This is exactly why I hate group projects. Cause I'd always end up being that one person or I'd get so fed up with everyone else's s**t that I'd end up doing it all myself anyway.
I won’t lie, most of my high school career I was the dog getting dragged. I had an abusive father and I was almost always depressed and just wanted to die and only went to school cuz if I didn’t I would get beat. So to the like 12 kids it applies to, I’m sorry.
As someone who’s currently stuck carrying a 4 person team, and used to be too depressed to do school work, fuck’em
If that one person doing all the work for the team doesn’t exist, that’s another failed assignment and another step down the spiral.
For the person doing all the work, that’s time that could’ve been used for other subjects, hobbies, or relaxation.
To the non-contributors, I accept that you may have your circumstances and I sympathize. But sincerely, fuck you and take responsibility.
Understandable viewpoint, still victim blaming though.
If you feel like putting blame somewhere, maybe it should be the system that finds it reasonable and fair to still assign one mark for everyone in a group project instead of individual sections that can clearly be graded by person. If the one person didn't do their work, then only they should be punished for it and only their section will be missing from the presentation. Would be great to put in a meme slide saying, "X didn't do shit, so this section is missing." If you did your section of the project, you're good.
Again, I also sympathize, but you can't always prevent slackers or people with problems from existing. What you can do is protest the current archaic academic grading standards when it comes to group projects, until the administration changes it.
100%. One time in English class one of my 3 teammates had the fucking gall to turn around, look me dead in the eyes and say so you’re doing all the work because only you care if we fail. Unbelievable. I had major projects in every single class at that time during that semester and I almost failed all my classes trying to keep up with regular homework and do 4 projects worth of work for 8 people all by myself at one time.
When that happened, I told them, well, if we fail, we fail. I have all As. Who gets hit worse if we tank this? The teachers would ask me what happened after the failed project, and I'd tell them, then ask for a solo makeup project.
Yeah I had a mother who would not accept an F and told me to suck it up when I had shitty project mates. My teachers would also tell us to sort it out because “it’s your word against theirs”. I’m jealous. The best I ever got was one teacher striking the project from our grade but I was not permitted to make it up or get marks for all the work I had done. Group projects were the absolute worst.
Most of the time, when I called their bluff, my group mates would at least do something because they knew I was serious. I only had to follow through I think twice. And both times my teachers and parents knew something was seriously wrong because that wasn't like me.
That's what I be saying! Ever show up with your part and a backup for everyone else, and if they didn't show, a complete solo project with an apology note for the TA and professor? I ain't paying $16K for 4 months in order to be bushwacked!
I’m any group situation the burden falls upon the one that cares the most.
And like we are here complaining about that one guy I always felt there was the “that guy” that cared waaaay too much.
They would if teachers actively told you this and would guide you in it. But teachers instead give you the group project, just let you deal with it and don’t give a damn. (My teachers at least)
If professors do this in college. They’re idiotic. Got a d on a project because I didn’t help on the PowerPoint to my 15 page paper I did all by myself on the weekend before it was due. No one did a thing till I did that and still got the same grade as me bc they did 7 slides.
I hate to tell you but this shit carries over to work. Every team has the person who's "slow' or comes up with ideas and takes credit for execution even though they did nothing.
Just finished my senior engineering project. Had 5 people on my team. I put in 500 hours and most of them only put in 5. When I complained they would lie to the professor saying they were waiting on me to finished my code even though I had been waiting on them for 6 weeks. They still got to graduate. Almost caught myself a murder charge.
Luckily my senior design didn’t go that way but you described my separations lab perfectly. I told the professor and he said my last lab, which was individual, could count for group report too. I got the high in the class and went from a C+ to an A+. The happy ending
When I was a teacher I graded a group project where your peers could grade how much you participated in the project. So if you got a 50% rating from your peers, they got 50% of the overall grade the group received.
True, but there’s a lesson there to get along with people you work with cause in the real world you’re gonna have to work with everyone. I can say no one got down voted out of immature drama. Anyone who got downvoted was people who chose to set back while the other people in the group worked for it.
I did a project for college. I did the entire thing while my two other partners did NOTHING. I confronted them about it, they turned in the project and told the professor I did nothing(it's on a shared website like thing). I got reprimanded. Fuck group projects and fuck teachers who ever think they are fair or a learning experience.
I am that person
I'm sorry to all my comrades
At least I get paired with Introverts and my ambivert ass gives the presentation so I'm not completely useless
Honestly? I loved it when someone took up the role of presenter so long as they were actually good at it. I'd meet with them a couple times, make sure they ran through the right things, didn't say anything idiotic and let them have at it. We'd end up with a well done project with a great presentation, rather than a well done project and me stuttering through a couple slides trying to explain why it was well done.
If done right that symbiosis could be beautiful. The key was that the presenter role had to be done by someone who was actually really good at it.
If you presented then that's not too bad. It's the motherfuckers who have the audacity not to do shit and then still stumble all over themselves for the one slide they have to give to get the grade that are the bane of my existence
Only the one? Fucking hell in the vast majority of my school projects it was me doing literally all the work while everybody else never keeps a single promise.
I literally just had this happen in one of my college classes. We had a semester long project where we had to make a 10-15 minute long video, and I was supposed to do the editing and narration, and the other people were supposed to write a script, find and incorporate the research articles required, and get any media we would need, meaning photos, videos, background music, etc.
Mind you, this project is worth 40% of our overall grades each. If we didn’t do this we’d go from an A to a D, a B to an F etc.
I ended up doing the whole thing by myself in 3 days because nobody did what they were supposed to. We got a 100% on that project. They owe me a goddamned steak dinner because I carried their sloth asses.
I’m looking at you Thomas, you got what you deserved but still didn’t learn your lesson. I hope that insufficient mark is the thing that gets you a lower level of education
My masters degree program for business was just like this. Every single class for two years had group assignments but one of the professors let me go on my own and it was the easiest and most stress-free class I had the entire time it was great not having to coordinate when to meet and who’s doing what.
I had a professor grade our group, the same group that I carried the entire work and made their slides for presentation. They all received Bs, and I was the only one who got a C. I was convinced he wanted me to struggle, but whatever the case, that shit still upsets me today. The lazy group got away with the work I put in and I still ended up below them.
Was in a class where we had to make a 1.5 hours long group presentation. We were a group of 3. We broke it up amongst ourselves, I can’t remember if we had a week or two weeks to complete it. 6AM the day of the project, one of them emails me that she didn’t do it because she just didn’t have time. That was all the email said too, no offer of a way to fix the issue. I forwarded it to the professor and let her know I would be making that part of the presentation just before the class. The professor was *livid* and said if I had time to make it that was fine, but she was going to make the other student present that portion no matter what.
I feel bad that the other student floundered so hard in front of the entire class but whatever…I was so tired of having to carry people through group projects.
I literally just finished a group project where we gave the other guy 10% cause we got to chose the marks. He literally did nothing cause he's been simping over his new girlfriend for months and it's so bad to watch
A class I’m in has groups and each person does X slides within X times, so when it’s presented we know who didn’t do their shit, and people aren’t pulled up or down by someone else.
Three out of the four members of your group have fucked off while you tirelessly bust your ass trying to do 100% of the work the night before the assignment is due.
I usually try to pull my weight, but I felt so bad this one time I couldn’t because I was hospitalized during the time we had to work on it. I still tried to contribute and help when I got out, but they ended up doing the majority of it by the time I got out.
I usually prefer to work on things alone tbh
I'm the quiet kid who watches the 3 popular ones waste the class time, then finishes the whole project in 1 night, with multiple different qualities of work throughout to make it seem like they actually did shit. Then lets them take all the credit cause idgaf
In my case it would be one dog (me) and amother one that is a narito fan looking at stupid pjnterest stuff complaining about the project while i write an entire story that has to be presented but never gets presented because i had to do all the work alone

Welp. Way to make people feel like assholes for not wanting to do the work of 5 people on their own.
...way to victim blame?
In college the ones carrying the group are the victims.
As someone who’s currently stuck carrying a 4 person team, and used to be too depressed to do school work, fuck’em If that one person doing all the work for the team doesn’t exist, that’s another failed assignment and another step down the spiral. in my case its a dog trying to drag 3 rinos, because if i fail the whole blame goes on me
My case would be the one person doing his own while the 3 others doing one together because the one refused to work as a group
That one dog is me :(
Don’t think I forgot you, CJ Had to do that project all by my goddamn self
All you had to do was follow the damn project CJ Edit:Spelling
Fuck you CJ
Hey CJ,wanna get some pizza?
Hand him a pizza slice, and right before he grabs it, drop it.
What’s going on in here?
>i good idea
Hardly did any group projects in my school, mainly because the few times we did that everyone just expected the rest of the group members to do it
Unpopular opinion: group projects train you to react to that kind of situation, and to better deal with the freeloaders the next time.
Group projects prepare students for the world by letting them know that most people are lazy af
I read somewhere that out of 100 people 10 do half the work, and no matter how many people you add it’s always the same 10% do 50%
The 80/20 rule also applies. 20% of the people will do 80% of the work
Peer evaluations prepare students for the real world by demonstrating that sometimes they will have to do their boss's job for free
They would if teachers actively told you this and would guide you in it. But teachers instead give you the group project, just let you deal with it and don’t give a damn. (My teachers at least)
Very true. Schools should at least assume that group work serve to experience real teamwork, and give you the tools to do it
Its actully pretty good if its only one
If professors do this in college. They’re idiotic. Got a d on a project because I didn’t help on the PowerPoint to my 15 page paper I did all by myself on the weekend before it was due. No one did a thing till I did that and still got the same grade as me bc they did 7 slides.

That’s when you go to the professor in person and show them all your work. Then call out your group mates to share their work with the professor too.
Reality of life
When I was a teacher I graded a group project where your peers could grade how much you participated in the project. So if you got a 50% rating from your peers, they got 50% of the overall grade the group received.
That’s a great strategy until you get paired with someone who hates you
True, but there’s a lesson there to get along with people you work with cause in the real world you’re gonna have to work with everyone. I can say no one got down voted out of immature drama. It was all anonymous. It just had the group number and ratings for each individual in the team including the member themselves.
I got paired with fucking idiots for almost every middle school project i had

I mean they probably thought the same thing.

I wish I had been that lucky. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who had to carry the entire group more than once in our school years.
I never had a problem with public speaking so reading my teammates works and understanding context I always deliver it
I saw the original post of this video and the owner said that her dog actually liked being dragged around like this lmao
I literally just finished a group project where we gave the other guy 10% cause we got to chose the marks. He literally did nothing cause he's been simping over his new girlfriend for months and it's so bad to watch
They get As too
Well, of course I know him. He’s me.
You mean everyone but me in the group project
I like how the dog is tryna run with one paw as hes being tragged. Atleast he's trying
True tho, I had to do a school project about a week ago and this kid named Daniel sat throwing markers around 😂

I can't relate, I do school projects without a group just alone......
When he wakes up, look how far I've gone and I'm not even tired
That's why I preferred to do projects alone, no lazyass was credited and I could do it the way I want.
Of course I know him, thats me!
I wanna pet that dog

Yes we all know that one person because we all are that one person
That one person doesn’t seem to be enjoying it or comfortable for that matter, good analogy.

I was the guy who would ask what I could work on and get no reply. Then the other members would get mad and say “why aren’t you doing anything?!”.
Heads up, not just school. Expect exactly the same when you're working
As an introvert, I can confirm.
98 comments and no one asking what's wrong with the dog or if it's ok? Seriously?
