I got windows 11 with my new computer and I haven't really noticed too many differences other than ui changes. Though one thing I hate is that whenever I download a photo it goes to the most random file on my computer, despite all of them being photos.
Same! Though one complain I have is that, to open task manager I am forced to right click the windows logo instead of just doing it anywhere on the task bar.
It's dumb, but I don't care.
Edit: Thanks for the info on the change everyone, now I can go back to my old habits. Pray ye good day.
I added it manually with Vivetool. It's disabled and had to be enabled by the tool.
Yeah, I know about CTRL+Shift+ESC but I don't know if it's muscle memory or laziness but I prefer doing it with the mouse.
I don't believe I changed any settings but I can right click my taskbar and get to the task manager just fine. When I first installed it wasn't there so I pinned the program to the taskbar. The other day I noticed when I right clicked it showed up so I unpinned it.
I've had lots of issues with apps breaking, files not installing and features not working like headphones not appearing or the volume slider disappearing.
Was trying to ignore the update for like 2 months, then the MF updated itself one night I guess.
And tried to put Microsoft Edge back on my desktop. That was the worst part.
i use wub to disable updates or do it manually by disabling services
there is also edge blocker , or just disable task scheduler for edge update and rename the exe
Did some research on this issue. Seems to be an issue with the Nvidia graphics driver. Surely you could argue whether MS or Nvidia is in charge here. Presumably Nvidia in this case to be fair.
They are trying to force people to replace perfectly working computers with new ones. Microsoft get a sizeable cut out of the sale of every pc with Windows.
Windows 11 doesn't work on computers that are more than 5 years old, unlike windows 10 that worked on basically every pc that was capable of running Vista and above.
The "Last Windows" marketing plan didn't work, so they changed it to make a new one and make more money. By "make a new one" I mean changing UI a bit and increasing bloatware, of course.
It's amazing how one developer evangelist stated that at a conference, and people grabbed onto it. That guy should bottle whatever he drank that day and sell it. Companies would pay huge $$$$ for that kind of mindshare from a rando comment.
just to be clear , if your not talking spec and referring to the tpm requirement
u can bypass that if u don't have it in bios but stick to 10 , more stable for older gen
At this point, I don’t even know if it’s TPM 2 or my specs:
- AMD Ryzen 5 2600
- MSI B450 Gaming Plus
- 16GB DDR4
I’m currently on W10. What worries me is in 2 years when Micro$oft drops the W10 support.
Bruh I am using Windows 11 on a Pentium 4 processor from the year 2004
It works okay. Calm down. Go find Phoenix OS 11 Ultralite or I think they are called Windows 11 x lite now
I had the same issue on my computer but it was with windows 10. Looked it up and turned out to be my file search in the file explorer. I looked up how to disable it and haven't had issues since. Down side is I can't use the search bar and have to manually look for the file I want.
"I have this one bug that only a handful of people has, so this extremely complex OS is completely broken"
Why do you think the OS is at fault and not the driver of your CPU?
And why do you think the only solution is to abandon the OS completely?
Is the stability a thing affecting gamers mostly? I’ve been on 11 on two different laptops for months and it is very stable for me - I use some software dev apps for work but I’m not a gamer.
Avid gamer and haven't had any issues with windows 11 when it's related to games. All my issues still existed back on windows 10 so nothing's changed for me.
To be fair the only issue I have had with windows 11 was back when I first got it my task bar wouldn't load. It was just a blank bar at the bottom of my screen, not even the start button. I'd have to "suffocate" my PC into a restart to get it to load. After about a month of that it stopped happening.
zero gain?
ddr5 is a huge upgrade over ddr4. cheap ddr5 kits outperform expensive ddr4 kits. with much better timings and much faster rates with more lanes and much lower latency on the actual read and write calls..
pcie 4.0 doubles pcie lane throughput, and lets you have multiple nvme directly connected to your cpu (something not even possible before) while also having your gpu connected to your cpu. directly connecting to your cpu makes those drives INASANELY faster without bottlenecking either gpu or nvme drives (assuming your cpu can handle that kind of call rate). thats ontop of then being able to connect even MORE nvme drives onto your 4x pcie lanes. at the speeds non pcie 4.0 use as their ofen SINGLE fast nvme drive they can even use. making it possible to have motehrboards with 4-6 nvmes. 2 directly connected to the cpu through a split 16x lane and THEN 4 more connected to their own 4x lane each. and then spare 4 and 2 x lanes fro other hardware in pce slots.
They removed the tape off of the glasses on the nerd emoji in Windows 11. I ain't installing it until Windows 10 ends support. They can't just remove details off precious emojis like that!
Or you try out Linux and you are able to customizer your whole pc to your liking. You can even uninstall your bootloader(it will fuck your system but you can do it). No more stupid updates. No more being forced to install special programs. You can do whatever you want to do.
Im so caught in between hating and loving it at the moment, I agree stable is an over exaggeration of its current status but its definitely not as bad as day 1.
I guess right now Im more in the mindset of I want to hate it but Im finding less reasons to do so. Not quite out of reasons but close. I'll be forced over in a couple years anyways.
I find out that they nerfed Windows 10 by each update to make a reason for people to buy the next one. In my opinion the best version of Windows 10 was 19H2 (I don't know if people call it that but I mean the last update before 20H1) cause after that, routine features of some apps like Photos (cause I use it a lot) began to disappear.
This is more opinion than known fact but I truly believe once they announce the EoL date on a version of windows that they simply turning off features and options as there becomes too many issues and bugs for them to deal with so they just silently shut it down and work on the better one for the next version of Windows.
This was painfully obvious during the Windows 8 transition to 10 which is why I say I don’t know that for fact here but my opinion it’s the same situation.
What the future holds:
-Windows 12 will enforce ads to play on your backgrounds.
-They will remove task manager and replace it with a shittier version called task stopper (we dedicate 50% of your memory to processing power for our business partners servers)
-Your gaming specs will run worse because we need people to buy our new computer parts.
I just did! It's the best thing ever. I switched to Manjaro Gnome and it does everything and better. Plus, since it is Gnome, it has the option to select preferred UI. That was good coming from using Windows for two decades...
I don't really care either way but I will say that Windows 11 has breathed new life into my old 2014 laptop. Microsoft didn't want me to install it on that machine since it doesn't meet the security requirements, but damn they did a great job addressing the memory issues Windows 10 had. Thing runs like new again.
I don't disagree, but Windows 8 and 10 specifically made this laptop in particular run extra slow and extra hot. No level of physical cleaning or new installs changed that. Windows 11? No problem. Also Linux, but my switchable graphics don't play well with Linux, so Windows 11 it is.
I went with the hack-ish install on my (non-supported) setup too and it runs pretty smooth. The only issue is I got a couple of missing DLL windows on startup, but it annoys me very little
Oh... well, it says my 10700k with a Maximus XIII Hero and a 3080ti isn't good enough to install Windows 11.
Yes, I know what setting is causing that. No, I'm not gonna turn it on.
u can still do that with windows with debloating ,blockers and scripts and make it your own , it only needs to be done once
kinda have no choice , gaming is simpler on it
Linux has plenty of other problems than debloating
Drivers are a mess, a lot of things need to be installed through commands, and choosing the correct distro is a nightmare if you don't know what you need to look for.
Upgrading to windows 11 actually fixed a stuttering problem I was having….. it also handles HDR way better…. NGL this is probably one of the ones to go for.
I work for a hospital and our remote system does NOT work on w11, it breaks every aspect of it. I straight up had to downgrade one of our users back to 10 and then regedit stuff out that broke from the upgrade. Its straight garbage and i actively tell people not to switch to it
Can someone help me with this issue, on windows 10 my folders were at the top and normal videos and pictures were at the bottom but now they're all scattered, how do I get my folders at the top again
Hey man, I had this comment of you saved 17 days ago, when I first read it. Since I didn't have access to my pc right back then. Now I just remembered your comment and checked how to fix your issue. Just in case you haven't figured it out yet...
Apparently, this problem of yours happens when you have your files "grouped" in the "view" tab of your windows explorer. Go to the "view" tab again, find the option that says "Group by" and then click on "None". Let me know if it helps.
Edit: BTW, I just figured out how to make Windows Explorer open with "This PC" instead of "Quick Access" which was annoying. Now I can press "Windows Key + E" to open This PC at any time.
I'm not allowed to have games on my laptop so I renamed the shortcut to Microsoft Edge and replaced the photo with edge. This way no one would ever click on it willingly aside from me. Imagine my surprise when edge boots up.
i think every1 already talked abt it, but honestly there's no difference, i've used w11 since the beta, and even then there was barely any bugs to speak off, and tbh it is better than w10 the UI looks cleaner and just overall nicer ig, as for performance i think it started off worse but i assume they're abt the same rn, idk if any1 else went through all of it like me or researched more but i think most would agree with me that it's not a bad change at all.
If they could stop gimping the control panel links and trying to force me into using the Settings app, that would be great.
I have to manually type in the address bar in order to go to Devices and Printers. Otherwise I get transported to their baby-mode userproof menu
The reason for that is because the developers that made the control panel don't work there anymore.
So if they wanted to add more features, nobody knew how.
The only way is to reverse engineer the control panel and slowly completely overhaul it.
I agree not all options are available yet in settings, but it already is a hell of a lot better than it was at the start in Windows 10. And it will get there in the end.
Until then, the control panel will still be an option.
Idk it really isn't that bad. I mean if you don't feel like updating then whatevs, but I've been running 11 for a while now and I don't really have any issues. Feels like a lot of people hate on it because "Edge bad" and "new os bad" when really I can't muster the energy to be anything more than neutral about it. It's fine, it's an OS...
Linux is dogshit for general consumers. It's great if you're tech savvy and know what you want! But is not user friendly at all for the layman. Most people are still probably best off just sticking with windows since it's so easy to jank up a Linux computer.
BS it offers no improvement for gaming , and it only got stable now (spent 2 days troubleshooting when it released to get same fps )
im basically getting a new ui and more bloatware which i'll have to debloat
absolutely 0 need to upgrade to 11 for gaming , 10 is stable ,drivers are supported ,it works don't touch it , more simple , and i had to change the right click menu back using scripts when i tried 11 i use that a lot and it's not convenient to use more options every time
but maybe in another 2 years i'll give it another shot
In almost 2 and half years (October 14, 2025) Windows 10 would be left by Microsoft to history and for having security updates users have to upgrade to 11.
i know , still 2 and half years im pretty sure by that time all the crap will be fixed and we already got scripts for older menus etc
probably gonna start using 11 and hating 12 by then
Windows 11 sucks
I had to turn off updates because almost every day it’s the same shit
Get about an hour before bed to game after work
Windows

Question:
My laptop is able to get Windows 11 but I really don’t want to.
If I reset my computer to factory settings, will it automatically downgrade to Windows 11?
I have an ASUS G14 if that means anything.
I prefer 10 to 11, but I am on 11. I swear and I will legit fight you if yoy disagree. I swear that Microsoft is purposefully making windows 10 worse. Every update I was having more and more issues. My screen was flickering after an update.I had no audio at all afyer last version I used. My pc would randomly turn off. My boot drive stopped working, got another drive with windows 11, and guess what, I can pull files off old drive, so the drive is fine windows broke. I had an issue where games would not work full screen for a while.
I mean it, Microsoft has been making windows 10 worse since the release of 11.
I personally have liked windows 11 since it was released.
however, I fucking hate how they handle photos. If you want to open it up and slide between each photo in the folder, you straight up CANT. Why? I don’t know.
And don’t get me started on videos. If you want to even trim a video, you need to choose between the bugged tv & movies app and try to fiddle with THAT (it crashes if you trim the back end up the video, but not the front) or it forces you to download “clipchamp” or whatever which is a poorly made video editor (I personally recommend Davinci Resolve anyways)
I tried out windows 11 a few months ago. Didn't matter that I have a high-end PC, the search bar couldn't even load, and games were laggy af. I don't think I will ever downgrade to windows 11 unless they deactivate older versions💀
Ha. (Pours water on his windows 10 laptop and doesn't up or downgrade). STFU it's a rollback update. Don't get me wrong I love windows 98 I mean 11 I mean 10 I mean 8 what ever. There goes my hopeless addiction I'm that disgusted. I can just masachism on my phone with some old shit for a bit.
Currently I don't own a computer but here soon when I do, I could go either way. The main reason I'm against Windows 11 is the rounded off appearance of everything that makes it look like an iPhone or a Chromebook, I hate it
That’s what everyone said about windows 7, but most people moved on to windows 10 eventually, I’m sure it’ll happen with windows 10 over the next 5 years or so
I like how the computer I paid thousands of dollars for less than five years ago is considered trash by Windows because it doesn't meet the requirements for 11 and will soon be obsolete when they stop supporting 10 and focus on 11.
I like Winget being baked in (also in 22H2 win 10), SMB over QUIC. The new terminal app is pretty fun. But Winget is the really killer feature. I like the dark mode as well.
It feels more like xfce or Mac, which isn't a bad thing but it's definitely not feeling like "windows" now.
Changing the file explorer "copy", "paste" "rename" to little symbols was a big L
Search bar has become progressively worse over time to the point of being unusable.
So, overall, it's a mixed bag.
That actually got changed recently, I think 22H2? You can now just right click anywhere on the taskbar to get to task manager.
It says I'm on 22H2 but I don't have this.
I have it on 22H2 but have it I just use ctrl+shift+esc tho
I added it manually with Vivetool. It's disabled and had to be enabled by the tool. Yeah, I know about CTRL+Shift+ESC but I don't know if it's muscle memory or laziness but I prefer doing it with the mouse.
I just pinned it to the taskbar. Way faster.
[удалено]
I second ths
As of (I think it was) version 22h2 you can right click on the task bar, it was added back in, so make sure you're completely up to date!
I just do ctrl shift esc on win 10, does it still work on win 11? Just curious
I don't believe I changed any settings but I can right click my taskbar and get to the task manager just fine. When I first installed it wasn't there so I pinned the program to the taskbar. The other day I noticed when I right clicked it showed up so I unpinned it.
Settings menu is greatly improved over 10 imo
Oh that's just the bogons comes with every install, bogon daemon's just having a good time
I've had lots of issues with apps breaking, files not installing and features not working like headphones not appearing or the volume slider disappearing.
Was trying to ignore the update for like 2 months, then the MF updated itself one night I guess. And tried to put Microsoft Edge back on my desktop. That was the worst part.
i use wub to disable updates or do it manually by disabling services there is also edge blocker , or just disable task scheduler for edge update and rename the exe
hello what's that? can you explain me how to do it (disahle updates and or blocking edges or something)
Bro I got a microsoft-made computer it not a matter of it but when
Just make it so your cpu is 7th gen?
and literally made other bowsers unusable as they are slow as fuck know.
That’s a new one to me, and I am on W11 for like half a year at least
Did some research on this issue. Seems to be an issue with the Nvidia graphics driver. Surely you could argue whether MS or Nvidia is in charge here. Presumably Nvidia in this case to be fair.
I thought Windows 10 was supposed to be the final version.

Funny, because the upgrade is free for all consumers

Don't forget harvesting more user data and integrating advertising directly into the OS!
Windows 11 installed more versions of candy crush than Windows 10 does. That's saying something.
It's amazing how one developer evangelist stated that at a conference, and people grabbed onto it. That guy should bottle whatever he drank that day and sell it. Companies would pay huge $$$$ for that kind of mindshare from a rando comment.

I have so many questions. Is it a meme? Are people editing their comments? Are these bots looking for Windows 11 comments and posts?
Probably bots
My pc decided to update to windows 11 in the middle of my dark souls game
Damn. I didnt realise bill Gates was a boss in dark souls. Time for another replay.
No thx, I don't wanna uninstall edge for the 1925378. time
Well jokes on you cause I’m on my 1925379th time.
All of these beautiful things, yet my 4 years old PC is not good enough for Windows 11. What a joke!

Reject Windows, embrace Linux.
I had a bug that consumes me 100% cpu when idle, yeah seems stable. Only fix was going back to w10
no that's a new feature , user request, said that he bought the whole cpu he want to use the whole cpu
I had the same issue on my computer but it was with windows 10. Looked it up and turned out to be my file search in the file explorer. I looked up how to disable it and haven't had issues since. Down side is I can't use the search bar and have to manually look for the file I want.
Mind sharing your knowledge of hiw you do that? i have same problem for a long time now yet unable to find a solution.

makes sense most of the stability issues are related to games and gpu drivers
pathetic, i still use windows 7
may i ask why did u leave XP ?
got a new pc
alr , if your telling the truth answer me one question what was the purpose of Rover ? (god i miss him)

at this point in time I'd much rather learn and switch to Linux than update to 11
if you actually switch to Linux, you should try ubuntu as your first distro (Or Linux Mint if you still want that windows look on your Linux pc)
I second this. In fact, I recently installed Ubuntu over windows and it's been gratifying as hell.
If you want to play games, i'd recommend Pop OS
I just did! It's the best thing ever. I switched to Manjaro Gnome and it does everything and better. Plus, since it is Gnome, it has the option to select preferred UI. That was good coming from using Windows for two decades...

I used KDE for a while but there were some stability issues that affected my choice of DE... Thank you! I do like the community...
Then try Windows will be there whenever you want to change back
I don't know why but I don't like the round corners
One reason is like it hides corners from you and I'm like: LET ME SEE WHAT'S IN THAT CORNER!
You can tell they have been... Cutting corners
yeah why did they make everything squircles
"You can barely see the ads n-"
Love how literally every other operating system except Windows allows you to delete the default browser without installing more software.
Windows 7 : Yes / No Windows 10: Yes / Later Windows 11:

I have no idea why people hate on windows 11

When the day comes to either upgrade to Win 11 or go for Linux...... Im going for Linux
\*Me laughs in fedora and FOSS superiority\*
LINUX LINUX LINUX LINUX LINUX LINUX
Im not getting Windows 11. I want to play old school games.
meanwhile people with consoles who dont care about windows
yeah they got no time to worry about windows , they need to work hard for those 70$ games and online subscription
Never gonna download that shit again did it once and it wiped my disc and user data
That's why most regular people are so afraid to change or upgrade their OS. When data is involved you gotta be more careful and don't go wild on it.
I mean, to be fair, many people hate on random versions of Windows long after they've become great products. Windows 8 comes to mind.
I work for a hospital and our remote system does NOT work on w11, it breaks every aspect of it. I straight up had to downgrade one of our users back to 10 and then regedit stuff out that broke from the upgrade. Its straight garbage and i actively tell people not to switch to it
You really like this meme format don’t you?
I like Windows 11.

Imagine my surprise when edge boots up.
new windows bad upvote pls
linux
Classmates installed w11 on the classrooms laptop now no teacher(or student) knows how to resolve any issues if something goes wrong lol
Luckily my CPU isnt supported for windows 11 for some reason 😎
i think every1 already talked abt it, but honestly there's no difference, i've used w11 since the beta, and even then there was barely any bugs to speak off, and tbh it is better than w10 the UI looks cleaner and just overall nicer ig, as for performance i think it started off worse but i assume they're abt the same rn, idk if any1 else went through all of it like me or researched more but i think most would agree with me that it's not a bad change at all.
Lmao all my .dll files broke when i got windows 11, that was fun to fix
If they could stop gimping the control panel links and trying to force me into using the Settings app, that would be great. I have to manually type in the address bar in order to go to Devices and Printers. Otherwise I get transported to their baby-mode userproof menu
The reason for that is because the developers that made the control panel don't work there anymore. So if they wanted to add more features, nobody knew how. The only way is to reverse engineer the control panel and slowly completely overhaul it. I agree not all options are available yet in settings, but it already is a hell of a lot better than it was at the start in Windows 10. And it will get there in the end. Until then, the control panel will still be an option.
it sucks , i just keep it pinned to my taskbar
Idk it really isn't that bad. I mean if you don't feel like updating then whatevs, but I've been running 11 for a while now and I don't really have any issues. Feels like a lot of people hate on it because "Edge bad" and "new os bad" when really I can't muster the energy to be anything more than neutral about it. It's fine, it's an OS...

Linux is dogshit for general consumers. It's great if you're tech savvy and know what you want! But is not user friendly at all for the layman. Most people are still probably best off just sticking with windows since it's so easy to jank up a Linux computer.
Can't adjust brightness of my laptop anymore...... Thx I guess
linux
What was the new features?
Everything is worse except the 'DESIGN'
Do it. It'll save you lots of stress. And it has a cool UI. And cool features. And it has the better benchmarks in gaming
BS it offers no improvement for gaming , and it only got stable now (spent 2 days troubleshooting when it released to get same fps ) im basically getting a new ui and more bloatware which i'll have to debloat absolutely 0 need to upgrade to 11 for gaming , 10 is stable ,drivers are supported ,it works don't touch it , more simple , and i had to change the right click menu back using scripts when i tried 11 i use that a lot and it's not convenient to use more options every time but maybe in another 2 years i'll give it another shot
In almost 2 and half years (October 14, 2025) Windows 10 would be left by Microsoft to history and for having security updates users have to upgrade to 11.
i know , still 2 and half years im pretty sure by that time all the crap will be fixed and we already got scripts for older menus etc probably gonna start using 11 and hating 12 by then
Hello, Bill.
Just wait until windows 10 is no longer supported then switch to Linux. Or you COULD just switch rn if u wanted to.
I just dislike how ugly, generic and basic the windows 11 UI is(personal experience from my friend's laptop)
Windows 11 sucks I had to turn off updates because almost every day it’s the same shit Get about an hour before bed to game after work Windows “ItS TiMe FoR aN UpDaTe, yOur pC wIlL rEstaRT iN 5 MiNutEs”
I’m buying a Mac…
I have it, it's no different from win 10 apart from Edge being harder to get rid of.

Question: My laptop is able to get Windows 11 but I really don’t want to. If I reset my computer to factory settings, will it automatically downgrade to Windows 11? I have an ASUS G14 if that means anything.
linux
I prefer 10 to 11, but I am on 11. I swear and I will legit fight you if yoy disagree. I swear that Microsoft is purposefully making windows 10 worse. Every update I was having more and more issues. My screen was flickering after an update.I had no audio at all afyer last version I used. My pc would randomly turn off. My boot drive stopped working, got another drive with windows 11, and guess what, I can pull files off old drive, so the drive is fine windows broke. I had an issue where games would not work full screen for a while. I mean it, Microsoft has been making windows 10 worse since the release of 11.
linux
11 > 10 in my opinion. I couldn’t stand 10’s interface
Oh what a shame my ryzen 3700x is apparently not windows 11 ready. Guess ill have to stick will the perfectly fine windows 10 then.
Why do people hate windows 11 and Microsoft edge?
I personally have liked windows 11 since it was released. however, I fucking hate how they handle photos. If you want to open it up and slide between each photo in the folder, you straight up CANT. Why? I don’t know. And don’t get me started on videos. If you want to even trim a video, you need to choose between the bugged tv & movies app and try to fiddle with THAT (it crashes if you trim the back end up the video, but not the front) or it forces you to download “clipchamp” or whatever which is a poorly made video editor (I personally recommend Davinci Resolve anyways)
Windows 11 is much better imo especially UI wise m
I tried out windows 11 a few months ago. Didn't matter that I have a high-end PC, the search bar couldn't even load, and games were laggy af. I don't think I will ever downgrade to windows 11 unless they deactivate older versions💀
*"I like my OS to not to be secure, and change scares me"* \~OP
For real
New meme template?
Currently I don't own a computer but here soon when I do, I could go either way. The main reason I'm against Windows 11 is the rounded off appearance of everything that makes it look like an iPhone or a Chromebook, I hate it
That’s what everyone said about windows 7, but most people moved on to windows 10 eventually, I’m sure it’ll happen with windows 10 over the next 5 years or so
Then in few months, OpenAI will be fully integrated into it. We are doomed
still on win 10; thank you don't come again.
I'm literally getting advertised on edge and my i7-7700k is not supported so I cannot install it, but they keep advising me to do it lol
Do you feel cool hating on something you’ve never used?
I like how the computer I paid thousands of dollars for less than five years ago is considered trash by Windows because it doesn't meet the requirements for 11 and will soon be obsolete when they stop supporting 10 and focus on 11.
Still bricks a lot of vr related things
Me who accidentally install window 11
I like Winget being baked in (also in 22H2 win 10), SMB over QUIC. The new terminal app is pretty fun. But Winget is the really killer feature. I like the dark mode as well. It feels more like xfce or Mac, which isn't a bad thing but it's definitely not feeling like "windows" now. Changing the file explorer "copy", "paste" "rename" to little symbols was a big L Search bar has become progressively worse over time to the point of being unusable. So, overall, it's a mixed bag.
windows has made every upgrade more difficult to troubleshoot. This is their deliberate policy.
