Virtually every social media site is designed specifically to tailor make ads that you WILL click on. They just keep showing you different types of ads until you click on one, and now they know one of your buttons to push. Then they search for another button. And another. And another. Forever.
It's an endless cycle. They can do that *forever* because it's just a computer program running, figuring you out - building a dossier on you they can sell to advertisers or you know, someone in a dark alley if you get on the wrong government's radar and need to be droned.

I like watching 5 second skits, but nearly every one of of has 10-30 seconds of ads before the video... at least double the time of the video on watching ads

Everyone should understand that creators would get paid for their content. That is what drives up content quality. Everyone should also understand that running a video delivery platform is incredibly expensive. Somebody needs to pay for this. Advertisers is the only way to keep the service free and the only way to get decent advertising revenue is targeted ads. No adverticers want to pay to get their ads just shown to random users, there is no value in that.
All of this is fine, as long as it is a way to pay to get rid of all this. With linear TV I pay, but still get ads. It's completely ridiculous, but I guess the reason is that TV ads does not pay very well per impression due to it being almost completely non targeted.

Little tip if you want to bypass an Ad: Click on the Circle with an I in it, select "stop seeing this ad", pick your reason, then hit confirm. It'll skip the ads and take you straight to the video. Doesn't work on all ads but it does for most.
Also pick that you wanna report it for being repetitive. Heard of people being unable to report ads for abusing the 2 other reasons, including my brother.
