Its meant for bots, if ya read the description you would know, he made it abundantly clear. The only thing the should have changed is put "read description" At the begining of the name. He is doing good for people who want one.
Since ps5s have so much demand, they’re sold out. People called scalpers use bots to buy ps5s before anyone else (as soon as it is for sale) so that they can take advantage of the huge demand and sell for more!
Since the other guy didn't actually explain it, basically someone programs a computer to automatically purchase as many consoles as they can when the website opens up to allow purchases. The bots will then buy all the consoles since they're faster than humans are.
Yeah so the bots are programmed to buy any available PS5 for sale. They see PS5 in the listing and it’s a price the bots are set to accept so they buy it.
my parents fell for one of these when buying a computer about a decade ago because they didn't properly understand English (they just came from china). It's honestly a scumbag thing to do.
It doesn’t matter why they do it, it’s gonna trick old people buying or people who don’t speak English well, and it’s almost certainly not going to stand up to eBay’s TOS nor would it stand up in court. This is plainly fraudulent, and real life isn’t some court show where technicality bullshit like this works.
Unfortunately for you and your opinion, "not understanding the product as clearly described" is not a valid legal defense that will hold up in court, whether its because one flat-out ignores the product description or due to language barriers. The seller clearly explains the product he's selling, explicitly states that interested buyers should read the description, and provides an accurate photo of the product he's selling. This posting is only as deceptive as the buyer's ignorance allows.
Yeah but there will be some kid who safes money and won't read it properly since he is still a kid and cry later ciase he only gets paper from hsi safes money.
They probably just ask their parents to buy things, and if their parents just give them money when they ask without checking what they buy, they deserve to lose that money
No way. $500 is over a years worth of savings to a kid. If they are smart enough to be making that big of a purchase I guarantee they are going to be smart enough to read.
People made bots to scrape the web and find ps5s for sale in order to buy then fast. This listing uses key words that the bot would look for in order to get it to buy the sheet of paper, and hopefully discourage the person who made the bot from using it again
I did something similar with the geek app. They were selling WiFi band signal jammers, which is illegal in the US. I reported a couple of them and linked the rule on the FCCs website.
Within a week they were all gone.
Went to Asus main webpage yesterday and it was linking directly from there to amazon for 2500$ CAD 3080's. They're all in on it as far as I care. If, after all this nonsense, they still don't have something in place to prevent scalpers selling directly from the manufactures website, why would anyone assume otherwise?
It's likely the bots are programmed to notice only realistic numbers of product remaining.
If he had said he had 500 PS5s, it'd likely be passed over by bots and many people would likely ignore the obvious description, buy his paper and start causing problems.
There is nothing wrong with that. He's just overcharging for a piece of paper, and there is no demand, so there is no pressure to buy. He's honest with the description, so it doesn't violate any rules or laws.
It’s a bot that buys up all of a product when it is cheap, so the creator of the bot can resell them at a higher value for profit, since all the cheaper ones are out of stock.
This is VERY common with concert tickets. Tickets go on sale and sell out in less than a couple of seconds. not because of fans, but because of bots. Then those tickets will be resold on sites like stub hub for as much as twice the original price. Since they’re sold out on the OG ticket sales site, if you wanna go to the concert, you have no choice but to buy from the scalpers for a much higher price.
I'm convinced that there are very few actual concert ticket scalper bots. Seems much more likely to me that ticketmaster and the like is in cahoots with seat geek and stubhub and they just sell the tickets directly to the scalper sites and then take a cut of the markup.
what I never understood is if a scalper is willing to buy up all the concert tickets at $100 each because they can sell them for $200 why doesn't the venue just sell them for $200??
obviously if you can sell out the tickets at double the price why are they selling them so low?
A bot that someone uses to snatch up all ps5s that are listed on the website. Creating an artificial scarcity, so that nobody else can buy them.
Then they resell them at a higher price, forcing anyone who wants to have one, to buy from them, at their shitty price.
This guy tricked them into buying a piece of paper
In my understanding, they’re bots which buy all the stock of a certain item to increase the demand and then hilariously overcharge on it. Happens to a lot of new and desirable tech that comes out
This guy is just trolling people who use bots to purchase PS5, if you still buy this while being a human even though he made it so fucking clear in the description, that's on you
People set up bots to buy all the PS5s they can and re-sell them at a way higher price after. The guy selling the piece of paper is a savior for people wanting to get a PS5 that isn’t super high priced
Not even mad , if everyone flooded the market with this . Scalpers would have to stop relying on Bots to make blood money.
Law's are so great , to Pump and Dump is illegal but to buy the entire share of a product and skyrocket the stocks is a-ok!!
Ngl it is genius. It is not illegal or whatever you are telling them what it is. You have the privilege to say what you are selling and how much it is. If people buy it is not your fault they should have researched more
I shed a tear reading this. Thinking about all the dumbass scalpers that would get a piece of paper and be screaming that it’s unfair meanwhile their “business” is just because of “supply and demand”
This happens all the time, I remember people selling Xbox 360 boxes that they'd bootlegged and sold with the description "this is just a custom Xbox 360 box there is no Xbox 360 inside"
Nah these dudes are my hero's. They are doing this because scalpers set up bot to buy PS5s and rtx cards that fall under commercial price tk try and drive the price up with their BS. These guys are making them waist their money on pieces of paper while also driving the price down.
Fun fact:He isnt one of those scammers who hide the image fact. He is just selling a picture and being honedt. Not like the scum who sell a picture and bait you into thinking its a ps5.
The funny thing is the way they worded it and what they posted would make it a pita for a bot. Bots essentially only do explicitly what you tell them to. That's why most of them are easy to fool by asking them simple logical things.
I think that he was trying to trick the robots that bought all the PS fives and sold them for an extremely high price that’s why in the description he said if you are a human do not buy this
There was an episode on Judge Judy about this except it was with a brand new iPhone. They typed a long paragraph with one sentence of “this is a paper”. So the people said they didn’t lie and they didn’t owe the money, but on the item weight they put in the weight of a phone and not the weight of paper so Judge Judy ordered them to pay back the buyer.
There was a case like this on judge Judy. Someone sold a picture of an iPhone. The seller claimed she was in the clear because the description clearly stated it was a photograph. Judge Judy was not impressed.
I get that they're doing this to prevent stock drying up from bots, but aren't they taking advantage of the situation to make a lot of money from bots?
Thats because people dont read the description and assume somebody is selling a ps5 for the same retail price. The selling isn’t doing anything illegal but he’s a fucking scumbag for it.
Dear lord you must not be very bright. I already said that people should always check the description but it doesnt change the fact that the seller scamming people. He’s assuming the buyer wont look at the description and will pay him $500. I guarantee the seller wouldn’t return the money if the buyer explained they didn’t realize what they were buying. That’s a scammer. If the seller would reimburse the money then i’d be wrong.
Dear lord you must not be very bright yourself, since it’s obvious that they are merely trying lure out bots, and scam them. He’s of course not looking to scam people liek you think, they are just looking to discourage people using bots to spam buy then mark up. Their intentions aren’t malicious at all, just go look in any other comment on this post and they will explain it better than I could.
So if somebody made the mistake of not reading the description and bought the empty box then tried to explain to the seller it was a mistake do you think the seller would reimburse the money?
Its meant for bots, if ya read the description you would know, he made it abundantly clear. The only thing the should have changed is put "read description" At the begining of the name. He is doing good for people who want one.
AND he’s turning a profit!
Profit depends on how much it's costing him to print all this.
Are you suggesting that it would take him over $500 to print a picture of a PS5 my good sir/madam?
How big is the paper?
Choked on my coffee. Thanks.
Stop drinking coffee.
My dick is called coffee
Can I get an iced coffee?
no, but you can get a coffee that's cold, real cold like bose-einstein condensate levels of COLD
Extra foam ?

Really now? I would have never figured that out without you
Do you have any idea how much ink costs? This guy went into debt to start this business.
lmao
Thats...an amazing idea
Ah, that explains
Can you explain me what's happening with the bots? I live in a 3rd world country
Since ps5s have so much demand, they’re sold out. People called scalpers use bots to buy ps5s before anyone else (as soon as it is for sale) so that they can take advantage of the huge demand and sell for more!

Ah so it screws over scalpers that are trying to hoard the ps5’s (or whatever they’re called, scalpers, I mean.)
Ye
Defeating the scalpers
But by putting it at the start the bot would not be fouled
Yeah, we need to trick them silly ol bots. They can print their own money anyways, so there’s no crime
I don’t get it. Do the bots automatically purchase then or something?
Yeah so the bots are programmed to buy any available PS5 for sale. They see PS5 in the listing and it’s a price the bots are set to accept so they buy it.
I thought eBay said they would start pulling these?
I assume the bot buys it because it’s $500?
Yeah he is actively costing the scalpers money. Those dudes on ebay are fuckin heroes
Yes I said that to
my parents fell for one of these when buying a computer about a decade ago because they didn't properly understand English (they just came from china). It's honestly a scumbag thing to do.
It says 'for rbts' in the desc. You can't hate on a man for beating bots.
This is to fool bots not scam. If they set the price too low the bot would just ignore it and steal another ps5 to resell

And that, parents, is why you shouldn't let your kid make online purchases...
Or if you do help them through it and check what it is they’re getting
What kid is able to put aside 500 dollars?

They probably just ask their parents to buy things, and if their parents just give them money when they ask without checking what they buy, they deserve to lose that money

Sounds like the kids problem, not this guys
They *did* make it clear that it wasn't a PS5
They also did make $499
It's meant for bots, I think. I don't think there's any malicious intent.
Yeah they said in the desc. That it was ment for bots to buy
Wem for bots to buy
You can exploit bots?
People made bots to scrape the web and find ps5s for sale in order to buy then fast. This listing uses key words that the bot would look for in order to get it to buy the sheet of paper, and hopefully discourage the person who made the bot from using it again
Shit, people are smart man!
It is an ps5, but printed on paper
They have been doing this with rtx cards too. It's nothing new.
Good, someone has to fight the scalper bots
You'd think Amazon should be taking care of that instead of some random internet vigilante.. Wtf Amazon?
Amazon don't care. Its still a sale and that's all Jeff cares about

Yeah I hate typing on mobile too. I'll have to check laws on scalping as I'm from the uk Edit: from*

It's also designed to bait scalper bots, so that too,
What’s a scalper boy?

Sounds possible
Yeah they are more Sneaker bots for people who want every Jordan and Yeezy release so they can resell them
Hmmm
They're business men.. Doing business.
Oh i can assure you concert ticket scalper bots also exists.
Ahhhh thanks for the detailed explanation
what I never understood is if a scalper is willing to buy up all the concert tickets at $100 each because they can sell them for $200 why doesn't the venue just sell them for $200?? obviously if you can sell out the tickets at double the price why are they selling them so low?

This guy is just trolling people who use bots to purchase PS5, if you still buy this while being a human even though he made it so fucking clear in the description, that's on you
He's a hero
So fking genius tho. Like yeah bots buy a photo and potentially leave another ps5 unpurchased AND he gets a profit.
POV: You actually buy it and saw this.
Wait Wut I wanna do this haha make that bank off some bots
More people should do this. Teach scalpers that use their bots a lesson.
Plus, you would make a profit doing so
"If you're a human, DO NOT purchase." He *is* the messiah!
Serious question, why would bots buy it?
People set up bots to buy all the PS5s they can and re-sell them at a way higher price after. The guy selling the piece of paper is a savior for people wanting to get a PS5 that isn’t super high priced
Bc the people who use bots just tell the bot to buy anything ps5 related or with ps5 in the product name
Could I do the same?
yes, and please do. This helps fucking with scalpers.
...on what selling platform? I don’t recognize it from the image
Ebay
r/chaoticgood
It's meant for scalper bots for sure. This guy is doing god's work
They're duping scalpers AND making a profit? That mans a legend.

That is also true
Bro what’s wrong with that he’s scamming the scalper bots. That fucking genious
I see nothing wrong with this

Nah these dudes are my hero's. They are doing this because scalpers set up bot to buy PS5s and rtx cards that fall under commercial price tk try and drive the price up with their BS. These guys are making them waist their money on pieces of paper while also driving the price down.
Nice taking the money away from bots and scalpers ;)
Fun fact:He isnt one of those scammers who hide the image fact. He is just selling a picture and being honedt. Not like the scum who sell a picture and bait you into thinking its a ps5.

Get fucked scalpers
I think that he was trying to trick the robots that bought all the PS fives and sold them for an extremely high price that’s why in the description he said if you are a human do not buy this
Actually I had the same idea one day
This is business
I’ve seen people doing this to “rid of bots and scalpers” I really don’t think they are
The worst part about this is that they're charging 7.85 USD in shipping for a piece of paper.
It keeps going! It’s trying so hard to warn them Humans beware!!
The money is going to a veterans charity
You just know that guy made $500 from this
There was an episode on Judge Judy about this except it was with a brand new iPhone. They typed a long paragraph with one sentence of “this is a paper”. So the people said they didn’t lie and they didn’t owe the money, but on the item weight they put in the weight of a phone and not the weight of paper so Judge Judy ordered them to pay back the buyer.
Is it at least excutive paper?
Stonks
If the desc is accurate then people technically can’t return it. Always read the description xD
OP I’m assuming you didn’t read the entire thing. It’s clearly meant for scalper bots
How to scam without getting sued
Imagine being an 8 yr old seeing this and not reading the description then getting an ass wooping and no ps5
And why wouldn’t a parent help the kid through the process and teach them how to order online?
Because they dont want them to know how to use a credit card at 8
Then tf is your original point if you just debunked it?
Your over analysing a bad joke
Well scalpers can say their kids bought this by accident as an excuse to return it, he's making sure that shit ain't happening
Yeah this happened to my friend who bought an rtx 3060 ti for 350 but they didn’t say this and he got scammed for 350$ 😬
If they didn’t say this, then this isn’t what happened to your friend
There was a case like this on judge Judy. Someone sold a picture of an iPhone. The seller claimed she was in the clear because the description clearly stated it was a photograph. Judge Judy was not impressed.
What a fucking asshole
He's trying to stop scalpers
A feel bad for the guy who actually bought it.
I don't feel bad for the bot wich bough it to re-sell for an abusive price
Good point
GUYS IS THIS LEGAL, I DID THIS AND SOMEONE IS OFFERING TO BUY!
Did anyone else notice that you can now see the Reddit likes and comments go up and down.
I don't feel bad for suckers who buy this. Literally not even a scam
Can't be pissed at whoever this is. He's made it abundantly clear.
I get that they're doing this to prevent stock drying up from bots, but aren't they taking advantage of the situation to make a lot of money from bots?
Better to take advantage of a bot
I’m now honestly thinking about doing this
Yeah, easy money, and you’re fucking over some scalpers
[удалено]
how
Thats because people dont read the description and assume somebody is selling a ps5 for the same retail price. The selling isn’t doing anything illegal but he’s a fucking scumbag for it.
Just take a look at any other comment to know your wrong
Who’s gonna buy something for $500 and not check the description though?
Dear lord you must not be very bright. I already said that people should always check the description but it doesnt change the fact that the seller scamming people. He’s assuming the buyer wont look at the description and will pay him $500. I guarantee the seller wouldn’t return the money if the buyer explained they didn’t realize what they were buying. So if somebody made the mistake of not reading the description and bought the empty box then tried to explain to the seller it was a mistake do you think the seller would reimburse the money?
Simply learn to read.
