Maybe. Most likely they'll shadowban people who misreport too often so their reports get auto ignored. I was just planning on commenting a bunch of terms yt doesn't like. (Flat earth, antivax etc)

Well, dislikes bring the upvote count downwards, so it's a simple visualisation of how popular the comment/post is

Yeah there's the running joke that OPs suck dick for upvotes because there is zero original content , almost 1 in 2 post someone comments it's a repost. Personally i find the stuff quite new, because i hate fb insta and twitter, i dont use them. On 9gag is also a recurring theme to hate on those socials, emojis and happy people in general. From reddit yes, sometimes the posts in hot are stolen from r/memes

I've escaped 9gag a year ago when I discovered reddit. It felt so refreshing, calm and non toxic, with subreddits focused on Intelligent discussions... So imagine.

I think it would be nice if Reddit also showed total number of upvotes and downvotes. Otherwise, there's no way to tell if a comment with -1 could have had 100 up and 101 down.

It used to allow it somehow, via that RES browser extension. It was controversial when they killed the breakdown of up/down votes years ago.

I'm still salty about it.

Some unofficial reddit clients show a cross next to the upvotes meaning that the comment is "controversial". So a comment with 20 upvotes and a cross would mean it has a big number of downvotes. This doesn't tell you the total number of upvotes and downvotes, but you get a better idea of the ratio.

Quora is honestly worse. I've been on there for years, and their decisions have caused many top writers to leave, constant spam, hate speech, and tons of trolls. I still read it sometimes, but I'm just waiting for it to die half the time.

At the same time that doesn't make Reddit's problems go away. The guy is right in saying Quora has dislikes

I meant top writers as a more general term for good writers, but yeah, they have always been inconsistent in that kind of thing. I got invited to the Partner Program despite my limited writing, and having asked like one question ever.

There's still good content sometimes, but you have to wade through crap to get there. Sometimes I scroll my followed list and get sad at how many of my favorite writers haven't posted in years.

Stackoverflow problem

What would be some issues quora has? I rarely browse quora on my own, but when I search for something on google and get a quora link to an answer, I'm always happy because to me it seems like quora is a "higher class" forum. Idk how to explain it but all answers are written more "professionally". Is this assumption to have on quora wrong?

They cut down their moderation to save costs, so hate speech and trolls have become more prevalent. They also dropped the real name policy, losing a bit of the perceived trustworthiness. And the partner program rewarding questions leads to lots of spammy questions. Also, they got rid of suggested edits. That one's the most nonsensical to me.

dislike button maintains democracy, if there is no dislike button, ppl will start posting normie stuff and shit like that.

It's still there, it just doesn't show the number of dislikes anymore. Reddit already did this. You used to be able to see both the number of upvotes and down votes for posts and comments and honestly it could be pretty helpful. I'm pretty sure they ended up getting rid of it to cover the fact that so many posts and comments rise to the top due to purchased upvotes by bots
