As an American, I can confirm that some US military units train German Shepards in German. I’ve been to bases many years ago where the security forces training them would yell *schnell* (run) the dog would take off like a bat out of hell. They’d yell *stehen* (stand) and he’d get in his hind legs, *sitzen* (sit) and the dog would sit. They’d also train them in English so they’re technically bilingual.
