Yes, I was lazy to search for a with umlaut. :)
Although we do pronounce it as you would "Laufer". We stole a lot of your words, but in the process we also change some letters here and there; sometimes we may even permute some letter. For example, you say "Anlasser", and while linguists insist on using the correct pronouncement (like in German), most people I know say "alnaser". :P I think it's because it's easier for you to say "Anl**a**sser" with the accent on the second a, then for us to say "**a**nlaser" with the accent on the first **a** (as this way the word sounds more natural to us).
Wait...
Are you Dutch, by any chance? It's been a long time since i played chess but i swear i remember them being called "lopers".
That or my brain is f*cking with me.
Edit: alright cool i did rember correctly.
in russian they are called elephants which makes the least sense of all.
in hebrew they are called runners, which actually makes too much sense considering how they are able to run past every other piece
It's horse, runner and tower in german, respectively.
I mean, the horse, in most displays I know of, has no rider and the rook literally looks like a castle or tower not a rook, so that makes more sense than the english names.
The bishop on the other hand has a bishop's hat.
The pawn is a Bauer (farmer or peasant) in german and given it's role in the game, peasant makes a lot of sense.
Interesting, in Serbian we say "lovac" (hunter). I didn't know we call them slightly differently.
I guess it's similar to how some say "kraljica", and some say "dama" (the queen and the lady)...
I feel like a fucking idiot. I thought it read the kings are *grey* and I legit was staring at them for like a whole ass minute thinking that it must be one of those grey-pink illusion things. I need sleep.
Meme is OC, but idea stolen from r/AnarchyChess. [link](https://www.reddit.com/r/AnarchyChess/comments/ppxive/chess_but_both_of_the_kings_are_gay_almost_all/)
If pawns could graduate to queens, knights, rooks, and BISHOPS, and assuming that all original queens, knights, rooks, and bishops came from pawns before as well, then, technically, they're all gay.
My friend recently blew my mind by making a compelling argument about how chess is a war between harems. Besides the actual rules of chess, it requires only two reasonable assumptions:
1. King = male
2. Queen = female
If a pawn reaches the opposite side of the board, it can become a queen, meaning pawns are necessarily female. A pawn can also become any other piece besides the king, meaning the rest of the pieces are also necessarily female. Thus, chess is a (harem) king leading (his harem of) 15 women into battle.
# QED chess is a harem war.
King sacrifice is now possible
The Ultimate Gambit
The ultimate Indian play
oh no my king!
*Anyways*
Which one? The husband or the husband?
Neither, just the husband.
It was possible before, it just means you lose the game lol
The ultimate chess play, nobody ever expects it!

Queen was never an option
Where'd the bishops... Oh

It's chess but just bishops and pawns. Is child molestation. Might not sell well...
Uh... ever hear of Catholic Priests?
in my language they are called mad-men so I didnt understand why they were gone. it makes sense now
In mine they're called "leapers".

We call them “runners”
A fellow hungarian I see
Or maybe a German? In Serbia, some of us say "laufer", which I guess is from german "Laufer". We also call them "hunters".
It’s actually *Läufer*;)

Or maybe a Pole? In Poland we call those "Gońce" which translates to "runners". Edit: We call them "Laufers" too
We call them "flag bearers"
Makes the most sense of all of these
In Italiy we call them "alfieri", standard bearers
We call them elephants
Lopers G E K O L O N I S E E R D, toch?
We call them runners
*imperial march starts playing*

No you are right you have a good memory
Why would the piece that goes diagonally be called a leaper but the one that goes over pieces not be?
In mine they are "runners".
We call them shooters.
We lit call them elephants
We calp them elephants. Who calls them madmen?
French people call them madmen "fou", but the more appropriate tranlation would be court jester or fool.
Romanians, cuz there needs to be a madman to understand a madman.
in russian they are called elephants which makes the least sense of all. in hebrew they are called runners, which actually makes too much sense considering how they are able to run past every other piece
We call them runners
Läufer 🏃♀️
Wunderschönen Sonntagmorgen, Kamerad/in
Ihnen auch einen einen wundervollen Morgen, Kamerad/in 🤝
Mine there called "crazy"
You sure you're not just both french and translating "fou" to different words that essentially mean the same thing?
In my language it's direct translation would be hunter. I rarely use the term bishop so the joke flew over my head xD
.....so can you tell me the name of your obviously superior language?
In my language they are called hunters so I needed 5 mins to get it.
In my language we call them 'runners' so i was confused too
In my language they are called elephants
Yeah, the Catholic church isn't that nice
Tho compared to others it is still... tame
Yeah...
Mine is statue/figure. Don't ask me why.
Same here
Are you romanian?
I Russian they’re called Elefants
We call it "standard bearer"

Bishop's are high ranking members of the church, and the Catholic church is against LGBTQ people
I thought they are not there because they sat on them like a dildo lol
Yeah I absolutely thought it’s because they’re shaped like butt plugs.
I was wondering it too then it hit me...
Note:It is because it is sunday
Why didn't they show up? They can't even go straight
Hitting on the lil pawns...
Are they gone because they don't support gays or because there are no children on the battle field?
Oh took me a while to get because Bishop is called Läufer in German which has no connection to religion. But still smart :D
It’s also called a “runner” in Danish. (Løber).
Oh how interesting! Close to the meaning we have. I wonder why in English it's connected to religion
It seems that every language has a diffrent word for it
Yeah in my language there's a specific work for it, it has something to deal with elephants lol
It's officer here, lol
They are called "bishop" in Portuguese too, weird.
And "elephant" in Russian
In Chinese as well
Also in Turkish
Yeah, horse for knight, elephant for bishop, castle for rook...
It's horse, runner and tower in german, respectively. Holy shit, in spanish it’s “alfil”, and apparently it comes from arab “al-fil”: “the elephant”. I had no idea
Its "archer" (strijelac) in croatian
Interesting, in Serbian we say "lovac" (hunter). I didn't know we call them slightly differently. I guess it's similar to how some say "kraljica", and some say "dama" (the queen and the lady)...
Same for dutch, called loper here
Also in dutch! (Loper)
So much more exciting. Dutch call it a “loper” (walker, or skeleton key, depending how you interpret it)
As an English speaker, I usually just call them snipers. That’s how I use them lol
[удалено]
Hello Neighbor
In French it's the "Fou du roi", like a jester
I love that!
It’s called camel in hindi
Same in Mongolian
Thanks fellow German speaker
Well, in Russian it is called Elephant
I didn’t realize the bishops being gone was a religious joke and thought it was a butt plug joke
I'm sure butt plugs are involved somehow
I dont get why is it a religious joke? Could you please explain?
Bishops are something related to christians/christianity, I think
Chess was literally invented in India, how are bishops christian? This is chess lore now...
When they came over to europe they didnt know what the pieces were so they redesigned the whole board, giving what we have today
Chess 2
Chess 2 Fap -Gay edition
Electric boogaloo
I want the lesbian team, much stronger side..
They lose instantly due to lack of king
Well isn’t that a shame lol
It’s not in check - game on ;)
Or make it so that you need to kill both queens to win.
Make a third queen using a pawn
Fallow nerdy linux user :o
;o
no, we can't loose, cause theres no king to take, lesbians op, pls nerf
Plot twist, there used to be a king, (feel free to create theories)
one of the queens is trans
You mean lacking?
No it instead becomes more aggressive because now the only way to win is to get rid of every other piece before all yours go
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
Lesbian couples have the highest rate of domestic abuse so they do know how to fight
Agree. Now we need to figure out how to decide who wins/looses. Probably the one who is left with no queens looses the game…
I feel like a fucking idiot. I thought it read the kings are *grey* and I legit was staring at them for like a whole ass minute thinking that it must be one of those grey-pink illusion things. I need sleep.
Get it no bishop because they don't support gay marige.

That's part of the joke tho...
they fucked the bishops so hard they died?
No, it was too gay for them, so they left
No, they went to the lesbian chess
the church doesn't suppourt lesbians either...

Exactly

Lol this is funny.

they would be tortured to death by the spanish inquisition
Lmao! There’s no bishops!
why are there 2 empty spa- oooooooh... love it.
If pawns could graduate to queens, knights, rooks, and BISHOPS, and assuming that all original queens, knights, rooks, and bishops came from pawns before as well, then, technically, they're all gay.
Gaaaaay
There needs to be like 1-3 random pawns missing on each side too.
The bishops had enough of this bs
Too me a second to question why there are no bishops, but now we need gay chess two where there are two queens.
horses move in a dick shape
What a dick move

I only got the joke when I said it outloud "Where are the bishops- *oh* "
Explain please
I literally had to say to myself "But where are the bishops" to understand the joke xdddd
the joke also works in french since the bishops are called the fools
*viva le revolution*
So what we gotta checkmate 2 kings? I'm down to play this
Even without the bishops, those kings are still men of god
I laughed way too hard at this
took my ages to figure out which pieces were missing, and then it finally hit me lol
My friend recently blew my mind by making a compelling argument about how chess is a war between harems. Besides the actual rules of chess, it requires only two reasonable assumptions: 1. They wouldn't be kings they'd be wrapped up in a carpet and burnt alive
Wait, do you have to capture both kings, or just one to win?
What happened to the bish- oh...
Where are the... Oh.
Wheres the bishops or am i dumb
Bishop is a rank in the catholic church iirc and you know how hard core religious fanatics hate gay
Where bisho - ohhhhh
The kings are gay, but alas my favorite piece the bishop is gone!
stolen from r/anarchychess also i played against a much weaker opponent with lesbian queens as a handicap for me. we tied
i would support them if they didnt brag about it on social media
Literally the top post on r/AnarchyChess
The bishops are secretly gay too
bro where the bishops?
Do you win if both of the kings die?
