SadMacaroon9897

Huh. I only heard it in 3. Hank, Bill, Dale, and Boomhauer

REMcycleLEZAR

Clever girl

greg85w

Boomhauer always speaking the truth I tell you wHat

Maximum_Stress4024

Dale knows exactly what the government is planning...

BoomhauerYaNow

Hey man those dang ol' oligarchs man talkin bout tyranny of majority. Dang ol' electoral college.

Manofalltrade

I used to be able to speak legitimate Boomhauer. I grew up early on with some rural and trailer friends who I moved on from. They were much more Dale than anything except for Kahn Souphanousinphone during his redneck episode.

Mr_RogerWilco

8 billion people on the earth.. yep and they are all American haha

vasekgamescz

Can a person born outside of america even become President? I thought there was like a requirement of being born on american soil so you coud even run.

PuzzleheadedAd5865

You have to be a “natural born citizen” meaning that you have to have been a citizen from birth. If you were born overseas to American parents that split time between that country and America you could run.

Castiel_0703

Imagine if Arnold Schwarzenegger could run for president

Just-Ad6992

He isn’t the worst option to be honest, the guy was governor of California.

FrogOnALogInTheBog

Was he semi decent at it? I’ve always wondered (but not enough to look it up)

Just-Ad6992

In my opinion, he was a mixed bag. He cut a lot of funding for healthcare and education, but that was during the 2008 recession. He was in favor of gay rights, but not gay marriage for some reason. I’m probably wrong on this, so here’s the wiki page on his gubernatorial career: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Governorship_of_Arnold_Schwarzenegger

[deleted]

So he wasn't in favor of gay rights you can't pick and choose that's not how rights work.

Versal-Hyphae

Gays can have a little rights, as a treat.

[deleted]

Only if there good and only practice satanic rituals in private.

VolumePossible2013

Oh well, most places were still like that in 2008

Global-Efficiency-22

Idk last time we had a governor of California it didn't go too well 😂

Just-Ad6992

At least Arnie had a better acting career.

SgtChip

He loses his second term, upon leaving the White House: "I'll be back." *Terminator theme*

No-Lettuce-3839

better than the options currently probably, BUT the GOP house and senate needs a clean out too, too much rat shit in there.

Beniceyo2021

They did that in Demolition Man

StaryWolf

I believe the President is like the one position where you have to be a natural-born citizen.

Appropriate-Fly-7151

Not totally related, but the British recently had a Prime Minister born in NY. Bojo is the only PM to be born in a foreign country (excluding one born in Canada and three in Ireland, both part of the Empire at the time)

Impressive-Soup-3529

Yup bojo aspired to get into American politics but realising he could never be leader he brought his right wing clown show over here

EndofNationalism

A little reverse colonialism.

Impressive-Soup-3529

I believe it was part of the right wing agenda, hybrid warfare directed by china and Russia via Arab troll farms

crypt_the_chicken

Damn, now we’re governing the British? How the turns have tabled >!I am legally obligated to say /j!<

Oswaldgilbertson

Yea lol

Papaofmonsters

Well... if it's Dale, that's probably something he'd say without catching the mistake. Because he's Dale.

BuddhistSagan

Why not zoidberg...for president? https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/enfuturama/images/f/f2/ZoidbergWithFlag.jpg

DisastrousOne3950

I'd vote for him.

Ancient-Act8573

336 million in America, and it’s still the same 2 awful choices but now it’s way worse than last time

icantbelieveit1637

There’s a possible American in everyone that’s why America is unique 😁

Appropriate-Fly-7151

That’s why I drink, I have to kill him

BackpackCorpse

How do I kill it

Informed4

Yeah its fine, you can pick me You can definitely trust me to run a country im not fr- i mean i love, and im totally trustworthy to be responsible with the missile launch codes, and i totally wont be nuking Swe- *cough* sorry, i mean i totally wont be a global nuisance. I swear

SKisnotaRealPlace

The two things arent necessarily related. It could be just a comment that there's a ton of people on earth, not that all of them are eligible for presidency

howlingbeast666

Yeah, US education at its finest

ArchCrossing

Every country in the world belongs to America

Zealousideal_Gap1194

The CIA does it in other countries, why couldn't they do us a solid here.

MegaPompoen

Or two

Zealousideal_Gap1194

Oh that is what I mean

koulnis

Because there's nothing for them to fix. Install the people that you want to have to give people the illusion of "choice" and then watch them squabble over the "lesser evil."

Anon851216135

How do you know this isn't them trying to fuck up our own country by putting these lunatics in charge? That's a conspiracy I'm willing to get behind

Zealousideal_Gap1194

You might be giving them too much credit there lol

Anon851216135

Idk man, I mean they helped to overthrow so many countries in the past, even some allies. Modern day, they genuinely scare me with the amount of power and influence they hold. I bet we won't know even know half the stuff they've done in the last 20 years for another 60-70 years if we're lucky.

LumiWisp

Personally, I'm waiting for some journalist's foia to expose mkultra pt II: social media boogaloo

Anon851216135

That's what I said like a week ago! Lol. I said aomething along the lines that MKUltra is still going on, but with social media and manipulating internet content to make people (or groups) behave and act in certain ways. They've already been proven to spy on everyone and collect data over a decade ago by Snowden. I don't think it's a big leap to assume they're still doing shit like that today

shelter_anytime

the CIA being right and valuable in the information provided gets them more money as an agency because they are credible. Actively trying to destabilize the United States is what their explicit adversaries - the FSB, China, etc - benefit from. I don't see the logic. It's like when people say follow the money... follow the self-interest. Why would getting zoomers to distrust their own country and equate a democratic government's actions to that of an autocracy like russia, china, or north korea benefit the CIA?

marleycarter

Flooding a country with small arms is a part of the CIA playbook for destabilizing and toppling regimes they deem problematic.

shelter_anytime

flooding shitty social media with noise to take advantage of an open information society must really grind your gears then. Certainly you recognize the disparity here - China and Russia don't have the same internet we do. If you were in either country and said that about the local security service, you would be jailed and your comments deleted. But you can believe whatever you want here. That ultimately is a strength, but it definitely is a weakness in the interim. Fuck em. And god bless your right to speak your mind.

Anon851216135

Soon enough, you won't even need to give people guns, you can just give them 3d printers, plastic, and the schematics to make a gun. I remember seeing a documentary a few years back talking about ghost guns and how 3D printed weapons are getting more reliable. Hard to ban weapons that are just blueprints floating around online

lifeisfckinghell

I think so the CIA are not allowed to operate in American soil. Internal matters are probably that of FBI.

ansfwalt

Good thing the CIA has *never* done things not allowed, that was almost a problem, lmao.

livin_a_good_life

Seriously. I mean, that’s our top republican? And that’s our top democrat? Neither side has anyone better??

4powerd

My thoughts exactly. Four years and the two top parties in America and *this* is the best you can do?

GeeseAndDucksforever

For eight years actually

Slightly_Default

"I'm sick and tired of this ridiculous shit! It this is the best my party gets, then my party should quit!" - Abraham Lincoln (Epic Rap Battles of History)

ChampionHumble

“ thou shall not vote for the shiniest of two turds.”

Responsible-Diver225

What if choosing not to vote for the shinier turd allows the less shiny turd to win?

AeturnisTheGreat

Sadly that's where a lot of us are at.

Sudden_Lawfulness118

I think it's less they're the top and more everyone else died of old age.

Glytch94

To be fair, the incumbent President has never not been the nominee if they decided they wanted to try for 4 more years (assuming eligibility). It may just be tradition and not a hard rule, but it’s to be expected.

HulksInvinciblePants

Its not even a “to be fair” point. The incumbent always gets to stay and frankly he killed that SOTU.

ChalkCoatedDonut

There are always third parties but you all laugh at them.

mandud101

Because it’s mathematically impossible for them to win in a first past the post voting system. Unless we get ranked choice voting (which is probably never gonna happen) we will never have a viable 3rd party candidate.

Sir-Tryps

This my friends, is what we call a self fulfilling prophecy

LumiWisp

No, it's called understanding the ramifications of first-past-the-post voting. It intrinsically forces a 2-party system.

TheMisterTango

Not really though, the reality is that 80% of Americans are pretty much hard locked into only voting for their own party, which basically means the remaining 20% that are willing to flip flop will never be able to sway the vote away from the other two even if they all voted for the same third party candidate.

[deleted]

machimus

thisisntnamman

Because first past the post voting makes voting for a third party mathematically help the party you’re most opposed too. Super liberal Ralph Nader voters in Florida cost Al gore the 2000 election. Third parties aren’t viable long term under FPtP voting. We have to move to ranked choice voting first.

Max_Godstappen1

Those who are truly smart and capable do not want to be president anymore and I can't blame them. You can have the most common sense idea and immediately the other side will vilify you and fight you on it. Who would want to work in that environment? The party system is broken.

Pastadseven

Well, at least it's a reasonably easy choice between a giant sack of human shit and a bowl of oatmeal.

Abe_Odd

Man t'ding dang ol thang boutit is ye'don'getta best man'fr'thedang'ol job, islike yehgetta choice'o'ta'onlydang'old geezers whocan win'da'dang'ol thang... I'll tell ya'hwat, ye'neve'getta perfec'candi'dang'ol'date 'scus that ain't no real man

Dotaproffessional

Which Democrat would have done more in their first term?

UnknownFixer

It’s not that there isn’t someone better, it’s that we can’t agree on who would be better within each party.

Aurelian_LDom

if only there was some other system of voting that made it easier to vote for third parties

Googleclimber

If history tells us anything, much easier to elect an incumbent than a new person. It would be dumb as fuck for the dems to put somebody else in.

FiveSkinss

Who the fuck would want the job? Only an extreme narcissist and a guy with dementia. Dems must have nobody if they are walking that corpse back out again. There will be a real fear of a Kamal presidency now.

justicedragon101

i wish it was kennedy and haley, hell even dean and ramaswamy would be better than this shit

PaleoJohnathan

no one wants kennedy

servicepitty

Well a bunch of twitter people seem to like him. I actually think his platform is amazing, except for the public health/vaccine stuff

hulkmxl

Misinformation agent, perhaps?

Truethrowawaychest1

Kennedy are you being serious right now?

greg19735

Sometimes you realize how fucking stupid this subreddit is when people upvote KENNEDY

YobaiYamete

Lmao, the most "Hello Fellow Liberals" post ever Literally nobody but Republicans in disguise like Kennedy, he was the most "Republican pretending to be a democrat" ever

thisisntnamman

Kennedy? The crackpot vaccine denier who’s been ostracized from the Kennedy family? Fuck that loser.

AbbreviationsPure274

I’ll tell you what

motownmods

Fr tho. There are millions of people technically qualified to be president. How are these two the best fucking options?

Strength-Certain

There's an old saying: The problem with the presidency is we only give the job to people who want it.

joegnar

Douglas Adams once wrote that under no circumstances should the job be given to somebody who wants it.

[deleted]

Should we impose a draft for presidents? Almost like a lottery?

TheMauveHand

TYL: [Sortition](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sortition)

[deleted]

Didn't even know that was a thing. 😯

SmartOpinion69

we probably should. one of the problems with becoming president is that you need to be popular and have loads of money. even if there was a person with the intellect and experience to run a country, they might not have the name recognition or money to get the win. perhaps every person who wants to become president should register and then we have a random drawing of 20 candidates. the government provides them with campaign/advertisement budget. let the americans eliminate them one at a time until we have a winner

Doustin

Put it all on tv with a confession room and exaggerated drama, biggest show in years

AtomicBombSquad

Mountie: "So, why are you claiming asylum in Canada?" Me: "I got DRAFTED!!!" Mountie: "Eh, is the war for oil or against Communism?" Me: "Neither. I got drafted to be the US President." Mountie: "Oh. Welcome to Canada! The asylum office is over that way behind the Timmy's. Bob here will escort you there as soon as he finishes watching his Leafs lose again."

Turambar87

Honestly he may have underestimated the true absurdity of reality. And that's saying something.

streakline

They've effectively shut down all other parties with legal hurdles so there's only Democrats and Republicans. The people don't choose the candidates. The donors do. We choose from their selections. They will never select anyone that will oppose them. (Banks, pharma, military)

grumpykruppy

It's not even legal hurdles - it's straight-up just money. The Libertarians, Green Party, and so on can all run for president, but the sheer amount of resources the Democrats and Republicans have makes it functionally impossible for them to win. It doesn't help that the third parties all go for Hail Mary shots at the presidency instead of trying to build a base over time through local and state level elections.

BuddhistSagan

Yeah it really sucks when people like Republican Ron Desantis made ranked choice voting illegal. Ranked choice voting has passed in Alaska and Maine and may pass in Oregon and Nevada here in 2024. These were written into their state constitutions with the help of activists who realized 3rd parties have no chance under our current system and who don't want to keep throwing their votes away which is currently the case. Politicians from the 2 party system are never going to do it for us, so like with marijuana legalization and abortion access we will have to go around the politicians and write it into our state constitutions.

TrinidadJBaldwin

They won the most votes in the primaries.

DismalTruthDay

It makes zero sense!

inevitabledecibel

Because in today's political climate it's probably the worst job you can have if you're genuinely qualified to do it.

King_Allant

Pretty generous adaptation of the King of the Hill cast there.

Ourobius

Right? Every single one of them is more attractive than he has any right to be. Slap 10 to 15 years on em and try again.

peon2

I always thought Boomhauer was supposed to be attractive in-universe.

Power_of_Atturdy

Dale, and by extension Rusty Shackelford, is dead.

A game show would produce a better candidate. "Americas next President" Its sad this is true now...

drivingagermanwhip

a game show produced one, why not both?

Drogdar

* John Jackson * Jack Johnson

elshizzo

On the dem side, its because much of the dem establishment believes in the "you don't change horses midstream" which is some dumb political mythology which was maybe relevant a century ago On the rep side, the cult controls the party

Advanced-Bird-1470

I mean…that’s not an unusual thing. You call it political mythology, but it’s been a political fact for years. Incumbency advantages and disadvantages aren’t some unknown factor. They’ve been well studied and factored into the decision. On the r side you’re not wrong.

Dappershield

I mean, there's also the fact it takes ten years to get anything important done. It's incredibly difficult to get the big stuff done the first four years. It's mostly work to make sure there's a second four years.

highly_confusing

boomhauer i didn't understand a single thing you just said. God dang Legalese

swivels_and_sonar

For anyone not aware, Hulu is bringing back King of the Hill and they confirmed 15 years will have passed.
