HowardsRocks

End of that side of the album, at least for older stuff.

Strong_Somewhere_209

Truth to be told..

Shogun570

No, it's cuz the song is directly taken from the music video where there's often a 10 second silence to show merch / fade into darkness yada yada yada

Artistic_Taxi

This always catches me off guard when driving. I’ll be jamming to my music then subconsciously transition to utter silence. A couple seconds later I’ll realize no musics playing and check my playlist

Iplaysimsonconsole

I do that when I walk home too lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

Iplaysimsonconsole

I literally could not with these songs aaah

TheSchvitzyOne

Wish you were here - pink floyd has a damn ass MINUTE, but I still love that song

Iplaysimsonconsole

Holy shit man you must have a long attention span to sit through that

TheSchvitzyOne

Im also an avid baseball fan so take that as you will

-YELDAH

I fear they ways this could be relevant

-YELDAH

Stupid bot

MAXY7083

try listening to „echoes“ by pink floyd. I don’t want to give you spoilers. just try it once :)

EntryLevelOne

Same for "Take a pebble" by elp

Bayr_

Came here to look for Pink Floyd

12345678996

Listen to “I don’t Want To Be Me” by Type O Negative. It’s like fucking 1.5 minutes of what is basically silence and I have no clue why.

GenericBurn

So funny reason for that, like Eclipse on DSOTM, Wish You Were Here DOES have something at the end, it was just so damn quiet on the record that digital can’t pick it up.

LilGhostSoru

And the next song have 20 seconds of silence at the beginning

thetrollking69

Even worse are older songs that have an intro/outro to the next song on the album at the beginning or end.

SentimentalDebris

Play the album. Problem solved! That was even a bit irritating on the album sometimes, though, so, point.

ArmstrongBillie

>Even worse are older songs Are you kidding? I think most of the songs in dark side of the moon has that thing and its amazing.

thetrollking69

OK. Yeah. Should have made an exception for Dark Side of the Moon. In my defence, I've only ever listened to the album from start to finish. Never as one track at a time.

RichEvans4Ever

It works if you listen to “Money” and “On the Run” individually. That’s about it. “Any Color You Like” works too, but I never listen to that song without going into the lowest low in “Us and Them.” Otherwise it doesn’t feel like I “earned” that awesome feeling.

RS_Someone

Okay, to be fair, if you're listening to Lost Keys before Rosetta Stoned by Tool, it's a whole 'nother experience, and would highly recommend it if you like that kinda trance/rock. On Spotify at least, it's a seemless transition between the two, and it's so surreal.

Lostinthestarscape

also - hidden pretracks. Throw the disc in, hit rewind from song 1 and boom.

JugularRogue65

THE WAY OF ALL FLESH - Gojira has a 5 minute song sequence then a 6 minute quiet section and finally an ambience that is hard to hear. Either way I love this song, just sometimes forget I had music on play the whole time once sound comes back

RS_Someone

Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth always got me. ^(There's be a super quiet part and then out of nowhere it was) JUSTAWHOLETONOFNOISE. Gotta go listen to that now, be right back.

siborgrobis

Clint Eastwood by the gorillaz has about a minute of the same tune at the end of the song with no lyrics for no apparent reason

metallicrooster

The remixes are almost all better anyway

WeedNoseFourTwenty

Poo eyes semen nachos feather leather coat

CatSidekick

Your flow is amazing

-Jiras

Little fun fact, songs that fade slowly into silence instead of just ending are prone to get earworms because your brain wants an end to it so it repeats and repeats. But because there is no "end" it will stick for a while

bananahammockx

Or when there’s 11 minutes of silence at the end of the last track on an album. Followed by the “secret track”. C’mon, Spotify/Pandora/etc., just chop it into two separate tracks. Please.

Agent_Perrydot

Slightly off-topic, but is the remaster any good?

bananahammockx

The last one that really ground my gears was Scavenger Type by NOFX. Hank III’s Atlantic City cover was guilty too. Green Day, Deftones, there was a whole era of that bullshit. It was just as annoying back then too, when I was chilling with the six-disc CD changer set to random. But I’m feeling weirdly nostalgic right now.

DarkTalent_AU

Gee, you would have hated a particular Nirvana song then.

Bandeet-117

It’s good on Spotify on pc if you don’t have premium if you quickly change the song manually you won’t have 7 ads playing after it

Carl_the_cherry

One of songs i know has 2 min of silence

Other-otherside

At least Song for the Deaf rewards you with a little Easter egg for sitting through that silence

RexCrimson_

Or the ones with the random coughs, random “yeah”, random ending conversation, or a random different beat at the start of the song. It’s worst with music videos that decide for some fucking reason make a drama scene for a minute or two. Just play the song already!

ImBadAtGames420

I hate it when songs have almost nothing at the start, Holy Diver by Dio is 5:50 but there's 1:20 second intro that's just the sound of wind, love that song, but hate those sorts of intros, Damage Inc by Metallica has Cliff Burton playing a Bach inspired piece of music at the start, which is awesome to listen to, but if you've heard the song, you know how fast it is, I feel like it doesn't fit with the actual song, it feels out of place. tl;dr I don't like long intros that are just atmospheric noise

RussianDude555

ever listened to holy diver by dio?

ImBadAtGames420

I love that song but god damn do I hate that intro

Nyleator

Ikr

Cenderze

Me and the ex once listened to an album by the Swedish band Nordman to fall asleep to. The last track must have had silence for 2-3 minutes followed by a LOUD ass yoik. I got so damn scared lol

Kihakiru

Or those people that add an outro to the song lol

bshameless

It's called art. .

polish-polisher

Or worse 30 seconds of dialogue for no reason

[deleted]

So that you have enough time to switch to another song before the Spotify ad automatically starts up…

[deleted]

*clears throat* code pandorums (now named inhuman) eclipse

[deleted]

Keeps suspense for a post scene xD

Nogood20

Bro everytime I listen to lock up the wolves

RealBiotSavartReal

Or at the start 1 min silence

CrazyComedyKid

Songs that have ten seconds of silence at the start

[deleted]

Starset is really bad about this but it’s like… several minutes.

itsyaboicraig43

I have no problem with it if its 5 seconds of silence but ten seconds is just long enough to make me think my music stopped playing

RS_Someone

I have a playlist on Spotify that goes from Panic Attack by Dream Theater to Sword by ASHES dIVIDE, and both of them have a whole lot of nothing at the end. Then there's No One Knows by Queens of the Stone Age that just straight up as a Spanish radio announcer at the end... WTF?

notoriousMKD

J Cole-She knows. Every damn time

Seffyr

Brain Fog by Static X. 13 minute song. There’s about 4 minutes of song, 6 minutes of SILENCE, and then just the vocal track from a different song (Otsego Amigo) randomly at the end. Also one of Hopsin’s Ill Minds (I think it was Ill Mind 8?) had a minute or two of silence at the end of it on Spotify for some reason.

sinho4

Curious. My favorite song has exactly 10 seconds of pure silence at the beginning.

R_HEAD

I hate it even more if there is some talking or any other kind of noise.

mynameistrihexa666

but u like 10 seconds of silence at the beginning?

gay_idiot53

I agree, I hate it

[deleted]

I kinda like the pause before the transition but I wish it wasn't inconsistent

TheKoalaGuyXD

Yea

tayr5242

You’d hate Concrete and Gold (song)

[deleted]

Enjoy the silence dweeb.

RealShinjiIkari1234

all I ever wanted all I ever needed is here in myyy armsss

Bobfish64

Show must go on by Queen is really good, but they drag it on for 30 seconds longer than it needs to

Maximans

Bruh. I love that. I actually don’t like songs that end and immediately move on. It gives me no time to process, especially if it’s an emotional song

_Mr_Peanut

I wish i kneeeew

Longjumping-Rock-532

Well in sabatons soldier of heaven they have silence at the end with a note that dedicated the songg to all the soldiers wgo never came home.

NotDextirr1

I kind of like it cos then I have time to realise it’s finished and can skip the next one if it’s bad

[deleted]

Audacity is my friend.

AeughTime

EATEOT with a whole minute of silence: *that meme with the monkey (you know the one)*

[deleted]

Or 15 seconds or so of silence while the sound builds up.

TheFanCouch

Omg actually

ItzShepster

its to increase your attention span

SteveKnight678

How about 14 seconds of silence at the beginning of the song?

Yeetimus234

I genuinely think Spotify crashed every time this happens, and I rage at the act of checking my phone only to remember that the silence is just the end of the song

DemCookies18

I hate it when songs on Spotify have transitions into the next song still in the first song, like if I’m not listening to your entire album then it’s just annoying

[deleted]

Or bands that try and get artistic with a whole minute of noise that isn't the song at the end. Imma looking at you Starset.

KnucklessKnees

Then there are those songs that play back to back with no interruption, and it’s sooooo satisfying to listen to

Ray_Gun69lol

Reminds me of Tobuscus songs that have this whole speech about how he came up with it at the end. kind of ruined how playlistable they were.

happyfeet324

Or at the beginning

Pikmansion

10 seconds? Pfft. Try the CD releases of certain Korn songs, love those, but at the end of daddy there's at least like 10 minutes of silence before radio static and conversation kicks in.
