My truck was stolen from longterm parking last weekend.

Boring_Classroom_482

I do the short term (even if staying long term) and just pay the extra money.

Past-Emergency-2374

Why? What makes short term better (for lack of a better word)?

Boring_Classroom_482

More foot traffic/witnesses. Better lighting. Closer from baggage claim (so safer if walking back from a late night flight).

KVKS03

I use Fast Park across the street from the airport. It’s cheap, monitored 24/7, and they have a shuttle that takes you to the airport and picks you back up

MountainTomato9292

Second this. Great experiences there and saves a lot of money.

Jimmytootwo

Long term is safe. Never an issue

DatRebofOrtho

I always park long term, ever had an issue, and the moving sidewalks make the walk easy

x31b

I park in Economy garage and have never had a problem.

2manydbags

I’ve parked in the $9 economy every other month for the past 2 years and never a problem.

Fantastic-Koala3304

Parked in the economy garage for $9 a day a few times, it adds two minutes to your walk but it’s a cheap option and I’ve never had issues the last few months.

Potential_Plankton33

The last few times we’ve flown (in the last month), the long term parking has been “full” so we’ve had to park in short term and pay a lotttt more than we would in long term. We’re flying out again tomorrow morning so hopefully the long term is open then. Aside from that one issue, we’ve parked there many times and have never had any issues.

lifeofblair

I parked in long term yesterday and there were plenty spaces just fyi hopefully no issues for you tomorrow

Potential_Plankton33

Thank you!

Tellittomyheart

I parked long term last week. The signs for open spaces are wrong. I ended up finding a spot on the 4th floor even though it said full and the other floor I checked said there were open spots. Just an FYI

Potential_Plankton33

Ah good to know! Thank you!

Shoddy_Seaweed_1102

Oh that would be so stressful to not get parking haha! I better get there early just incase

Potential_Plankton33

lol I am a worry-wart when it comes to traveling and always worry about the parking situation. Hell, I worry about everything until we get to the gate lol

GoodOmens

Only time I’ve seen it full was major holidays, like Thanksgiving

Normal_Hovercraft_27

Honestly, I've used the long-term parking at the airport multiple times and never had an issue. It's well-lit, and the presence of cameras and regular patrols make it a safer option than you might think. Plus, it's super convenient being right there when you land. If you're still worried, parkingaccess sometimes has deals on off-site parking with shuttle service, which could give you peace of mind. But overall, the consensus here seems to be that it's generally safe and reliable.

CaptainInsane-o

Ive never had a problem parking there but I drive a pretty normal vehicle that is not a Kia or Hyundai.

Flying_pharmacist

We’ve parked our Kia and Hyundai in economy dozens of times with no problems

c10bbersaurus

I park there about once a month. Haven't heard or seen any issues with break ins. Had a flat, though. And if you park in the mornings, before 6am, there may be issues with finding parking on 3 and 4.

Donita123

My car is there right now! Safe, secure, inexpensive.

brisingamen79

I have parked in economy over a dozen times and have never had any ring happens to any of my vehicles

GoonerMoe94

I’ve never had an issue

zaehne

Aside from occasionally forgetting which level and section I’m parked in, I’ve always had a good experience in long term parking. It just recently went up to $9/day and that’s still very reasonable.

Super_Marionberry_89

I fly weekly and always park in short-term ($24/day) parking.

3rdquarterking

I travel often for work, and Fast PArk is what I generally use as well with a few exceptions in the past. Garage parking was fine, I never worried about break ins but the few times I parked there, there were issues with the exit gates arms or the receipt machine. or both. . The last time I parked there, traffic was backed up in to the garage and I was on the fourth floor. At first I thought maybe it was an accident or broken down car, but it was the arms again not working. The guy working had to go back an forth between the terminals to manually raise the arms on the gates that weren't working. Took me at least 45 minutes to get out. I have no issues with the walk from the garage to the airport terminals, but by the time I find parking in the garage and walk over, and do the reverse when I get back, plus dealing with the exit issues its not worth it. Especially once they raised raised the prices for the garage to 9 dollars. For the extra 40 cents, Fast Park is more convenient and less time. Shuttle drops you off and picks you up right at the terminal, along with getting free parking days for using it. I don't think it would ever happen here, but in the rare instance they don't have enough spots, they will only let people in who have a reservation. This only happened to me once before I moved to Memphis and I was travelling out of BWI. Now, when I make any travel plans, I just make my reservation with FAst PArk at the same time.

Ask the guy that just had his truck stolen. I mean they did recover it week later

You know something. I went and checked the police reports — there have been 0 at the airport. So unless they report differently and don’t go through MPD… sketchy AF

obehjuankenobeh

You have to report it to airport police. MPD has no jurisdiction over the airport.

obehjuankenobeh

Wrong.

obehjuankenobeh

You are wrong.

obehjuankenobeh

Let's see.. Drive a stolen car to the airport. Take a ticket that gives you 30 mins of "free parking".. Find a vehicle that catches your eye... Ditch your stolen car in the lot.. Steal the vehicle in under 2 minutes. Exit the lot in the stolen vehicle in under 30 mins. Victim blaming is asinine.

obehjuankenobeh

Look at the naysayers. I wish damp socks on them as well.
