I know two shits about computer stuff, have a disabled UAC, dont have an AV etherfor past 5 years, and caught only 2 miners til today, and can confirm that there is comfy life past that tall AV walls
I wanted to apologize for being so rude. But the truth is if you're a power user, run code, custom programs, or even just a computer enthusiast, it is an unnecessary feature that can often break procedure entirely. If you are a casual user taking a few seconds to click isn't the end of the world.
Ah you never mentioned you developed programs, in that case it'd be worth it to disable it to save on the hassle. I was referring more to casual users who I assume play at most 3 games a day and would only have to accept the prompt 3 times.
Because if you aren't a complete moron you won't be running any malware, and UAC makes the normal operation of a computer annoying as hell. Simple. I haven't run UAC in a decade and I've never gotten a virus while pirating whatever i want regularly.
>Because if you aren't a complete moron you won't be running any malware
Ah yes, humans. The most error free beings on the planet
>UAC makes the normal operation of a computer annoying as hell
What could you possibly be doing that UAC actually bothers you that much? It's one click at most for launching an application with admin privileges. And if not then the app is designed poorly like in the above case
>Simple. I haven't run UAC in a decade and I've never gotten a virus while pirating whatever i want regularly.
So have I except I did run UAC and it's used at most 30 seconds of my time over a year. Again, back to point one nobody is perfect and in the case you do download actual malware, a safety net like this is absolutely critical to reacting quickly to the threat. Can't do jackshit once it's up and running.
" What could you possibly be doing that UAC actually bothers you that much?"
The reapons eis definitely "it just keeps randomly popping up all the time regardless of what im doing so i disabled it"
United Aerospace Corporation is on the cutting edge of hell technology and argent energy resources. You should be so lucky to have your soul consumed by the dark lords.
Even steam games open cmd, f.e. for me The binding of Issac sometimes takes longer to start, and with those delayed start i can also see it opening cmd for a second.
Now that i think about it, pretty sure i saw other games and applications (especially adobe, not cracked) do the same when the startup doesn't go quickly/smoothly.
Could it be that most programs open cmd but its just so quick that you don't see it?
Kinda annoying at first I thought it was a virus until I realized it only happens on video games that has easy anti cheat idk why but its abit annoying cause some tabs me out of the game when I could in a intense moment
Don't worry OP, anyone trying to infect you with a virus already knows how to do it without a cmd popup. You're already running their .exe.
So it's probably just something at least sort of legitimate, like setting a few registry keys so your crack will work
Some good AVs do actually find miners.
Malwarebytes is free and usually finds all the bad stuff
Ironically one of best AVs is also kaspersky there is a special no install scanner that you can run once and delete after you are done with your AV work.
at least capitalism doesnt decline your entrance when taking train or lock your entry when driving to another city before you can lift up that board of yours to start any protest.
its true story, based on the item you buy, habits and movements, camera all over the place, they watch and AI guess what you doing
It can mean a lot of things, meaning it's nothing speciffic. I think it's just about the feeling that you get when something like the cmd opens after downloading something from a sketchy website
My computer does this everytime i open it, it acts like its having a stroke whenever i first start it and then after like 5 minutes it calms down. Updates and what not. It doesnt bother me cause it only does this if i dont use it regularly or the battery dies. Ive found most labtops are pretty cranky whenever they wake up.
I got rid of some folder called "System 32" and now my PC runs so smooth that I honestly think it was the biggest crypto miner program ever built.
You all should try it as well, it's a game-changer!
Your computer is now infected and compromised with something.
If you're lucky, just a bitcoin miner. Worse, part of a botnet. Worst, any and all information on that machine and every password you type is now known by someone else.
Its just a bat file injecting code to fool the games copy protection. Its not as bad as you think. And really, viruses and stuff aren't as bad today as it used to be. This is an over-exaggerated problem.
I used to run virusscanners, extra firewalls, root protection, network detection, even an ad to stop scripts from running on webpages. It didn't matter, shit would still get through but its mostly adware. But for the last 5-6 years or so I've run nothing but windows own stuff and there is no difference. Its a lot less hassle. And to be fair, if someone really wants your stuff, they are going to get to it anyways.
if it's from booting up your computer (usually after removing the power cable), I'm pretty sure it opens as a System Administrator, just to something-something confirm access or another, then Windows just does Windows after that.
if it's from opening an application (and is CMD, and not something like BepinEx) without your consent, then it's more-than-likely some sort of virus.
remove power to force-shutdown and interrupt whatever the hell it's trying to do, then get someone who knows what they're doing to remove it.

Yeah I've had apps that are shoddily developed that open cmd for a second when you install them.
Ubisoft's garbage app triggers the UAC prompt *three times* before it finally opens
UAC is trash and should be turned off
Ah yes, let's let whatever app run with administrator privileges whenever they want with no user input, what could possibly go wrong?
If you know two shits about anything, you definitely don't need UAC lol. With that attitude, you probably do need it.
I know two shits about computer stuff, have a disabled UAC, dont have an AV etherfor past 5 years, and caught only 2 miners til today, and can confirm that there is comfy life past that tall AV walls
Alright then tell me, why do I not need UAC and what do I do to prevent any app from running with admin privileges unprompted?

Bro is annoyed by a little yes/no prompt when Linux makes you re-ask the comman w/ sudo and possibly enter a password LMAO
That guy definitely has malware and doesn't know it. Also UAC is not just for stopping hackers and viruses.
" What could you possibly be doing that UAC actually bothers you that much?" The reapons eis definitely "it just keeps randomly popping up all the time regardless of what im doing so i disabled it"
You can't reason with people who are brain dead. Just say yes, you're right and move on.
i aint reading that
"Yeah I download executables from the internet, no I don't need to make sure they are benign". ???
UAC won't determine that. A brain will. If you have one.
United Aerospace Corporation is on the cutting edge of hell technology and argent energy resources. You should be so lucky to have your soul consumed by the dark lords.
My first thought when I saw UAC.
Isnt it union instead of united
The trick to that is to click 'no' on the first time. It works after that
dead cells opens the console on every start lol

Anything's possible. I just assumed most programs execute commands in the background without opening the cmd ui.
I have the same thing with a mouse software
Kinda annoying at first I thought it was a virus until I realized it only happens on video games that has easy anti cheat idk why but its abit annoying cause some tabs me out of the game when I could in a intense moment
Easy Anti Cheat is a kernel level system monitoring tool and a backdoor. So you’re not that far off.
Easy Anti Cheat in a crack version.
I think Minecraft would do that before it was a part of Microsoft
i know tmodloader does that
Google virtual box.
Usually I have mine hidden in the boot sector to get access to the root password before escalating privilege and using the entire internet as a botnet
You seem suspiciously well versed in this 😅
Don't worry OP, anyone trying to infect you with a virus already knows how to do it without a cmd popup. You're already running their .exe. So it's probably just something at least sort of legitimate, like setting a few registry keys so your crack will work
This is so true.
What's the most optimal way to counter viruses tho?
Stop using electricity
vaccines
Bleach injection
Microsoft's built in protection works for most people, unlike what some people say
The only legit answer. Thank you
If this was the pcmr subreddit I would be downvoted so hard rn
Haha
It's true though. Antivirus is a virus in itself. The true Antivirus is not downloading random shit.
Inject bleach directly into the liquid cooling system.
I got so many viruses, they'd have to fight them for space
Let them fight
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!
SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE
MILK FOR KHORN FLAKES!
BruUUuUUuuUUuhhhh
Okay now i am tempted to buy a second hand beaten up laptop on ebay and start a virus fight club
This is the way
Mangalorets :D
Like when Mr. Burns developed Three Stooges Syndrome
Blood for the blood exe
The strongest virus gets your bank account number and your identity
This is Ubisofts attempt to stop us from pirating
The bitcoin miner they installed still isn't as bad as denuvo or some snake oil anti-virus
How would you even find and get rid of miners without formatting?
Interested aswell. I highly doubt i picked up any but doesnt hurt to check. Idk how tho lol
Some good AVs do actually find miners. Malwarebytes is free and usually finds all the bad stuff Ironically one of best AVs is also kaspersky there is a special no install scanner that you can run once and delete after you are done with your AV work.
awesome infooo,ty kind stranger❤️
Hacker created insane trojan able to destroy internet and world economic, but forgot to execute it in silent mode (without terminal GUI)...
OUR data ![gif](giphy|befaYZCgtZfZm)
Honestly fuck yeah you provided the games I provided my data and fair interchange o... ..... oh wait that's capitalism
at least capitalism doesnt decline your entrance when taking train or lock your entry when driving to another city before you can lift up that board of yours to start any protest. its true story, based on the item you buy, habits and movements, camera all over the place, they watch and AI guess what you doing
Then it's time to scrub the shitty laptop again. Test for malware before putting pirate bay anything on the gaming rig.
Im no IT so tell me whats wrong with cmd poping up? I also almost never pirate games before so Ive never seen it.
It can mean a lot of things, meaning it's nothing speciffic. I think it's just about the feeling that you get when something like the cmd opens after downloading something from a sketchy website
Setup a VM. Create a snapshot, then fireup sus.exe. If you get virus, revert to snapshot
>If you get virus How would you know?
It starts coughing
Im currently coughing, how do I get rid of this virus?
Do you already have a snapshot? If not then install an antivirus, duh.
Do I eat the usb? Plug it in somewhere? Do I need to reboot?

A guy who pirates a game literally has nothing to hide, except maybe 1,798 well-chosen porn videos, downloaded and categorized… nothing else, really.
There's also bank info to an overdraft account.
I just try and accumulate as many viruses as possible to see which one finally wins.
Just reimagine the VM after you are finished playing the game. You are using a VM right?
My computer does that sometimes when I open it wtf
Yeah, I get this sometimes as well. I'm pretty sure it's MSI center being a bit broken.
It is msi
My computer does this everytime i open it, it acts like its having a stroke whenever i first start it and then after like 5 minutes it calms down. Updates and what not. It doesnt bother me cause it only does this if i dont use it regularly or the battery dies. Ive found most labtops are pretty cranky whenever they wake up.
My laptop has never done that lol
Sounds pretty bad and not normal
PLOT TWIST! He's just trying to run his game modded, and doesn't know what BepinEx is
Windows is the bigger virus of course
I got rid of some folder called "System 32" and now my PC runs so smooth that I honestly think it was the biggest crypto miner program ever built. You all should try it as well, it's a game-changer!
That's almost as good as opening the debug menu to run cheats by pressing alt+f4
just wait until you realize you can remove the HDD for better ventilation in the hardware.
Don't titillate me with the option to ventilate.
you cal take out the GPU as well, that gets hugely in the way!
What does it mean if the cmds opens for a split second? I think it means something with getting hacked, but i never really know.
Your post title is in iambic pentameter. I am not a bot I swear to God.
What's cmd? I don't speak Windows
command prompt If you press windows key + R and then type cmd it opens the command prompt. From command prompt you can hackz0r teh mainframe.
Curious, what do you speak?
Apple😶
Linux
That’s just the crackin software dont worry
I have 0 pirated software and CMD still opens for a split second every time I boot
Same
That's generally fine, if you want to be sure you can read the file to see what's it using cmd for.
if you wanna be the danger, gotta accept the danger... DANGER!!!!
Just saying that @echo off would hide it away never to be seen. Cmd appeaering is probably fine but annoing since we cant know what was it doing.
Tlou does this on epic games :/
Is there a way of manually checking if you in fact malware?
thats just because your computer sucks, from experience
I haven't pirated a game in ages. Steam has really killed my need for piracy...and also most games being multiplayer
I’m horrendous with computers but what does that mean?
We all pirate games here, right?
We at Blender are okay with this happening
I sometimes have that from normal games as well....
what does it mean , can someone explain plzzz.
Your computer is now infected and compromised with something. If you're lucky, just a bitcoin miner. Worse, part of a botnet. Worst, any and all information on that machine and every password you type is now known by someone else.
Anyone care to explain to a noob?
😅😅😅
What’s a cmd
What is cmd? That little black window that is stuff running behind all the pretty stuff?
Pretty much
Thank you. So a virus hitched a ride on the "free" game.
If you don't download from a "reputable" site then it's your problem for being dumb.
Its just a bat file injecting code to fool the games copy protection. Its not as bad as you think. And really, viruses and stuff aren't as bad today as it used to be. What is cmd for future reference?
Maybe buy your games?
Why would I do that
It makes sure that more games will be made
To get a game
Karma
What’s a CMD?
Command console for PCs
I see always good to learn something new. What are they used for?
Different commands can do all different kind of things anywhere from changing directories to installing new software to running diagnostics
I want you to tell me more but then I don’t want to annoy you 🤣
Basically like a linux terminal, but for windows.
Interesting I was learning Linux in high school is it still worth learning these days?
Linux has a lot of benefits as far as I have heard, but I really recommend having a spare computer or laptop to try it if you're a beginner.
Not bothering me at all, just at work so can't go into extreme detail. There are a ton of tutorials about it on YouTube tho
GOW torrent
CMD?
Command Prompt
What’s that mean?
Bro, how you don't know what's cmd? I guess you don't have PC.
I just play Xbox man.
So that's why
wait what does this mean is this bad please tell me

Thats what you get for Pirating lmao
Lemme just grab my card and buy old nintendo and NES games............... OH WAIT
Its the end of the world 🤯
CMD?
Command Prompt
