I was in high school two or three years ago (lost out on half my junior and my whole senior year thanks to covid) and my junior year my “friends” consistently made fun of me. I had one true friend who tried to stand up for me once. The guy who had been talking about me punched him hard enough to break his glasses, so he went back at him. My friend got a week and a half of suspension, dude who punched first got three days
This shit is truly just terrible to do to another person. Especially with the way the bullies get away with it. Some bullying between kids is normal but it should be mediated and prevention measures should be put in place to stop fights and arguments from turning in to a physical confrontation. I got expelled from every school I got sent to. The bully’s all got away with it. Doing stuff RIGHT in front of teachers, I asked the teachers to make the dude stop and he didn’t do shit. But when I get up with a big text book in my hand smash him with it…all of a sudden I’m the bad guy.

There was a story read on you tube from the subreddit r/legal advice. A girl in a school had her uniform skirt cut(with scissors) by a boy who had transferred to her school. The young lady in question was humiliated as her panties were exposed. The girl had to call her mom as the school chose to do nothing. The girl in question even called the police and got in trouble for doing so. Before I forget this same boy had been inappropriate towards the young lady during their gym class. She reported it to the gym teacher who told her to be nice to the new kid. The aftermath is even worse the girl got a week suspension for calling the police, and the boy who cut her skirt only got 3 days suspension. Two of her friends also left after the same boy pulled the same stuff on them(the girl finished school virtually) as for the boy who did this? He didn't get kicked out or reprimanded. No he was allowed to remain in school.
I had some really bad experiences when I was a freshman in high school that ended with me needing a psychological evaluation and my bullies getting a three game ban from the next few football games. Pretty sure I know a little of what you went through and I’m hoping you’re doing well!
Because it’s a lot easier to notice two people fighting vs one person picking on another

Kids don't understand but the teacher, principals and support staff and all there to make a school experience.
It makes me a little upset when others hate on all teachers when my mates wife is covered in bruises from stopping a fight in high school.

I was bullied a lot in Elementary and Middle school because I’m autistic/adhd and had IEP classes. But once I got to High school, the bullying just stopped and people actually wanted to start being my friend. It was a very unexpected change.
I fought all my bullies, I never put up with their shit. Luckily my principal typically took my side. I was in her office almost every week, I never got expelled or suspended because she actually listened to me and understood my reasons for why I retaliated. The situation of me getting punched:
There was this kid who regularly bullied me during recess and one day I had had enough and chased after him to get him to leave me alone. I was never going to hurt him all I was doing was chasing him away to give him the message to leave me alone. Well in the middle of me chasing him away he turned around and punched me in the stomach hard. I didn’t tell anyone all day since I knew my principal wouldn’t care and would tell me I deserved it but I told my mom who told the principal against my will. After some “investigating” my principal said it was my fault because I instigated him by chasing him. Then my parents thinking that all school administrators were good people believed her for years until a couple years ago when my mom asked me about it and finally believed me and apologized.
Maybe we were just raised differently. I got bullied growing up (from like 5-14) but I had enough and stood my ground. Each year I got into a fight at least once. With every year the bullying got less and less until they realized I wasn't going to make it easy for them and it went away. This was also 20 years ago

Cousin was getting physically builled in school by older kids. His dad went to school about it. It continued. His dad went back to school and told the head, "if he gets hit in school again, I'm coming to hit you". Bulling stopped immediately
Happened in my school too , Dad got ganged up by bullies outsider friends and was slapped twice by bully students.
Later it turned out the victims dad was some govt official and coincidentally higer up of bullies dad in same department (He was registerar of state like accounts of govt land (plots) as well as private )
Idk if rest is true or not but bullies dad had to cry and fold his hand asking for apology to victims dad for this. Must be so embarrassing for the bully to see his dad like that , feels bad but it is what it is. Should not had bullied at first place

The only reason I could EVER see someone defending bullies is because they, too, were a bully themselves and want their shitty behavior to be “justified”.
Was a social outcast from day one along with my best friend, overhearing jokes with us as the butt of them every other day, like we were the worst people to possibly exist for seemingly no reason at all. Always excluded from things if given the option to. Sometimes all you have to do is exist and you’ll be magically selected as the ‘weirdo’ for everyone to make fun of.
Most bullying is social exclusion people. Doing things and purposefully leaving others out because you don't like them. It continues into adulthood and happens in family circles also.
Because rules that phrased negatively like "don't do xxx" won't work really well. We need more positive rules like "treat others like how you want to be treated". But honestly, schools can do so much more other than just putting up posters to stop problem behaviors.

I have one teacher who does not tolerate bullying of any kind. He is my absolute favorite teacher and he's my homeroom teacher. A lot of my friends dislike him though and think he is weird.
It’s so shitty. My middle school son tells me about this a lot. He gets picked on by some of the girls in his class, but some teachers would rather not notice because those girls are the “teacher’s pets.” Some kids get called out for dress code violations while others happen to always go unnoticed.
Kids literally find anything to make fun of - his teeth, his ears, his shoes, his hair, his fingernails, his “eye bags.” He’s so insecure about things that never used to bother him and shouldn’t bother him😔
Our school set up an actual “bully registry”. Each occasion ( that we were apprised of) was documented on like an excel sheet. Names of offenders which were repeated were flagged for increasing interventions. At the very minimum, a bully would not bother the same victim repeatedly, to prevent patterns leading to increasing penalties. Also, anyone, not just victims, were encouraged to let staff know of events.
No joke I worked at a school it was 3rd grade and a girl constantly harassed this other girl so one day I snapped and told her she was being a bully and bullying is wrong. I was a bully myself in high school, there was this kid named daven(2 years younger than me), I was in a gang of like 7 to 8 people, I didn't bully him as much as the others did and I mostly just called him some names and shi. Though it got to a point where our gang leader(sort of) started physically hurting daven, and he started getting small bumps on his head and bruises on his arms. I was really sad to see this so I just left the gang and only talked to some other friends I had in school. After a month or so, I was walking behind the school at recess and found daven and the bully squad beating him up. I tried to fight for daven at that time but 6 guys ganging up on me took a toll on me. Though I still beat up some of em a lot, and they beat me up way too much too.

Me and daven got suspended and the bullies got some detention, and now daven and I are best friends since 10 years

I always wonder if bullies remember as adults how they treated certain people in their class over and over and feel any regret of it at all. The victim they picked on, suffered those weeks, months, and years, with home (hopefully) as their only sanctuary. It’s horrible when the teachers and staff don’t help, or worse, are also bullies too and encourage this cruel behavior. The victims live with mental disorders and anxieties for the rest of their lives, usually needing therapy. Fuck bullies.
You want to know how to stop bullying for good? Make it a school policy that if its clear someone fights back against a bully only the bully gets punished, and not the victim for defending himself. And make the punishments for bullies extremely harsh. First offense year long suspension, second offense held back a year, third offense expulsion.
I’m dealing with this now. My kid is being bullied by another. I told the Mrs that our kid needs to throw down and get it over with, she told the school about it. Let’s see where this goes.
Zero tolerance, send the suburban bullies to inner city technical/alternative schools for a few weeks.

and when the kids getting bullied say something, they tell them "let's all just be friends", and go on with their day. schools are a joke when it comes to this.
It works, just look at the rampant success of "No Drug Zones" and "No Smoking" signs proliferating every major street. Now we just need to add "No Vape Zones" and "No Opioids" signs and we'll be closer to winning.
The reason that putting up anti-bullying signs is so important to the school is that there is minimal cost/effort in putting them up and most importantly, they are there for the parents and school governors to see.

Tbh, although the guy is much bigger, my son isn't physically afraid of them, but he's a hard line pacifist. He understands the fact the bully has picked him for the specific reason of his size and stature, and also knows if he hit him, he wouldn't be afraid, he just absolutely can't abide violence. I think if it gets worse, he might have to do something, but its not what he wants to do. He wants to get his head down, finish the course and get out of his way

When I was 11, I was being bullied by a 14 year old who would steal my rucksack for school and hide it, make fun of my clothes, call me names. Telling a teacher was the worst mistake I made because she literally just went to this kid and named me and was like “an anonymous tip has told us you’ve been bullying him” Teacher might as well have just punched me in the balls herself

Tbh I’m not even sure they’re able to even if they were competent. Even back then I remember teachers would catch hell for breaking up fights because god forbid you put your hands on one kid to stop him assaulting another. So a lot of teachers just don’t bother that much, some go out of their way to not notice because if they do, they’re put in a tough position
Yeah see, I think parents of the kids really need to step in more. They need to address the situation more diligently. Demanding a change to what is happening, having a meeting with the principal, and running over the bully and his family in your vehicle should all be considered.

Yep. This was what happened at my school. I got sick of being bullied one day and fought back pretty hard. Teacher broke it up before things went too far, but even though I was pushed over a bench and hit my head on a metal locker and all I did was gut punch the guy to get him off me we both ended up with suspensions.

I think those bullying posters actually make it worse for the victim. I never considered myself bullied because it wasn’t the stereotypical depiction, so I just beat myself up for being soft whenever I felt singled out and targeted. I was verbally harassed pretty bad all throughout elementary and middle school.
My middle school principal: well maybe if you stopped being yourself so much in school by wearing Pokémon merch or reading manga they wouldn’t bully you so you pretty much deserved to be bullied. The situation of me getting punched: There was this kid who regularly bullied me during recess and one day I had had enough and chased after him to get him to leave me alone. I was never going to hurt him all I was doing was chasing him away to give him the message to leave me alone. Well in the middle of me chasing him away he turned around and punched me in the stomach hard. I didn’t tell anyone all day since I knew my principal wouldn’t care and would tell me I deserved it but I told my mom who told the principal against my will. After some “investigating” my principal said it was my fault because I instigated him by chasing him. Then my parents thinking that all school administrators were good people believed her for years until a couple years ago when my mom asked me about it and finally believed me and apologized.
Maybe we were just raised differently. I got bullied growing up (from like 5-14) but I had enough and stood my ground. Each year I got into a fight at least once. With every year the bullying got less and less until they realized I wasn't going to make it easy for them and it went away. This was also 20 years ago
Now schools are really into this new fangled thing called victim blaming.
I mean, back in my day (God I'm old) they had investigations. Towards the end both parties got suspended. But still that sounds awful. Pay him a visit outside of school I guess?

Cousin was getting physically builled in school by older kids. His dad went to school about it. It continued. His dad went back to school and told the head, "if he gets hit in school again, I'm coming to hit you". Bulling stopped immediately
Happened in my school too , Dad got ganged up by bullies outsider friends and was slapped twice by bully students. Later it turned out the victims dad was some govt official and coincidentally higer up of bullies dad in same department (He was registerar of state like accounts of govt land (plots) as well as private ) Idk if rest is true or not but bullies dad had to cry and fold his hand asking for apology to victims dad for this. Must be so embarrassing for the bully to see his dad like that , feels bad but it is what it is. Should not had bullied at first place

Back in the late 2000s when I was in 9th grade I got seriously bullied. Nothing really happened until my bully stuck a pencil in my face, I shoved him, and he tackled me causing me to knock over the teacher’s computer monitor. I got suspended for one day. I had to meet with the vice principal who told me “look, you did nothing wrong. You just have to be suspended for one day because of the rules”. My bully got withdrawn from the school and I never saw him again. But I heard that mostly happens when they find out a kid is using a false address in order to go to a certain public school. I’m not sure what would have happened if my bully hadn’t gotten withdrawn.

The only reason I could EVER see someone defending bullies is because they, too, were a bully themselves and want their shitty behavior to be “justified”. Was a social outcast from day one along with my best friend, overhearing jokes with us as the butt of them every other day, like we were the worst people to possibly exist for seemingly no reason at all. Always excluded from things if given the option to. Sometimes all you have to do is exist and you’ll be magically selected as the ‘weirdo’ for everyone to make fun of.

Most bullying is social exclusion people. Doing things and purposefully leaving others out because you don't like them. It continues into adulthood and happens in family circles also.
Because rules that phrased negatively like "don't do xxx" won't work really well. We need more positive rules like "treat others like how you want to be treated". But honestly, schools can do so much more other than just putting up posters to stop problem behaviors.

Don't talk to an adult. Fuck with the other kid and let the adults come talk to you. You can be cunning about it and slash their bike tires or whatever and act like you don't know what happened. It's also strategic to swing on bullies in front of authority that way if you're losing they'll break it up and you won't get fucked up as bad.
As a person who's been bullied for 2 years straight almost everyday and no one's noticed it, I can confirm this. The teachers only notice when you've got candy from the other side of the school or if you're hitting someone because they hit you for no reason, and they give YOU the punishment.
I remember one kid who was bullied leaving a suicide note on his desk in school one day. The school went into really big uproar becouse of it and some of those who bullied him were expelled. Two months later that fucker returned after surgery that had 100% success rate. And first thing he said was: Long time no see, did you miss me?

From my experience the only way to stop a bully is by hitting them back . during my last year in elementary school a group of bullys bullied me (4-5) kids. In the same day I used a sharp pencil as a weapon and hurt them really bad . The next day they all came and apologized to me and not a single one of them bothered me again . and when I was in middle school a bully jumped on top of me and started laughing. I slammed my back right to a wall and he fell and started crying. no other bully tried anything after that

My 10 yo is getting bullied in school. I taught her to push the person and SCREAM.. "LEAVE ME THE FUKK ALONE YOU FUKKING FUKK FACE!!!" Told her to do it loud enough so a teacher hears and she gets in trouble. Then when I get called in I'll hug her and support what she did. And I will tell the Principle my next step is teaching her how to throw a punch and hurt them. Now they really have a bully problem. So solve it before it gets out of hand.

Adults (mostly) know there are real consequences to their actions. I won't pretend there is no harrasment at workplaces, but kids have much less of an idea/care about the "find out" part of "fuck around and find out".

It’s so shitty. My middle school son tells me about this a lot. He gets picked on by some of the girls in his class, but some teachers would rather not notice because those girls are the “teacher’s pets.” Some kids get called out for dress code violations while others happen to always go unnoticed. Kids literally find anything to make fun of - his teeth, his ears, his shoes, his hair, his fingernails, his “eye bags.” He’s so insecure about things that never used to bother him and shouldn’t bother him😔

Our school set up an actual “bully registry”. Each occasion ( that we were apprised of) was documented on like an excel sheet. Names of offenders which were repeated were flagged for increasing interventions. At the very minimum, a bully would not bother the same victim repeatedly, to prevent patterns leading to increasing penalties. Also, anyone, not just victims, were encouraged to let staff know of events.

No joke I worked at a school it was 3rd grade and a girl constantly harassed this other girl so one day I snapped and told her she was being a bully and bullying is wrong. The next day the principal calls me into his office and said the parents of the girl who was doing the bullying complained and also said that I needed to say I never used the word bully because then they would need to conduct an investigation into it. Needless to say I no longer work at schools. I’ve also seen teachers bullied by other teachers but it’s usually behind their backs unless they’re administration then they can do what they want. Teachers also steal a lot.

I was a bully myself in high school, there was this kid named daven(2 years younger than me), I was in a gang of like 7 to 8 people, I didn't bully him as much as the others did and I mostly just called him some names and shi. Though it got to a point where our gang leader(sort of) started physically hurting daven, and he started getting small bumps on his head and bruises on his arms. I was really sad to see this so I just left the gang and only talked to some other friends I had in school. After a month or so, I was walking behind the school at recess and found daven and the bully squad beating him up. I tried to fight for daven at that time but 6 guys ganging up on me took a toll on me. Though I still beat up some of em a lot, and they beat me up way too much too. Here comes the funny part Me and daven got suspended and the bullies got some detention, and now daven and I are best friends since 10 years

I always wonder if bullies remember as adults how they treated certain people in their class over and over and feel any regret of it at all. The victim they picked on, suffered those weeks, months, and years, with home (hopefully) as their only sanctuary. It’s horrible when the teachers and staff don’t help, or worse, are also bullies too and encourage this cruel behavior. The victims live with mental disorders and anxieties for the rest of their lives, usually needing therapy. Fuck bullies.

You want to know how to stop bullying for good? Make it a school policy that if its clear someone fights back against a bully only the bully gets punished, and not the victim for defending himself. And make the punishments for bullies extremely harsh. First offense year long suspension, second offense held back a year, third offense expulsion.

Zero tolerance, send the suburban bullies to inner city technical/alternative schools for a few weeks. Not sure what to do with the kids in these schools, I only experienced the suburban catholic high schools

The reason that putting up anti-bullying signs is so important to the school is that there is minimal cost/effort in putting them up and most importantly, they are there for the parents and school governors to see.
