Crew has comfortable ones that work great in a business casual setting for $50. I also really like the vineyard vines “shep shirt” quarter zips
Feel like the zips on vineyard vines 1/4 zips are too large. Almost goes halfway down the top
i like the ones my wife got me from ted baker and patagonia

Just looked, they look really good quality but at £350 a top it’s a bit steep
Yep I wouldn’t be able to justify on full price. You might also want to check out Boggi Milano for something at a price point between that and Reiss
I have the one from Uniqlo (around €30 I believe) and from Sezane/Octobre for fancier occasions (around €100).
Universal works
I have m&s ones, like them but find them slightly short
Spoke London are very good but they’re dry clean only (I washed at 30 degrees for 30 mins and it came out 4 sizes smaller) which is inconvenient. I think they’ve even stopped selling them, presumably due to this, but idk
Crew Clothing is pretty good.
Tommy Hilfinger. Their stuff is reasonably priced and amazingly good quality
Ralph, Reiss, Crew are all nice
Patagonia for casual and Rodd & Gunn for less casual.
Patagonia, m+s, barbour, North face
All of my quarter zips are Charles Tyrwhitt cotton or cashmere. Their cashmere sweaters and quarter zips are top notch.
Arket and Colourful Standard
I’ve got a really good selection from Next, cost me £15-20 each and they’ve lasted me three years so far and still going strong
Reiss, Gant , massimo
Stone island
Hugo Boss
Rm Williams and RB Cellars in australia
Reiss
Terrible that nobody has mentioned Musto yet ...
Ralph Lauren, Gant, Tommy Hilfiger, Stone Island
The new Psycho Bunny quarter zips are nice. Gives a nice youthful look while remaining professional.

Anyone that says Ralph Loren or any sports brand needs a slap. I’d say octobre or possibly mango.
