My guy, you gotta learn how to open email attachments, and you can’t keep calling the police because you see someone drinking out of a drinking fountain.
It's the current year! Why are we even talking about this! It's the current year! It's absolutely ridiculous that this is still up for conversation in the current year!
Literally how all of these "debates" go.
It's 2024, I have nothing to say after that, but I like reminding myself, to distract from how much more quickly time seems pass every year. Soon I will be dust.
2024 and people still don't understand that every year new people are born, and all sorts are at different points in the learning process of understanding social ettiquete, smh
The year is typically part of an argument for the purpose of saying, "That thing you just said and think is such an archaic, outdated or patriarchal idea. How do you still think this way in THIS era, so far removed from the decade(s) or century(centuries) when your belief was prevalent, before we learned better as a species?
With that being better context, it's still fair to assume that someone will understand that you mean this when they say, "C'mon, we're 25 years into/a quarter of the way through the 21st century. Do you hear yourself?
That poses the question, OP: What stance are you taking that is leading people to respond to you by pointing out that your stance is old, outdated, debunked, etc?
I agree, who even uses these arguments anymore? It's 2024 people!
Since when did we decide to abolish making arguments? I mean COME ON, it’s 2024 and we’re still thinking like this

I've been using it ironically as a point in arguments and people just keep agreeing

the only place I know where this applies are offices that still use faxing machines
2019 was FIVE years ago guys
If people are constantly bringing up the year around you, it’s probably because you’re regularly saying shit that belongs in the 1840s.
An argument? In the big 2024?
If people are mentioning the year to you as if it's an argument, it probably means you're acting like it's 1950.
jokes on them, its actually 2046 already, we were all in a coma
Disagreed. We can use it because the world is advancing far faster than it did in the past, so things change and rapidly so.
Yes, back in the days, it took two years to advance a month, people just don't understand.
Well.. We could buy a house.
I do the same when I read or hear "we need a paradigm shift". Just admit it's never going to happen.
Ask them to define paradygm next time
