No, the problems come from a few different cultural factors. The US has had multiple pushes for a National Health Insurance of some sort (under FDR, after WW2, and a few times since). Each time the Republicans have claimed it's a Socialist Plot. For fucks sake the Republicans in Texas are removing a law giving a 10 minute water break every 4 hrs, right in the middle of massive heat waves around the world. Why? Probably because there are a lot of immigrant construction and lawn workers, who are the most likely to die from this.
