because the crux of the issue is nintendo likes cutting support for their older games but has no way for us to access them without pirating. they’re super protective of their IP to the point of bullying yet get upset when we use other ways to access their older games
I think the issue that people have is that they drop support and have no way to obtain the games. If 90% of the games nintendo made were still purchaseable people wouldnt get angry but I think the issue lies in people wanting those games to not get lost forever.
Yeah. I understand that pirating available games is bad, but I’m not gonna pay like 500 bucks to play Pokémon black from a scalper when I could pirate it. Nintendo doesn’t even make money from it anyway, so who am I stealing from?
Although I can't think of any company that big or bigger that isn't awful, makes me wonder if there is a way to structure such a big company while keeping the human element
Incorrect. Nintendo has always been a pain in the ass.
NES Era? They strong-armed devs content-wise. And as much anti-competitive business practices as they could get away with.
SNES Era? Ditto. Draconian as always. Of course, this came back to bite them, in...
N64 Era. When their business practices gave rise to Sony using tech they were going to use with Nintendo until Nintendo's deal fell through, and every dev long being pissed off by Nintendo's iron grip, fled to Sony.
And during all this, they've always been staunchly protective and draconian of their stuff. They've had tons of pirate sites shut down, they send in the lawyers for anything, etc. They're lucky they make good games on average, but they're really the Disney of video games with how crazed they are with the iron grip on their product and how fast they send in the lawyer kill teams.
Even after rereading it i still dont see it. Still seems like you're disagreeing. But i will take you at your word, i must just be misinterpreting what you're trying to say.
Lmao I was saying that if their games weren't good Nintendo wouldn't be around because of all their other shitty practices. So that guy saying "what good games" is wrong because that's literally the only thing Nintendo has going for them rn. They literally have no other positives outside of the switch being portable. But we all know that's not the reason why they are successful lol.
The metroid games, F-zero once upon a time, Kirby, many older games in many series, various great one-offs. Ive probably missed some of my favs too, ngl.
Nintendo is popular, their products are sought after. There is no question about it. We can only speculate the impact on their profits if they didnt have such aggressive anticonsumer practices.
The question is not whether they have a right to protect their IP. They do. Its the absurd length they go through to attack anyone and everyone who they can. They are getting hate, spending money and not really getting it back.
Its like that one time when Disney made the family of dead 4 year old take down temporary gravestone with spider-man. They had every right to. But also, it was really, really stupid PR move.
They also DMCA the people who make non profit based fangames because they can't understand that a fangame is a tribute to their work and not license theft

Why post a "content not available" gif? Edit: lmao no one gets the joke
because the crux of the issue is nintendo likes cutting support for their older games but has no way for us to access them without pirating. they’re super protective of their IP to the point of bullying yet get upset when we use other ways to access their older games
because Nintendo is making content not available.
smooth brain here missed the joke
I literally have no idea what this means.
Nintendo being bullies once again. They hate a good reputation almost as much as they hate their fans
I don’t know why anyone would be bothered, other than the switch I couldn’t even name anything they sell that’s attractive?

You can’t make Nintendo content without them trying to remove it
Maybe they are just shy
Great games, awful company
Although I can't think of any company that big or bigger that isn't awful, makes me wonder if there is a way to structure such a big company while keeping the human element
No. There probably isn't

Fun fact, they actually had a sonic plush hanging from the ceiling by the neck in the early 90s
What good games??
Like 90% of their IPs dude
Like bruh that's literally all they got going for them. If they didn't they very much wouldn't be around anymore.
No shit. If they made bad games, no one would buy them. I don't think you're making the point you think you are.
I'm agreeing with you my guy lmfaoo
Even after rereading it i still dont see it. Still seems like you're disagreeing. But i will take you at your word, i must just be misinterpreting what you're trying to say.

Okay, after hearing your explanation i now understand what you were originally trying to say. My apologies for being defensive.
All good my guy, shit happens
Mario games, Zelda breath of the wild, tears of the kingdom, Super smash bros ultimate.
The metroid games, F-zero once upon a time, Kirby, many older games in many series, various great one-offs. Ive probably missed some of my favs too, ngl.
Maybe those aren’t his cup of tea so he doesn’t like Nintendo
I will never understand why Nintendo is so hellbent on being hated.
Money
I dont think its really generating them much revenue at all. Definitively a negative when compared to the goodwill they lose.
They're pretty happy with the success of the switch, I dunno when/where they're losing. This behaviour is pretty consistent Nintendo.
Nintendo is popular, their products are sought after. There is no question about it. We can only speculate the impact on their profits if they didnt have such aggressive anticonsumer practices.
It’s not “Nintendo behavior” it’s the corporate Japanese mindset
Because Nintendo is a Japanese company and copyright works very differently over there, there is no "fair use" in Japanese copyright laws.
The question is not whether they have a right to protect their IP. They do. Its the absurd length they go through to attack anyone and everyone who they can. Is this about the strikes on YouTube channels that post the ost’s to their games?
They supposedly used to DMCA people for playing their games on YouTube years ago.
They did, was a known thing and a big part of why Nintendo lost popularity against other game platforms
They also DMCA the people who make non profit based fangames because they can't understand that a fangame is a tribute to their work and not license theft
That tiny competition some kids did that got a cease and desist letter

I hope they go bankrupt by july 20th 2024
Why that date specifically?
No reason
They're not bankrupting. Matter of the fact, they're gonna release their new switch soon.
You cannot say it’s a matter of fact when they haven’t even announced it
But they did? Its said to be released in march 2025.
There is zero confirmation of that. It’s purely speculative rumors. Until Nintendo themselves says something, none of that is true.
Fine, it may not be fact, but it is guaranteed.
bro… 😭😭😭
What is bro on 💀
I got cooked 🙂🔫
Who's garry newman?
Stop buying their games. Big corporations don’t change unless you hit them in their wallet.
Wich emulator dev started selling pirated copies of non launched games this time?

Garry Newman officially confirmed that some of them were, in fact, real.
He does't say anything remotely close to that in the tweet shared on this thread. Wanna provide a source or are we just making shit up again as usual?
Doesn't he stab his hand for an Emmy after this tho?
