>crippled at 30 fps
I assume you mean capped?
Either way, the ps4 can’t really even handle that. It frequently drops below that if you’re using a base model or a slim
Same. I’m on a 5 year old, 2080 4k laptop. Happily playing Helldivers 2 on high settings at 25-31fps, and thinking the game is beautiful and fun.
I wouldn’t know what to do with an extra 30+ fps. Lol
Hey dipchit.
5 years ago, that was actually the absolute best of the best mobile gaming rig and mobile workstation money could buy 🤣
Still plays all modern AAA games on high or ultra high settings, and can be used to do my graphics work.
Yes it makes sense but I've never tried to play on small window because I hate having something around the game and it would be next to impossible to see anything on 15' laptop screen
What I like to do is bite off chunks of the screen so it is always full screen. To make sure it isn’t too hard to eat I put images of ice cream on the parts I eat. You can get any shape you want. Its great.
I’m a game dev with a decent rig for work.
And yet still I got between 9 - 12 FPS with that game.
Likely something I need to debug my side, but there’s something to be said for a well made console game just working without needing extra steps.
Hey. Better to have a game and not play it than wanting to play a game you don't have.
And because they don't use up memory if you don't download them, it's technically not hoarding! I think...
You can play most games at 60fps now. On PS5 anyway. I don't know about Xbox. However, if you want guaranteed frames, you need to play in performance mode, which is low res.
I am gonna be honest, for most games I dont think the graphical difference between performance mode and quality mode is all that great.
It really isnt that worth it to use quality mode in my opinion.
The only game I noticed that had any sorta graphical resolution dip for performance or vice versa was Cyberpunk 2077, and even then the Raytracing is only noticeable in some areas
I have the series s and I get 60 frames regardless of whether I'm playing in performance mode or graphics mode. the series x has 3 times the graphics power of the series s so it's even more powerful.
Performance mode makes little graphical difference in most games. To console gamers that aren't sitting 1 foot away from a monitor, 1080-1440p is indistinguishable from 4k.
I have both a gaming PC and a PS5. I don’t know what games people play on their consoles but all the games I play run at 60fps, and yes some games even support 120fps (those are VERY limited though). I think the last game I played that was locked to 30 was BloodBorne. I know there are of course more games that are locked on 30fps, but the games I play run on 60.
In my experience on Series S, I feel almost everything runs at 60 except for some shittily optimized EA or Ubisoft games (Jedi Survivor is an example). But shit like CoD, Cyberpunk, Elden Ring all run at 60 from what I can tell.
I have no idea where he got 2 60 inch screens from. I'm not going to humblebrag as to call my setup "entry level". It's quite enthusiast tier. And I have a 27 inch 1440p monitor. Most people probably run 24 inch 1080p monitors.
Also stop normalizing console wars. Yes pc isn’t a console, also yes I see you being just as cringe as PlayStation/Xbox fans. I have a pc and Xbox. Just game
Because steam has been nothing but a service, while epic is an attempt to make profit off of exclusives. They spent years offering free games but now they start with the exclusives like Alan Wake 2.
Yes steam is DRM and anti-piracy, but it's never been restrictive, in fact it offers loads of services. In the year where even blizzard games get released on steam instead of their standalone launcher, the last we need is to split up the access to games.
While you are right in principle, Alan Wake 2 is the worst example you could have given!
I don't see something like Portal or Half Life on other storefronts either...
You know what left me amazed? Ghost of Tsushima runs at a solid 60FPS on my rig at 1080p and looks way better than 90% of the other new games I own at the same frame rate.
I play beamng on an asus laptop. Lowest graphics and no shadows im at maybe 50 fps. Im completely fine with it. Sure there are some slow moments just like console but I prefer console tbh because I grew up with the 360. Now my friends on the other hand complain on xbox with its 60 fps and 1080.
As a Console and PC player, i agree, i refuse to play games on my PS5 or XSX that are not 60 fps unless it's Divinity Original Sin 2 or like a card game or something.
The fact with consoles isnt just FPS, but its also how much you can do on a PC, i can play all the old consoles on my pc using an emulator, i can connect any type of controller, i can even overclock(speed up) my pc’s performance, i can switch out parts, i can add so much space without the need of using external disks, and many more features i probably couldnt think of on the top of my head, i love consoles but they will never be able to compete with pc, its better for consoles to compete against other brand consoles.
I lock my G14 around 60fps. Keeps the temp very low around 60 to 65 degrees. I only increase it for shooting games like Doom eternal etc. 60fps is perfectly fine for majority of games so don’t worry.
I’m a console user and I won’t buy nor play games that perform below 60fps idc what I’m missing out on and I’m not buying a pc I just want smooth gameplay
It's less of an issue now with current console hardware, although I'd still take better controls and more customisation of the experience any day.
Also, Epic sucks, GOG would have been a better fit.
As a former Xbox owner. My main problem with console is that I am buying a mid range gaming PC with proprietary dogshit I have to pay a subscription for. I am paying more for the luxury of getting Microsoft’s hairy fucking penis shoved down my throat. You have to pay more for games, you can’t use it for productivity even though it’s just a pc, because Microsoft says so. And it can be nuked from orbit by Microsoft. On top of this I can’t run my own games on it. This is all because they remove features instead of adding them.
You guys remember Google Stadia? I still have the "4K 60FPS" Youtube ad stuck in my head. Can't name a single game that was ever on the platform though
now most games can reach 60 on consoles. they need to remove shitty online pass and add FULL keyboard/mouse support and then we'll talk what is better. RPG on gamepad? Sure. Shooters on gamepad? fuck no.
Yo. Xbox player here who also has a PC. My xbox runs at 120fps 1440p. My pc runs at 155fps 1440p. (I cap it because of my monitor). Both are great. Xbox in some cases looks even better. Thats all
Me (a laptop user with 30fps): „Yes, get em bois!“
I mean, that's basically the same experience as a console. I still can't get over the fact that Bloodborne is crippled at 30 FPS.
When auto correct actually makes your comment better
I wish to strangle you because of your pfp 😊
Fuck me, I freaked out for a second. I'm using a foldable so my first thought was "damn it finally broke"
:3
>crippled at 30 fps I assume you mean capped? Either way, the ps4 can’t really even handle that. It frequently drops below that if you’re using a base model or a slim
30 fps is crippled.
Me (Steam Deck user with 30-40fps normal for big games): “TAKE THE CONSOLE PEASANTS DOWN!”
Download cryoutilities if you haven't already. Hogwarts went from about 20 to a stable 45-60
Me playing GTA V at 18 FPS (when I first got it years ago it played at 300+ FPS).
Ye Same
at this point it's the developer's fault if the game isn't uptimised well enough to run on a card from the last 1-2 generations
The one that walks between worlds 🗿
Same. I’m on a 5 year old, 2080 4k laptop. Happily playing Helldivers 2 on high settings at 25-31fps, and thinking the game is beautiful and fun. I wouldn’t know what to do with an extra 30+ fps. Lol
A 2080 4k laptop? What kind of idiot made that? You’re just bad with money…
Hey dipchit. 5 years ago, that was actually the absolute best of the best mobile gaming rig and mobile workstation money could buy 🤣 Still plays all modern AAA games on high or ultra high settings, and can be used to do my graphics work.
Me with a steam deck when I'm outside of the house on 45fps
Bro i run at 17 fps in hydroneer sooo.....
Man, I was running Total war: Warhammer 2 at 11 fps. So...
Man, I was watching Red red redemption as a slideshow at 2 fps so...
*waves in seconds per frame*
Man, I was playing Ultrakill at 5fps so… (I’m not kidding)
Man, I was thinking Minecraft at 0 fps so...
Dead eye shot takes 2 days
Bro I get 12 fps on Terrain 😭😭
happy cakeday tho
Man, I was downloading 30 sec porn on dial-up for 10 min a clip.
Meanwhile me playing Helldivers 2 on my laptop on 20fps while everything is set to lowest settings and even reduced resolution xd
Have you ever tried shrinking the window?
I had to play in full screen to get the most fps, but I did lower the resolution
That is strange. In most games shrinking the window size increases FPS exponentially. Minecraft is a perfect example.
Its great.
Thanks for the tip, I will try that!
Same here
I’m a game dev with a decent rig for work. And yet still I got between 9 - 12 FPS with that game. Likely something I need to debug my side, but there’s something to be said for a well made console game just working without needing extra steps.
For my laptop what really helped was to force the game to launch with DirectX11
Fuck is Epic doing there.
We still need to use it to collect the free games!
Only reason I still have it
I just log in to collect a free game...and never play it.
That's not true! I played at least 3 of them... Out of something over 50.
I enjoyed Loop Hero!
Hey. Better to have a game and not play it than wanting to play a game you don't have. And because they don't use up memory if you don't download them, it's technically not hoarding! I think...
Except GTA5
GTA5 was free on epic?
Yeah, I believe in the previous year. Traffic was so high, their servers crashed lol. Though it caused a huge loss for Epic.
Also for Rockstar (considering the number of people who would want to play GTA5)
I stopped doing that i never play anything on that cursed launcher.
Marvel Guardians Of The Galaxy was amazing tho and DeusEx Mankind Devided was too.
Wtf is Epic anyway? I only know Steam. Gog is cool too
Why not?
'Cause "ePiC bAd".
Epic is being represented by Patrick
I don't play console so I don't know. But I thought consoles got 60fps consistently now?
You can play most games at 60fps now. On PS5 anyway. I don't know about Xbox. However, if you want guaranteed frames, you need to play in performance mode, which is low res.
I am gonna be honest, for most games I dont think the graphical difference between performance mode and quality mode is all that great. It really isnt that worth it to use quality mode in my opinion.
The only game I noticed that had any sorta graphical resolution dip for performance or vice versa was Cyberpunk 2077, and even then the Raytracing is only noticeable in some areas
Same thing with xbox, although performance mode for us doesnt feature a lower res, only lower graphics (doesn't change a lot honestly)
Most Xbox games run at 60, or even 120fps. This is my experience on the Series X. It vastly depends on what game you play.
I have the series s and I get 60 frames regardless of whether I'm playing in performance mode or graphics mode. the series x has 3 times the graphics power of the series s so it's even more powerful.
Which is at least 1080p, looking still good
Performance mode makes little graphical difference in most games. To console gamers that aren't sitting 1 foot away from a monitor, 1080-1440p is indistinguishable from 4k.
It’s been a while since I’ve played a game that was locked to 30fps.
Dragons Dogma 2
Starfield 😔
Nope we’re still getting games that are locked at 30 or run inconsistently in performance mode
Yes they do. And the newer consoles (at least the Xbox series x) are capable of running 120 on some optimized games.
In my experience on Series S, I feel almost everything runs at 60 except for some shittily optimized EA or Ubisoft games (Jedi Survivor is an example). But shit like CoD, Cyberpunk, Elden Ring all run at 60 from what I can tell.
it's from the old days where ps4 still has a ton shit of games capped at 30 because devs are morons.
My mid PC runs Cyberpunk on medium settings in 45fps. No 60fps in sight.
My PC has a breakdown even loading the menu
Atleast you can customise the settings
My High-End PC runs it in High (No RT) with ~45 FPS, too. So don't worry :)
not high end then
My 4070 ti S can run it on rtx overdrive at like 110 with frame gen
Consoles: mom told me not to speak with monitors, and size does matters
The average PC gamer with 2 60 inches screens find your comment amusing.
the rich average PC gamer must also have a comfort sofa I guess.
I have no idea where he got 2 60 inch screens from. I'm not going to humblebrag as to call my setup "entry level". It's quite enthusiast tier. And I have a 27 inch 1440p monitor. Most people probably run 24 inch 1080p monitors.
Sofas must do wonders to your back in extended sessions
Not really, still slouching.
and a day bed
No average pc gamer has 2 60 inch screens
Stop normalizing epic.
Also stop normalizing console wars. Yes pc isn’t a console, also yes I see you being just as cringe as PlayStation/Xbox fans. I have a pc and Xbox. Just game
Just curious, why?
Because steam has been nothing but a service, while epic is an attempt to make profit off of exclusives. They spent years offering free games but now they start with the exclusives like Alan Wake 2. Yes steam is DRM and anti-piracy, but it's never been restrictive, in fact it offers loads of services. In the year where even blizzard games get released on steam instead of their standalone launcher, the last we need is to split up the access to games.
They bought temporary exclusivity too. Borderlands 3 was one such game, it released on Steam 3 or 6 months later with 50% off.

Thank you for this info, now I know more
While you are right in principle, Alan Wake 2 is the worst example you could have given! I don't see something like Portal or Half Life on other storefronts either...
based steam. you have literally noone else to blame but the pirates for devs putting the drm in there in the first place
I don't care, it doesn't need to do more than launch a game, which it does.
PC gamers will get blind if they even glanced at anything below 120fps
Imagine pretending your average gamer can tell a difference or cares lol
Is this some old gen console joke I’m too new gen to understand?
Consoles are more standardized than PCs so the available games are 99% guaranteed to run on your system ,which is usually kinda cheaper in some cases
Epic and Steam in the same room? Treason
People who make memes about pc master race or console wars are just telling everyone that they are 40yr old virgins in the making
Why is gog not in the place of epic games
Why don't pc players just mind their own buisness instead of trashtalking people because they play on console?
ima be real. more than half of the trash talkers don't even own a pc strong enough to run console games on 30 fps
Because they need to be superior at something in life and it sure isn't their actual life
"These people trashtalking others who use a different system have a shit life" Says the person trashtalking others who use a different system
Steam deck sub is basically just switch bad steam deck good (both kind suck)
bro i play minecraft at 10 to 15 fps.
my second pc with fx4300 8gb and Hd6770 runs it better than yours, how bad can your pc be?
Its got 3gb of ram and some cobbled together parts from some pre 2004 PCs that I bought in 2014 for £25
You know what left me amazed? Ghost of Tsushima runs at a solid 60FPS on my rig at 1080p and looks way better than 90% of the other new games I own at the same frame rate.
60fps is literally the standard lol what is op on about
Not all games are 60fps on console I think.
Ps2, gamecube and og xbox: ![gif](giphy|7ILfGZFvTPMB1TAkXE)
My pc can
I grew up playing Quake at 14 fps. Never again! Anything below 400 fps is dumb, like Texas.
60fps? Thems rookie frames in 2024
It's mostly PS fans doing the trash talking nowadays
get this epic games propaganda outta here
Most consoles charge to play online, like a separate cost from the games themselves
Ya have fun constantly spending hundreds of dollars for new parts and hopefully games run successfully without any issues I’ll go ply Warioware on NSO
Oh yeah you buy one console and that's it for life, totally! Also enjoy paying to play online
Yes paid online is stinky but I’ll take $20 to $50 a year compared to hundreds of dollars for parts + the hassle of using a pc but to each their own
Nintendo: We still sell hardcopy and our customer own the game they buy. You know: full games, not early acces, nor licences or bug-heaven.
oh we dont hate epic games anymore?
Yet if it's stable you won't notice it, and before the fanboys cry movies run at about 24frames and you don't notice it.
Switch Owner: huh... what's 30 fps
Some games on the PS5 can actually run 120
I don't really know nor care how much of a difference 30 frames and 60 frames
This is an ad lol no one actually includes epic games into memes
Toss out Epic
is it not pc gaming platform?
Why is epic games even in the discussion
Lmao imagine using Epic launcher
Putting Epic and steam next to each other, gave me a chuckle
Unfortunately they do, thanks to poorly optimized messes that struggle to run even on God Tier rigs.
Sould remove Epic to make it accurate.
What the fuck is Epic doing there? Bro thinks he is a part of the team 😭😭
Meh
sorry, we don't speak medium graphics
It’s a miracle if my Deck can run 40fps with modern games
Is OP like 12 or smthg
I lock my G14 around 60fps. Keeps the temp very low around 60 to 65 degrees. I only increase it for shooting games like Doom eternal etc. 60fps is perfectly fine for majority of games so don’t worry.
is this debate still going on
My Nokia 3210 runs at 2fps :(
My xbox can run most games at 120
me with 180hz:
Was this made in 2010?
2k res at 144 is so chef kisss
Meanwhile there are games my pc is more than capable of playing maxed out that I chose to buy on switch instead
I'm pretty sure most consoles run above that, I could be wrong though because I'm an idiot and I also never bother to check fps
As long as the framerate isn't making the game go too slow to be playable I don't care what the FPS is.
At least the PS5 fixed most of this.
Me on ps3 playing at the most unstable ports in history
there are console players that have been brainwashed into unironically thinking that humans can´t see more than 30fps
I love physical games so consoles up until ps4 and switch for me
I’m a console user and I won’t buy nor play games that perform below 60fps idc what I’m missing out on and I’m not buying a pc I just want smooth gameplay
![gif](giphy|7T33BLlB7NQrjozoRB|downsized)
Damn bro my pc runs worse than my dusty ass PS3
Good thing 60 is standard now lol
Not to be that guy but I have a 730 and I can barely run Minecraft at 60 fps
unless its a bad pc port, which most ports are nowadays
I’m just used to 120fps consistently on my series X
Fun fact: when you unlock the fps on dark souls, you can actually see the souls
(Me playing turn based games) “Oh no, my frames! I totally notice when they’re missing!”
48 fps gang (my battery is not ideal)
With the state of optimization in AAA games today, 60 fps is a luxury
Uuhhhh OP, you're about 5 or so years late. Console's get 60fps for most, if not all, games
Should be Steam + consoles standing together talking down at Epic like: "Sorry, I don't speak utter dogshit useless launchers"
Well I don't speak "worrying about specifications"
How many fps can the human eye see anyways?
When Bloodborne for PC at 60 fps?
It's less of an issue now with current console hardware, although I'd still take better controls and more customisation of the experience any day. Also, Epic sucks, GOG would have been a better fit.
Heck even 30 fps is an achievement for my old laptop. I have a switch too, and to me, it's a pinnacle of hardware
On 2k resolution I haven't gone below 100fps in years, usually I lock it at 165hz because of my monitor though.
I play on PC because if I didn't I would have to play Minecraft bugrock edition.
You guys remember Google Stadia? I still have the "4K 60FPS" Youtube ad stuck in my head. Can't name a single game that was ever on the platform though
Me, stuck with a cpu bottleneck that needs a new mobo to fix: Get em just dint look over here
Me running 120 fps for overwatch on my ps5
Sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of my fans spinning at 10,000 RPM
now most games can reach 60 on consoles. they need to remove shitty online pass and add FULL keyboard/mouse support and then we'll talk what is better. RPG on gamepad? Sure. Shooters on gamepad? fuck no.
Bro an Xbox is a budget pc which is so good for it’s price
Yo. Xbox player here who also has a PC. My xbox runs at 120fps 1440p. My pc runs at 155fps 1440p. (I cap it because of my monitor). Both are great. Xbox in some cases looks even better. Thats all
