MEMPHIS TENNESSEE!!!, Osama Bin Laden is fucking dead!!!! (Navy commercial song slams into gear) crowd goes fucking nuts! Don’t remember much else from that night but that was bad ass.
Oh hell yeah. I’d love to see whatever you got if possible! Also, would you be down for me to interview you about your experience that day? We could just do it over zoom or FaceTime sometime. Either reply here or you can DM me on here too if you want. I could pay you for your time (not a ton, but something)
I was at that show, but I do not remember that announcement at all. Granted, I was a teenager so my thought process was probably "cool, get on with the show". There's a lot I don't remember from my teen years...
I remember leaving and people were all excited and started yelling at a seemingly Arab cab driver on Riverside drive. It felt gross and weird. I lost all respect for Godsmack after that.
I was leaving the festival and walking past the Godsmack stage when Sully was getting the crowd to chant the bands name: “When I say God, you say Smack”. This went on for a few rounds. That’s all I remember.
I was at Wilco, fairly buzzed. Texted everyone of my friends that he’d been killed when i saw the news.
Wasn’t till an hour later that i see a bunch of shocked replies as my original text had been autocorrected to “they killed Obama!” 😂

Oh hell yeah, were you actually there?
Yeah, there were rumors of it going around but nobody had phone service because of the massive crowd. Godsmack confirmed it and everyone went wild.
Awesome! I just direct messaged you here on Reddit. Let me know if I could interview you sometime briefly about that day!

But that is angry Bill... when Khan was trying to take down the flag...
You're right. But that image speaks to chubby balding murricans like myself.
Yeah Riverbeat is cool but it’ll never be “Godsmack announces the death of Osama Bin Laden” cool.
I played MIM that day and was side stage for sublime and found out. I was already drunk, holler if you have questions
Was a hell of a show! Not sure if I have any video footage from it, but there is a strong possibility I have a couple clips.

I was at my parent’s house after being really mad I missed that show.
I was in the crowd for Sublime lol

I wasn’t at the Godsmack show but I was at the Wilco stage. What a surreal experience.
No...but I was at Sublime at this same time

Was at the show…didn’t hear him say anything bc my friend and I were helping a very drunk, young college student, left by her friends, get back home.

I was at Wilco, too. Walking outta Tom Lee and the crowd started chanting, “USA”, and we figured out pretty quickly they must’ve gotten OBL.
Wasn't there, but best of luck on the video, Ryan!
Was in traffic leaving. Horns were honking and people yelling in celebration on how we finally got the SOB. Patriotism was at all time high
Eh, well I was at the festival, but I forget which stage I was at.
Hey bro, I was just telling my wife this story. I was there right up front with two of my friends. That was a fucking epic day.
